The staff is so friendly and nice, and Ve the new owner is very sweet--SHE always has a smile on her face upon welcoming the guests in, and also while saying thank you, on their way out:) They offer a complimentary beverage during your stay, and I always get the Viet Coffee!! I get my lashes done here every 2 weeks (refill) by Mai. Rumor had it they were under new ownership so I decided to give it a try.. Wow. Mai does an excellent job on my lashes, they are perfect every time. I get so many compliments. But beyond that Mai is a very kind beautiful lady. Cosmo Lux Nails & Spa in Fairwood is under new ownership and they're offering 20% off of services. The new owner Ve (pronounced vee) was very sweet, she's done my nails before at another salon as an employee. I'm happy to see that she's reached a goal of owning her own salon. She did a great job on my gel extension set, it's basically GelX. I normally do it myself at home but it takes me a very long time. So this was a nice treat. I was surprised at all the services that they offer and it's more affordable than other places that I have been to. I didn't need to pick anyone in particular so while I selected a name during the booking, I ended up being helped by Mimi instead - and she is great! :) I asked for a shellac mani and classic pedi and total time was between 10:35am-12pm. There were quite a few regulars who were being helped during this timeframe and one brow walk-in that they accommodated. Mimi gave the best foot/calf massage and it was such a treat to get my nails done as I am pregnant. She was very accommodating and not too harsh in any way. The salon itself was clean as were the tools used. Some things inside looked a little out dated but nothing that would deter me from going again considering this is a very convenient location. I love Anne, period point blank! I was getting ready to get my pedicure and I showed this nail tech a picture of my old nails Anne did the last time to help match it like Anne did last time...let's just say she didn't hit the mark because it was no where near the color and I also felt rushed. Anne started doing my nails and I asked her what the ladies name was that did my toes and right away she assured me she would fix my toe nail color. I didn't even have to say anything, she instantly knew It wasn't right. She did a beautiful job on my hands and took her time being very detailed like she always does. I come here fairly often and I'm surprised that this place could get anything less that 4 or 5 stars. I almost always make an appointment before coming in as it can get really busy on the weekends. Weekday mornings seem a tad more promising for walk ins. You can get water or tea complimentary. That's really nice as none of the other nail places I've been to offer anything to drink. I rarely get the same person when getting my full set or fill done but everyone does a great job! There was one new guy who I didn't care for as much as he'd use the electric file a little too long on one spot and the friction would hurt from it being so hot on my nails, but he otherwise did a good job. They obviously all take pride in their work and take their time shaping the nails to make sure they're perfect. I always get shellac with my sets and have never had an issue with it. Some of the girls do massage your hands, arms or shoulders while others don't. I think its more for their tips and not an actual part of the service. If I get it, awesome, and if I don't, that's fine too. I've gotten two pedis aside from my normal acrylic or shellac. The Polish is always applied well and evenly. It stays on for quite a while. I've been coming to see Mya for about 9 months and I'm always happy I continue to come. She always shapes them perfectly, and knows my length I love her! For about 4 months now- I've been getting Pink and White nails, and I can say with certainty that they look the best that I have ever gotten. The white is crisp and clean and there is never any overlap of the pink on the white. I've gotten 2 pedicures by Yen, and she does an amazing job. She gets all the calluses and cleans and shapes my nails so beautifully. I'm in dentistry and people see my hands and nails all day. I wish I could give zero stars. A terrible experience from the moment we walked in. We were met with attitude and dismissive behavior from everyone except the front desk guy. We did not get the services that we were originally told, and even after having to fill out a sheet of what we wanted, we had them try to not do them. Not one of the people working on our nails and hands talked to us until we had to remind them of our services. What I'm extremely upset and angry about is the fact that I paid $20 for a kids manicure that the polish literally came off in an HOUR from! We went from the salon, to eat lunch, home and by the time we were home every single nail had no polish left on it. I'm wondering if the cheap polish job came off while she was washing her hands (which should NOT be happening especially with these prices). Made an appt. for shellac pedicure. When I came in, I said that I still had shellac that needed to be removed. Once I sat at the chair, the woman attempted to remove my shellac as she would normal polish. I said again that I have shellac. She rolled her eyes and got up in a hurry muttering in another language. As she was using the drill to remove the polish, she burned my skin twice and was very rough. She asked me to pick out a color. When I asked for the shellac samples, she said, oh, you want shellac? Again, she seemed very frustrated. The entire time my husband and I received our pedicures, three of the women working the ped area talked and laughed in another language. I did powder dip covered with chrome. Turned out very nice. I came on a referral from a friend. It was a hike from where I live but her nails looked cute so I went. It was the most unwelcoming, uncomfortable and poorest quality I have experienced in a very long time. They were able to take me on a Friday afternoon on a moments notice. I thought that was odd because nail salons are usually packed on Friday afternoons. Cool, I thought but later realized maybe they're just not popular for some of the reasons I'll be discussing. I asked for a new full set and pedicure. When they asked what kind of nails, I showed them pictures of nails done in glow