I was walking by Corner Social on a rain chilled Saturday afternoon and this provided the rare opportunity to get in here without the usual crowds. Corner Social is always busy and forget it from Friday afternoon onwards through the weekend typically. Seeing my opening, I took it today. I walked into the well appointed space and had my choice of seating. I ordered the shrimp and grits and my order came within ten minutes. Given what this kitchen normally handles, the pace of orders today was a cakewalk. The shrimp and grits are served on a bowl of a plate with a wide rim to exaggerate the amount of the serving. It's all very tasty, but they could afford to place the shrimp and sliced andouille on a more substantial mound of grits. Grits are very inexpensive and it seemed they could afford to have more of these creamy grits as part of a more substantial presentation, especially at this price point in the mid twenties. There are about six medium to large sized shrimp with a few slices of andouille to spice things up. To the credit of the chef, the dish managed good flavor without overly salting it or have it swimming in butter. Read that last sentence again. There seem to be cooked onions and peppers in the sauce, rounding out the flavors. Service was good at Corner Social and the bathroom is clean. There are far more things on the menu, but the shrimp and grits leave the palate satisfied, but the stomach wanting more for the value. It's a lively atmosphere with several flatscreens behind the bar to catch the game. 3.8 stars! read more

Ok, so look, the DJ is still fire. The clientele is still sexy. But the floor is extra sticky, like the floor of an old Chucky Cheese. Somebody needs to deep clean that floor. Usually, chicken and waffles come in the form of separate items laid on top of each other. This was my first time seeing a chicken and waffles sandwich on a menu, and so I had to try it out. This was certainly interesting. I think the combination worked, but with some caveats. Firstly, the waffles were on the drier side. The best waffles are waffles you can eat without syrup or any additions and be perfectly happy, but this wasn't that. They were slightly fluffy, but not very much so. What this meant was that initially, the sandwich lacked moisture and felt somewhat bland. We asked for maple syrup - which oddly wasn't given to us by default - and this significantly improved the experience. While this rendered us unable to eat it like a normal sandwich (unless you want the stickiest hands in existence), the fork and knife wasn't a bad substitute. It mostly stayed together. The maple syrup added a ton of sweetness and moisture which was desperately needed due to the waffle being on both sides. The chicken was really good though. It was chicken thigh - a much better idea in this case than going with chicken breast. The outside was a beautiful golden brown color and highly crispy. Just as far as the chicken in chicken and waffles, it's some of the best I've had that isn't fried in breadcrumbs. The home fries were not good. They were too soft, underseasoned, and not very appealing. On the form function of this sandwich, I'm a little mixed. If you end up eating with a fork and knife anyway, why not just have chicken and waffles the normal way? You get more of the waffle this way, but in my opinion the main focus should be on the chicken. I thought this version was still fine though For the price, it's actually cheaper than I expected at less than 20 dollars. The portion size is pretty large. 10 read more

What you see is what you get at Corner Social, and I love that consistency for them. Enjoyed my visit for Sunday brunch while in Harlem. The DJ provided the perfect ambiance as the sunlight streamed in from the high windows behind me. This place is also wonderful for people watching. There were no frills to the food that I ordered, mimosas and pancakes with fruit and a side of eggs. All was good for Sunday brunch with great music from the DJ, and my waitress was timely. Will definitely be back to one of my favorite brunch and hangout spots in Harlem. read more

The Loaded nachos, Louisiana popcorn shrimp and Coconut and chicken curry were all delicious, no complaints. Everything was seasoned well. The server was polite and courteous and the ambiance outside seating was nice. My only issue was the take out Battered fish and chips. The fish was greasy, tasteless, seemed not to be fresh and the dish looked unappealing , the coleslaw was dry and the fries were bland. I wouldn't recommend any take out - yah just never know or you need to check it out prior to leaving the restaurant- my opinion. Prices were decent. read more

I ordered the lobster ravioli, and let me tell you--AMAZINGGGGGG! The flavors were rich and creamy, and the bread that came with it was soft and warm, the perfect complement to the dish. I loved every bite and would definitely come back just to order it again! The only issue I had was that there was a draft where we were seated, and it was so cold. I really wish the place was warmer because it made it a little uncomfortable while dining. Overall, Corner Social is a solid spot with great food, good service, and a chill atmosphere. The only thing I would change is you don't have the option to switch out your sides on your entrees and one of the sides is potato salad. I was in Harlem for an event on Saturday so I decided to stop by just for cocktails and tapas. The ambience was great 10/10. Noise level 8/10. Service 10/10. However, I was really disappointed with the food and beverage 3/10. The food lacked seasoning, it was very bland to the point that the only thing I ate was the french fries I ordered a mango Margarita that was utterly disgusting. It seems like they just poured drink in a glass with ice and added a dash of tequila. That was very upsetting to me because I was looking forward to something tasty to wake up my taste buds. Some reviews complain that this place doesn't have a neighborhood vibe anymore, that it's too crowded, that the music is too loud. Well, inside the music is WAY too loud. Outside, it's ok. But I had no issue getting in, had no wait time, and it wasn't too crowded. Service was attentive and laid back (Jose was my server), and everyone there seemed to conducting business the Harlem way (neighborhood vibes for days). I had the salmon, which is served on mashed potatoes, with broccoli and cooked tomatoes. Jose provided fresh ground pepper table-side. I had some smoky Brussels sprouts too. Not the most creative or best I've ever had--simple, but good. I had a few cocktails--the earthy Harlem Sage (vodka, ginger, pineapple, lime, sage) and the refreshing Paloma-esque golden goose (vodka, passionfruit, lime, ginger beer). Additionally, I had the fruity Harlem Love Punch (rum, peach schnapps, pineapple, mango, strawberry, and lemon) and the simple Uptown Baby (vodka, midori, strawberry, lime). All the drinks are 15 bucks and are tasty and easy going down. Though I had the more elevated dish of salmon and the accompanying veggies, they also have steak, shrimp and grits, lobster ravioli, coconut chicken, pasta, salads, and some pub grub--nachos, mussels, spinach dip, lamb lollipops, mozzarella sticks, etc. By the way, even if the music is too loud inside--the playlist is awesome! Decent sized restaurant with outdoor dining options. We arrived around 7:30PM and it was relatively quiet with not too many patrons. They have a DJ and play music, which was pretty loud, but after about an hour, it became relatively crowded. By the time we left, it was wall to wall and I noticed they began to charge men for entry. As a group, we ordered calamari, two different types of wings, French fries, and I had Penne. The food was pretty good and we were all content with that. However, I noticed they charged .50 cents for an extra ketchup, which I found to be slightly ridiculous. I would recommend this place because the food was good, however, if you don't care for loud music, I'd suggest eating outside and not coming too late. read more

Haven't been to my spot Corner Social in a while it was nice to come with newbies who hadn't been before. I'd never been for brunch but what I can say is the vibe on a Sunday during brunch is very opposite of what it used to be pre-pandemic. Less hype and less people of color by far. Not a bad thing just sharing for those who may appreciate insight. :) This is also a diff menu and the toast sticks were good as well as the fresh bacon but hated the price for the serving size. Our service Juanita was cool but a bit forgettable. I appreciated that she didn't give me a problem when I requested my water served fancy in a glass the same as the crew that was drinking alcohol.
