Huge thanks to Michael and Thanuri for saving the day... Long story short, my husband and I had a little mixup with a hotel reservation on a recent weekend. We were in town for the PPA Newport Beach pickleball tournament with the kids and when we arrived at this Costa Mesa Marriott late on a Thursday night, we were told that they didn't have our reservation. After a bit of digging, we realized that my husband's actual reservation was at a different property, but we were able to stay at CMM instead thank goodness! The rate we were given was reasonable for our 1 bedroom suite with two double beds and it worked out well. Not sure if my status or our luck helped, but we also had access to the lounge for breakfast which was such a nice touch. I know this hotel also has a restaurant / bar and a fitness room but I didn't get a chance to take advantage of either. The hotel room itself is probably four stars and could use some renovations, and there was an issue with the elevator on our floor during our stay, but thanks to the hospitality of the staff, I'm going with five stars for this one! read more

This is our go to hotel when we head down from Agoura Hills to Costa Mesa to visit our kids and grandkids. Rooms are very nice and we always get a mini suite. Not sure if all of the rooms in the hotel are this style? Staff is attentive and very courteous. This weekend we worked with Jacob at the front desk who is a real professional and could not have been any nicer. We have been staying here for a couple of years, at least a few times each year and have always enjoyed our stays. Forgot to mention the breakfast is also very nice usually including eggs, sausage and potatoes, as well as danish, cereals, and oatmeal. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and affordable stay in a very nice part of Orange County. read more

We've stayed at this hotel three times, each time we come in town to see a show at the Segerstrom Center. The price is pretty good on Friday nights for the suites. The hotel staff are nice and they keep the place very clean. The only nit I have is that there isn't a dresser with drawers for your foldable clothes. Just a closet with lots of hangers. You can put some clothes on the shelf in the closet but it's really high. The room comes with a fridge and a coffee maker. But Marriott has the worst coffee. I don't know why they never provide a decent coffee. So bring your own brand or go out to find a local coffee house. Parking is $42 per night. You can walk to nearby restaurants and shows. It's a lovely getaway. read more

We had a one night stay here and while the hotel itself was nice we had a few issues with our room. The carpets were in some serious need of cleaning and the sofa bed had a broken spring and the footing of the bed was higher than the heading. My husband slept it on it in reverse. When the sofa bed was pulled out you couldn't walk around it. My daughter and I slept in the bed and while I was a bit surprised by the lumpy poorly made bed it was comfy. The bathroom was clean with nice lighting and amenities. I loved that the room came with a balcony overlooking the pool and courtyard area. Parking was in a gated structure. Room key need for entry & exit. I think we paid for parking but gosh I can't remember now. Our stay was a super short one and we didn't get to enjoy the restaurant or bar area. It's close to South Coast Plaza with shopping and restaurants. I would consider a stay here again if there was a need. read more

Everything was good. We loved the fact that we could walk every morning safely, then a,Starbucks store is right across the street. The only 2 things, which can be easily fixed, were that (a) trash was overflown in the front almost daily over night; and (b) trash on 8th floor was not picked up right outside the elevator. The Executive Housekeeper or GM should have walked the floors more often. For that, I took one star off. The man who checked us in but I forgot his name was very professional. read more

This is the last and 3rd Marriott property I've stayed at in this area near the Segerstrom! I've stayed at the Avenue of the Arts, the Westin, and now Marriott. If you want to know in terms of distance, closet (literally next door) to the Segerstrom is the Westin. Then Ave of Arts is across the street (across from Moma). Then Marriott is the farthest of the 3, on the other side of the pond. I booked under AAA rate via the Marriott app, got the self parking and check in via app was a breeze. The lady at the front was super nice when we checked in and they gave me an upgraded suite as a Platinum member, which came with the pond view, very nice! The room was spacious and the design of their bathroom and living room and bedroom was interesting but fun! It feels like there are 3 ways to get into the bathroom! Our view was perfect and during the day, if you open the balcony door from the bedroom and listen to the water fountain running outside at the pond, laying in bed and feeling the breeze with your eyes closed, you would think that you were at a beach front resort listening to the ocean waves hitting the shore! The room was super clean and bed was very comfortable! I didnt care too much for their toiletries. I think Westin still has the best scent toiletries. Parking is $39 and they did not give the AAA discount toward the parking like at the Westin. When we stayed at the Westin under AAA discount rate, they also gave us the AAA discount parking fee which brought it down from $39 to $10 or $15 I think. One other nice feature about this Marriott, like other Yelpers mentioned, is they have their M club lounge here. So this was very nice because our room keys were programmed for the M Club also and we had breakfast there. Although it was a very continental breakfast and very simple, but it was still nice. The Westin, even with Platinum did not offer free breakfast. Overall, If I have to rate the 3 hotels around here as a Platinum with Marriott, it would be Marriot, Westin, and if really have to then Ave of Arts. Marriott would give you overall the best perks as Platinum but it was a great stay and I would definitely stay again! read more

