Tin ceilings, nice woodwork, incredible porcelain and tile in the men's room. Smallish interior. Sat at the bar. Undecided between a cheeseburger and the harvest salad. Opted for the CB. It was good, not great. Bun was ok, better than most. Crinkle-cut fries from a bag. Service very good, prices reasonable. Extremely loud for early Sunday afternoon. A residential area must have grown up around this tavern. It doesn't scream anything too special from the outside, especially during the day when you can't see the lights. But inside is classic pub from floor to ceiling, and the bar is over half the room and gorgeous. The food was saying fried and easy, but was tasty. The cheese curds came with marinara sauce instead of garlic, c'est la vie. Otherwise it was all well cooked and warm, definitely appropriate for beer. We just had a couple drinks so can't speak on the food situation but they are known for their wings and burgers. It's all original inside from 1904 if I remember correctly and gorgeous. Amazing local restaurant, eat here at least once a week, sometimes 2 or 3 times. My go to is the harvest Salad with the house balsamic vinaigrette (wow, it's awesome), the Chicken Club is also really good. Great place to go and grab a beer as they have a great selection, and watch a game. Staff and ownership are amazing. read more

My friends and I wanted to meet somewhere in the middle of all our locations and we found The Corner Tavern. The first time was great and so for our next special lunch we went back . This place is so great. First of all the original tavern was opened in 1911! It was renamed to preserve its historical identity. The minute you step up to the door you can see details that are wonderful. Inside it is warm, comfy ,welcoming, and a delight to look at.. the ceiling, the floor, the bar. The food is casual and delicious, and the drinks are awesome. Everything is made to order and comes to the table hot. We cannot fathom how the wonderful owner is making a profit. We each had drinks..I'm talking glass of wine (yes a GENEROUS pour) and two cocktails, a large wings appetizer, three mains, including a large burger, two fabulous big grilled cheeses with bacon and tomato, all comes WITH fries and pickle and the bill was under $90. And this is the kind of detail you might think strange (we're older what can I say) you know when you get wings they always give you celery? And the celery is ALWAYS awful? Old, tired, sometimes brown at the edges? The celery with our wings , both times we were there was perfect, fresh, crispy. I mean come on. It's an unbelievably easy on and off the highway. This is another place that I visit almost every Friday afternoon yet never check in. I just feel happy when I walk in the door here. It's nostalgia combined with the company I am meeting- it just makes me smile. I've been coming to Corner Tavern for years and always have a great time! Everything from the service, food/drinks and music/entertainment is on point. The atmosphere is awesome here. The interior is original construction and love that it's very different from other pubs. I just get a cozy feeling being inside. I Love when they do karaoke night. They have a great selection of beer and hard alcohol. A friend I was with was surprised they had one the other night that she never finds at other bars. It's a nice mix of patrons, all ages and types. I always feel very comfortable here and have an awesome night. They also decorate for holidays which is always fun when businesses get in the spirit! I was there just a few days ago and had mozzarella sticks, wings and tenders. They were so good, I've been thinking about them since then. I think I'm going to get myself some more today! :) This place is one of those where you could easily drive by every day, not knowing what you're missing. Stopped in just for a drink with the wife. Positives: the interior has been cleaned up nicely, server (Courtney) was very friendly and personable, great line up of craft brews and reasonably priced. Negatives: They need to do something with the ventilation it smelled very badly of grease it was really bad, I noticed before I even took a sip my pint glass had a crack along the rim and I brought it to our servers attention and she very apologetically took my beer away and proceeded to pour it out of the broken glass right into another pint glass instead of pouring a fresh one. A welcoming aura and a great mixed crowd, From seasoned beer drinkers to kids getting plowed. New ownership, but the same building that my 60-year old mother used to go to drink when she was 18. The owners have done a great job of maintaining the classic, classy interior from the original construction: textured ceilings and walls, a big oak bar, and huge vintage urinals in the men's bathroom! I was pretty excited to pee when the time came. The beer selection is the best you are going to find in Naugatuck. Stouts, IPAs, Tripels, Ciders ($5-7)...They also have Bud Light ($3.25), but if you drink that stuff you are dead to me. Beer selection included some local Connecticut breweries including my favorite, New England Brewing Co. Sea Hag and 668: Neighbor of the Beast. Do it. A great place to try a new brew (that rhymed, tee-hee) This is a little simple bar that is a great place to catch a game. As soon as a keg is tapped a new beer that you may not be familiar with is up on the board and ready for you to try! I've had several different brews since they opened last year, and there is always something for a beer person to enjoy ie. IPAs, lagers, stouts, etc. My fav recently is the Breckinridge Oatmeal Stout. If you're looking for mixed drinks, or wine..well, of course they have that too! My favorite dishes are the nachos that are a meal in itself, and their salads. They make their own homemade dressing and it really compliments their food. Tara and Ryan have done an excellent job with this place and this is by far my favorite place to go to just hang, relax, enjoy a good brew and spend time with friends. Love this bar. We go in maybe once or twice a week to grab a beer/app on Tuesday nights for trivia (come down at 8 p.m. and try to beat our team), or grab a quick bite for for dinner. Also have karaoke on Wed/Sat and, on occasion, live music on Fridays. The inside is mostly original dating back til god knows when. Great atmosphere with a huge crowd of regulars. The food is largely your normal pub fare, like sandwiches and burgers, but my favorite is actually a salad. I get the harvest salad about 50% of the time. Fresh romaine with grilled chicken, and LOADED with walnuts, bleu cheese, craisins, and sliced apple. It comes with some pita wedges and balsamic vinaigrette on the side. Really really good, and light to save some room for the real reason you come here - the beer. You will be hard pressed to find such a great rotating selection at such reasonable prices. The Corner has approximately 30-35 beers on tap at all times. Some are mainstays (NEBCO Sea-Hag, Two Roads Hef, Guinness, and a couple others) but about 80% of the beer menu is constantly changing. At no point in time will you find less than a third of the beer menu from local brewers (not just two roads and NEBCO, but newer places like Relic, Firefly, Beer'd and so on). They also get tougher-to-find brews like Sip, Goose Island Bourbon, and Fuzzy more often than other bars in the area. I love that I can go in there weekly and try something I have never had before. I have seen some comments about cold service, but I can say this has never happened to me or anyone I know. For the real craft beer lover, this place is for you. read more

