In an Amazon - Costco - Best Buy world, it's rare to find an 80-year old local TV store in the same location, whose service and installation exceeds the quality of the best TV's; and more amazing that they match the big retailer TV prices. But it's our good fortune to have the multi-generation owned Cos Cob TV & Audio that has been meeting this standard in our area even before my first happy experience with them 30-years ago. The store has expanded from its initial analog TV repair to major home TV theater, security systems and other large smart home projects. They also bring all this to the small residential projects like mine, which is also rare. When I first moved to Cos Cob, the original owner recommended an analog SONY Trinitron VEGA TV whose picture tube still works, but digital has passed it by. I've since bought two smart TVs from them, the latest needing a complex wall installation requiring cable concealment. From setting up the initial site inspection with Joe at the store, to Conner's perfect installation, which is separately charged, they are great to work with. I also wanted to redesign my "too little work space" 4' x 2' home office desk and install Ergotron arms for my computer displays. Their other tech, Jason, expertly took on the home office project, drilling the needed desk grommets, installing the Ergotrons and concealing the cables, giving me needed room to work. I contacted Cos Cobb T.V to update my old sound system and television set up. They sent over the actual technician that would be doing the job so he could consult with me all the details and fully understand what I was looking to accomplish. They sent me a detailed quote within a couple of days of our meeting and outlined in detail all the work that was going to be done and the equipment I would nee for the job. After a few more questions I booked the job and they sent over two outstanding technicians to install my new Sonos system and mount and install my new 75" T.V. All I can say is they were better than expected, they were experienced, neat, worked all day with no wasted time and ended up doing an outstanding and beautiful job, under budget. I am so happy I chose Cos Cobb T.V. For this very important installation as they did a better than expected job in my home. I moved to Westchester from a 1 BR apartment a couple of months ago and was somewhat overwhelmed with how to organize a houseful of electronics (TVs, sound system, wifi, etc). Cos Cob to the rescue. CC came to my house, made recs on TV sizes, wifi mesh system, sound systems, speaker placements and anything and everything else. They then went back and submitted a proposal detailing what they would do in each room and the charge. They simply pass on the cost of the equipment itself and add on a labor charge. They visited our house three or four times and spent a lot of time on the phone with us, yet stuck to the original labor estimate and delivered impeccable service. The cost was incredibly reasonable for the service provided and I truly enjoyed my time with the team. Could not recommend any more whether you are looking for a single TV or a whole house project. read more

This place is great. #1 - they match prices on Amazon/Best Buy, so you don't need to worry about getting the best deal. #2 - they know all about the latest gear so you save time doing research, huge plus over internet purchasing. #3 - they have a very professional installation team who do great work. #4 - they know great local service people who will do any additional work required for an install that they can't do. I bought my home theater setup before I knew about Cos Cob TV, but I asked them to evaluate my house for an upcoming wiring project. I had wanted to run speaker cable through the wall and reroute my TV and network cabling to a central location. Sean came out to provide a free estimate for me, spending a good amount of time going over every aspect of my request. After considering the project, he offered some suggestions based on what I wanted that might make the cost reasonable while still achieving the result I needed. He took some time to put together an estimate and got back to me in a few days with two proposals: One conservative and one all-out. In the end, I decided to do the work myself, so I can't speak to the quality of their installs, but Sean was very accommodating and really helped clarify what my options were, provided me alternatives, and quoted me a fair rate for a laborious service. I plan to do business with Cos Cob TV in the future, once I can no longer resist the call of their McIntosh electronics. read more

