I had an appointment with the ophthalmologist on 3/3/25, and the entire experience has been a NIGHTMARE from start to finish. First, it was nearly impossible to even make the appointment--I was on hold for close to 4 hours just to get scheduled. When I finally arrived at the office, the receptionist claimed they hadn't received the authorization from my PCP--even though that form was required for me to even book the appointment in the first place. After I had my PCP resend the authorization directly to them, the office then told me my insurance was not valid. As someone who works in HR and processes employee benefits, I knew this made no sense. Because I was in so much pain, I paid upfront just to see the doctor and planned to sort out the insurance later. My insurance claim was processed and paid on 4/11/25, but as of 9/15/25 I still haven't received my refund for the upfront payment. To make matters worse, the reception staff and billing department were extremely rude and unhelpful. I've been calling every two weeks for the past five months, and no one has provided any real updates or resolution. Avoid this place at all costs. Between the unprofessional staff, lack of communication, and failure to issue refunds in a timely manner, this has been one of the worst healthcare experiences I've ever had. read more

During my visit the doctor mentioned he has more severe cases than me. I hope they receive more attention and bedside manner than I encountered. I came in to be seen for eye dryness symptoms. The visit felt very dismissive of my concerns. The assessment plan the office handed me upon leaving indicated the presence of diabetes type 2 and that this doctor was happy to report I had no sign of diabetic retinopathy and encouraged right glucose control. However, I am not prediabetic. I cried reading the print out of this assessment. It's a whole new level of dismissive when you write down prediabetic when there is none. The visit was rushed and a memory that I hope to forget someday but it is about half a year later at the time I write this and it still hurts to think about. I hope no one else experiences anything similar to this. read more

The doctor was kind and treated me well. The two girls at the front desk were kind. The girl that orders the glasses is rude, unprofessional, unpleasant never smiled back, she appears to be mad like she doesn't know what she's doing. Does not speak unless spoken to. She was not helpful when I was looking for a pair of frames and when my glasses were ready for pick up she couldn't find them and asked me if I am sure that I received a message saying that my glasses were ready for pickup. She found them and just handed them to me. I said "is that it" she said "yes". She didn't ask me to try them on. I can't wear them because they press up against the bridge of my nose. I called and was told that there is only one girl who works in that department and she only works on Thursdays and was told that to call next Thursday. I will never go back and I definitely do not recommend. read more

Incompetent and rude staff refuse to download EDD form and make blind patients drive to their office to drop off a paper because they believe it's not their responsibility to help patients who are blind receive disability after surgery. Refuse to provide fax or email and insist that it must be hand delivered. The staff have No bedside manner for the patients the doctors treat. It's unfortunate that they make it so difficult for people they know can't see. read more

I had appointment at 8/12/2024 which I set up this appointment 3 month ago. And they text me to confirm 8/12/2024 on 8/5/2024 . I did text back to confirm Yes. And I went there 8:38a. They told me that appointment has been changed to 8/16/2024. They said they call on 8/8/2024 and left messages on my phone. I did not get any missed call at that day even my voice mail. They should have text me as well if they want to change my appointmen. It's very bad experience with them. read more

The problem I have such as other reviews you can't get through to the office and when you leave a message that's if you can do that, it takes weeks before they get back to you. Strictly just for the front staff. Searched for place to see an optometrist and tried calling to make an appointment. They are usually booked 2-3 weeks out so make sure to keep that in mind when you want an appointment. Also make sure you clarify which location you end up having your appointment at. I got a call confirming my appointment the day before. I end up showing for my appointment early and they state that there was a problem with my insurance and that there was no authorization. The lady in the front claimed to have called me to ask about it but I never got a call or voicemail. She handed me paperwork to fill out if I considered returning as a patient after I get the authorization. As I walked in I overheard a couple people in the waiting room sigh complaining about being here for over half an hour to just check on glasses. My mom is a cancer patient and suffering from glaucoma and Can't see well and needs urgently her eye glasses and I called them more than 8 times and left messages and no response! I had a really nice experience last year. They called me few weeks ago and reminded me of my annual check up. I received NUMEROUS calls and texts of the appt for check up. When I arrived, the girl at the door did not greet me and was somewhat cold and distant. Gave me a check in sheet and took my temperature. I waited about 10-15 min and then was told my insurance expired. Well, all of this confusion and wasted time can be resolved if they were to check on my insurance before reaching out for annual check up or even with all the calls and texts, they should've checked. The staff is very friendly and the doctor who say me was very young but to my surprise, very knowledgeable and informative! I really liked the doctor, he is great at his job. However, I did not have a great experience. They told me that they did not accept my insurance even though I found them through my insurance. There was a mix up on their part and I went back inside to explain to them what my insurance provider told me over the phone. Finally, they were able to find my insurance and accept it. But they were charging me over $100 to see me so I left because Costco has a better price. The doctor ran out after me and apologized for the mix up and offered to see me for $10. Who wouldn't take up that offer?!! So I accepted and let them see me. 3 months later, I receive a bill for $356! What the hell! Long story short, I called and they said they would look into it and give me a call back the following day. No one ever called me. Will I go back? Never. Make sure you get correct information before you get seen here and have them write down and sign what they tell you so you don't screwed in the end like I did. read more

