I called to request an appointment for my mom. I first asked the worker if the doctor was accepting new patients. She responded with: what insurance does your mom have? I let her let know she has a PPO so she responded with: does she has a medi-medi. I do not work in the medical field to know what a medi-medi is. And told her. She then responded rudely asking : what I needed. If I am calling to ask if the doctor is taking new patients, it is more than clear an appointment is the request. 12/7/2024 12/7/2024 The purpose of this review is sincerely express my belated appreciation and gratitude for the excellent care I have received from Dr.Grant Lee at Cornerstone Eye Center in Rowland Heights more than ten years. In any hospital or Doctor's office, one can expects competent care, clean area, good quality treatments, and patient centered service. I have received all but more. Since I first met Dr. Lee in his Rowland Heights office more than ten years ago, he has continued to make efforts to pay attention to my concerns and questions and unfailingly execute his "patient first belief." First, one of the main reasons to see Dr. Lee was unusual eye floaters in which spots in vision that looked like black or gray specks that drift across the both eyes, and a light flash in both eyes which lead visual disturbance. He listened patiently and carefully to my concerns and provided concise, precise answers to my questions. He emphasized that my floaters and flash will eventually go away as it is treated by medication and time. Another symptom was mild development of glaucoma. Dr. Lee suggested that medication BRINZOLAMIDE to lower my intra ocular pressure (IOP) so that glaucoma symptoms may delay its progression. Furthermore Dr. Lee explained complex medical concepts in a way that I can understand completely. Although glaucoma is not completely curable, but there are ways to slow down its progression and protect my visions. Also, he emphasized my healthy life style, toward dry eye symptoms treatment and exercise to maintain proper body weight which led reduce eye pressure. With compassion, sincerity, empathy, forthright, and respect, Dr. Lee works closely to me in collaborative way. I believe he try his best to help me navigate the pathways towards the best possible health outcomes and quality of life shared decision making throughout a decade. After he carefully examined her eyes, Dr. Lee concluded that her symptoms were retina issues, so he immediately sent her to see DR. HEATHER CHANG in City of industry. Thanks to his rapid response and Dr. Chang's treatment, she completely cured and that she keep maintaining good eye health. Now I know Dr. Grant Lee is a great doctor not only he is master of his field of ophthalmology consistently achieves excellent outcome but adapt new technologies to serve better to customers who come to the CORNER STONE EYE CENTER. During my visit to Dr. Lee, even though I ask many questions, not one of my questions or concerns went unanswered. My Father had cataract surgery for one of his eyes, in January thjs year and my dad was very happy with how it came out and went back to meet with Dr. Lee about when he can get the other eye done. However, my parents were totally surprised and appalled by Dr. Lee's rude behavior. His lack of respect, dignity and sensitivity to my parents left them feeling worthless. He wants them to use out of pocket cash to perform the second eye. When my mother explained to him that both eyes were approved my the insurance, he became even more rude and dismissed them. The next day, the front office called my mother to say that Dr. Lee does not want to perform surgery on my dad at all. This is how older individuals get taken advantage of, when physicians try to go around the insurance and state "it's not covered" and want to be paid in cash. Shame on him and his office!! read more

Dr. Lee has been very professional all throughout my visits. My first consultation for cataract removal went very well, the eye surgery took no more than half an hour and I was on my way home the same day. My parents have been going to doctor Grant for 3 years. My dad has been going to him and his service was okay, not fantastic just okay. But today, both my parents went together and just experienced the most worst case ever. Doctor Grant was not only rude, but he was basically telling my mom that she needs surgery for Cataract only if it's uncomfortable in the most rudest way. With our financial status not being that great after COVID, my mom asked him if her insurance would cover. He replied with the rudest way possible that you can think of and said "if you have expensive and good insurance then it's a given thing." You just know when someone is talking down on you based on our financial basis. My parents understood that when they went in for their appointment, they were busy with other patients. But that is NOT the way to speak to your patients. After hearing this from my parents, I was fuming. How can you go about saying things like that to your patients? Doctor Grant probably expected that my parents will NEVER come to his center ever again. Would not recommend this place at all.. Total rip off... scam... and they'll fool you by saying its only 130 for first visit plus the glucaoma exam! Took my mom for her eye exam for glucaoma... She originally have a doctor out in LA that shes been going for three years... The driving was getting too much for us so we were looking for some place near by... My moms doctor recommend this place for us to go.. Mom called to ask how much it'll be for her to get her eyes checked for glaucoma they told her $130 which was suppose to include the first visit charge too... Figured we pay $60 in