The Element Hotel by Westin is a very practical hotel, especially if you are in the surrounding area by John Wayne airport. The hotel is very modern, minimalist with beautifully decorated room, large showers, lots of towels and amenities. A group breakfast buffet is served in the mornings, so if you're hungry get there when they open (7am?) eggs made to order fruits, muffins, coffee. I found the 3rd floor pool very nice for dipping in, great for getting afternoon sun! read more

Newer hotel, fairly clean, the thing is however it's very noisy and you can hear your neighbors especially the ones above you VERY easily. It would seem most of the customers who stay here are business folks, who seem generally quiet, but it's the families that are traveling (for vacation or sports) that are hella loud and will keep you up at night. The location is convenient as far as proximity goes, but the immediate surrounding area is not the greatest for views. You are surrounded by all these industrious/chemical companies (Lubrication Scientifics is across the street, I think I saw Mitsubishi Chemical Group down the road too). You really don't get that beautiful Irvine/OC view from this place. You do feel like you're in Fresno or Bakersfield, or that area in Fremont, CA near the Tesla Factory. These rooms are suites with a kitchenette, it's not as spacious as Homewood Suites by Hilton but it's decently sized. The complimentary breakfast has been one of the better ones I've experienced at a regular hotel. They make fresh eggs to order which is wonderful (I've found most regular hotels generally don't and have scrambled eggs or premade omelettes), as well as fresh pancakes too. They have juices, coffees, and a self serve espresso machine (which was broken like 70% of my visit though it's not a great machine it starts breaking after like the 5th consecutive drink made from what I saw). The location, albeit not a looker, is very convenient traveling-wise. John Wayne is just down the street, so is Diamond Jamboree and Tustin District. The staff was pretty good, generally no complaints. I couldn't get an early check in but that was not their fault and more about just the timing and how booked they were which is understandable. You can check in your bags in the meantime. Would I stay again? Only if I could be guaranteed I wouldn't have noisy neighbors. They ought to really relook at the sound dampening of the building. Excellent hotel, very nice area you can definitely tell it is high middle class/suburban area with lots of things to do and cool spots near by, only 15-20 mins away from the beaches too! The hotel is VERY clean, you can tell it is newly built. For it being a pet friendly hotel, the lobby and the rooms are excellent. I really have no complaints! we stayed here for 3 days. We had the standard room with 2 queen beds, it also had a kitchenette with an electric stove, sink, with clean dishes ! such as plates, silverware and the best part it had reverse osmosis filtered water! For breakfast from 6-9 am there is a private cook that makes your eggs to your liking and crepes/pancakes and also have self serve sausages and fruits, oatmeal, cereal and a coffee making machine for expresso, macchiatos, cappuccinos, ect. i would definitely stay here again especially for the price point and location. ps: the host that checked us in as we first arrived here had a huge "hickey" on his neck which did throw us off a bit as that's not very professional looking but overall the hotel itself is very safe, friendly and clean read more