Stayed at this hotel during a business trip. Overall I would say that the hotel was nice. The staff was friendly and the rooms were tidy - although I did find a kids toy dinosaur underneath the couch! What I loved the most was the location. Perfect area for shopping and not too far from the airport! Just wish there were more amenities included - like bottled water. read more

We've stayed at the Costa Mesa Marriott a few times over the years. The location of the hotel is walking distance to the gigantic South Coast Plaza Mall. Staff have been cordial each of our visits. Parking garage is convenient, but not inexpensive. Rooms have been terrific each visit. We've always had a good night's sleep at this hotel. They have the lounge called the M Club for elite members. Compared to other Marriott hotels we've visited, the M Club here is lacking. There has been a lack of snacks and water compared to other Marriott locations. They don't as good a job of keeping it stocked. No big deal, though. Exception is for the breakfast hours. During the breakfast hours, the staff do a good job of keeping the breakfast food hot, fresh, and fully stocked at the M Club. After all our visits here, I'd have to say that the Costa Mesa Marriott is a fine choice to stay if you are traveling in the area. read more

This is a good 4-star Marriott. The area is okay. There's lots of hotels nearby and it's very convenient. The great thing about this place is sometimes they run a great discount. We got a room at much lower prices for a Monday night stay. The pricing here is hard to beat, especially if they are given a huge discount. In the meantime, the parking fee is a bit more, but occasionally they give out parking for free if you're lucky. So overall, if you're just paying regular place, this may not be the best Marriott to stay, but if you can get it at a huge discount, which is often $80 or less than $100, then this is a great hotel. read more

I love to stay at Marriott properties when I travel for work. I particularly liked this one - as it was located in an interesting and walkable area. It's near the Orange County Museum of Art and the Segerstrom Center campus. It was also a convenient walk to some great restaurants, bars and coffee shops (like Philz!). The room was a decent size, with a bedroom (queen bed) and living room set-up. It's nice to have a separate seating/desking area when traveling for work! I really enjoyed the balcony and sliding door that opened to it. It's rare to have operable windows in hotels anymore! I do wish there had been more common area seating in the lobby. As a regular business traveler, I enjoy having an area other than my room to hang out in. They had the bar and the dining area - and I saw people sitting there who weren't eating - but I would have felt uncomfortable sitting myself there, as it felt like it was an obvious dining area and not an intentionally designed common space. My breakfast service left me a bit disappointed. I did sit down about 30 minutes from breakfast service ending, but I didn't anticipate being ghosted as a way to get me to move along. My food was served, my room-service only ticket set at my table and then I never saw the server again. When I travel for work, I'm not authorized to put meal service on my invoice, so this became an inconvenience for me when I expensed my trip. I did have an unfortunate incident occur with another guest, however the manager Hugo was really responsive and empathetic in his response to the situation. It's uncomfortable for me to give negative feedback, especially when I see such a well kept facility with friendly employees. He shared that he felt that my incident was a perfect training opportunity and he apologized on behalf of the hotel for the situation. I felt heard and would not hesitate staying there on my next business trip. read more

I'm usually a big fan of Marriott and have stayed at many of their locations without issues but my recent stay at the Costa Mesa Marriott was not the best. Everything was fine until the last day. While I was on the phone with guest services, the side lamp randomly fell on me, knocking over my water, which spilled all over me and the bed. It was a pretty unpleasant surprise and not the kind of chaos you expect when you're just trying to get everything ready. On top of that, there was a lot of back-and-forth about the pet fee. One staff member told me it was $150 total for both of my pets, which is what I've paid at every other Marriott. But someone else later insisted it was $150 per pet and said that's what's on the website, which wasn't very clear when I booked. The inconsistency was frustrating and honestly made me feel like no one really knew the policy. Marriott is still my go-to, but I wont choose this location again. read more

