So my party was craving fish, and I remembered they had a decent size meal here and somewhat inexpensive. Boy have things changed, I did get the fish which was really fresh and delicious. But the rice was undercooked, the vegetables were overcooked and for some reason, I was still hungry, so I ordered stuffed mushrooms too, which had absolutely no flavor. I usually get the veggie burger to-go. However, you have to order through the bartender. And let's be serious here: the guy doesn't want to do takeout orders. I always tip, but he refuses to include ketchup for the fries. I mean come on dude, I just tipped you on a take-out order. The very least you could do, is pretend to include what would be included if I ate it there. This is not a one-off thing. Happened time after time. Same bartender. Sorry to bother you for patronizing your establishment and tipping you for walking 3 feet to get it from the laborers in the kitchen. The flippant attitude is too much, I just won't go there anymore. ​I was very disappointed with a recent meal the The Corrib Restaurant. Despite previous positive experiences, the food and service quality seems to have gone downhill recently. Several weeks ago I ordered a bowl of beef stew during a hockey game I was watching. It was terrible and seemed to have come right out of a can of Dinty Moore. I was hungry so I ate it and didn't say anything. Most recently I took my daughter there after work . Our dinner order included chicken fingers, fries, clam chowder, and a French onion soup. The fries were cold, the chicken fingers barely had any chicken, and the clam chowder was that was passable at best. But the French onion soup was horrible and not edible in my opinion. It took only a spoonful and I was done and did not touch it for the rest of the meal. Although I made my dissatisfaction known after one bite, the soup remained on the final bill. When I raised concern a second time, the waitress appeared annoyed, and brought over the manager who became argumentative rather than offering an apology or a resolution. When I told her I found the soup to be not edible she asked why. I responded that the cheese topping was burnt; there was virtually no broth, bread was liquefied and overly soggy, the onions were pulverized and lacked structure. Overall it did not taste good. Her answer to me was "that's the way we make it" I told her I had had french onion soup at many restaurants throughout my life as I'm a 73-year-old man . She said there was nothing wrong with it . She then grabbed it off the table and said she would bring it into the kitchen for evaluation. A short dialogue ensued and when I realized they had no interest in improving the quality of their product or resolving the situation and a friendly manner I paid the bill in left. As a guest I really expected better treatment . At minimum, the waitress/manager should have offered to remove the offending bowl of soup from the bill. They should have also expressed some regret that I didn't like their soup . the inedible dish to be removed from the bill. I felt both my daughter and I were treated very rudely by the staff and we will not be going back to that restaurant in the future. When I left the restaurant I asked Google AI to tell me what was wrong with the preparation based on my description of the soup. This is what it said: When French onion soup is served with a burnt topping (scorched cheese/crouton) and a soggy, pummeled onion mass, it is the result of over-caramelized/burnt onions, excessive cooking, and improper broiler usage. This creates a bitter, "scorched sadness" taste, with the bread losing all structural integrity. Here is what that experience means and what usually happens: 1. The Result: A "Sensory Nightmare" Bitter & Burnt: The burnt topping introduces a sharp, bitter flavor that ruins the broth. Mushy Texture: The "pummeled onions" suggest they were either overcooked, cut too small, or steamed rather than caramelized. Structural Failure: The crouton becomes a "blob of wet bread" instead of a sturdy, cheesy surface. "Micro-waved" Impression: This is often seen as a sign of poor quality or rushed preparation, potentially indicating the crouton was placed on before reheating, leading to total saturation. 2. took us a while to try this place but glad we finally did. we were very pleased with the food and quality. we had the chicken parm and it came with penne pasta only- that's the only pasta they offer. the sauce wasn't too thick and the penne was cooked to the way we liked, not audenty. the garlic breads were yummy too. the seafood plate was off the specials, hope they keep it on there as long as the seafood is in season. the scallops were huge and the clam bellies were good. we opted to swap out the Regular fries for sweet potato fries, truly recommend their sweet potato fries if you like sweet potato fries. wish the cold slaw was a bit colder but aside from that we managed to finish both dishes given we werent that hungry. read more