LA and to save us gas its worth paying the extra money to cjange doctor so we go and get her tested and all that.. We got up to the front to pay and they said our total was $250.... My mom and my mouth dropped as they were trying to point finger at us by saying glaucoma testing is $130 and doctors first visit is $120... Shouldn't a visit to see an eye doctor include doctors fee?? I just don't get their concept of $120 initial visit fee for doctor and another $130 for exam fee... If we had known about the doctors fee there was no need for us to change doctor... All we had to pay was drive to LA and pay her original doctor $60... My mom called several times to make sure if we can bring all the medical records to avoid the extra charge and they told her we dont take other doctors notes... But they had the nerve to tell us that we didnt have to pay the initial cost if we had brought the medical records from the previous doctor.. I know that it cost you arm and a leg to become a doctor but you cant food a customer by saying "yea its going to be $130" and make them come and charge them more than double from what was originally quoted... I have really bad vision (-9) and heavy astigmatism. On top of that, I've been using this product called NeuLash that makes my eyelashes grow (please don't judge me). I haven't had any issues with it until recently where my eyelids felt really sore and painful. I started freaking out and wanted to see a doctor immediately. I usually go to Kaiser in West LA, but I'm rarely there on weekends. I came across this clinic during my many visits to "Gamja-Gol" (lol) and wanted to check it out. I jotted down the number old school style and made an appointment. I'm so glad I came here because Dr. Lee was very knowledgeable and he reassured me that my eyes were going to be okay. Dr. Lee graduated from Stanford and UCLA med school so I felt like I was in good hands. Even though Dr. Lee probably spends majority of his time doing complicated surgeries for patients with real eye issues, he took his time examining my eyes very carefully and thoroughly. The receptionists were extremely efficient, friendly and professional. They were able to get me an appointment with Dr. Lee quickly. Also, the office is modern and clean, yet warm. I first met Dr Lee and his staff, almost 4 years ago. I had cataracts forming, and glaucoma worsening in my right eye. Night driving was becoming problematic, and seeing 'golf balls in flight' was then spotty at best, and deteriorating. Everything, about my vision was changing (for the worse)! Dr. Lee confirmed all this, and said 'we would have to decide' at some point, when surgery would be needed. I went in every few months for him to check the pressure behind my eyes (for the glaucoma), and finally I decided it had worsened to the point, my vision was negatively impacting my quality of life. Doctor told me, that he expected great results, from 'the cataracts' that I had, and would do a glaucoma procedure, to help with that as well. Finally, my surgery was scheduled. Then, CoronaVirus emerged publicly, attacked America, and all elective surgeries of this sort, were cancelled. Rescheduled again for April, also cancelled, finally, I was to be the first surgery May 20 (2020). We (Dr Lee) did my right eye first, as it was the worst, with the glaucoma. The left eye, was then done June 25th. The results, are nothing short of (a miracle) for me! I've now got 20/20 vision, and the pressure is way down, from the Glaucoma. Doctor said we'd check 'that' once in a while, but likely I'd never have to take the daily (forever) eye-drops for glaucoma. Last time into the office, Doctor Lee said my eyes had healed 'beautifully', and he was pleased with the results! I, am so happy, there are no words. To regain my vision in my mid sixties, is truly a wonderful gift and exceeded my expectations. I remember older guys, when I was a young man, who struggled always in the days before such surgery was such a precise science, as it is now! I'm still getting used 'to not wearing glasses' in everyday life. Still, sometimes in the morning, I wonder 'where did I leave my glasses'? I'm certain I'll get over 'that' soon enough! I'll still need reading glasses (cheaters) for reading and computers. But, if the book is several feet away from me, I can read the small print clearly! :-) Also, I can now see every golf ball I hit clearly, and don't lose them in cloudy skies at all, like before the surgeries! Truly amazing! I'm going to add here, that last fall, amidst my treatment from Dr Lee, I mentioned to him, that I wondered about my wife (only 10 months younger than me), and her eyesight. I wondered if she might need similar eye surgery too! He just smiled, and said for me to bring her along with me, on my next appointment, and he would check her eyes! We came in for my next appointment, he checked her eyes fully, and he said "bring her back in, in about 10 years, and we'll take another look! Her eyes are fine (in regards to cataract & glaucoma)!" And that was that! Also, I want to most emphatically thank Doctor Lee's staff and nurses. From the beginning, they all treated me wonderfully, and professionally! Dr. Grant and his staff are terrific they are very friendly and there is a large comfortable waiting area and the exam rooms are super clean and spacious. I have no idea why there are two such negative reviews yes a wait at a doctor's office is typical these days ever been to Kaiser you're lucky if you get out of there with half your day intact! If the doctor is thorough and has a lot of patients and he is getting repeat business this means he is doing something right which is what Dr. Grant is exactly doing. I have a very persistent dry eye Dr. Grant guided me how to expertly handle it with OTC medication without costly prescription meds. He was friendly and explained to me the benefits of preservative free and preservative artificial tears. The staff also quickly and smoothly diagnosed my vision and the paperwork is actually fairly easy and minimal to fill out (just one page). 