Newport, RI - we were looking for a quick and casual lunch spot in between visiting the Newport mansions so I asked a staff member for recommendations (always trust the locals!) and she steered us here. It was exactly what I had in mind and the food is fantastic! My family all got what they wanted between sandwiches, salads, and all day breakfast. My Straight from the Pulse Salad was so hearty and nourishing, beautifully plated, and brimming with fresh, raw and grilled/blanched veggies. I had a taste of everyone's food and all was really fab and satisfying. The cafe (which sells the usual cafe beverages and baked goods) is attached to a separate spacious dining area. You order at the cafe counter and they'll bring your order to your table. There are outdoor tables too. Very excellent all around!

I always get my pizza across the lot at Mama Leonis and today I finally get to try this amazing cafe! Not only is the food fantastic but the employees here are so happy and nice and they deliver impeccable service! Fun vibes in here but there's a separate room that has 3 large tables for bigger groups or families! I live across the bridge so I don't always come this way but I think I might have to come more often for the burritos and delicious coffee!

I didn't do this and ended up parking in the big lot and found it was $9.50/hr Amazing food and unique coffee options. I ordered a veggie egg burrito- it was huge! Mom got avocado eggs Benedict. I also bought a zucchini scone which was delicious. Indoor and outdoor seating available.
Lovely vibes on a saturday morning brunch hour. Quinoa scramble was scrumptious and the roasted tomatoes and spinach blended well with the egg and cheese to create a scramble that wasn't too dry. I got the bee's knees (latte with vanilla, honey, and cinnamon) and i was on my knees! So good - i did ask for mine to be less sweet though.
Cru Cafe is a must try if you are in the area. Lauren went above and beyond to help our large group, and made us feel like we were right at home. The food, lattes, and ambiance were excellent!
This is the spot to go to for lunch in Newport! Service was friendly and ordering was so easy at the counter. They give you a table number and there's plenty of seating indoors and out. The salad I got was one of the most unique and delicious salads I've ever had. I'm still thinking about it. The portion of salmon was huge and the caramelized onions and grilled mango were the perfect additions. I would definitely come back here again and get the same thing!
I had a magnificent first meal here yesterday! I had the twisted toast. Two big pieces of smoked salmon and a perfectly cooked one easy egg...yum! Both over a big piece of panini toast with avocado. The whole thing was topped with capers and some red onion. Amazing! My dining companion had the Irish smoked salmon which also looked and, I was told, was fantastic. The staff was also amazing and only made the experience better. I also ordered a macchiato after my meal and it was wonderful. I'm running out of superlatives for this place. Just get there but please save a seat for me!
The food was very good and service was very nice and helpful. It's a cute place and can get busy the line grew long while we were there but seems to move. We got lucky to only have few people in front of us both times we went. We went to Newport just for two days and ate there both for a hearty brunch. Highly recommend We shared an apple pie pastry and blueberry muffin too. I had a chai latte day 2 he went with just coffee all was great.
Cute space. Order at the counter. So many good specials it was hard to choose. Burger was good. Tots were good but didn't have much for seasoning. Peach tea is not homemade. Desserts look amazing but I didn't try any.
Huge portions, great service, lots of seating. I got the Cru Breakfast and subbed the home fries with tater tots! The sauce that came with the tots was stellar.
I really enjoy Cru Cafe. The food is always really good and you get quite a lot of food for the price. Inside can be fairly loud but the seating outside is really nice if you're able to find a spot. The servers are always super nice and helpful. I have gone here with my father, who is gluten free, and my boyfriend, who follows a low carb diet, and they were able to provide options for both of them.
Cute little cafe tucked in behind the automobile museum. We came here for breakfast on Saturday. They have brunch options on Saturday and Sunday only which consisted of chicken biscuit and gravy. He ordered that and it was a huge helping. Two people could have shared. I ordered the Not Your Average BLT with a pumpkin cold brew coffee and both were so yummy! The lady that took our order was so nice and helpful and the rest of the staff were super friendly. It's a must whenever you are in Newport!

