They are always attentive and patient. Both our dogs go there for checkups and nail trims. Greeted with smiles and they truly love animals.

Took my cat here for a dental cleaning. Beforehand, they gave me a form to sign and it has some questions one being a little yes/no checkbox form asking whether I wanted her nails trimmed during the appointment. I suppose I checked "yes" and noted on the side that she's declawed, since I was just filling out the form to get her scheduled. What they never mentioned and what the form doesn't state anywhere I s that the nail trim is an extra charge. The vet had originally only quoted me for the dental service, so this caught me off guard. I would never have added it, especially since it's unnecessary for a declawed cat. When I came to pick her up, I explained this politely and asked them to remove the charge. They refused, and I had to pay for it. I understand charging for services, but billing a customer for something that was never disclosed as a paid add-on isn't right. A quick heads-up, either on the form in person would have avoided this entirely. read more

Traveling with pets can be stressful, and our situation came with extra challenges in both timing and logistics. From the very first phone call to the final approval, Georgi was amazing -- patient, reassuring, and on top of every detail. Dr. Nguyen, Georgi, Louann, Anna, and the entire team were wonderful. Everyone we interacted with was very patient in the span of about 2 weeks, going back and forth to fulfill the requirements for the an international health certificate and making sure everything is accurate and true. We couldn't even believe our "feisty" cat, Sheba, had such an uneventful time in the treatment area -- I think she liked Dr. Nguyen and the staff! Dr. Nguyen was also very thorough in performing the exam and noted what their previous vet had missed. She also made great assessments and recommendations for our pets' care in the future. I also never felt judged for being conservative with vaccines/medicines and never pressured to get treatments that were not urgently necessary for this visit. We're so happy to have found a veterinary clinic that handles health certificates in-house, with personalized attention to the documents/paperwork instead of partnering with a third-party service provider. On top of that, their prices are very reasonable without compromising the quality of care and service they provide. Location is beautiful, parking was not a problem at all, waiting area had coffee and it's cool to see the original building structure of the clinic that gives it a cozy/downtown look! Their support made a huge difference during a hectic, life-changing time, and for that reason, we highly recommend Corona Del Mar Animal Hospital to anyone looking for a team that truly goes above and beyond! read more

CDM is the best. Our dog has been dealing with some very intense medical issues, which has required sometimes multiple visits a week. The office is very accommodating and always makes time for us to see somebody. We have seen every dr in the office at this point and they are all great.  At times we felt crazy having to visit so often, but nobody in the office ever made us feel that way. Our dog has always been nervous at previous vet offices but loved going there and would run to the door to see everybody when she realized where we were. I have been taking my dogs there for over 12 years. They just charged me over $2,200 for dental extractions last month. I have continued to be loyal to them over the years. I recently needed a refill on ear medicine for my pets ear infection while I'm out of town and the DR. Refused to give it to me. I'm 3 and half hours away !! I now have to go to a strange Vet while traveling all for a medicine she's been using for years !! No accommodation. I asked her to reconsider and she still won't let the RX be prescribed thru online service. I can get it online asap with her permission. Posatex. She was scheduled to see Dr. in a couple weeks for follow up. No excuse !! Don't waste your money or time investing in the care of your pet with them. My dogs have gotten their shots here for years. I've actually gone here for 20 years! But DO NOT use them if you have a medical issue. My dog, 13, developed seizures out of the blue. Overnight I took him to the ER as recommended by CdM vet Carissa Cruz. The ER told me to follow up with my regular vet, I called Dr. Cruz the next day and she refused to refill any meds the hospital gave me (and said he'd need for life.) Although they had received all his ER records and test results Dr. Cruz refused do ANYTHING for this poor dog who was seizing, crying in pain (so loud the receptionist could hear over the phone, but he didn't care one bit). The receptionist actually lied to me and told me they don't stock a medication that I have gotten filled there before. My dog is suffering for no reason because this practice won't provide the medications that could help him. Zero heart. I just don't get it. AVOID if you love your animal. (And believe me, you'll get a fat bill for whatever ticky tacky things they can charge you for - super overpriced. I used to think it cost a lot bc it was top notch care Simply, they lack the expertise to care for sick animals, just healthy ones.) read more