5 STARS to anyone that is looking for an Ophthalmologist in the area!!! Dr. Lee took care of my mother with a severe chemical burn of the eye. He kept his office open after regular hours to see her immediately after the injury. He meticulously and compassionately cared for her eye injury and applied appropriate treatments to maximize her chance for recovery. He personally contacted another eye specialist and arranged for a referral for a specialized treatment at an academic center when it became necessary. He assessed her progress on a regular basis and provided care until the acute injury was taken care of. Dr. Lee is an excellent and compassionate physician. At 38 years old, I never thought I would have to see an ophthalmologist. Then one day my eye started irritating me. Before I knew it, my eye was red and it looked like I had something in my eye. I tried washing it out, but nothing changed. Everyone who looked at it described it as a clear plastic bubble. The crazy thing was, it was on my eyeball!!! I called Dr. Lee's office (my dad is a patient) and was able to get an appointment right away. When I got to the office, I was greeted by the friendly office manager. After completing my new patient forms and taking care of insurance info, I waited to be called. Within 5 minutes I was escorted into an examination room by a nurse. The nurse took my vitals and gave me a eye pressure test. It was weird, but painless. Soon after Dr. Lee, came in and examined my eyes. He was able to tell me right away that it was a type of cyst. After he put me at ease, explained treatment, and gave me a prescription. Within a couple days, the cyst "disappeared". Dr. Lee informed me it can return, but with a plan of future treatment. Anything involving the eyes scares me, but I'm really happy I went to see Dr. Lee. He was professional, personable, and informative. I will definitely visit his office again. read more

Dr. Lee is a really great opthalmologist. I was referred here by an optometrist. At first, I was skeptical of coming here since I already have an existing opthalmologist who I go to. However, after coming to see Dr. Lee, I am now going to switch opthalmologists and become a patient of Dr. Lee's for several reasons. The first reason is because Dr. Lee is extremely personable and the staff is very warm when you come in. Dr. Lee took the time to answer all of my questions and made sure I understood what was going on with my condition. I did not feel rushed at all unlike other physicians I have seen in the past. Dr. Lee is a fantasic Ophthalmologist. He's friendly, caring, knowledgeable and patient. His staff is also friendly, nice and professional. Every time my mom and I visit Dr. Lee's, he's always very friendly and smiling. He was patient, explained everything and always asked if we had any questions. My mom has been seeing Dr. Lee for a couple of years now. He was recommended by another Ophthalmologist for my mom's special case. My mom had really bad eye sight (legally blind), multiple retina detachment surgeries and cataracts in both of her eyes. Dr. Lee took on the task of removing the cataracts. He carefully monitored my mom's eyes and recommended the optimal time to do the cataracts surgery as to avoid side affects from my mom's retina detachment surgery. To help my mom see better after the cataract surgery, Dr. Lee recommended placing a lens in my mom's eye that did not have the retina detachment surgery. Now my mom can see far quite well in that eye and I'm very grateful for Dr. Lee's help. Life is so much easier now that my mom can see on her own. My mom and I highly recommend Dr. Lee! read more

This is a review for my mother, who received surgery from Dr Lee for a multifocal lens and is so happy. She was complaining about not being able to see well despite changing her glasses over and over and finally went to go see him for a consultation. I brought my grandma to Dr. Lee and she loves him so much that she wants to come see him for her eye care for the rest of her life! She usually goes to an ophthalmologist in koreatown but the drive out there was getting too much and one of her friends recently recommended Dr. Lee. She is now a big fan of his, saying that he is very gentle with her and explains everything clearly and thoroughly (the staff informed us that he is trilingual and can speak korean and Spanish too). He also is good at calming her down bc my grandma can be very anxious when she goes to her dr appts and other doctors can make her more fearful and worried, but Dr. Lee was very good at reassuring her. He gave a lot of samples so she was also happy about that! My experience was mostly with the staff to call for an appointment and they were friendly to me so no complaints there. We are going to see the dr anyway not to see the staff. Oh one thing is that the waiting room was packed but we didn't have to wait nearly as long as I've had to wait in koreatown so another plus for my grandma! She's been telling everyone about Dr. Lee and all her grandma friends are excited to go haha. But in all seriousness, Dr. Lee is a well accomplished doctor with a lot of training (they handed us bio cards so I read that he went to Stanford and ucla med school and all that) and if my parents get eye problems too as they age or for me too, I will follow my grandma's recommendation and come here! read more
