We have tried time and time again recently to give this place a chance but this will be our last time at the metro ale house. I can only assume it's new management or a careless owner since we've been coming here for years. The food quality is inconsistent and flavorless. The bar on the upper level is dirty and filled with fruit flies. Prices have gone up but not quality; I would happily pay for quality. The only thing saving this place is the service and even that has been altered. Be sure to ask for the chef or chef James unless you want your meal undercooked, over cooked, bland, or requests dismissed entirely. As for bartenders, enjoy your lipstick marks, red salt, and subpar drinks except the few that are no longer behind the bar. Best of luck Metro ale house read more

guess a negative we found is they do not notify you in case of an up charge. A friend in our party ordered the fettuccine Alfredo, the menu shows the item with chicken, its in anyone's natural instinct to say chicken Alfredo once say see it has chicken. once he got the bill, a charge of $4 was added for the chicken (not notified when ordered), in the restaurants defense the item description doesn't say it has chicken however menu doesn't specify a up-charge and our server failed to mention that as well. Second, I ordered the Saturday special Bloody Mary for $7, when she told me the vodka choices, I picked Greg goose, was not notified that a $1 charge would be applied.. I know I'm complaining about a $4 and a $1 dollar up-charge, however It's the principle behind it, imagine how often people who don't even bother to look at the bill or whoever pays for the entire bill just hands them their card or cash and doesn't even check what additional charges have been added ? In most cases people who have been drinking lol. Or if some people are on a budget, and they didn't expect the additional charge. Some people wouldn't even speak up. Server was nice enough to fix the charge from $8 to $7. I'm not hurting over a dollar, believe me I'm not. But some people are hurting for that. Again it's the principle behind it. Metro is a great place to eat. The food is always delicious! They also have banquet facilities upstairs. We held our 40th reunion for Pomona High Class of 1977 there on 7-1-17. The buffet options are very reasonably priced and the food was excellent. Working with Sal and Natalie was great. They were very flexible with our changing needs. The employees who worked our event were awesome. They were all helpful and friendly. As part of the reunion committee, I heard nothing but praise for the selection of the venue and the quality of the event. I highly recommend this location for their banquet facilities as well as a great restaurant. read more

We recently moved in across the street and have slowly been trying out all of the local spots. We tried going to the Rookery but it's closed on mondays so we tried this place. Good thing we did. We ordered the chicken pesto sandwich and the classic burger, both were delicious. Draft beer selection is great, we enjoyed the space dust and it was wonderful. I usually come here on Friday and the place is awesome! Im surprised that this bar serves my favorite drink Moscow Mule(the other bars in Pomona don't even serve this drink or know what it is). I love this place! There is such a fun energy every time I come in. The bartenders, especially Marvin and tony and so funny! They always have such a fun energy and manage to get to every customer so fast. I love coming multiple ones a week because I have such a great time. OK one star because the waitress gave us a tour otherwise negative stars. Came here on Dec 18th for my friends bday. Got there at 8 pm and it was DEAD except for a few people downstairs playing beer pong. We ordered a couple of diet coke and they were flat, our waitress was very nice and returned with some fizzy cokes for us. We had a party of 6. She asked if we wanted seperate checks which was very convenient so we said great! We ordered our food by 8:05 and by 9:30pm our food was still not there. Mind you it's all bar food, wings, nachos, tacos etc. After some frustration, a new waitress came to let us know our original waitress was leaving and she was taking over, which was not true she was serving the table next to us. We had not complained since we were in conversation until after 9, we asked about our food, and she came back with most of it at about 9:30 or after. One of our friends never got her food, the waitress said she checked on it and it looked gross so she had the cook redo it, so we said nevermind, it was close to 10pm. We decided to leave and asked for our checks, the waitress said she could not separate it for us, we also asked to use the yelp coupon and the manager said he had been trying to contact yelp to remove it and it was not valid, we told him about the poor service, food and drinks and his response was that the kitchen closes at 9pm, but we ordered our food at 8pm! He reluctantly allowed the separation of checks after a brief discussion with our table. Needless to say we will not return to this establishment. read more

Metro Ale house has potential. I kind of really want to like it there. We have hope for this place, there's new management and we'll probably end up going back during the time we live here. For now, it's not fun. The clientele is really ghetto and Gothic. And even the staff seems a little Jersey shore. Fortunately, the upstairs looks very nice because the building is an old Victorian, and it's new enough that it doesn't smell like a gross dive bar, But it feels like one. It seems like they are trying to have a nice venue, but it's a little underwhelming, the beer flights came in plastic shot glasses. We were sitting at a table in the upstairs, and one of the employees asked us if we would like to see a menu, but he left and never brought one back. Eventually we asked him for one, and there wasn't much on the menu that looked appetizing, so we decided to get some french fries. We ordered the french fries at the bar, and they simply never showed up. We left. If there was something interesting to eat there, it would have added a lot to our experience. The staff seems really nice, and we would like to like this place, but they need to change their demographic and their menu. And the music, and make it warmer inside, and be less goth. read more

And the dj played so much music my husband loves that my feet were killing me by the we left, a small price to pay for a fun night out dancing. The band tonight was "Orquesta Bonko". Their sound at times was so clean I felt I was listening to an edited, professionally mixed recording. And the DJ was DJ Jorge. The salsa venue had pretty chandeliers and was framed with large windows. Nice clean dance floor (and bathroom)! We will definitely come back. read more

I ordered the Grilled Chicken on a bun over the phone from their menu that I had. I got a call 5 min later to verify the order because there was more than 1 Grilled Chicken on their menu. I told the guy, I wanted the Grilled Chicken w/no bacon and the chipotle mayo on the side. The menu says Grilled Chicken breast, chipotle mayo, topped w/bacon, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomatoes, & melted provolone cheese. When I went to pick up the order, they added regular mayo, and some type of ketchup which I never requested. I had to ask 2x for blue cheese dressing and they had to bring the chipotle mayo because it was not in the order. When I complained to the guy about requesting it 2x, he had an ATTITUDE.....SAYING. " HAVE A NICE DAY, HAVE A NICE DAY & BE CAREFUL OF THE RAIN. When I went back to work, the Grilled Chicken had Cheddar cheese and red onions ....no caramelized onions & no provolone cheese. What makes me angry is I went over the menu 3x to get it right and just before leaving, this JACKASS has an ATTITUDE with me and could care less. I have no plans on going back there again......I'll take my business elsewhere. There's NO EXCUSE for giving me an ATTITUDE when you can't do your job right. read more