I went in to buy a flat-screen wall mount for a 32" LCD TV. The staff were helpful in helping me choose the correct mount, as well as selling me two heavy duty wall anchors (which I did not actually need for mounting my TV, and they did gladly take back). So I paid $110 for the mount, plus tax. A little high I thought, but they had it in-stock right there. Now I know not to expect "internet" prices for a shop like this, and I'm perfectly fine paying a premium to an indie-owned business for their knowledge and experience. But once I got home, I did find the same mount available at several major online retailers for significantly less (around $50). I returned to the store to request an adjustment for what I paid (meeting in the middle between the online and retail prices-- around $80), but I was declined any refund by the employee in the shop. Only after posting on Yelp did Sean, the owner, get it touch with me and kindly offered me a full refund of the difference between the twp prices (about $50). So in the end, I did get a good deal from Cos Cob TV. If you have any issues like this, you should contact the owner Sean directly, as he quickly resolved the issue to my satisfaction, as I would expect a local, independently-owned business to do. While the punctuality of the project could have gone better, we waited close to a week to undergo the project, the professionalism of Cos Cob TV is second to none. I had recently undergone some major renovations and decided to take a friends advice in seeing Sean about what we could do about distributed audio throughout the home (we went the Sonos route). After a personal consultation he built a quote exactly to my needs and we only went off the mark a hundred dollars or so - which for the amount of work was done is quite impressive. Needless to say I am happy with the service I was provided and their technicians were courteous and knowledgeable - a rare find these days among cable technicians who seem eager to simply staple to the wall and call it a day. read more

These guys are great! Fed up with my ancient collection of a too small tv and stereo components collected since college 35 years ago, I stopped in to see how Cos Cob could help me. Tony helped me a low pressure relaxed way and gave me an idea of what was possible within my reasonable budget. Then he suggested that Sean the owner come by inventory my aging Rube Goldberg system. Sean explained how most of it was ready for Craig's list or recycling - I couldn't disagree. Sean pushed the installation schedule ahead and Robert installed my new Samsung TV and Sonos in three rooms; now all of my music is coordinated and can be heard where we spend all of our time. Robert did a great job installing it AND training this 57 year old how to use everything! It was even more than I had hoped for. We had these guys come in to our new house for a new wi-fi network using several Apple Extremes. Punchline is that they were great! They were very good on adhering to our views/thoughts on what we wanted and were never pushy - this was very important since we are "somewhat to quite a bit" knowledgeable (at least we think so) on technology and had some clear thoughts on what we wanted. Installation was on time and very good. The technicians were polite, cleaned up everything before they left and were very efficient - the last one is especially important since they were getting paid by the hour. Would highly recommend! Only suggestion for improvement is that they should do a better job of co-ordinating internally - sometimes it felt like we had to speak to the specific individual we had previously spoken with since others were less knowledgable on our project. read more

Sean, the owner, must have been having a bad day this week. I inquired with him directly about doing an install and after we had a brief discussion, he told me I would be better off going to "BEST BUY" (as if Best Buy is beneath him). I did go to "BEST BUY", and the equipment was 30% less expensive and the customer service reps and installers were so much more pleasant and interested in my business. I tried to give the local guy a shot, but it simply doesn't pay when it comes to electronics this day in age. I was thrilled with Cos Cob TV. My Mac hard drive ran out of space and the Apple store wasn't that helpful - basically can only sell me new stuff. But Cos Cob TV offered to upgrade the hard drive at a very reasonable cost, and same day-no appointment service. They totally knew what to do, and did fast and professionally. For me, a perfect service experience. I'd go back again for buying hardware and certainly for services. read more

I'm lucky to live in an area where there are still small, locally-owned businesses like this. You can walk in and get stuff done, talk to a human being and not waste a lot of time. I got my iPhone screen replaced there today. They did the same thing on my wife's iPad about a year ago. These are probably small potatoes for them -- I assume they make their real money wiring Greenwich mega-mansions -- but I felt well treated despite the modest tab. Being able to get in and out of a store quickly without parking hassles, lines, no-nothing clerks and silly procedures is worth paying a little extra (although it looks like these guys will match chain prices). And it feels good to do business with neighbors. Next house move, maybe I'll just ask them to install everything and save myself some grief. And, as another reviewer mentioned, it's fun to droll over their beautiful McIntosh audio units with tubes! Anyway, great local resource -- I'm glad they're here. read more
