The day he, (Golden State Door), was supposed to show up to start the job, I texted him that morning and asked what time he was coming, and he texted back stating after 11. I texted again asking if the posts they were installing would also be powder coated since they were being installed that day. He then called back with an attitude stating he wasn't installing posts, and if I wanted my money back, he'd return it. Before I could answer, he said "This is too much pressure. I'll send you your money back." He had just informed me the previous day that he was going to be starting that day to install the posts for a gate. So I asked him, then why are you coming out today, and he said to clean up. What? All I could think was, clean up what? He hadn't even started anything yet. It was clear to me that after he had received the deposit, he wasn't going to show up that day at all, and my text asking him what time he was going to come out, set him off, or either he was planning to install painted, and not powder coated posts for my gate. If the two questions I asked him was too much "pressure" for him, he really needs to find another job. He really has a bad disposition problem and should not be working with the public, which was obvious after reading thoroughly through his reviews. You really should check out companies and thoroughly read reviews before bringing strangers onto your property. Lesson learned for me. I am at fault in this transaction, because I rushed and didn't check him out just trying to get the job done and out of the way. 45" after sending the deposit to him, I had received two (2) much much better quotes, but I didn't want to back out and cancel on him, even though he didn't give me a contract, which should have been a red flag. So, in my case, his rotten attitude worked in my favor. I didn't have to feel bad canceling on him, and I was able to work with a stable person from a company, with great reviews and service, for a much better price. As far as his below response: 1) I'm not sure what he is responding to. I never said anything about him having other customers ahead of me or him stating it would take 7 days to complete the job. Taking 7 days to complete the job is not the problem. The problem is him scheduling a day to come out and start the job, which, from his own admission, he had no intentions of doing. 2) I'm not sure if he is getting people confused or what, but I never called him at 5:45 in the morning. As a matter of fact, I never called him. I texted him at 7 in the morning to find out what time he would be arriving so that I could make sure someone would be there, and then at 8:15am to ask about the posts. 3) His communication is horrible! Once he made sure to receive that deposit, he had no intentions of coming out that day to start the job. If something came up and he was not going to show up or even if he, for whatever reason, no longer wanted the job, it's just called Professionalism 101 to let the customer know, especially after he had made certain to collect that deposit. 4) I'm not sure what causes his confusion and memory lapses, but the deposit I gave him was not for $300. Maybe he needs to really consider starting his day earlier at 5:45am, because HE NEEDS TO GET IT TOGETHER! and God bless him too. read more

My 30yr gate motor finally went out and so I called Ramiro again. He gave me a reasonable estimate and Ed came out a few days later to put in the new motor and attach it to my existing gate. Not only did he do great at what was expected, but he also added in a couple of nice extras (without me asking) to make things look better and be more functional. When the work was done, Ed took the time to explain how everything worked and what to do if anything went wrong. And Ed was always cheery and smiling when we spoke! We just purchase a home that needs some remodeling. One of things the home needed was a new double gate and gate opening equipment. I searched a few places on Yelp and Google and came accross Golden State Door out of San Berdu. When I first called Ramiro from Golden State Door, he actually answered his phone! Say what!? A contractor answering his phone means two things...they aren't busy, or they handle their business. When i shared what I needed with Ramiro. He asked for pictures so he can determine what he could do to help. I sent the pics of the gate work we needed, and the equipment needs. He came back with some ideas of equipment that well suited our first world problems of wanting tech. Ramiro recommended the door bird for the keypad, lift master gate equipment. He also quoted the gate replacement. Overall his quote was competitive. I had one other quote. In fact I didn't entertain the other quote because Ramiro was thorough in explaining the equipment specs and details. As embarrassed as I am to admit, I was sold. I WAS FREAKEN SOLD! Ramiro was on it from day one and patient in waiting for us to be ready to get the project started. The overall installation took a total of 3-4 days because the gate work was extensive because of grade of our driveway. Then we ran into wireless issues because of the distance from the house (with stone walls) to the gate equipment. Well Ramiro took care of the wireless issue with some high tech stuff I never heard of...I figured I'd leave the work to the pros. And I'm glad I did. I was looking for someone to repair a dented garage panel after a car backed into it. I thought it would be an easy fix since it seemed like it could just be taken off and hammered back into shape. I called five other companies and they all said they don't repair dented panels. They said they usually replace the entire panel, but with supply chain issues due to the pandemic, they might not be able to find an available panel. One company even said that the best they could do was replace the entire garage door for $6000! Golden State Door is incredibly responsive. I was out most of the day and got a message that my Mom's garage collapse and she needed help. I checked a few companies she used in the past but they were out of business so I checked with Yelp. Yelp pulled up several companies and most of the companies gave an estimate that ranged from $100-400. Although cost is important, timing was crucial. I did not want my Mom's garage open so when I got an estimate from Golden State Door and spoke to Ramiro, the Owner, that he can come today we were relieved. Ramiro came a couple hours after I made the call and helped my Mom. He had to fabricate a piece on the spot but was able to finish the job. I found Golden State Door on Yelp because my garage door broke a pulley cable on the left side and garage door was pulled to the opposite side by the right side cable which was still good. The garage door was skewed and wouldn't close. I called Ramiro and asked if he could look at the door. He said yes and worked according to my schedule. After replacing the cable, replacing two rollers, and straightening the tracks/guides, he tried the 20 year old opener and it wouldn't operate as expected, so we ended up replacing it as well.