Corona Del Mar Animal Hospital is an outstanding facility which has my highest rating to provide quality care, with a loving touch, for your pet. Dr. Aiten, chief veterinarian, has cared for my two teacup Pomeranian puppies, for the last 10 years, and he has proven his knowledge and capabilities, again, and again with both of them. For example, recently, George, my little 5 pound guy, and the light of my life, was really struggling and clearly not doing well at all. I took him to a number of specialist veterinarians in the area and no one could figure out what the problem might be. In desperation, I went back to Dr. Aiten and saidhelp! You HAVE to figure out what's wrong with him, because he's going downhill fast. Dr. Aiten tried again and he found it! Sadly George is suffering from terminal kidney failure. However, once diagnosed Dr. Aiten recommended a treatment to slow down the progression of the disease and give George a longer life. The treatment involves daily injections of fluids to help his kidneys work better. This could have been a huge inconvenience and hassle since I am on Lido Isle, 45 minutes from the vet. However , I wish to give my highest commendation to one of Dr. Aitens vet techs, Parisa. Parisa took on the care of George daily, and has been incredibly capable, loving, and reliable in coming to my house every single day in order to give George his injection. Her personal care is the difference between his life and going to doggy heaven now, so she has proven invaluable in giving me more time with my best friend... My senior standard schnauzer was going to a different vet in Newport Beach and he would go to CDM Animal Hospital for grooming services. After years of frustration with the other vet, we decided to switch to CDM. I am so happy we did! My senior fur baby has been suffering from numerous issues and Dr. Hanson and Dr. Aten have been so responsive and understanding. I feel so lucky to have met Dr. Tara Mendez and Parisa at CDM Pet Hospital. My 13 year old yorkie had major eye discharge. I brought him to see Dr. Tara and she was able to give him an eye exam with dye to observe his eye health. She prescribed some drops and said if it didn't improve to see a specialist. We kept him on the drops and his infection greatly diminished. But more than that, it's wonderful to meet caring Vets and that feeling of knowing your pup is getting the treatment they deserve. Great Vets. You have to use a bad vet in order to appreciate a good one. My new kitten went to her old vet three times before I took her to CdM Animal Hospital. The vet at CdM put her under a black light and pronounced her 'covered in ringworm'. Took all of 45 seconds. By that time the kitten's owner, her owner's roommate, and her owner's new boyfriend were also covered in ringworm. Try making that phone call to a new boyfriend. "Really, a little cream will clear that up, no problem" That was 10 years ago. The prices are high BUT average for the neighborhood. I had my cat groomed in July 2008 - lion cut and it was $60. They did a good job. I've posted a picture if you need a good laugh. The busy office can get crowded with pets so make sure you have your cats in a carrier and maybe even small dogs in a kennel. read more

I recently had a very bad situation happen to my Shihtzu at Fashion Island last Wednesday. In a nutshell, my Doggy, Bear, mangled his foot and was bleeding profusely. I drove to the closest pet hospital (which was this place), I walked in crying and very distraught. I told them what had happened and they immediately took my doggy in to be evaluated. I should have taken him to a Urgent Care facility, but they took my doggy in right away! (I WAS SO HAPPY THEY DID) The front office staff and the doctor who took care of Bear were ALL AWESOME! I couldn't be more thankful and grateful for what they did. They took X-ray's and bandaged up Bear so nicely for him to be sent home. They truly care about animals here. The doctor herself even called me back 2 days later to see how Bear was doing!! That. Was. Awesome!! That shows me they care. This is obviously not our primary Vet, but they WOULD be if I lived in the area!!! Definitely a 5 star pet hospital!! THANK YOU! read more