Acuity Eye group fit me in for an appointment quickly on short notice for a potentially serious detached retina. Dr. Tran was very pleasant, informative and very thorough in initially discovering the injury in an obscure area that could have been missed without closer examination. Dr. Chang missed the detached retina injury initially, but confirmed the diagnosis upon Dr. Tran's guidance in locating the retinal detachment. Immediate laser surgery following the exam by. Dr Chang treated the area from further retinal detachment. The 4 star rating was I felt they may be over booking and rushing their patients which could cause a less thorough examination. However under the stat circumstances I appreciated that they fit me in quickly and got treated immediately. read more

My experience with Acuity Eye Group-Rowland Heights/City of Industry was less than ideal on several accounts. Initially, I purchased my frames (with enhancements) on March 27, 2023 and this is with paying an additional ~$130 dollars to have my frames/glasses customized to my specifications. After a week, I called the place and they notified me they would have my frames for me to pickup in roughly 1 week. At this point in time, I'm expecting my frames (after 2 weeks), to no avail. After three weeks and what I considered 'covid mishaps', I heard nothing from the group, and I figured I'd give them another week or so (a month from the date of purchase) to contact me. I'd heard nothing after a month and I began to call the optician, who apparently works ONLY on Thursdays, and she told me she'd 'look into it and give me a call back'. After not hearing anything from this person after a week, I'd call weekly (on Thursdays) and she gave me the same response for at least 6 consecutive weeks. At this juncture, I decided it was a good idea to give my insurance company a call to assist in the matter, as either the optician (not optometrist) did not seem willing/able to do her job. Fast forward to the last week of June (roughly 3 months after the initial purchase of the glasses, and my insurance company insisting that the optician do their job), I was told my glasses would be available for pickup the first week of July. I finally picked up my glasses the first week of July, and to the credit of the optician, they were the right frames with the enhancements I'd specified; however, the prescription was wrong. I returned the glasses the same day after realizing the prescription for the glasses rendered my vision worse than my original vision, and the optician insisted that I see the optometrist again. I'm baffled and amazed at the inability of the optician to do their job and I've requested a refund. I would not recommend this Eye Group to any individual that values their time and patience. read more

This office was a little bit of a drive for me but the doctor schedule worked with what was in my network. I brought my kids with no sitter I was debating on rescheduling when I walked in this office I felt so welcomed not only was I greeted but my children as well. They immediately asked them what movie they like to watch and had a conversation edith my son regarding gaming. He's 8. The whole visit was smooth and all staff were really nice. I was in the office for a broken blood vessel in my eye. I poked myself while removing contact lens. The staffs were kind. Waiting time was reasonable. They wiped all surfaces between patients. The nurses or assistants verbally explained everything on what they were doing, what to expect, why they had to do it, etc. Dr. Wainess was nice and professional too. It turns out I have subconjunctival hemorrhage and I just had to look scary until the blood in my eye clears itself. :) read more

I had a great experience. Office is clean and they do sanitize the seats and equipment. They also check the temperature when you first get to the door and they all have mask on. II went in for glasses, he cought something else w my eyes. He does want to see me back in 6 months. They made sure to give me a copy of what he found so I could take it to my doctor. The doctor responded favorably after so many questions. Had patience with me. Now they referred me to two more specialty doctors.
