    Leon awful job
    David T.

Took a chance on a local small business on getting my leather back pack fixed. I broke one of the handles from wear& tear. Came to Leon's shoe repair asked the owner if could work his magic. He replied with "yes I can. 42 dollars and give me 2 weeks." Thought is was weird that it would take 2 weeks for a simple repair. Nonetheless I said okay, but told him I need it sooner. I have a trip to take and wanted to use the bag. Which he agreed with. As I walked out, that's when I noticed the hours 4:00pm - 8:00pm. I turn back to him and asked if the hours are currant hours and not pandemic hours. He proceeded to tell me it's because he has to be with his son. Which then I smile and said okay. In reality in my mind I was like "fuck I'm never going to see my bag back." But my heart said just wait and see. Came multiple times to pick up my bag, but the store was closed. Finally gave a call to what number is listed. Leon told me he would be at the shop by 4:30. I came in to pick up my bag. Catching Leon walking out the door. Telling me give him 30 mins and he will be done. Came back within an hour time. Bag was still not done. Told him that it was okay. Asked for my bag back and 42 dollars back. Leon got very upset and started to speak in Spanish. Maybe thinking I don't speak Spanish but I'm Latino. Saying things like " he wants to take my money" " I knew not to accept this bag" then speaking me in English saying " you paid me for a service and I'm going to give too you." Very aggressively. Told him not to, it's cool. He won't let my bag go..and started going in on my broken handle. What took him less then 15 min. He quoted me 2 weeks. He finished and gave me awful job. He stitched into the leather inappropriate damaging the bag. Overlapped fabric and leather parts. He thought that was okay. I asked for my money back only getting 40 back. NEVER COMING BACK. Trust or instinct.

I brought my shoes in 6 months ago, have never been able to get back in contact with them or find them open. Can someone help me with this?

Leon repaired my boots to perfection after I had worn them out in the blizzard. Look no further for shoe repairs.

His prices are great and he's a nice guy, but he's NEVER open. I've been trying to get a pair of boots back for the last six weeks.

Unfortunately, this experience raised a serious customer service concern. When I dropped off my shoes, I specifically asked how long the repairs would take. Both the gentleman working at the front desk and Pete told me they would be ready in one week. After eight days, I called because I was leaving town and needed the shoes for my trip. I was then told that the standard turnaround time was actually one and a half to two weeks. Had I been quoted that timeframe when I dropped them off, I would not have left the shoes because I knew I needed them before my trip. When I returned to town, I stopped by the store to pick them up. The gentleman at the front desk immediately asked whether I was the person who had called. When I confirmed that I was, he responded, "Well, your shoes were ready last week." His tone was unnecessary and dismissive. I explained that the shoes were supposed to be ready by Wednesday, based on the timeframe I was originally given, and that I had been out of town since Thursday. There are several cobblers who repair high-end and designer shoes. I have continued choosing Pete, not because he is the least expensive, but because he consistently does excellent work. I am happy with the repairs to both pairs of shoes, but the quality of the customer service at the front desk does not reflect the quality of Pete's craftsmanship. I have referred several friends to Pete for repairs to their designer shoes and bags because I trusted both his work and the service I had previously received. Unfortunately, based solely on this interaction with the front-desk employee, I am now apprehensive about returning and will likely need to look elsewhere for future repairs. That is genuinely disappointing after years of being a satisfied customer.

The first thing you need to know is that this establishment does not have a standardized list of services or prices anywhere online or in their shop. I first went to them on June 22 to have five dresses dry cleaned (quoted $79.45), one blazer dry cleaned and shortened (quoted $52.95), and one dress' zipper repaired as well as have it dry cleaned (quoted $52.99 or $29.99 depending on if the existing zipper was salvageable or needed to be replaced). The prices seemed a bit steep to me, so I told the woman at the desk, Eden, that I would shop around for a cleaner and maybe return. I decided that paying for convenience was worth it and returned on July 8 due to Barr's close proximity to my workplace. This time, I dropped off two dresses for dry cleaning/stain removal (paid $29.98), one dress to just have the zipper repaired (paid $28), and two blazers to just have shortened (paid $50 each). When I got to work, I realized that I was paying almost the exact same amount to simply have a blazer altered that I was quoted for an alteration AND dry cleaning a couple of weeks ago. I called to inquire about this and was given the runaround. A man who I suppose is the manager initially said that he did not know why the pricing was what it was then told me that it was perhaps due to some promotion going on. I asked how much the promotion was to result in the pricing nearly being equivalent, and he said 10% which still doesn't make sense. I told him so, then, presumably due to being tired of speaking with me, he told me that I could come pick up my items and receive a refund which worked perfectly fine with me. While picking up my items, Eden told me that the refund had to be processed through an accountant and that the man I spoke to before was not in at the moment to discuss things further. After getting in contact with him, he told me that the refund had been initiated and to text them my email address to receive proof of this via email. As of the afternoon of July 9, I have still not received an actual refund, confirmation of a refund, or any specific timeline for the processing of my refund. I called Barr this morning after they ignored my texts and got an AI assistant for the first time since trying to resolve this matter, so it seems I'll just be disputing these charges with my bank. These business practices are egregious, and I can only imagine how many others have been charged on a whim but did not realize and thus could not rectify matters. I cannot recommend Barr Cleaners any less. UPDATE (July 10, 2026): Barr Cleaners said they issued a refund this morning and requested my email to send me a refund receipt. I will update this review a final time when I receive the receipt. UPDATE (July 10, 2026): I received confirmation of a refund via email this afternoon. I'm glad to have this matter finally resolved, but my original rating still stands.