I write this review with a heavy heart. I've been coming to CDM Animal Hospital for close to 20 years. Over the years, Dr. Aton and team have saved a cat, provided lifetime care and end of life services for our husky, and performed emergency surgery on one of our Australian Shepherds after she ate a rock. My parents even drove 45 minutes one way to seek care for their Labrador back in the day. Dr. Aton, Dr. Hanson, and even Dr. Hooykass (it's been that long) as well as their office staff have always been easy to work with, personable, and like part of the family. They've always put customer service first and been accommodating to their clients and pet's needs. A couple years ago, we moved to Lake Forest. Because of the relationship I've had with CDM Animal hospital, I didn't think once of changing vets. We've continued to make the commute. Today however, I think I'm leaving. I requested a refill of a medication we've used over the years as a maintenance for seasonal allergies. Most recently, we've used it to treat a hot spot. There hasn't been an issue refilling this medication in the past, but today I was informed that my dogs have not been seen in over a year, therefore they could not refill it without seeing my dog, administering vaccines, etc. They were last seen 10/30/21 for wellness and rabies, today is 11/9/2022, 10 days past their threshold. I explained that we were in the middle of hot spot treatment which was almost gone so I'd hate to lose momentum by not having the refill. I was told that refilling this prescription would be unethical and violates their oath for care. Regardless that it could leave my pet vulnerable and in discomfort. I was provided no alternative and quite honestly, surprised by the associate's response and lack of empathy, accommodation and overall well being of my pet. Especially with something that has been so simply refilled in the past. The hard stance and tough girl attitude I received was surprising and not the kind of care or communication I've ever received form this team. As I look up vets in my area now, I stumble across a website for CDM Animal Hospital, however it's not the one I've always known. It redirects to a company called "Thrive Petcare" which seems to take over your practice with promises of growth and prosperity. It make sense now why there's new doctors and office staff I've never heard of...and why the attitude has changed. I hope Dr. Aton can instill in his new team the core values that made his local business a success so that they can understand what it means to be part of the community, and provide it with empathy and customer service. read more