We held my father's bereavement lunch at the Corrib. The staff was amazing from helping to organize beforehand through service day of. The menu provided options for everyone. They also accommodated children and attendees with special dietary restrictions if needed. They suggested a local establishment to get dessert items from as well which were fantastic. On the day of the luncheon, the service was exceptional. The waitresses were fast and attentive. The food was served quickly and everyone enjoyed their meals. Attendees were able to select from many options including steak tips, fish and chips, salmon, Caesar salad, chicken parm, or baked scrod. The price was extremely reasonable. The room set up was done perfectly for our party of 25 people but could accommodate a lot more if we needed. Overall I would highly recommend the Corrib for any events! read more

A very disappointing experience with the Corrib Pub and restaurant in West Roxbury tonight. I called in an order for my father and I after his treatment today at the hospital & I had to repeat myself three times to straighten it out with the person that took my order. I went to pick up my order & there was no one in sight. I kept popping my head into the kitchen and waving finally the bartender came out, and I said to her I'm picking up an order. she immediately went and took another order from another customer that was behind me in line which took another several minutes. I have to mention that while I was waving down the bar tender, I had asked several waitresses coming in and out of the kitchen for help and no one answered me. I was totally ignored by three of the four. To top it all off when I got my scallops, they were so chewy I had to spit them out. This is a real casual place for pub dining. It's not bad for neighborhood dining. When I went, there was a whole bunch of middle-aged men looking at the TV and drinking beer. The Corrib reminds me of a fairytale storybook... only not the happy part. It is a dark, dreary and stifling brick box with no air flow and reminds me of a place where a troll might live. The burgers and fish and chips are OK but otherwise they serve mediocre food with a seemingly covid skeptical air about them. They are friendly enough but ... you can find better pub food in a nicer place with better covid protections. I typically avoid Irish and American restaurants due to the face that I'm vegan and they don't offer much for me. That's why I mostly eat at ethnic restaurants like Indian and Thai. However after our orchestra concert on Sunday in West Roxbury about 8 of us went here for food and drinks. Fortunately we got there right before the crowd so we were able to get our table in less than 10 mins. Had we come 30 mins later I'm sure we would have waited a while. Apparently they asked a woman to move tables for us that was sitting alone. I don't think she was pleased but she did anyway. As expected there was hardly anything vegan yet alone vegetarian. The place has a lot of red meat, chicken, and seafood dishes as well as things like quesadillas, nachos, and other expected bar food. I ordered the portobello burger. I thought it was going to be a portobello but it was a veggie burger. I expect it was the frozen Morning Star or Boca one which I don't think is vegan? I ate it anyway since it came out. It came with a bun, some pickles, lettuce, two fried onions, and tomato. I said to hold the cheese and mayo. It also came with fries but I was able to sub out the fries for a side of spinach. Best part: they don't charge extra to sub out for veggies or a salad. AWESOME! The spinach was delicious - very flavorful though now I wonder what it was flavored with. The salads that my friends got before their meals looked good too. My friends got buffalo wings, nachos, steak tips, grilled chicken salad, quesadilla, etc. I think everyone enjoyed their meal. To drink I got a sangria (not house made - they use a mix and the fruit is cherries and oranges). Oh how I wish I could get a real sangria in this town! I also got a white zinfindel wine for my 2nd drink. Others got beer, gin and tonics, etc. The dinner comes with bread rolls and butter and I have to say they were probably won of the worst rolls I have ever had. It was so bad I didn't even eat the 2nd half. And this is saying a lot - because I love dinner rolls. The best part of the meal besides the company was our waitress. She was super sweet, helpful, and efficient. I really enjoyed her service. She was also able to do separate checks for all of us which was really nice. I also ordered food to go for my boyfriend and she was good about