I was visiting a friend in Ft. Pierce and saw Costa Azul on Yelp. I like Mexican food and the reviews were good, so we went for lunch. It's a small place, not real fancy but comfortable enough. It's in a strip mall, but don't let that fool you. This place is great! I could tell right away that it's run by the owner. There was just a feel to it you get when the staff cares. Our waitress was the sister of the owner and was friendly. She brought chips and salsa to the table and I ordered the pork Burrito. When it came, I could tell right away it was just made virtually from scratch (I can't say they made the tortillas from scratch, but I wouldn't be surprised). It was steaming hot and had obviously just been put together. It was generously filled with ingredients that were fresh and hot. I was going to ask for some salsa or taco sauce, but realized the sauce topping the burrito was generous (not just for show like some places), so I dug in. It was delicious! I forget what my friend ordered but he was happy too. The whole bill came to about $20 (sodas, not liquor)! Next time I'm back in Fort Pierce I'll be sure to find Costa Azul. I expect them to eventually move to a fancier place after word spreads and their business grows. They're doing it the old fashioned way...they're earning it! read more

Today goes down as memorable. I've finally found a local ethnic restaurant that I can feel real comfortable bringing Fort pierce friends and guests to. Situated at the corner of a tiny strip mall, the Costa Azul's clean and well orchestrated interior welcomes the hungry in search of a non-run-of-the-mill authentic experience. After the succulent and spicy shrimp appetizer, we dined on chicken enchiladas with salsa verde and on a dynamite dish simply named Mexican Chicken. The seven perfectly cooked jumbo shrimp rested on a plate of sweet crunchy onions and mushrooms. The spiced oil should be labelled medium to hot, though for us it was perfect. OMG... The Mexican Chicken offered chunks of white meat tossed in a poco de gallo salsa. Muy sabroso! The 3 Chicken enchiladas were filled with perfectly cooked chicken tenders rather than dry shredded chicken. The refried beans were as others have noted made from scratch. If you've never had homemade...the refried beans are worth the trip themselves! Good prices ($7 off the lunch menu), great service --- the cook came out and smiled and chatted proudly--- and a modern spotless bathroom will bring us back again and again. Finally, the menu offers items not found elsewhere, notably the Conchinita Pibil, a dish I know from Merida, Mexico. Amazing find on the Treasure Coast. read more

You might drive right by this restaurant, but don't. This is what I look for in a family owned and run Mexican restaurant. Good food and a warm atmosphere. We were lucky to be there on a Saturday night for the entertainment. The singer with his guitar was wonderful. We enjoyed meeting the owner and cook, his wife and her sister and the seeing the grandmother helping out. Even some of the kids were hanging around, kind of cool. read more

My son and I have been dining at Costa Azul since we moved to Fort Pierce, close to three years ago. I have also brought out-of-town guests to Costa Azul. We have never been disappointed! The food is delicious and always satisfying and the owners and staff are lovely. It is truly a family restaurant. I was looking for a unique local Mexican place and this was exactly that. Starting with the chips with homemade sauce and refried bean dip which was excellent. I had the beef burrito which sounds very usual but the meat was very tasty and the special green sauce was great. Very good food. Not typical Mexican place with a choice of 26 combo meals. Fresh ingredients... The corn tortillas of my enchiladas actually tasted like corn! Very rare. Even the rice and beans tasted and looked like rice and beans, not a pile of mush from a can. Service was good. Food came quickly. Didn't try the margaritas but I do see decent bottled beer selection. Fairly small place with maybe 15 or 20 tables. I would definitely come back for the food. read more

Service was attentive and prompt. The food was excellent at a great price. This place is situated in a strip mall end cap and has a small footprint, so large groups might have trouble being accomodated. The Costa Azul really has the feel of a neighborhood restaurant with regulars who know each others names. Seems like a great place for lunch or dinner. Costa Azul is awful. Can't believe it is so highly rated. Forget that it's in a bad area of Ft. Pierce but the food is not good. Got three pork tacos and two ground beef tacos. They were just the meat in a soft shell. That's it. NO cheese , tamatoes , onions , sour cream , lettuce. A light sprinkle of sauce that was tasteless . When I asked for cheese the young waiter said"oh you want cheese".. I didn't know tacos came without cheese . Mom got a chimichanga that again had know filling . Maybe I don't know anything about authentic Mexican cuisine but this place blows. Never going back. read more

Costa Azul never disappoints! Absolute best guacamole EVER! The quality is always there. This family owned spot is so cozy and the service is wonderful as well. My favorite dish is Angelo's Shrimp! This place is a hole in the wall. Amazing food that is fresh and hot when it comes to your table. They give you chips with different types of salsa that everyone will love.