"16 Beers on Tap" The Corner Tavern, originally known as The Old Corner Cafe is a landmark in Naugatuck. I believe it was established well over 60 years ago. A friend of ours happened to be there and asked us to come meet her and a friend. Right before she called, we were trying to decide what we wanted to do so we figured why not. This is a cool neighborhood bar that looks like it hasn't changed since it was built a long time ago. But everything is well kept and clean. I was surprised by the awesome list of 16 beers on tap. I had an Ommegang Saison Rose and my wife had a Yuengling. They have a nice variety of typical bar food on the menu and the owner does a great job preparing everything. I ordered a dozen hot wings and my wife ordered the black bean burger with onion rings. Those were the best wings I've had in a while. Served with carrots and celery and a choice of ranch or blue cheese dressing. The buffalo sauce was very tasty. It wasn't crazy spicy but just enough. The black bean burger had excellent flavor. But my wife and I both felt that the texture was mushy. The onion rings were great. Good food, good beer, and close to home The Corner Tavern is a winner. read more

This place is newly opened after being renovated and it's now one of the best places in the area. Competing with Pies & Pints for largest number of taps, these guys hold their owns and I think their food is much better than Pies & Pints. They have a big board of beers that's always changing. The prices are excellent, usually only $5 for an obscure beer is unheard of, yet these guys do it. Sometimes a beer is $6 but still, not a huge deal. This place is a beer aficionado's paradise. They also do food here and I've had a burger which was great and I loved that it was on ciabatta bread. The wings and fries here are also really good. I came here on a slow Saturday afternoon. Corner Tavern is situated on a corner, in a humble neighborhood right off Rte. 8. The craft beer selection is great and the prices are too. They seem to branch out a little bit with their spirit offerings, for those not into beer. The food menu is simple; that of a typical bar/tavern. My friend and I each ordered different burgers and both thought they were great, and again, fairly priced. The bartender and other staff working were friendly. If you look at my profile, I don't give out many 5-star reviews. Sure there are bars and restaurants that have terrific food, excellent service, and amazing decor - but you probably are paying a lot of money for those things. One of the best places in the area to find amazing and unique craft beers, and they aren't too expensive. When I come here, I try as many as I can without getting too soused. They offer pub food selections as well as salads, wraps, and kids meals. The food is excellent, priced well, and the portions are large. A great place to come with friends for a night out. read more

If I lived closer to Naugatuck, this would be my regular come-and-hang-out tavern. It's got an amazing beer list, solid pub food offerings, a welcoming interior, and just a warm feel to the place. I really like it. I do have something of a bias toward the Corner Tavern: one owner is married to a friend of mine, and the other owner is married to another friend of mine. So when I first came to visit, I really wanted to like the place. Have I mentioned that I do? The draft list is long, varied, and regularly revised. I came opening night, and my jaw immediately dropped on reading the board. The biggest challenge for me each time, in fact, has been choosing among the options, which force me to ask, "What am I in the mood for tonight, really?" The food is quite good. Went here for the first time this weekend. There was a great atmosphere and very friendly staff. Food was tasty, I want to try every burger on the menu. Here is what we had: App - House-Made hummus and sweet potato fries. Dinner was salads and wraps (but like i said i need to try the burgs). Now the beer list: WOW; Craft Beer for everyone. The night I went had there were two ciders, porters, stouts, local NEB, IPAs, double IPA, seasonals and standards like Rogue Dead Guy.
