They said they would have to come out again the same person Lucas Cortez came out and said he can't do it for $700 anymore it would be more like $1400 . What the heck? If communication is something you need from a company then this isn't the one for you. They don't communicate. Numerous times they would just show up at my door, usually at 7am to do work and I wasn't notified at all from anyone. The design was agreed upon and when they came to dry fit it it was wrong, but my wife liked what they had so I didn't argue. The install was very sloppy. They installed lag bolts to hold the stair railing on crooked and when I asked where the decorative bases, to cover them up, I was told, "there isn't enough room for them". So I now have to look at crooked lag bolts that aren't flush or straight. They installed the wall railing so hard that the lag bolt holding it onto the wall caved in part of the wall. The actual product seems nice but the service and installation were less than stellar and they were very unprofessional in how they handled communication and the customer and the install wasn't clean or professional. Floats His Business on Customers Deposits! If I could give a zero rating I would. Originally, I decided to go to Cortez Iron because I recognized the name as an established business in the area. I obtained an estimate from Lucas Cortez for ironwork on my front porch for a security enclosure, front screen door, and two side gates in September 2018, paid the deposit. They advised me they were running a "little behind" which I thought was okay since I was not in a hurry, I just wanted quality work. But, it turned out to be more than 5 months! With numerous phone calls and emails in between requesting status, etc. Finally I just told Lucas, I want my money back! I was ready to go to small claims court to recover my deposit if need be, but he sheepishly agreed to give it back. He is just too expensive and takes way too long! When I went to the office to pick up my deposit, the office manager, his wife, had to the nerve to gloat that business had been really good and that they were so blessed. They even wrote a note apologizing and gave me a Starbucks gift card. Unbelievable. Zero business acumen, zero respect for his customers, or at least some of them. Bottom line, Lucas Cortez will work for some people, but not for others. Apparently, some customers are more equal than others! There are other good, reasonably priced ironworkers out there. read more

Second time I've used Lucas. Both times he came through. Great follow up and easy to get a hold of. This time I wanted burglar bars without the burglar bar look. He perfected lined up the bars to the lines already in my windows then he mounted them inside the frame. No one knows I have burglars bars just by looking at my windows which is exactly what I wanted. But I have the peace of mind read more

I scheduled a day/time for them to come to my property to quote a fence job and they never showed up. When I spoke with the person that I made the appointment with, he claimed that he called my house and no one answered (didn't leave a message). When I explained to him that I took time off work for this appointment and asked if he could come out he said he couldn't. That's when I told him not to bother scheduling a new appointment. I don't do business with people like this and you shouldn't either. read more

No show, No call back, No work despite of contract. 2 Iron gates they have done in the past, started rusting all over within a few years. Rehired him, and he promised to finish repainting job in One week. After one week, NO SHOW, NO WORK done....and NO CALL BACK. Cancel the contract, then he brought gate cover back with more rusted, more stained...nasty condition of the gate covers. read more

Just recently completed installing a gate that was motorized on one property and variety of wrought iron work including railings for steps on a second property. Extremely satisfied with the work done. One minor mistake was quickly corrected. In September 2011 I replaced a wooden gate with a metal gate which was designed, created, and installed by Cortez Ornamental Iron. The reason I am writing this belated review on how satisfied I am with this gate, is that I just noticed that after nearly 6 years in the outdoor elements of our Redlands climate, the gate looks as good as the day it was installed. This is a quality product that is made from scratch and contains an oven baked powder coating. The gate was designed with metal bars and mesh covering to allow pets to view beyond yet provide security. The workmanship is outstanding. Lucas Cortez was referred to me by a friend who is a contractor. We made the appointment and he came out to see what we wanted. I needed a long fence and two gates in an updated version of what I had. He gave me a price and took a small deposit. I was told 4 weeks but was suprised when called in 3 weeks to install . We scheduled a time. Lucas called me on his way to give me his ETA which was right on time. He showed up with two very clean and polite workers to help with the installation. This is a very professional clean and courteous company . The workmanship on my fence and gates was better than I even had imagined. Great company , great quality. So happy! read more

Lucas has a great crew and builds quality wrought iron work. They built electric gate with backup battery for power outages also an enclosure for carport. All is powder coated so it will be very minimal maintenance. Looks very nice with the oak leaf trim and will hold up nicely here in Cedar Pines Park. Very timely and efficient. read more
