We recently used Waterfords for a bereavement reception and Shawna couldn't have been more helpful in organizing the whole thing on such short notice. The room was comfortable and cozy with a real fire place, which was nice to have on a cold day, and the food came out promptly even though we arrived much sooner than originally anticipated. I let Shawna know we were running ahead of schedule and she made sure the building was open and ready for us (they were typically closed at that hour). Everyone seemed to enjoy the food, especially the desserts, and we will definitely be considering Waterfords in the future for happier events. read more

What a beautiful restaurant Waterfords is! On the water too which explains the name of course. Went here yesterday - day after Christmas - the bar was popular but otherwise the place was fairly empty. It's a converted house or something because when you enter there's a large foyer with high ceilings and then you walk into this large dining room with a beautiful fireplace and tables with white tablecloths and then you get to the restaurant and bar area. Plus they have a function room upstairs according to their website. They have musical bingo on Tuesdays and also trivia nights. I ordered the southwest chicken salad - came with blackened chicken which was pretty much the best part of the salad. Hubs ordered the Rueben sandwich with regular fries. It was very meaty and rich buttery. He thought it was very tasty and the fries were a little on the salty side but yummy. Service was great - the server's name in the bill showed up as Bar B lol so I'm not sure if that is her name of some sort of code for the bartenders. Anyway she was super nice and friendly! We went for Mothers Day brunch. Originally reservations were made for 11am. We were notified the day before that due to staffing they had to bump us til 12. Ok fine. We arrive at 12 .. (12:07, actually) and the door is locked but there are some people already in there sitting down. We try knocking.. no answer. We ended up calling and letting them know we were outside (with other people) and the door is locked. At 12:15(!!) someone finally comes and unlocks the door. No apologies or anything. He literally unlocked the door and walked away. We are seated and wait another 10mins for someone to come over and take our drink order. They let us know the food (buffet style) isn't ready yet. The food was good- which is the only reason why they are getting more than one star but service was terrible. Also the women's room is tiny. The changing table is right when you walk in the door. So close that someone coming in could hit the changing table with the door. read more

I came to Waterfords with my boyfriend for the first time last Saturday for dinner and had a very pleasant experience. The food was tasty and portions were generous. He ordered steak tips and I got the ritz cracker crusted haddock. Service was excellent. This is a relaxed Irish pub with waterfront views where you can either get a beer or sit down for a full meal. My family held a luncheon here following a family member's funeral. The staff could not have been more accommodating. We did not encounter a single issue. The catering manager (Shawna) anticipated all of our needs, and the bartender and waitstaff could not have been nicer. The food was perfect (baked stuffed chicken was amazing!) After the event I received many compliments on the meal and the venue. One of the draws for us was that the restaurant has ample parking in their lot. There are several other restaurants in the area, but with some mobility issues for some family members, having a parking lot vs. on street parking was key. My family had come from across the States for a funeral service this past Fri and Sat. Plans had been made to dine together at a well known resturant in Boston immediately after (on that Sat @ 1:00)..When we called to inform them that our party would be 2 persons larger (27) we were told that they DID NOT have a reservation under our name. Needless to say not only were we upset ... we were desperate to find a resturant at the last minute tthat could handle our large party at the last minute. Of course that had good food, fair pricing, ample parking and, an understanding Managment and Staff. Well we found it @THE WATERFORDS. Not only were we met with sincere condolences but by a staff that went out of their way to help us enjoy our time together. The variety on the menu made it easy for everyone to have something they liked....and the bartender made sure our drinks were just right...the little bonus was the location has waterfront views that help relax and relieve us from what had been a difficult weekend. I was going to rate it 2 stars ... but given it was St Patrick's day, I'm going to assume they were busier than usual. I ordered a burger done medium. I was served a dark black air hockey puck. And both it and the fries were cold. (The cold I'll chalk up to a busy waitress, but the well-well-WELL done burger is on the restaurant.). For my drink, I ordered an Old Fashioned. The well bourbon was Bulleit, so kudos for that. But the drink itself was served with a slushy muddle of maraschino cherries and orange slices and chipped ice, which results in a watery syrupy tasting mess. Stick with bourbon neat or get a Guinness. Lastly, we ordered chicken fingers. Again, way over-cooked. Clearly, you never worry about salmonella poisoning here. Again, but the food last night was as appetizing as licking a Blarney Stone. read more

