    Blackened Chicken Caesar Salad

We had a really nice meal here recently. This is in a great spot in the downtown area of Wallingford. The inside is decorated with some cool vintage images and advertisements from Ireland. The service was very friendly! It wasn't particularly busy when we came in (Happy Hour-ish) and our server was also tending bar. She did a great job keeping up with the bar and a couple of tables. The food was really good. We started off with the pretzel bites and the dipping sauces were excellent; tasted like they made them. My wife went with a blacked chicken Caesar which she enjoyed. My Salmon BLT was excellent! Good cut of salmon, excellent ingredients and a good size portion as you can see in the picture. This is a really nice local spot and worth going to. They put a lot of care into the food that they prepare.

Newly opened, taking over Tap & Vine space. Not much changed inside (and it really didn't have to), but the addition of some odds & ends provides a nice, comfortable surrounding. There's a deer head on the wall in the dining room and we thought having it staring at us while we ate was a turnoff. A Friday evening at 6:30, we saw a mic set up so thought maybe some live music. No. It was karaoke, unadvertised. Friday at dinner time is not the time for karaoke-another turnoff. There wasn't a beer or drink menu. Very odd. Our waitress, who was good, told us what they had on tap. Guinness and Smithwick, as expected, but nothing else exciting, although, the table next to us got a can of some version of Guinness (not traditional), so they may have other cans and bottles. Full bar but no specific drinks mentioned anywhere. The food? We started with Irish pierogis. They were very good. I tried to get recommendation between the salmon BLT and the burger, but the waitress didn't bite, which is fine. I got the salmon BLT. It was served on toasted marble rye. Every component tasted very good, however, it wasn't possible to really eat it as a sandwich. The rye was falling apart before it was even on the table, the thick white base piece of lettuce caused it to come apart. Again, tastes very good. It came with choice of hand cut fries, mashed potatoes or side salad. I got the fries. Unfortunately, they were overcooked. The few that weren't were very good. We saw fries delivered to the table next to us that were perfect, so this was disappointing. My wife got the fish & chips, typically a safe bet and signature of a pub like this. It came with slaw, too. Unfortunately, the fish was overcooked and tasted like what a bandaid smells like. (It's a chemical reaction of yeast.). The Cole slaw was also not good, on the verge of being rancid. We were offered a replacement and got the Feta Quinoa bowl, which was very fresh and good, except that the lemon overpowered it a bit so the dressing, if homemade, needs more honey. For dessert we took home a piece of the chocolate pecan bread pudding which was also good, but a bit dry. One last note, they charged a credit card use fee, not something mentioned on the menu, which is not a patron-friendly practice and a bit deceptive. I may go back to try the Shepherds Pie and/or burger.

My friend and I went to the soft opening tonight of Malachys. Used to be the old dublin's restaurant. Was nonstop people and everyone was very excited about the new restaurant. We were seated quickly and the vibe was great. The food was fresh and came out quickly. The beer was cold. I completely forgot to take a picture of our fish and chips which we shared. Towards the end of our visit we got to meet Kelly , the owner. She asked what we thought, and we told her what an enjoyable evening we had. Thanks Kelly for such a great meal.

HUGE portions and delicious food -- including spice bags, which we've been looking for everywhere!! Also, the shepherd's pie is to die for

The food was so delicious. We will go back to eat. The bartender was frankly and not very friendly.

Cool spot. Love the vibe. Dinning room is crowded and food is poor. I'd go to grab a beer but I'd plan on skipping dinner here

I'm happy to report the Guinness here tastes very fresh and smooth with no bitterness.
