The hostess was polite and prompt The waitress on the other hand took her time with us and then when we ordered didn't even take our drink order. Then they served our food, but forgot my youngest boys breakfast (which was only pancakes on the kids menu). Then in the middle of him eating his mail while we were waiting she just dropped the check and said no rush instead of just waiting for him to finish up. Lastly, we paid our bill and then the waitress said oh wait I forgot to add your drinks to the check. This place kept getting recommended on all the tours we went on so because of that I just knew that it had to be some tourist trap that probably wasn't even great but boy was I wrong! This is the best lobster roll ever and I don't even normally like cold lobster rolls I prefer the warm style. Honestly, this wasn't our first choice for breakfast. We originally planned to go somewhere else, but that location had a bunch of emergency vehicles outside, so we decided to head to Belle's instead--and I'm so glad we did. To get there, you walk through a shipyard where you can see boats and yachts being serviced, which I thought was pretty cool. The hostess greeted us warmly and seated us outside. With the weather being nice, we had views of the harbor, the boats, and the bridge. Our server was also incredibly friendly and brought our coffees out quickly. The food here was excellent. It was packed with tiny peppers, and the perfect amount of onion. I was happy with the amount of cheese, others might want more. I was relieved to discover that although their breakfast specials only go until 11am, breakfast and lunch are both served all day! :) We arrived around 1pm, and the wait time was about 35 minutes. Not a problem as there's shaded areas to sit or walk around while you wait. There's both indoor and outdoor seating- outdoors you're literally immersed in the harbor and eating like 20 feet from boats and the ocean! Food was so tasty- my sister kept raving about the Shipyard Sandwich. The croissant was soft/warm/flaky and the eggs were cooked perfectly (although she wished the yolk was a little runnier). The salad has breaded chicken nestled warmly under the bed of greens! Perfectly crispy, the capers added a great bunch of flavor, and the tomatoes added a nice touch. My family and I had a great experience at Bell's Café in Newport. We waited 45 minutes to be seated since they do not take reservations. And once we had ordered our food, it took about thirtyish minutes to arrive to the table. The ambience and outdoor scenery Was great! Service staff hosts and bar staff were also pleasant. This was our favorite breakfast spot while in Newport! Located in the Marina and you actually get to walk through the boat section! So fun seeing how large boats are out of water and up close! There was a long wait, we waited for 1 hr 15 mins but honestly worth it. There are couches to hang while waiting and the weather was perfect so we were not complaining! We were in Newport for a wedding and were staying downtown, which allowed for us to walk everywhere for meals. Over a four day stay we ate at Belle's every morning because the food was amazing and the service was equally exceptional. The lobster rolls were delicious, the pancakes were perfect, and my soft scrambled eggs were cooked to perfection. I included a picture of the lobster Benedict which tasted excellent. The restaurant is in a shipyard which makes for cool sightseeing as you're walking through the yard as different vessels are being worded on. This will be one of the best dining experiences you'll have while you're in Newport. We were here in the middle of April before the busy season. We leave tomorrow to head back to California, and of course we're having breakfast again at Belle's before heading home. read more

As our first meal in Newport, we stopped by Belle's (no reservation) for breakfast. We had originally hoped to sit indoors, but they were only doing outdoor seating that day. However, that was perfectly fine as there were plenty of tables on the dock covered by a tent. I had the avocado toast while my boyfriend had the lobster roll. His lobster roll came with the chips still in the bag (we would have preferred it on the plate so that we could have pretended they were homemade) and my avocado toast came with potatoes, two eggs, and fruit. Checked out this place because it consistently popped up in our searches as one of the recommend places to eat when in Newport. Had high hopes but had to admit I was a tad disappointed with our experience here. It probably had to do with our luck, but my friends and I came at a busy time and ended up waiting around 40 minutes to be seated, which we were fine with waiting but it ended up being a longer wait than we were told to expect so I think that dampened the excitement before we started to eat. I ordered the eggs Benedict and I have no complaints. In particular I really liked their home fries- the seasoning was on point!! I think it was that we were expecting more given that we waited so long. Again probably just our luck--so I would say this place is good but nothing extraordinary. It's been a couple years since I had been to Belles and boy has it grown. When it first started, I remember ordering at the counter and then them bringing our food to us. Now they have a hostess stand who told us it would be about a 25 minute wait for lunch. (it was a beautiful June day) It was less than that and we were seated at a lovely table. I had my favorite which is their amazing avocado toast with eggs on the side. My husband had the chowder, which I tasted and it was delicious. He had the tuna melt and loved it. Every time I've gone the food has been consistently very, very good. Its always such a nice spot to sit outside. It's too well known now to keep a secret so I highly recommend it!
