I have had successful cuts here in the past, however, last Thursday I had a disaster. Normally, I color my own hair, but I decided to treat myself and have it done at a salon. TL;DR Overall a great place, highly recommend Alison but avoid Samantha. While this place can be hit or miss (avoid an appointment with Samantha), I've gotten more good haircuts than bad here. Today, I wanted a mullet, but wasn't sure exactly what to ask for. Alison exceeded my expectations by far, and truly gave me the best haircut I've ever had. She was talented and cheerful and pleasant to talk to, and really raised my opinion of this salon. I will make sure to try and schedule another appointment with her, and I would highly recommend her. After going to fancy salons for over a year an a half in an attempt to go platinum blonde, I decided it was time to go back to my natural brown color. I could not afford the $200 that my regular salon would have charged me, so after a friend suggested I try out Cost Cutters, I gave it a go. Right away I felt welcome and listened to. It is not a fancy salon, so don't have those expectations. It is a casual, friendly, fast-paced environment. I worked with Janet for my color, cut, and style, and I am SO happy with how my hair turned out. I couldn't have gotten a better result had I gone elsewhere - I paid 60$ for my entire service and got premium salon quality hair. I feel stupid for ever spending more. My experience was fantastic and I will most certainly be returning. I opened up a Yelp account just to leave this review -- if you have doubts about Cost Cutters, book with Janet and she will take care of you! It was my first time coming here and it was a really great experience! My hairdresser was very nice and to the point which I appreciated and did a wonderful job at cutting my hair. I got a shampoo, and cut, no blow dry and it cost about $20. I also walked in without and appointment and got taken immediately which was definitely nice! Before I went to Cost Cutters, I went to Cutting Crew in the Eastbrook Mall where they had over an hour before they closed but let me sit there for 10 minutes before telling me they couldn't fit me in. I made my way here last night like 10 minutes before they closed and the girl fit me in. I really appreciated that. She was friendly and gave me a good haircut even rebuzzing with a shorter guard after I changed my mind. I'm a guy so my haircuts aren't that difficult and I can't anticipate what girls will think about their quality but I will be going back here. read more

Worst experience for a salon in a long time. I brought my two kids for haircuts and the lady who helped my older son was rude as heck. She didn't smile once. Was not friendly at all. He is 7. Just nasty. The two women (both blondes) who helped my younger son were both great. But the lady with the dark hair - horrible customer service. read more

First time I went had a good cut and roots touched up, with some highlights. The hair stylist was so nice cost me 150.00 including tip. However the second time I went I wanted root touch up and the highlights didn't last so those done too. The stylist I got she was rude and angry right off to me. Told me that highlights are done every other visit and I told her the front washed right out she could see that. She left me and went to mix the touch up which made me believe I'm not getting any highlights in the front. She came back and literally was rough on my hair pulling and I didn't say a word to her. I wanted to leave but needed my roots done. So I thought if I just sat through this and get it done. While she was doing my hair she kept saying she was shaking, because she hadn't had anything to eat. I felt sorry for her because it was the Christmas rush and many people where waiting. I did make an appointment for my hair to be done. She finished the roots and disappeared out back and came back with another solution and tin foil. She did the end of the hair with the highlights, which I didn't expect. I was happy, I didn't push her to do anymore than what she wanted. She rinsed me out and I told her that she should go eat. She said no that she wanted to blow dry the color and see if I come out the way I wanted. At that point all I cared about is her eating and said I'll do the rest at home its fine. This cost 114.00 plus tip. She never took dye off my face, around my ears. But I did get the front only highlighted. read more