Waterfords Restaurant and Pub is the epitome of what you would consider an excellent bar. Most specifically, Saturday nights are eletric and a guaranteed good time as there is usually live music from the most talented local musicians. Most nights aside from Saturday are also a great evening for that homey style atmosphere that you always see in movies and think to yourself, "I wish I could hang out in a place like that.". Not only is this establishment an excellent bar for night time endeavors, but it also has a plethora of great foods to choose from during the day and into the night. My personal favorite are the lemon pepper wings, which come at a fair price for a hearty amount of wings. Lastly, the service is excellent. It doesn't matter if it's Diane, Bobby, Shannon, Mike, Lorraine, or Noreen, they are all fast and efficient bartenders, who take a great deal of care in their work. They are all great bartenders with great personalities and will give the experience that others places just can't offer these days. My mom and I went to this restaurant for brunch. There weren't a lot of people there (about 2-4 tables full and some at the bar) but there were 3-4 wait staff. My mom and I both ordered the basic eggs breakfast (toast, scrambled eggs, bacon) and coffee. We waited a very long time for our food and our waitress did not come back to check on us. The people who came to the restaurant after us and had more people with them were served their food before us. We would have asked the waitress for an update but could not find her. When we finally received our food, the eggs were cold/lukewarm and the toast was visibly burnt. The waitress gave us our food and accidentally touched my mom's toast with her bare fingers. She then said, "oops I'm sorry!" And asked if we needed anything else, then left. I have never written a review before and am easily satisfied when I go out to eat. In hindsight, we should have sent the food back but after waiting so long we were hungry. I still gave a 20% tip. I would definitely be wary when visiting this restaurant because the brunch food we received was pretty gross and seemed like the waitress didn't grab it when she was supposed to. FKA "The Olde Irish Ale House", this place was in dire need of a renovation. After being closed for several weeks undergoing a pretty dramatic redesign and update, it was re-opened with a new name. The renovation was nicely done and the place feels bright, clean, and much more modern. The menu is also all new and more fresh and unique. There are a lot of comfort and pub foods made with fresh ingredients of a higher quality than the past. I ordered the Pot Roast Mac which is pretty much what it sounds like- a combo of pot roast and mac and cheese. It really hit the spot on a chilly fall night. The meat was tasty and fresh and the cheesy buttery goodness of the pasta and topping made for a delicious dinner. It was also good to see more families and people in general in the place. This is a great option for watching a game or having a casual dinner. I recommend checking it out, especially if you had been to the old Ale House. After reading a lot of negative reviews when they first opened, I was hesitant to try Waterford's. When I saw how packed the parking lot was at lunchtime on a Sunday, I decided I'd give it a shot! I stopped in here for a drink and appetizer with my husband. We ordered the dry rub wings and the BBQ Pulled Pork Spring Rolls, which were both delicious! The Spring rolls weren't really reminiscent of a spring roll, more of an egg roll, as the wrapping was more like that. But they were really good and came with a side of BBQ sauce for dipping. I got a Mojito Mexicano off the drink menu and as much as I love Patron, it was just lacking something. I eventually asked for a bit of Chambord to kick the flavor up a notch, but it just didn't do it for me. I ordered a regular mojito after that, which was better, but could have used more mint and lime. My husband stuck to his trusty bottles of Coors Light. It was nice to see the renovations done to the building. You can still see all the old character of the building, but it has a really nice flow and is so clean and bright! If you ever went into the Olde Irish Alehouse, you'd be very impressed that it's the same place! One thing that was strange when we went in was no host stand/reception area. You either go to the right, where there's a hallway, or through the middle of the dining room. We opted for the middle of the dining room, as we didn't know where the hallway ended up. It ends up in the bar, so perhaps they could do with a sign pointing people that way when there isn't someone out front. The man and woman working at the bar were delightful. Don't know if they are the owners or not. They kind of seemed like they could have been. They were both welcoming and attentive. Menu looks to have some good options for dinner as well, and they have a kid's menu, so we will definitely head back for a family meal! read more

