Saying goodbye to Gyzmo was one of the hardest things we've had to do. The staff showed us kindness in the darkest moments. Dr. Horn was empathetic and helped us show our boy how much love was in the room as he crossed the rainbow bridge. They helped bring peace in a time where all we could feel was heartbreak. Thank you to Dr. Horn and everyone that played a part in a day that changed our lives. Maybe one day if we heal and feel strong enough to start this journey again, our paths will cross again.

Took my recently adopted adult/senior dog Watson to OCVMC and have been incredibly impressed with the care, compassion, and professionalism I received from the entire staff. More specifically Dr. E took his time to explain the best plan of care/medication to address his symptoms, was gentle in handling him, and clear communication. Sandra as well was incredibly kind. She took her time explaining the invoice, options to save a bit of money, and was so sweet with Watson. Watson is resting a bit more comfortable because of them.

Ask the Community - OC Veterinary Medical Center

What pet health insurance do you accept?

Veterinarians don't take insurance as much as assist with the reimbursement process where the pet owner has to pay the bill and get reimbursement from the company. There are a few companies that can pay the office directly. We will help with any…

What are your payment options? Does it have to bb payed in fulled or can I be able to make separate payments

Invoices do need to be paid at the time services are rendered. We accept care credit, bank cards, checks, debit, etc. We do not currently accept Venmo or Paypal. We used to allow billing, but the system was abused and we had to stop that practice.

How much is a physical checkup for a guinea pig?

How much is a X-ray to check for a blockage ? One place quoted me $550 for the X-ray and $275 to have it read

There could be quite a range depending on what is necessary. Sometimes a blockage is easy to find, and sometimes can't see it all after multiple radiographs. Blockages can be medical emergencies, I would recommend getting your pet seen by a…

Hello, how much do you charge to spay a 2 year old dog?

About 900, they tack on fees on fees on fees, I've never seen such ridiculousness. They tried to charge me extra for dog being over 8 months. Many places in the area will do it for around 500.

Hi! I just took in a 10 yr old Maltese. She needs a spay and dental. How much would it run? I've been quoted $500-$1,500.00.

It'll probably be over 1000 at this place. Find a better place and you can get it done for under $600. I just took in 3 fosters and spayed all of them. This place is way over priced

Do you accept payments with care credit?

    Yes we do.

How much is it for a nose surgery for a pug to be able to breathe better?

Brachycephalic syndrome (seen in pugs, bulldogs, etc) tends to be an issue with more than one cause. It would be best to have your pug seen by a veterinarian before trying to get a cost for repair as there could be more involved to improve the…

Hello, what is the cost for pet neuter? Out puppy is 6mo and about 40 lbs.

Hello, I need a Health Certificate to fly for my dog. How much do you charge for this?

It really depends on where you are travelling to. International (and islands in the US like Hawaii) certificates are more difficult. Currently we issue electronic health certificates. A domestic certificate including the exam is $165. We provide…

How much does it cost for a non-anestic teeth cleaning on a 25lb dog?

Since the pandemic and lock down we stopped offering non-anesthetic dental cleaning and are not sure when or even if we will be doing so in the future. We would be happy to examine and evaluate your dog for a comprehensive dental plan, but a…

    Hi do you sell Nexgard?

We sell a similar product Simparica and one with heartworm and intestinal parasite control called Simparica TRIO. Simparica and Nexgard are in the same family of flea control. Simparica is labelled for one more tick species but it's not a big deal…

Do you offer at home euthanasia?

We do, but due to staff constraints due to Covid, we can only do so as a service for our existing pet parents. If you have not been here before, you might consider Lap of Love.

How much would vaccines be for a small puppy?

Hi Jesse. Thank you for reaching out! We do offer vaccines for puppies, however the cost varies depending on the vaccine(s) needed. Please call us at (714) 633-3323 to discuss your puppy’s individual needs. We hope to hear from you soon!

Hi! Do you have any nutritionists in your facility? I'm interested in starting a raw diet for my 2 month old boxer but would love more guidance!

We do not have a veterinary nutritional specialist on staff but we do refer to them on a regular basis. All of our doctors are well versed in veterinary nutrition and do consult on dietary therapy for our patients and specific needs by age, medical…

What is the cost of cat neutering?

Hi Angela! Our neutering costs vary depending on your pet's age, size and overall health. Please give us a call at the practice to discuss your options!

Hi, are you guys doing neuterings at the moment?

Yes we are but we do have a bit of a wait due to reduced staff and that we prioritize safety and don't do more than one procedure at a time. We are also only scheduling existing clients which means we would need to see your pet before scheduling the…

How much does it cost to check my dog like a exam?

Hi Marlene! Our exam fee is $68 and we are currently practicing curbside care due to COVID-19. Please contact us at the hospital for more information!

Do you treat rabbit tooth injury's? What is the cost for an exam?

We really don't see a lot of exotic pets and for this you might try Dr. Greek in Yorba Linda

Do you offer pet insurance/what providers do you offer?

