I've had one great massage therapist in that span and when she moved away i have seen more than I can count trying to replace her. She set the bar high and when your really trying to manage pain and stay ahead of it, a simple one size fits all Swedish massage just doesn't do the trick Finally I found someone who can give a TRUE deep tissue massage. Dean is very professional and knowledgeable and I was comfortable right away. He is intuitive and has great instincts which goes a long way in reading body language and finding all those tough knots and trigger spots. He was able to work out what feels like years worth of kinks and tightness in one session! I didn't have to continually ask him to adjust pressure and he didn't miss a single sore muscle. I was so miserable when I got there.I had to sit sideways and couldn't turn my head without pain. I left with full mobility in my neck and hip and he was even able to identify and truly help other problem areas I had been ignoring since the pain was tolerable in comparison to my areas of concern. No other massage therapist has taken the time to do this before! The business is clean, professional and the staff are friendly. The ambiance in the room itself was spot on. I was completely comfortable and relaxed. The price is excellent.I would and have recommended him to anyone needing a serious massage. The paperwork sets very clear boundaries about expectations on your behavior prior to coming to the office and once you get there, i.e. wash your hands. But no where does it state a $1.50 fee for using your flexible spending account charge card to pay. And neither did the therapist mention to me there is a fee to use a credit card. This type of behavior does not build trust. The therapist was not very attentive and did not check in with me to see how I was doing at all while I was getting my treatment. I saw him twice and decided not to see him again. That whole place gave me a weird not friendly customer service vibe. More like a hurry up and get out of here vibe.

After two visits with minimal adjustments and some stretching the pain is gone, and it hasn't come back since (it's been at least three months). What I appreciate about Dr. Lathrop is that he takes his time, doesn't over-prescribe adjustments, and doesn't up-sell to get you to come back for services you don't need. On my first visit he spent an hour asking about my health and habits, watching the way I walk and sit, and feeling my back. Then he stretched my lower back and showed me stretches I could do for self care. The second visit was a follow up. He made one more adjustment and sent me on my way. His goal is to provide you with the tools to keep yourself healthy on your own (if possible), not to get you on a rotating plan of unnecessary visits to make a buck. Finally, he's very aware of your personal space and always asks to to make adjustments, explaining as he goes. I'm not too anxious about that stuff, but it was certainly appreciated. I always felt comfortable in his office. As someone who was nervous about taking that first step in chiropractic medicine, I can highly recommend Dr. Lathrop!

The hot towel and cupping was great however didn't seem like the person knew what they were fully doing. Lastly I know the cost of living has went up, but this was my first and last visit as no reason why someone should be paying $200+ for a massage period.