I recently hosted a party for 50 people in the dining room. The room has a fireplace which added to the charm and atmosphere. Dealing with Maureen the Function Manager made the event planning a breeze, especially since I live out of state. She was always prompt in her responses, pleasant and helpful. Noreen served us during the party, she was efficient and a pleasure to deal with. The luncheon buffet was very good, especially the meatballs and chicken/broccoli ziti. Quaint building that seems to be on the water, but we were there at night and very tired so we didn't explore. We sat at the bar and the room felt cozy, even on a chilly night in a room full of the windows. I didn't get the impression that this would be a place to watch sports, but there were at least 4 TV's at the bar and many people watching basketball, hockey and golf. The bartender was friendly and prompt. My friend ordered the chicken alfredo pasta, which the bartender said was very popular and I ordered the shepard's pie. She enjoyed her alfredo but I personally think it could have had a little more broccoli in it. But I'm a veggie lover and think there should always be more veggies. The shepards pie was piping hot, right from the oven, which seems rare when you go out to eat. It took a long time to eat because it was so hot, which was a positive thing because it made me appreciate the flavors more than if I had scarfed it down in my hungry state. It had a nice ratio of meat, veggies and potatoes. Melted cheese was sprinkled on top and was a little crispy. It was a perfect meal on a chilly evening after a long day of traveling. I am leaving this review after no response from a voice mail or text I sent to Maureen, the catering manager. We booked a mercy meal for 50 after my dads burial last week. When my sister, brother and my dads wife went in to look at the room prior to the service, a gentleman showed them around and said that all the tables in the pub area were going to be set with linens, we would have the whole area, the food would be set up along the windows. Maureen and I discussed that we would be arriving about 12 and that the food wouldn't come out until the family arrived which we did about 12:20. We came in and there was the small room before you enter the pub set with linens and then 2 high tops set in the bar. The rest of the bar area was not set.The food set up was in the smaller room on 2 small tables. There were also people in the bar drinking that weren't from our party. I asked the bartender if Maureen was there and he said no. I asked who the people were and he said the party upstairs had 30 extra people so they needed to use our space too! "Sorry" So we had basically 12 people not in the same room and people from the party upstairs coming THROUGH our luncheon with their plates stacked with food to sit in the pub. Now the food. We waited until 1:10 for the first of our food to come out. I asked the bartender when it was coming and the response was the kitchen is backed up because of the party upstairs! It showed too because what came out was enough food for 20. a deli platter that looked like it was thrown on a plate of lettuce. A few hard dinner rolls and a platter OF SLICED ASSORTED BREADS cut at an angle. Your menu does not say bread but rolls. Rolls with a deli platter imply Kaiser type sandwich rolls not hard small dinner rolls. The meatballs were not homemade but a frozen that were added to a liquid sauce. My career has been in the restaurant business for over 15 years and I know and taste frozen meatballs when I see them. The food was gone and 10 minutes with no one checking on when it was to be replenished. When a guest asked me if there was more I asked the bartender when we could get more and he said the kitchen is working on it. The whole thing was embarrassing. I absolutely feel like because there was such a big party upstairs we suffered downstairs with just throwing things out. It was very disappointing. read more

It's a decent local pub. The food is just ok. Their staff is very nice! It's kind of a cool location - sort of over the river. They have lots of space for private events. It's always been pretty slow when I've gone on a Friday or Sat night, so if you're looking for a quiet night this place could be good. Maybe it picks up other nights though. read more

We were very unimpressed with the lack of professionalism exhibited by the Function Staff and Coordinator, especially via e-mail. The quickest response we received from the Function Staff was the reply they made to our request for the cancellation of our booking (six months in advance). The $100 deposit is non-refundable, and we felt its loss, but unfortunately, we were not willing to work with the Function Staff any longer. We are now searching for another venue for our party. If you're looking for a Function Staff team who responds promptly to messages, who upholds professionalism in all of their correspondence, and who provides high-quality customer service, then we do not recommend using the Function Rooms at Waterfords Restaurant & Pub for your event. read more

The place has potential, but some tweeks are needed. For starters, the place is LOUD. They need to install something to absorb the sound in the bar area - perhaps some simple valances over the windows?? It was 3/4 full and my husband and I had to shout across a high top table for 2 to converse. Also lighting was harsh early in the evening. It felt like last call lighting. Our table was between the bar and the riverfront ones which have direct overhead lighting, but we could have used table top lighting - maybe a candle? Fries with rosemary sprigs were hot and very good. Grilled flatbread was good as well. Mezzacorona pinot at $7 was good. The menu is smaller than I expected and a bit on the pricey side for the area and this type of place. They have got to do something about the diagonal parking closest to the entrance and the "exit" which has people driving off the curb. Signage would help, directing people to circle behind the gas station to exit. In the course of 5 minutes, I saw 3 vehicles drive off the sidewalk, one seriously scraping the undercarriage of his car. A fence? Paint on the parking lot? Signage? This has been a problem for years and I'm surprised the new management has not addressed it. I wish them luck in the new venture; a change was sorely needed at this location. But I'd like to see some of the changes above addressed before this becomes one of our "go to" spots. read more