in the dark paint. I figured they wouldn't be able to do it, but it was worth a shot. They make themselves out to be quite the nail artists here on Yelp, but when I asked for simple designs they looked at me like I was an alien. After we came to an agreement on coffin, long nails they made ZERO attempt to mask that they were talking about me. Now I get this is normal for salons these days, but at least TRY to make it less blatantly obvious. It was rude and made me feel an inch tall. The older lady doing my pedicure was not nice at all. She looked like she hated her job or that she was smelling farts the whole time she worked on me. She kept tucking my skirt between my legs insinuating that she could see my hootchie but my legs were closed. It was just another attempt to make me feel small. It was the first time I felt like punching my nail tech. (Edit to add: after reading other negative reviews, it seems this place might have issue with big girls. Yep, if you're fat, they might treat you like dirt. Which might be why they treated me to badly as I am a big girl.) They asked me what type of pedi I wanted about 1/3 the way in to the service. After realizing how this lady was treating me, I asked for the cheapest one, $25.00. To that she sniffed and made an even worse face as she continued to work on me. The pedicure she gave me was below average. While she continued to smell farts (wasn't me, I'm very clean and gas-free!) she did not get all the callous off and she didn't even paint my entire nail beds making my toenails look unnaturally small. Worst pedicure of my life. It was not relaxing nor was it thorough or friendly. The manicure is average. It's day three after and my nails are already catching hair where the cuticle meets the nail. This was a different, meeker tech, while quiet, did not understand a word I was saying. They had to get someone over to translate. So uncomfortable. During service the tech kept digging her own nails into my skin and it hurt. She yanked my hands when she needed my nail at a certain angle and also wasn't the friendliest but did manage to crack half a smile. I wish I didn't tip them the 12 bucks they got. The service was actually cheaper than I thought it would be. They get the one required star for not having those cheesy nail pictures on their walls. read more

I came across this place while searching for a new salon near my house, the prices are a little higher than some other salons, but I don't mind. I walked in to get my nails filled, and to fix two broken nails. This young man was doing my nails, I think his name is Kyle. I just asked for my nails to be more of a (slight) coffin shape, and even showed a picture! I'm certain he understood me because I spoke to him in Vietnamese. ALL of my nails came out uneven! Some were too pointy, too small, too short! I didn't notice until later that day since I had to run errands and go to work. I went ahead and texted their number, and got a very nice reply from Chan. She offered for me to come in and get them fixed, also thanked me for being honest, very professional! Chan was with another client when I came, but Sam did his best to even out my nails, and he didn't seem to be in such a rush. He even came back and checked on my nails to see if they were dry. I didn't receive any attitude or rude remarks when I came in to get them fixed; trust me, some other salons would have not been so polite. I didn't get that same hospitality the previous day, and I appreciated Sam's wonderful job! After seeing the state of my nails on yelp, I was invited back for a complimentary manicure at Cosmo, to give them another shot. Since the color was on my toes too, I also asked for a pedicure, so I still ended up paying a bit, but I was more pleased with my services this time around. Mya did my hands, while Hien did my toes. What I appreciated was that after doing a coat of color on my hands, Mya noticed that the color was not going on well, and asked me if she could change it. She found a comparable color, and made sure it went on smoothly before proceeding. She did a great job cleaning up the edges as well, ensuring that the edges were smooth and rounded - this is the manicure I should have gotten before going to that wedding. I'll likely be asking for her going forward, should I return. My second experience here is certainly an improvement from the first. While still not an absolute favorite, I would return here for a friend's birthday or in anticipation of another event. The prices here are a bit higher than other comparable salons, but for the peace of mind of how clean this place is compared to others, I would make an exception. read more

They were nice, like I said, no attitude, but that's about it. My pedicure? Noooooo. I paid for the longer more expensive and more massage for your buck. But it was not worth it. The pedi girl barely massaged, and had no strength. D: that's the worst. She even left some of the hot pink polish I had from the last time still on the edges of my toes, and I was getting a French, so it was obvious. The front desk is so friendly. I would recommend making an appointment beforehand because this place can get busy. They do take walk-ins but the nail studio has become more and more popular. I am giving this place 4 stars because they are sanitary (open sterilized implements right in front of the client) and staff is friendly. They remember the polish colors I like and always bring me a hot tea :) I truly feel pampered here. I knocked one star because they really need to update their regular polish. When you first walk in you fill out a form; name, number, etc as well as what you would like for your service. That way it's all written down and no miscommunication. The girls are all beyond sweet and they speak English very very well! For my pedicure I had Kate, she was so very sweet and did a fantastic job! They line the foot spa with a disposable plastic lining (that way you know it's 100% clean.) All tools are packaged and opened right in front of you so you know those are clean as well. My manicure was done by Chan, the owner, and boy was she GREAT! She had a very soft touch and was so gentle! She worked meticulously until my nails and cuticle were shaped and groomed properly. I had to ask about picking a color and was left standing around with no clue of what they wanted us to do next.