We accept any form of pet insurance. Most companies work by reimbursement for any fees paid. We do not work with any discounter plans which are not true insurance. We try to keep our costs as low as possible while offering care that we feel that…

My 54 lb Jindo does not do well with strangers, she is all bark but no bite. I was very anxious bringing her to any dog care but Wendy was willing to do an assessment prior to their stay. This was my very first time doing any sort of dog care so I was really worried about leaving them. They did really well and my other dog had so much fun (he's a social butterfly). The main reason I chose this place vs all the other dog boarding is because they offer a "home" living experience rather than a facility/warehouse. My dogs always freely roams the house and lays on our bed, couch, wherever they please so I wanted something similar and Wendy's house provided that. I couldn't bare the thought of them being kept in a narrow sleeping quarter locked throughout the day. Thank you for taking great care of my babies! This place will definitely be my go-to for any future dog boarding.

It was clear they were genuinely cared for, loved, and treated like family the entire time they were there. Seeing Jax and Frank happy, comfortable, and well taken care of gave us so much peace of mind. You can truly tell OC Paw House cares deeply about the animals they watch. We are beyond grateful for the care they gave our boys and will absolutely be using them again in the future. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and attentive place for their dogs!

The facility itself is very well equipped, with more than 100 rooms. They also have separate isolation rooms in case a dog gets sick, which helps prevent illnesses from spreading to other dogs. I thought that was a huge plus. All new dogs are required to provide vaccination records, and they also do about a 20-minute temperament assessment before joining. Based on each dog's personality, they arrange suitable playgroups instead of just mixing all the dogs together. The staff are also very professional and attentive. Our little family includes George, our Frenchie who recently underwent back surgery, and Waldo, our Portuguese Water Dog/Poodle mix who struggles with extreme anxiety. Leaving them anywhere can be stressful for us, but Ian immediately put our minds at ease. He is incredibly friendly, professional, and, most importantly, genuinely wonderful with our dogs. He takes the time to understand their individual needs and treats them with such patience and care. With George's recovery and Waldo's anxiety, that extra attentiveness means everything to us. It's clear Ian truly loves what he does, and it shows in the way our pups light up when they see him. We keep coming back because of Ian and the way he treats George and Waldo. That changed this last time the owners sold the company and the new owners took over, as things have definitely gone downhill, which brings me to this review specifically. This past Thursday, July 2nd, I swung by Paw Sweet Paw on my way home to pick up my dog, since my wife dropped her off for a half day. I told the young lady at the front I was here to pick up Boba, and she said, "I'll be right back with Boba."I waited for 15 minutes for her to return, and when she did, she did not have my dog with her, and she stated something like, "they are in the process of moving the dogs". Some more time goes by, and a manager walks by, and I am livid by this point, and I said, "Where is my flippin dog, although I didn't use flippin. She said, " Please hold on for one minute and she walked away and went upstairs. By this point, it had been a half hour, and not to mention there was another gentleman there to drop off his dog, and he had been waiting 15 minutes. Some more time goes by, and I told the lady at the front that I was walking to the back to get my dog, and you can call whoever you want, but this is BS. When I opened up the gate and was proceeding to walk back, the manager came walking down the steps, and again, I said Where the _ _ _ _ _ _ _ HELL is my dog, to which she replied, I don't know how to tell you this, but WE GAVE YOUR DOG TO THE WRONG PERSON. Needless to say, I lost it, and I said, how the hell is that even POSSIBLE on your end, let alone the person that took my dog home. Who the hell picks up their dog and realizes that this is not my dog and takes it home?????? The Manager said that somehow either she lost her paper collar or someone neglected to read the name on the collar and handed her off to another staff member, and they are the ones that gave her to the wrong owner.....When the new owners of Paw Sweet Paw took over, they implemented this paper tag collar policy, and when you check your dog in, they take the regular collars off of the dog and put a paper collar on the dog. I think it is absolutely ridiculous, but somehow, they believe it's to protect the dogs in case they get in a fight or something, to which I still don't understand. By this point, I cannot even see straight, and I am basically yelling at the Manager as to where my dog is and who the hell is going to get her. She said, "I just spoke to the owner, and I am driving to her house right now to get Boba." The lady that took my dog had two dogs, so as the manager was leaving, I said You might want to go back and get her dog..... She said it would take her about 15 minutes to get to the lady's house and 15 minutes back. Finally, after well over an hour, I got my dog back!!!!!!.. Needless to say, she was extremely anxious and was panting very heavily all the way home, and her heart was racing as well. She finally settled down later that night.....I am not sure what dogs think, but I believe Boba might've been thinking she was being abandoned because she has never been anywhere except Paw Sweet Paw. All in all, I think it was about a 1.5-hour ordeal (nightmare). The Manager said she started 3 weeks ago, apologized profusely, and said she is going to rectify the problem so that it never happens again. She also said that the District Manager would be calling my wife, because by this time, my wife had come down as well. They did call later on that night from a blocked number and left a message with no number to call back. We're still waiting for her to call back. It really sucks because this is the only place we have ever taken Boba, and she actually likes it there cause she is not locked up all day and can play with other dogs. My dog is already anxious, so the idea of finding a new boarding place is less than desirable, but I might have no choice.