Just finished a weekend stay here & we regretted staying here. Very thin walls & we did not get much sleep before our Disneyland day unfortunately. CONS: -very seemingly thin walls. If a neighbor shuts their door, your wall will literally vibrate. We also easily heard people talking in the hallway throughout the night. We bought ear plugs but we still could hear talking/doors shutting all night. I got maybe 2 hours of sleep. -there was a very loud AC motor noise when we entered our room (# 500). When we requested to switch rooms, the front desk attendant said she couldn't help us since they were fully booked even though this was at 3:30pm, but yet she said she "cannot make a switch in her system"? It's not like every guest has checked in at this point. It wasn't until a maintenance guy did something above on the roof that made the sound stop. Otherwise, we would've left for another hotel, as the sound was already giving me a migraine. -When we asked to speak to a manager, we're told that there's "no manager on site"-odd since the weekend is probably when a hotel is most busy & needed. -a staff member (housekeeping?) was accidentally in our room when we first arrived into our room. That means possible miscommunication between the front desk & staff. -Toilet wouldn't flush initially. We had to open the tank to reposition the valve. -No luggage rack in our room. I ended up placing my luggage on the desk chair. -parking is not free PROS: -Continental breakfast available -Modern decor -amenities such as: dish soap, microwave, mirror, gym, pool, car charging, elevators A shame, because this hotel is pretty new & updated, so it had potential. Great stay, great hotel! Landed in OC and was able to check in at 1:30pm. The room was spacious on the second floor and had a full kitchen with utensils. The room was comfortable, quiet and had everything you needed. The hotel is located behind a main st so just follow your GPS navigation as it will take you behind the hotel and then arrive at the front of the hotel. The breakfast in the morning was great, starts at 6:30am and had home fried potatoes, bagels, cream cheese, English muffins, coffee, espresso a kitchen offering made to order eggs and crepes. My fiance and I stayed at this property for 4 nights while visiting So Cal. It was important to us to find a dog friendly hotel- and the staff at Element went above and beyond. Not only did they help me with a last minute booking, but we were greeted with such friendly faces. We went into the room with a surprise- a dog bed, water and food bowls, and a goody bag filled with treats, toys, and doggy bags. Out of all the hotels we've stayed at, this property was the most accommodating. The room was clean, quiet, spacious, and more than enough for the three of us. My fiance loved working out at their gym and then having fresh made eggs with his breakfast. Plenty of parking and conveniently located! Definitely will back soon. read more

Booked a Marriott, checked into a seafood restaurant. My room (and all of my clothes) absorbed the full aroma of another guest cooking fish and broccoli. The smell was so strong the room was unlivable--problematic when you have business meetings the next day and would prefer not to smell like dinner. Staff initially claimed the room was checked, then later admitted it wasn't. No alternate rooms, no cleaning staff available, and no real solution--so I had no choice but to leave. If you're a business traveler or prefer your hotel room not double as a kitchen, I'd recommend looking elsewhere. read more

Had a horrible stay here! We were supposed to stay for 2 nights but cut it short due to the loud noise coming from upstairs. There were a ton of banging and loud thumping noises and we were told they were moving furniture. It was very unpleasant and when called to complain, no one even apologized for it. It's a modern hotel that includes breakfast. And they now have 6 parking spots with Tesla chargers. They are the regular ones, not the superchargers but we just plugged in at night and were all charged up the next morning. You can hear the people upstairs walking .. it actually sounds like they are jumping up and down .. more like multiple guests... wearing cowboy boots to an aerobic class .. the breakfast leaves a lot to be desired. We have stayed here for 30 days and spoken to many other hotel guests with similar complaints . I def do not recommend this for long term . The staff is very kind and accommodating but my advice is to bring your noise cancelling headphones , food and rely a lot on Insta Cart , Grubhub and Uber Eats .. They advertise a lounge open for dinner but their menu consists of solely flatbread pizzas .. there are other items o n the menu but they don't have them . We had a great stay. Arrived right before midnight on Saturday and check in was smooth. We were able to find a parking close to the entrance outside. Gold elite so requested 2pm checkout and that was easily accommodated. Room was clean overall...found a couple hairs on the bed. A pen mark on the sheet that caused a stained but nothing else observed. Bathroom was clean, love the body wash perfectly lathers. Wanted to try the breakfast but hadn't slept much in several days so didn't get up for that. We would definitely stay here again. read more