I've been going to Marriott for about three years now not only because my father works at the one in San Diego but because of Service like Tyler gave today. Tyler was the front desk individual who helped me check in and it was probably the most seamless most informative and most pleasant experience I've had at a Marriott. I knew what was included at the hotel. The check-in was done in about five minutes tops and even offered up a few more things that I can do around the area in a very happy and courteous manner. I really appreciate you Tyler and this is the reason why I continue to become a Marriott fan. read more

We don't typically stay at Marriott properties but we decided to stay here due to the price-point for a one-night stay during the time we need. It is close to the shopping mall and all the asian restaurants we love frequenting. Since I booked through Expedia, I had issues linking my stay to the Marriott Bonvoy app. Parking was $39 a night, but at least the parking garage is secure. I did not see an elevator for the parking garage though, so keep that in mind. My husband and I did find the front desk staff who checked us in as unfriendly, tired, and bothered that we were checking in, so that is why I removed one star. I get that we were checking in at 10pm and he probably had a long shift, but we've also checked in late at other hotels (Hilton properties) and never felt this vibe from the staff at those hotels. Nonetheless, we liked the hotel very much. We booked a king suite and found the room clean and spacious. The shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were all-natural and smelled like essential oils. The bed was comfortable and we liked that the common room is separate from the bedroom. The decor is modern and clean, and they have great amenities. They also offer free yoga for hotel guests. Additionally, there is also a nice grassy walking trail right outside the hotel, and the gym had the bare necessities. We didn't get to use the pool, but we had a view of the pool from our room and it looks like it would be fun for families. read more

Check in was a breeze ... received complimentary bottled waters and my little one got to pick out any size candy bar from their little shop. We booked a deluxe suite and got tbe 9th floor. Gorgeous view of the lake and pool. Bed was comfortable and relatively clean. My husband and daughter went to the restaurant downstairs for dinner but unfortunately did not have a great experience. They ordered a pepperoni flatbread and a plain cheeseburger - the food took a little over an hour and it was nothing spectacular about it. Overall, it's an okay stay and in a very safe and convenient location. read more

Not a great stay. The first room we were given was occupied. But the keys worked and we were able to let ourselves right in. Huge safety issue. We went back down to the desk and the desk clerk was unapologetic for the issue. He was laughing as he tried to find another room. We booked a king and the new room was a full and a twin. He responded "At least there's no one in it". I'm not positive on his name but we were told the next day that it was Michael. The new room was weird but clean enough. We checked out as soon as we woke up and spoke with Chris. He was very helpful with cancelling the rest of our stay and comping our parking. read more

It is one of a kind Marriot which made Marriot what it is today . I really like it has a M club which offers really good options for its elite members . Elite floor adds additional charm and off course they have a full bar and a restaurant. There are so many restaurants just a few miles aways but at the end of the day before going to bed one or two drinks does not hurt . Does it . The entire process was amazing. We decided to spend 4th of July weekend at this location as a "staycation." From the beginning it was pleasant. Check in was so easy. Staryed here for one night on June 1st, using Marriott Reward points and based on my Bonvoy status got me upgraded to the Top Club Floor in a large room with a separate living room area with a 2nd flat screen TV. Used the M Club for Breakfast the next day and some light evening bites on our first night. Pool area was nice with two separate couch areas for families. On our first night we had dinner at Calo Kitchen (see my review on Yelp) located on the outer perimeter of the South Coast Plaza Mall. Don't recommend this restaurant as I was expecting something closer to a Javier's. What was nice about this hotel was that it was walking distance to the Metro Complex where they have a Nordstrom Rack as well as The South Coast Plaza Mall. From the moment we arrived, he truly went above and beyond to make our stay special. Traveling as a group can sometimes be hectic, but Ardrian handled everything with such professionalism, warmth, and genuine care. I've stayed at numerous Marriotts. I was so surprised how awful this was, especially considering the great location. Checked in with a representative that didn't tell me anything about the hotel, not even where to park or find my room or any amenities and only gave me one key. Then, the room lacked blankets and towels. I asked for more twice and they never arrived. They said they weren't in the JWA flight path and it was a quiet place, but that was a lie. Only one small lamp in the bedroom and the side lamp in the living area randomly fell and knocked over a cup of water and other items. Parking at $42 per night should have of allowed for more space. My compact car didn't fit. The sofa bed was uncomfortable and hurt my back. Do not recommend. At all. So many other great options nearby. Don't waste your money and time here. read more