putting in the order later so it was still warm when I brought it home. My friends got dessert - tiramasu (which was so so), chocolate pie, etc. Obviously I didn't because there was nothing I could eat. They don't carry sorbet. They do have a lot of home made cakes and pies. This place has some fresh off the boat Irish dudes in the back by the bar. Hang out there and you'll get to hear some cute accents! The place was packed by the time we left - people were waiting for tables, etc. If you plan on eating there with a large group get there early or avoid weekend nights. As a vegan your only choices really are the side dishes and salad. They don't even offer a vegan pasta dish or hummus! I guess I could have asked our waitress to talk to the chefs to see what they could do for me, but this doesn't seem to be one of those culinary creative places that could whip me up something. My husband and I just moved to the area and were looking for an affordable dinner nearby and decided to check out the Corrib since it's only 2 blocks from our home. We were seated quickly and we had already ordered drinks when the waitress came back to ask me if I had a t-shirt in the car (I was wearing a tank top on a hot summer day). I said no since we had walked and she went away and came back with a button up white shirt. She put it down on the booth next to me and said I didn't need to put it on, but should keep it just in case "someone" said anything. I immediately felt so uncomfortable, especially since there were a few women at tables near us wearing sleeveless shirts which didn't seem to be an issue. We ordered food and it came out in less than 5 minutes which made me feel like we were being rushed out of the restaurant. The food was fine, but I couldn't shake feeling incredibly unwelcome in the space. I don't know if it was because of my tank top or the fact that we were a gay couple, but the whole vibe was very odd and unfriendly. We will not be back since the other restaurants in our area have all been very welcoming and comfortable to dine in. read more

My boyfriend and I were in the area on an errand and decided to try a new food spot! After sitting at another place and not being helped for 25 minutes we ended up at corrib pub. Thank god! The service was great the menu was great, the Diet Coke was bubbly and sweet! My tuna melt was fantastic, the wings were yummy, and my bf enjoyed his meal as well. Hm, not quite sure what to say. Given that fairly new to the area, I enjoyed experiencing a local hang out. However, there were a few things to mention. We ordered the buffalo chicken and chip appetizer. The chips tasted like they were in a fridge with something spoiled. It's hard to describe the taste. But I would say that whatever they were placed next too should've been thrown out awhile ago. The dip was tasty though, thank goodness ‍ I ordered the chicken Cesar wrap. I normally would try something different but it's important to add that I spent 4 hours before this at Trillium Brewery in Roslindale (go-it's adorable!) and needed anything in my stomach. This was too saturated with dressing but did the job. I can say that I will check this place off my list of local go-tos. Not sure I will be back for food. Maybe to watch a game and get a beer. read more

You have to know what you're getting into here. The food is nothing to write home about, but it's a relatively affordable, family-friendly place. I've been with my family a few times and we've enjoyed it well enough. Last night I got the prime rib, which was well cooked but not hot enough. My husband had the turkey dinner and our 1yo daughter had shepherd's pie (well, she attempted to eat it). The service was sort of scattered, I think our waitress had a big party to attend to. My family has been going to the Corrib as long as I can remember. Celebrations, mourning, or just hanging out- its always nice to pop in for some clam chowder and one of my favorite entrees. I can't tell you how many people I've brought to the Corrib. Sitting at the bar, in a booth, or at a table, you can't beat the classic cozy feeling in there. It's sad to read other reviewers having negative experiences, but I look forward to going back. Sure there have been less favorable visits, but I always look forward to going there. I don't know where to begin... I've had the misfortune of dining here multiple times due to my aging grandparents' need for close fish and chips. This time, even my 92 year old grandfather was grossed out. Dinner rolls - hot dog buns (room temp) without the slit. Salad that comes w dinner -ALWAYS just iceberg with 1 wilted wrinkly cherry tomato. If you offer this to accompany entrees and this is all you can give, don't do it! Id rather pay ANY price for some greens and more than a gross old tomato and 1 purple onion