Great breakfast and lunch spot! This place came recommended to me and I was very excited to try this cafe that is tucked behind the automobile museum. The vibes are great and energy is lively. All the workers are so nice and there is open seating and it's all very tidy. It does get busy so I'd recommend getting there earlier if you want to snag a table easier. I got the Casino breakfast sandwich which was delicious and their homemade biscuit was not dry at all! The coffee was also really good. They also had some sugar cookie samples out which were yummy and soft! I'd love to be back to try some other menu items sometime! read more

I had the Not Your Average BLT... delish! Avocado, egg, bacon, lettuce & tomato.. very tasty. Was there on a Saturday at 12noon and it's pretty crowded but there is plenty of seating - inside & out. Food came out quickly. Nice vibe. read more

Very mid and bland. Go elsewhere. I had high expectations for this since so many people rate it highly. Maybe it's what I got. But it was very average. I also witnessed the cashier drop a muffin on the counter, picked it up, and put it back on the rack to sell. Kinda gross. $15 for a burrito is wild. read more

A Newport staple! They have indoor and outdoor seating. They have a restroom available inside. It is very close to the tennis hall of fame. It's also just great, probably the best coffee I had on this trip and it wasn't over priced. They also have many pastries inside that were great. I'd definitely get the Newporter. I recommend adding bacon to it! Service was also so so so nice. I will definitely be coming back. read more

Great place in Newport for breakfast. Seating may be limited depending on when you arrive but worth it. Staff are friendly and make the experience easier by making sure you have a menu while you wait in line. The line moves well when you know you want to order but some don't . I had the Cru Breakfast. Eggs were cooked perfectly and there was a lot of bacon (a good thing). How's fries and toast round it out. It has indoor and outdoor seating which moved quickly so we saw no one waiting. Cru Cafe is a bustling business that has a large amount of seating, an amazing menu, and the service was top notch. We waited in a long line mid-morning, as it appears to be a local and tourist favorite. Many people were already eating and the kitchen was busy, but the employees were quick and attentive and the wait in line and the wait for food was much less than anticipated. Oh my! The food was soooo good. We ordered smoked salmon avocado toast and avocado Benedict and fresh corned beef hash. Perfect portions and very thoughtful touches to classic menu items. There was a big glass case at the front by the register filled with a delicious variety of pastries. For beverages, I got a cappuccino, (my favorite) and a coffee. The flavor of the espresso was silky and delicious and it was easy to grab a coffee at the beverage station which had a few classic choices with house mugs stacked along the side. I was so happy to find this spot. It was rainy and chilly and this brightened up our day and filled our belly before the cliff walk. A must try! A+++ read more

The food was good. For the price though, we weren't super impressed. Definitely get the apple fried donut though! Cream of tomato is a nice marinara, so definitely pair it with a grilled cheese. It is a little spicy though! Plenty of seating even when it's busy and staff is friendly and service was quick. Staff brings you your food, and you put your dish in the dish return area when done. They have outside seating too. Good spot for brunch/lunch. read more

Loved this cute restaurant for a late brunch/lunch. They have a great variety of breakfast, lunch, pastries, etc. on their menu - so many great options. I personally went with their grilled cheese and it was delicious. My friends ordered the loaded tots and gave them a 9.5/10. The line to order might seem long but it moves very quickly and the service is great. I would recommend this place for a quick pick me up or a small breakfast/lunch. read more

Cru is located very conveniently in the heart of the town next to the Tennis Museum. It's a hybrid counter/sit down restaurant. For breakfast they have a very good choice of bakery items, breakfast sandwiches, traditional cooked to order breakfast entrees. Fresh squeezed juices and great coffee to boot. The service was great and everyone was friendly. Food was mostly good. My sandwich was good but not great. I couldn't put my finger on why exactly it wasn't great... maybe the presentation? Maybe it was a little too messy? Ah. I know. It was the lettuce. It was a BLT but maybe a little too much lettuce. My kid ordered eggs, bacon, and toast and she had no complaints. The OJ was great because it's fresh squuzed and coffee station is self service in mugs which I liked very much. The tater tots were my biggest complaint. It was a little too crispy and I got a slight sense the oil was getting past its prime. Was not a fan of the creamy sauce that they gave with it. Cru would have gotten. A 5 star rating if it were not for the tater tots. Overall I liked Cru. They serve dinner on Friday and Saturday nights and I will try them as it's BYOB and I love BYOB. A very solid breakfast option in Newport. read more