So let me start off with the positives of this hotel. The front desk staff were always extremely nice. The one interaction with the bartended, she was extremely nice. Our room was spacious and had plugs everywhere. Housekeeping was very tidy. The gym was a decent size and also had a Peloton in it. Now the negatives. The gym had two out of five treadmills broken. The M Lounge is on my list for the all time worst M Lounge in existence in a Marriott property. The beverage cooler was constantly never filled and usually out of product. The evening social had crappy food options. The morning had the typical oatmeal, cereal, eggs, and your sides to go along with the eggs, muffin and yogurt. Every day I was there, they would either run extremely low or be out of product. Toe, there is no reason for that. Also, usually during the day there are snacks to grab, but not in this one. If you have privileges for a lounge and are picking it based on that, find another hotel. read more

There were some things about this hotel I really liked and some things I didn't. Positives: The hotel felt very new and smelled AMAZING The rooms were beautifully decorated and spacious The ac works well The shower items were all good Housekeeping was prompt and very nice/helpful Front desk staff also nice and helpful Rooms are basically soundproof The closet space in the king suite was very generous. Cons: I had to sign in to use the internet everyday. Can we stop robbing people for this? Seriously? Get a free membership to Marriott and it's free but having to sign in daily was so inconvenient. For EVERY device The parking is atrocious. Why are you charging me parking in a place like Costa Mesa. Are you kidding? This garage should've been free for guests. Total robbery The pullout couch in our room blocked the fridge. Lol. This is a bad design No complimentary water bottles when entering the room. I travel often and feel like this is pretty normal now to expect. The carpet was definitely stained pretty bad in one spot. The comforter when we came in was so clumpy and old it was like a blanket filled with balls. Luckily housekeeping switched this for me but seriously? Why is that blanket in circulation still? Gross. Overall the hotel felt pleasant but there were a number of small inconveniences that added up that felt frustrating when we were trying to enjoy our vacation. Overall I probably wouldn't mind staying again but would definitely check out other things nearby to see if I could have a slightly better experience. read more

I pre-paid for two nights through the Bonvoy app using Amex card. I paid for a room with a king bed. When checking in, the reception staff said their computer showed a one night stay; also, no king bed. I asked why and he mumbled something. How was he seeing something different on his computer than what was shown on the app? I was incredulous but really did not want to fuss. It was obvious he was covering for a mistake. The room assigned to us was dirty with black marks on the carpet. I went to ask for another room. I was informed the king room that I had paid for was given to a smoker and I could check out the room to see if I was okay with the room after it was cleaned. Absolutely not, I told the staff, because I was sure the room would reek of cigarette smoke. I have stayed in Marriotts all over the world but this property is definitely not worthy of the name Marriott; plus, I have never been to a Marriott that was dirty like this. This Marriott also arbitrarily changes rooms, a tacky bait and switch strategy and makes up excuses and lies to cover up this practice. Staff are surly and unhelpful. A terrible hotel. read more

Had a nice stay. Staff were very friendly. Towels were brought up quickly. The grounds are very pretty. Lots of places to eat within a quick drive. I liked that it was a quick drive to multiple beaches and shopping areas. Cons- There was nothing to set our bags on. Didn't like having to set our bags on the floor. For some reason they put me in a wheelchair accessible room when I did not reserve one. I do also have to say the floor looked and felt really dirty as well as the shower that still had hair in it. I feel like you can tell, when you walk into a hotel room, that it was freshly cleaned. This room did not have that feel at all. It sort of felt like when you walk into an old room that hasn't been dusted in a while. There was a dried up crushed bug in the fold out bed when we pulled it out But aside from all that we did have a positive experience and would stay again. read more

Costa Mesa Marriott was one of the hotels I stayed at for convenience when attending an event in the OC. I don't like driving at night so I rather check into a hotel and spend a few days locally around Orange County. My first time staying here and the outside looks a little old but the inside feels very modern and new! The bed itself was nice and comfortable. It's pretty quiet during my stay and I did feel like the room was clean! The pool itself was pretty cold and I don't believe it is heated. So if you like cold waters for staying healthy, take a ten-minute lap around the pool! You'll be wide awake after that! There is also a jacuzzi if you want to dip into something got! Just set the timer to start it up. I would recommend this hotel for convenience, quietness and also being clean. read more

