My husband and I were traveling from Portland, OR to Monterey, CA when we heard this bang, then a rush of air came at us from our air blower then a scraping noise started under our car. We pulled off the highway onto an old back road and I got under the front of the car to see what the problem was (my ex was a mechanic so I know what to look for). I found the bolt that holds the aluminum splash plate that covers the oil pan had come off on one side on the front and the air pressure had sucked it out and down which caused it to scrape along the road and was a bit torn up. I figured I just needed to attach it whatever way I could to get it back in place until we found a garage the next day. I found a caribeener and some heavy duty string and my hubby tied it into the hole where the bolt came out as I'd had a hand fracture and couldn't maneuver well. The next morning we looked to see where the closest car repair place was near the Holiday Inn Express hotel where we stayed the night before and drove to Corning Auto Center. I walked in and spoke to office manager Rick and told him the problem. He immediately got his mechanic Jim to look under the car and assess the damage. Jim then proceeded to put in a new bolt and some zip ties to hold the splash plate in place so we could continue on our journey to Monterey until we got it fixed. When I went inside to pay Rick he said just a five or ten dollar tip would be enough as he didn't want to go through the process of using the debit/credit machine. I protested saying the guy who worked on our car should get paid so could I please write a check. He still insisted never mind and Martha, the other office manager said just write us a review on Yelp so I said ok, thanked them and left. This kind of good will service is what keeps bringing customers like myself back and wanting to write a five star review! My wife's car overheated on a road trip. Thankfully we were only a mile from Corning Auto Center. They were able to quickly diagnose the issue as a failed water pump and thermostat, and against the odds completed the work before they closed for the weekend so we could get back on the road. Everyone - from the ladies in the front office, to the mechanics, to the owner, who gave my family a ride to a local hotel - were extremely friendly and went above and beyond to get us back on the road as quickly as possible. I broke down on highway 5 at the Corning off ramp. Called AAA and then started looking for a repair shop, called Corning Auto. They let me know they closed at 6:00PM but I could tow the truck there and they would look at it in the morning. The young lady on the phone also suggested a motel close where I could spend the night. I called a bit before they opened to let them know that it was my vehicle and keys that were left. Fantastic service and stuff! I was on my way to WA, and my car started overheating on the freeway. I added some coolant, but the engine temperature lamp kept lit on. I called them, and they let me squeeze in between appointments. Jim did a diagnostic and found out the radiator had a big crack. They found a radiator for me, but it seemed difficult to get one and replace it before they closed the store because it was already afternoon and the radiator was away from town. But Jim even offered to stay after their closing time to make sure I could return to the road on the same day because they knew I needed to arrive in WA to start my new job in a few days. O'Reilly's Corning store staff delivered a radiator in a few hours, and the car got fixed in the evening! I appreciate all the help; this was my best experience with an auto repair shop. read more

Came in today worried because my car is not running well. Im visiting corning CA today and I was in need of a shop to fix my car because I need to get back to Richmond CA. It's a long drive. I go inside and they took me in. Had paper work ready to sign and all. As soon as I ask them if they are reliable for any damages paint wise or interior. They lady ask me "what do you mean? Like suspension wise?" And I said no like cosmetics damages. Later the she leaves the room and I hear her telling her manager and a tech that I said this and that. Later the manager refuses the service and tells me "that's ridiculous" How is it ridiculous that I worry about my things I work hard for and worry about damage. I had bad experience and I keep my mouth shut but this was the last straw. I really the owner sees this and takes the time to sit down and talk to employees and show them some respect and to be humble. They fixed our issue in about 2 hours and while we waited, they drove us down the street so we could wait at a restaurant. They're so amazing. My family (husband, 3 year old, dog, and myself) were driving from Modesto back home to Portland when we broke down in Corning. Corning Auto Center was the nearest shop to us and we didn't even realize how blessed we were for that. The individuals that work here are some of the kindest souls I've ever come across. They took us in 30 min before close, but not before helping us find a place to stay and getting my dog some water. They shuttled us to super8 to get some rest and gave us a recommendation for food in the area. Corning Auto let us know first thing in the morning the news on our car. The gals in the office also did due diligence on our behalf and even called Hyundai to check out our warranty. While it wasn't great news for us and our vehicle's state.. they did above and beyond to help get our family home ASAP. Long story short I can never tell them how thankful we are for them and grateful to have met them. I highly recommend this place. Very honest, nice, competent, helpful people. My partner and I are on a road trip and stopped by because our camper van was making what we thought was a subtly odd noise. The owner took it for a drive and when he came back he didn't think it was anything out of the ordinary for a '94. He checked out the engine, the fluids, gave me a few tips on future maintenance and didn't charge a dime! Van has been running great. Ending an awesome vacation at Lake Shasta and on my way home caravaning with 2 other cars (Family and Friends) when my car started to overheat. Thought the worst...Thermostat...Pump, added coolant but apparently not enough. Sent the group home, it was a Sunday so nothing was open. Stayed overnight, Corning Auto looked at it first thing Monday morning. They tested all the components and added even more coolant. Come to find out i didn't add ENOUGH coolant. They did find a small leak though in the radiator. They did the diagnostic and said "No Charge", Martha even shared her M&M's! Very honest and nice people, couldn't take your car to a better place.
