Don't take your items here for repair if you have expensive items and don't want your things completely ruined. I took a new Celine bag here for the place to patch a minor abrasion to the calfskin leather after dropping my bag on concrete. The bag is completely ruined and looks very aged from the color treatment. I'm in tears now every time I look at my bag and regret not leaving the abrasion as it was. They don't speak English in the shop, only the owner does, which is a huge problem. Be aware that the place is dim lit in order to keep you from seeing defects with your items. The first pic is of what was supposed to be fixed, very minor, and hardly noticeable. The other pics are of my ruined bag. STAY AWAY ... I had even told the owner it was in new Celine bag, but they still didn't take special care.

I had the leather tabs replaced and this was their second attempt but both times they could not sew straight.

They did an awesome job on making a pair of my favorite black leather flats look like brand new and at a reasonable price. Highly recommend!

These guys know what they're doing. They've fixed several expensive shoes of mine perfectly! I will not go anywhere else for shoe fixes.

Not only was the woman behind the counter so friendly and polite, she was helpful. A few days later, she showed me the dress, and it looked fixed. When I arrived home to try it on, I could tell she did wonders. While the price I paid in the end was not the one she initially quoted, I was ok with paying slightly more as it involved fixing the hem and pleats of the bottom half of a dress as well as potentially adjusting the side seams where the pockets were. Additionally, she did caveat that she might not be able to fix the dress so I appreciated her upfront-ness. And so for the last two months, I have trekked to Farragut Square, greeting the folks behind the front desk and walking into the quaint space that is Barr Cleaners where the woman greets me by name and asks when I need my items. She is always flexible and can turn the items around within a day or two, if it's not a lot. Most of the times, I tell her she can take her time, and even still, it's only a couple of days, and I'm ok with that. The most recent dress I brought in clearly showed wear, and when I asked if she could take care of it, she smiled and said in her cute way, "No problem." Prices are a little pricey, but the service is worth it in my opinion.

Not only were the stains still there, there was two more stains and they STAPLED their papers to the hood of the vest leaving holes in the hood. They also stapled another paper to the coat hook inside and claimed they do this all the time, zero logic. I left a review, received a call that I would receive a refund and they would pay for the $300 vest. Of course neither happened so here I am.

Leon's Shoe Repair - Glue residue and messily cut patch

    Leon's Shoe Repair

Short story: Leon's communication is abysmal, and the quality of work is even worse. I dropped my…read moreshoes off on 10/9 for a repair and didn't get them back until 11/8. I took a pair of boots on 10/9 to Leon that needed repair after my dog got to them. He came highly recommended from a trusted friend. He required payment up front, which usually I won't do as a first-time customer, but made an exception since he seemed like a good guy and my friend had excellent work done here. He promised an estimate within a few days. I waited a week before getting in touch by text, and got a very hostile response. We later talked on the phone and apparently he thought I was trying to scam him because his information has been "hacked", even though we'd already communicated in the same text thread. We cleared the air and he apologized for the misunderstanding. He got me an estimate 5 days later (for those keeping track it's now 10/21), and I went to the store immediately to pay. He took my money and promised they'd be done by the end of the month. He's just one guy, after all! Can't fault him for taking his time, especially if the work is good. I got in touch on 10/31 and he said he needed another week. I got in touch a week later and he says he's still not done, but says I can come by the store at 8pm that night to pick up. This doesn't work with my schedule, which is fine. That's on me. So today, 11/8, rolls around and I ask about when I can pick up. He texts to "come by 3pm", which means "come before 3pm". A typo, i realize in retrospect, and so when I showed up at 1:30 expecting him to be there I was surprised that the shop as closed. I called and was met with a stream of profanity about how he had told me to come AT 3pm. We bickered for a bit, I'm frustrated, and so I come at 3 to find him just starting the work on my boots. The resulting work is really bad. The patch leather is cut poorly and messily, the thread isn't properly sewn in, and there is glue all around the perimeter of the patch on the boots themselves. A cherry on top: when I was trying to leave the store, which is quite cluttered and small, I tripped over some detritus, and he laughed at me and then texted me "up yours" as I was getting to my car.

Leon is great... odd hours but he does a great careful job on belts and shoes and all else.read more