The best part about this hotel is the M Club. Came here for a business trip. I typically stay Marriott because I am platinum. The room had no soap or body wash upon checking in. I immediately called downstairs and was told some would be brought up. Fast forward, next morning there was still no soap or body wash delivered. I started a chat at 6:30am and I was told some would be brought up. As of 8:14am still nothing. My keycard didn't work for the M Club. I had to have it activated. As of this review still no soap, so I had to borrow from a colleague. There was a stain on the carpet. Thankfully this is just an overnight stay. I likely will continue to Patronize Avenue of the Arts. read more

Very hospitable cleanish and very nice facilities. They are a favourite among business travellers. Location is perfect.

I've stayed here a few times over the years and found it to be a very, very pleasant experience. The staff is always nice and friendly. The rooms are modern, spacious and very accommodating. Some have nice views of the man-made feature or the pool. It's conveniently located in downtown Costa Mesa, and a short walk from South Coast Plaza. There's museums and entertainment all within a short walk. There's also an M club lounge. But the offerings there are fairly limited. They give a basic breakfast and then have beverages available throughout the day but that's about it. It's been a pleasant experience. I think the lounge could do a bit better, which is why I'm knocking off one star. Overall I'd clearly consider staying here. I think it's a combination of space and value for the area in a modern clean package. read more

I recently stayed at the hotel for a night as I was doing an event nearby. I got in around noon and they were able to get a room for me right away. I did not have to wait until later in the day. I had the room all the way at the end of hall which I don't always like but it was not too far. The room was nice and large. Separate seating area from the bedroom. Decent bathroom. My one issue was the shower. Once I turned the water on and it got hotter, there was incredible noise and wall shaking coming from somewhere. Not sure if it was the water heater or what. I was up quite early and was afraid I was making too much noise for my neighbors. The room was great, just need to work on the plumbing. read more

This hotel has no free breakfast for gold members currently It's a Marriott Hotel but not full service There's no bellman You get your own luggage cart I feel this hotel needs a new manager to go through it and assess all the deficiencies First off the rooms are small We have a king bed 2 room suite The living area is so tiny the sofa has one arm and Only 1 end table So I'll fall off the other end and no table for my phone and a drink. The sofa has a hard back and there are no pillows The hotel advertises balcony rooms The balcony is about 2 feet deep off the bedroom and too small for any chair It's a cosmetic balcony Bathroom is tiny and shower is too small It's hard to get into it if you are big, I'm not but it's cramped The bathroom is dirty My daughter wiped pube hairs off the wall Floor Tile & tile baseboards look dirty Carpet is stained The AC is awful, in the suite you freeze in the bedroom and it's loud, but to keep it cool we freeze at 68 if we turn it up to 69 the heater comes on gangbusters! So you either shake or bake or turn it off entirely It's a suite and there's no microwave just a mini fridge. I requested extra pillows and towels but the hotel staff said they have no extra pillows in inventory We got towels Breakfast hard stale bagels Last night we went down to the lobby store for ice cream popsicles The freezer was totally empty and she said they are waiting for an ice cream delivery I've never been to any Marriott that was out of all ice cream products The pool area feels like a hail with all the excessive concrete walls and locked gates and fencing The elevators are very small The view of the tiny pond out back is nice I saw an egret last night A hawk dive down and grabbed a smaller Koi fish and flew off with it Pretty cool I had another 5 nights booked here later in the trip but I cancelled it I'm going back to the courtyard Irvine spectrum This parking garage is very low height, $27 a day Update day 3 the cook didn't show up but strangely they had admittedly kept leftover breakfast burritos from yesterday and are selling them full price for $15 An apple is $2 Thin stale bagels again The ice cream supply never came The standard comment " our shipment didn't come" Were in the OC there's no one who can go to grocery store for boxes of popsicles ? We pre-paid for 1 king bed, checked in early (online), and when we arrived at the time we scheduled, the clerk said the room was no longer available and gave us 2 queens. What is the point of pre-paying, ordering online, etc.? Self-parking is $40. No ticket validation, no alternative parking options around. You just have to suck it up and pay. read more
