Then they served our food, but forgot my youngest boys breakfast (which was only pancakes on the kids menu). Then in the middle of him eating his mail while we were waiting she just dropped the check and said no rush instead of just waiting for him to finish up. Lastly, we paid our bill and then the waitress said oh wait I forgot to add your drinks to the check. Honestly, this wasn't our first choice for breakfast. We originally planned to go somewhere else, but that location had a bunch of emergency vehicles outside, so we decided to head to Belle's instead--and I'm so glad we did. To get there, you walk through a shipyard where you can see boats and yachts being serviced, which I thought was pretty cool. The hostess greeted us warmly and seated us outside. Spending the weekend in Newport and swung by for a late breakfast/early lunch. I was relieved to discover that although their breakfast specials only go until 11am, breakfast and lunch are both served all day! :) We arrived around 1pm, and the wait time was about 35 minutes. Not a problem as there's shaded areas to sit or walk around while you wait. There's both indoor and outdoor seating- outdoors you're literally immersed in the harbor and eating like 20 feet from boats and the ocean! Food was so tasty- my sister kept raving about the Shipyard Sandwich. The croissant was soft/warm/flaky and the eggs were cooked perfectly (although she wished the yolk was a little runnier). The salad has breaded chicken nestled warmly under the bed of greens! Perfectly crispy, the capers added a great bunch of flavor, and the tomatoes added a nice touch. My family and I had a great experience at Bell's Café in Newport. We waited 45 minutes to be seated since they do not take reservations. And once we had ordered our food, it took about thirtyish minutes to arrive to the table. The ambience and outdoor scenery Was great! Service staff hosts and bar staff were also pleasant. The food was good, nothing to write home about, but definitely the Newport vibe. And the prices were very reasonable, especially for the area that it's in. Keep in mind that they do not have traditional style parking so you either have to park using the street meters or find a day rate lot. We were in Newport for a wedding and were staying downtown, which allowed for us to walk everywhere for meals. Over a four day stay we ate at Belle's every morning because the food was amazing and the service was equally exceptional. The lobster rolls were delicious, the pancakes were perfect, and my soft scrambled eggs were cooked to perfection. I included a picture of the lobster Benedict which tasted excellent. The restaurant is in a shipyard which makes for cool sightseeing as you're walking through the yard as different vessels are being worded on. This will be one of the best dining experiences you'll have while you're in Newport. We were here in the middle of April before the busy season. As our first meal in Newport, we stopped by Belle's (no reservation) for breakfast. We had originally hoped to sit indoors, but they were only doing outdoor seating that day. However, that was perfectly fine as there were plenty of tables on the dock covered by a tent. I had the avocado toast while my boyfriend had the lobster roll. His lobster roll came with the chips still in the bag (we would have preferred it on the plate so that we could have pretended they were homemade) and my avocado toast came with potatoes, two eggs, and fruit. The potatoes were actually seasoned quite well, so I was satisfied with my meal. Was looking for a nice breakfast place and saw some good reviews. It also came highly recommended by the hotel I was staying at and it was relatively close. It's got a wonderful location right on the water and the weather was nice so I was able to grab a seat on the patio. I ordered the cake Benedict with a cup coffee. I thought it was a very reasonabley priced for crabcake Benedict and the portion was massive! My food and drink came out in rapid speed and enjoyed every bite. Now they have a hostess stand who told us it would be about a 25 minute wait for lunch. (it was a beautiful June day) It was less than that and we were seated at a lovely table. I had my favorite which is their amazing avocado toast with eggs on the side. My husband had the chowder, which I tasted and it was delicious. He had the tuna melt and loved it. Every time I've gone the food has been consistently very, very good. Its always such a nice spot to sit outside. It's too well known now to keep a secret so I highly recommend it! It probably had to do with our luck, but my friends and I came at a busy time and ended up waiting around 40 minutes to be seated, which we were fine with waiting but it ended up being a longer wait than we were told to expect so I think that dampened the excitement before we started to eat. I ordered the eggs Benedict and I have no complaints. In particular I really liked their home fries- the seasoning was on point!! I think it was that we were expecting more given that we waited so long. Again probably just our luck--so I would say this place is good but nothing extraordinary. The locals say the restaurant has gotten a lot busier now that tourists know about it- oops! We waited at the waiting area filled with picnic tables and chairs for about 30 min for our order. We ordered the catch of the day sandwich and Belle's burger and were not disappointed. Everything tasted fresh. We ate at the picnic table and it honestly felt like a dine in experience without the service. We were just a few feet away from the actually dine in tables so we had the same views and ambiance. I can't speak for the service but I believe they were short on staff because it was outdoor dining only and even then- there were a few empty tables. The place was not filled to capacity. The coffee was flavorful and served piping hot but the espresso/latte machine was broken so limited to coffee and tea. Breakfast was delicious with the exception of the unimpressive luke warm potatoes/pan fries I didn't eat. Fresh eggs, ham, sourdough bread all delicious. Limited jellies (grape/strawberry) in small plastic package made by heinz. My daughter really enjoyed everything on her avocado toast meal. $47 seems steep for 2 coffees and 2 breakfast plates. Its right in a Marina, and overlooks working docks, so the view isn't amazing but its decent.