Thank you Corona Del Mar Pet Hospital!!! Dr. Hanson and your beautiful staff are godsends I have just been through an extremely hard time my sister's emergency diagnosis of terminal stage of rectal cancer that just ended in death last week. I was panicked emotionally with bringing in my dog who is 13 and an extremely small 2.6 pound Yorkie that is a dangerous high risk going under anesthesia. My worst fear was she wouldn't wake up. My second fear was if she did, she would be traumatized with emotional stress and depression she would endure after waking up without all her teeth. She's such a tiny sweet docile little dog with no bark. All she wants to do that makes her happy and content is so be and held and sleep in your arms. From the age of 7 months I was told as beautiful and healthy as she is, she had the worse case of peridontal disease for a dog that age. However not abnormal because she was the runt of the litter. Because of her extremely small mouth you can't really brush her teeth without it being traumatic for her and she will not allow you. Many small dog owners have this issue. The best I could do was dry kibble and greenies... although dry kibble has created a stand off where she has gone over 9 days refusing to eat ...few times. She's obsessed with her table food so mix it in with dry food or she won't eat it. She's had cleanings but have been forewarned no matter how great a job is done removing tarter/plaque, at some point all her teeth would have to come have to be removed and most likely at once. I tried so hard to hold off on the last year because she was still healthy, not in pain, and able to chew food. Her teeth were movable and gums black. I knew if I didn't act soon she would suffer the high risk of death, heart stopping and failing organs collapsing from bacteria. I do not recommend following in my footsteps. Dr. Hansen actually called during me twice.. once while Bella was under to tell me everything was fine and Bella was strong, informed me of the test results, what dental issues she found and get this, reassured me to keep the cost down. She was reassuring me for all the fears I had. Then called me afterwards and gave blow by blow details and reassure me how well it went. The doctor's reassuring calls are giving attention to us waiting pet owner's fears. This alone made me realize that this veterinarian hospital was and is the best choice decision that was discovered by chance months back but put on hold because of my family illness emergency. Like other pet owners tend to do, I had not lit the firecracker under my butt to follow through getting this stressful surgery until a neighbor shared a sad story of getting to the vet too late with his dog for the exact same reasons as me. As a result the his dog ended up having a heart issue and failed organ issues with about a year to live. My girlfriend and I freaked out. She had been putting it off as well, so she made an appointment a couple of days later. Our fur babies are best friends so we decided bring them in for surgery together so it could be less stressful on them and us. The wonderful staff allowed this, which we are sooo grateful for. Teddy and Bella, arrived together at 9am. Everything was easy as can be. No inconvenience and the paperwork took no time given given by the wonderful staff girl at the counter who checked us in. (I forgot her name ) but she was wonderful!! She reassured both of us so we felt better about leaving our dogs behind. She was comforting and so sweet while working with me on the estimate/price. So checking in was not stressful at all. I did however cry helplessly in the car on the way home letting myself think the worst so soon after losing sister. Lucky after reflecting back I felt better about my choice to go there. Picking them up was just as easy! They arrived together in the early morning and left together around 1:30-ish. That includes the hours recommended to be left and watched before going home. I was unexpectedly surprised and overwhelmed with love. They not only did NOT go over the estimate and price given as usually happens in other places, but in fact charged me a lot UNDER the price for me!! This included the unexpected abscesses they found and worked on while she was under. Omg, when does that ever happen??! This place! This whole experience couldn't have been anymore perfect. I'm forever grateful for them for taking care of our babies!! They were in best hands of a wonderful and attentive staff and doctor. Take your fur-babies here if you loved them as much as we do. Can't say enough about the entire team and facility. I read some of the 'less than' reviews below and i still would not change my mind about Dr. Aten and his team. They have been caring for our pets for 20+ years and have always been compassionate, professional, and caring. Most times, when a pet would go in for a bath, she would come home with a hand written note from one of the doctors letting us know her weight, overall condition, and any concerns or advice. And the front desk has always been very kind and attentive. We had to say goodbye to our sweet Golden Retriever yesterday and you would have thought that everyone, including, Dr. Aten, were losing their own pet. they could not have been kinder, gentler, more comforting. Dr. Aiten & the crew at CDMAH have been like family and throughout all these years, I couldn't have asked for better care!!! They have been taking care of me since I was a pup and being that I have definitely lived up to the cliche of being a "silly & CrAzY" lab, they have nursed me back to perfect health though broken bones, annoying skin infections, routine shots and most recently, helped guide me through a serious eye complication. Thanks to their expert thoroughness & genuine regard for my well-being, I have always received the ultimate in care and have been blessed with continued good health with many great years ahead to look forward too!! Dr. Aiten has also expanded some of his care plans to include Laser therapy, which has been extremely helpful for my old arthritic joints that some of us old dogs tend to get... Ughhh! Appointments are always easy to get and if it's urgent, they always do their best to work me in as a drop off... Pricing is competitive and extremely fair. This is by far the best animal hospital I have ever been to. They have been wonderful as caregivers my Miniature Pincher "Callie" for 5 of her 12 years. She got sick 1 month ago and they were caring and considerate of both her needs and the needs of our family. When we made the decision to put her to sleep, they could not have been more compassionate. During what was a very difficult time, they guided us and helped Callie leave us with peace and dignity. After she passed away, Dr. Tiberi even wrote my family a hand written note. I am SO GRATEFUL for the loving kindness of Dr. Liz Hanson. She recently operated on my little chihuahua Shadow (took off a golf ball size tumor from her little breast) and Dr. Hansen was so incredibly professional and attentive!!! She got clear margins, and has been just wonderful with follow up phone calls and I cannot say enough about her bedside manner!!! She is the best of the best. I live in Mission Viejo and I gladly drive over 25 miles, just to see her and have her treat my dog. I learned of Dr. Hanson through my sister Elisa, who spoke so highly of her as she cared for her older, ailing miniature greyhound Bella. The level of care was exemplary, and how compassionate Dr. Hanson was with my sister. I believe that Dr. Hanson gave Bella the very best quality of life and also let my sister know when the end was near. That dog lasted 18 years! Oh my!! It is so important to feel like your little baby is in the best care, especially when encountering health issues. Unequivocally, Dr. Hanson is in a league of the ALL STARS. To sum it up in a nutshell, my fiancé left our French Bulldog, Jagger, for a week while out of town and his dad went to check on him.. What he found was disturbing. Jagger was mortified, in shock from negligence. With one touch, our dog's hair was falling out in handfuls. This place needs to be reported for choosing poor, inept employees who you'd never wish upon your loved one. With that being said, my fiancé and I only put this star on the review for Dr. H (who is no longer affiliate with CDMAH) for the reason being that he fortunately had no part in our dog's mistreatment. At the end of the day, I truly hope things turn around and change for this business to reverse the damage done. read more
