We stopped in for dinner at Costa Azul when we stayed in Ft Pierce the night before our cruise out of Miami. It's a small place in an older strip mall. In my limited travels, that seems to be where we find the best Mexican restaurants. We started with the chips and guacamole dip. It was a great starter. The guac was as fresh tasting as it gets. Like most good Mexican restaurants, the chips were homemade. For our main course, at our waitress' suggestion, my wife and I shared the Cochinita Pibil. It was wonderful. The pork was nicely shredded and the sauce was full of flavor. It was served with tortillas, rice, and black beans. We really enjoyed it. One of the nice things about sharing a meal is that it leaves room for dessert. Also at our waitress' suggestion, we had the Azul Crepe. It was a crepe filled with cream cheese, deep fried, and rolled in cinnamon sugar. It is then quartered, arranged on a plate and ice cream is placed in the center. It was great. We look forward to coming back to Ft Pierce just to revisit Costa Azul. It is only about ten minutes off I-95 and we would definitely take the detour if were were going by at mealtime. read more

After several recommendations we decided to have lunch at this local Fort Pierce establishment and we are thrilled we did. Simply stated, it was the most delicious and freshest prepared Mexican food we have had since our arrival in Florida two years ago. Upon entering we immediately noticed the immaculate interior, were welcomed by the friendly engaging and very accommodating owner/operators and served delcious chips accompanied by a warm black bean sauce and a salsa while we explored their extensive menu. We ordered from the Lunch menu, portions were plentiful, I had the Beef and Chicken Fajitas and my wife had the Enchiladas with a combo of red and green sauces. The ingredients were so fresh and expertly prepared, the peppers and onions crunched to the bite, the salad was crisp, the refried beans were home made with no trace of pastiness like at most Mexican restaurants that serve it from a can. The yellow rice was done perfectly and the main courses were cooked superbly with a wonderful balance of spices that delighted in every way. We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our meal and are confident you will too! Thanks again to the staff for making our experience at your restaurant such a delight. WOWZAHS!!!!! Ok, I lived in Mexico for 5 months and the food here takes me back to that amazing time! The food is just absolutely delcious! Also, the weekday lunch special here is pretty much the best deal around for high quality awesome food. The couple who own the restaurant take great pride in their food. In about 7 visits, there has only been one food item someone at my table didn't like, due to preference, not food quality. First time visit this past Friday with coworkers. The restaurant got a bit busy and the timing on the service suffered a little bit. The owner was helping us herself and unfortunately, there were errors in our food orders. I ordered Chilaquiles and what I got the first time was apparently the Northern version - but the version on the menu was the Southern version. When I complained that my food was not what I expected, the owner went into the kitchen and remade my dish herself. Despite the slip ups in service, the food was really tasty. I'd give this place a second try but with not with as large a party, and I'll probably time my visit earlier in the day for lunch. read more

The reason we chose this place was because of Yelp. THANK YOU YELP!!! AMAZING service, and food. Quality #1, something many places forgot about. Real off the bone chicken, not processed at all. Prices are very reasonable. Even my unsweetened ice tea was just $1.49 and you actually tasted tea. Most restaurants today give you something that resembles tea but doesn't taste anything like it. You actually could taste the tea, fresh brewed, not instant tea. My Chimichanga was loaded with cheese and was baked not fried. Much more healthier, so much appreciated to the management. I only gave them 4 stars because we ordered a Margarita they didn't put much alcohol in it. Now it could have been a wine Margarita....but I doubt it they never said it was, that would explain the low alcohol content and being sweet. We ordered guacamole and Queso, although they were good the chips were ehh. I had a couple of stale chips in the basket. Four people and the basket was rather small anyways. Make sure you order the Flan. It was awesome. It's in a small plaza that I felt safe walking to the car. It's just outside of bro-ville. There is a Boost Mobile, and Dunkin doughnuts in the plaza. Delicious lunch options! Fast friendly service. I'm usually in and out in 30 minutes. I order the chicken flautas and it comes with rice and beans. I don't have a favorite dish because, honestly, everything is so flavorful. The prices are unbelievable for the portion you get. Well worth it. Now, years later, upon the prompting of a friend, I walked through the door of Costa Azul and saw the missing chef!!! He and I talked about the time passed. Pretty good food and lunch specials. But service never very friendly and most recent visit took 15 min to order and 45 min to get food when the restaurant wasn't even crowded! Food isn't that great to suffer thru terrible service and long wait times. If service and time management was better id be a regular but 2 try's will be all for me. read more