ring.... tonight the balsamic vinegar (HOW CAN YOU GO WRONG WITH BALSAMIC?!?) tasted like plastic. It's never been this bad. Steak tips so loaded with salt I am going to get screened for heart disease. My grandmother (who will eat absolutely any creamy soup in the world) told us her clam chowder was "blah" - also room temp. Baked potatoes are clearly microwaved or baked in advance and then nuked. GROSS. Fish and chips are OK but my mom continues to ask for crunchy chips and gets soggy and soft lukewarm planks. The ambiance is depressing. The music is even worse. Let me first say that I'm *not* the Irish pub type. I don't really drink much beer, I tend to shy away from groups of drunk people unless there's another draw (dancing, karaoke, Major League Baseball), and typically the food is inexpensive for a reason. So when I went to the Corrib, on a Friday night, on a date, I guess I had low expectations. And some of them were met, while others were shot down in a haze of chicken-induced deliciosity. The first thing I noticed upon walking in is that the bar is separated from the restaurant portion by a high glass divider. This provides the restaurant patrons with enough privacy to feel as though they are not at a bar, and the bar-goers sufficient separation to get drunk without being judged. It's a win-win situation. And since the restaurant is actually very nice inside, it's one that is necessary. My first experience with the waitress was that she was surly and not particularly interested in my order. Fortunately, I had earlier listened to a song by RZA (of Wu-Tang Clan fame) in which he mentioned that one should "defeat your enemies with kindness," so I continued to be nice to the waitress and she warmed up. Still, it didn't give me a great first impression. My date chose the Smothered Steak Tips Sandwich, while I ordered the Gorgonzola-Smothered Chicken Sandwich and side garden salad. Apparently, the Corrib is big on smothering things. The salad was... fine. It was a salad. The honey mustard dressing was killer, but that's just how some places make it. When the sandwiches arrived, I pre-judged mine based on its size and was initially disappointed - it wasn't the huge, honkin' sandwich that I expect for $7.50. But I guess they have to pay for the decor somehow. My first bite, however, was decadent. The chicken was so well-marinated that it could have been perfectly-flavored on its own (if I ever go back, I'm getting it without the cheese), but the cheese added a melty texture and salty flavor that complemented it nicely. I chose to change my french fries to "Corrib Fries," which are spiced lattice fries, and those were delicious as well. My date also enjoyed her steak tips sandwich, although to be fair she lives within walking distance of the venue and said she orders the same thing every time. My final thoughts on the Corrib are that it's a nice, local pub and restaurant - probably a destination for a few, but mostly a hangout for the locals. The separation between bar and restaurant was useful (except when the Red Sox scored a run or got a strikeout, in which case... what separation?), the food was tasty and moderately-priced, and the server was probably just having a bad day. Did I enjoy my meal? Yes. Would I recommend it to others who live nearby? Sure. Would I go back if I wasn't in the neighborhood? Probably not. read more

If you enjoy food, avoid The Corrib. I find the food here seriously vile. At one time this was one of the few choices open to you if you lived in West Roxbury and didn't feel like driving very far to grab a bite to eat, but now with so many new restaurants opening up on Centre Street I really can't imagine why anyone would eat here. Last time I ate here was with my Dad who for some reason didn't feel like going someplace better. I ordered the steak and stuffed shrimp and ended up sending it back and ordering a burger instead. If you really need to come here, stick with difficult to screw up items like burgers and fish & chips. Honestly, I wouldn't even order a side salad here. It's basically a small plate with iceberg lettuce, a slice of tomatoe, some onions and horrible dressing. Blech. And if you are wondering why the place is always crowded, let me assure you, the bar is the draw. read more

corrib's is great for cheap food and drinks. its a great, friendly atmosphere. I've never had to wait, but there is always a good crowd. the nachos are good...they use the cheese sauce but its still very tasty! also, they have really good chicken sandwhiches with different types of BBQ sauce on top...very good as well. its a great place to go if you are looking for something quick, cheap and casual. parking can be a little tricky since its on a main road and they dont have a lot, but you can always find street parking! read more