They've only been open for a few weeks now & it's a great little spot. The location is in the middle of a business park. I think the target clientele would be those traveling for business. But sometimes it's nice to stay at a hotel off the beaten track with free parking. It's still close to many great restaurants & a quick ride to John Wayne airport. The hotel was super clean. The gym was really nice & they regularly wiped the machines down which I liked. The beds were comfy but the walls (or doors) were thin & I could hear everything going on in the hallway including the neighbors doors opening & closing loudly. On a positive note they have great blackout curtains but in order to sleep in, I'd definitely suggest turning on your white noise app. I was excited to hear they offered free breakfast but it needs to be reevaluated. They offer made-to-order eggs & crepes but it takes forever & nothing special. I'd rather have a hard boiled egg or pre made scrambled egg which weren't offered. I waited about a half the for fried eggs, no proteins offered. They also had toast, fruits, yogurt, oatmeal and cereal. It was underwhelming especially since the hotel wasn't cheap. Did not appreciate how the hotel staff let us know upon check-in that breakfast was from 7:30-10:30 only for my husband and I to be there at 10:07 and get turned away as they were cleaning everything up. I asked if breakfast was already done and they said yes and continued cleaning. Don't stay here - there are plenty of decent options nearby. Homewood Suites is down the street, less than 1 mile away from this location and has phenomenal breakfast and GREAT customer service. I regret our stay here and still haven't seem a refunded amount post on my account. Don't be deceived by the nice photos, the room cleaning is mediocre, they charge $28 for 1 night of parking, their breakfast is a joke, and management is not friendly. My wife and I stayed here 2 nights. Before booking we confirmed that the room we were paying for had a bathtub. Checked in and got to our room and it had a walk in shower - so they moved us to a different room, which you can see on the photos attached was completely dirty. I took photos and showed them to front desk - so they moved us to a 3rd room and the bathroom has a strong sewer smell. Stayed for a weekend and it is a nice hotel w a good breakfast. "Checkout" has a different definition to Marriott hotels. To me and the English language it means you take your belongings and leave the room.. I extended my stay another night on Monday and the "system" automatically checked me out even tho I never left the room...so I had to go to front desk and "check in" and leave an additional $100 deposit for a 1night stay. Total bs. Meanwhile my initial deposit is still not refunded. Pool is tiny and only 3' deep. No hot tub. Pretty wack for the price. read more

The one big drawback is the location is not the best; it's located in near an industrial park and is a couple of miles away from good shopping or restaurants. That said, it has all the comforts out of a modern, extended-stay hotel: a functional kitchen, laundry, fitness center, and a good free breakfast which is always appreciated. They also have free coffee, infused water, and decent workspaces and a lounge in the lobby that I also like. The staff are always friendly. We arrived late for check in and it was 12:45 am. No one was at the front desk. We kept saying excuse me? Hello? Anyone there?? By this point, it was 1:10am. This elderly man working the front desk, came outside the restroom with another man. Apparently, he said the ice machine was not working? Later on, the man that was with the front desk came to get a water and the man said its on the house. At this point, I said next time if you are leaving the front desk.. AT LEAST LEAVE A SIGN OUT THAT YOU WILL BE RIGHT BACK. Were completely tired from our drive and just want rest. The front desk guy, I believe his name was Daniel apologized and mentioned that parking will be removed and he wont charge us. Following check out, I asked the lady at the front desk and she mentioned that they charged us for the 2 day parking... the lady said she will remove it but its always better to double check. When we ate breakfast, it was CHAOTIC. They should just set up eggs, hashbrowns, sausage and have a self serve with gloves. They had a chef making either egg taco or egg scramble. Everything looked so confusing. If the hotel changed their customer service, it would be great overall. Discovered this gem of a hotel in Irvine. Located within a business park. Quite hidden from foot traffic. Has outdoor open parking in the parking lot and a covered garage parking too. Stayed a week and was super comfortable! Facility is only 2 months old. Super new and clean! Excellent staff! Super nice and accommodating! Rooms are very comfortable! My wife and I were looking for a hotel for our wedding guests to stay for our wedding in Irvine. After sending out about a dozen inquiries, the Element Irvine stood out above the others. Location: 5/5 - Centrally located to all OC has to offer with convenient freeway access. 5 minutes from John Wayne (SNA) Airport and Irvine's business district. 10 minutes or less to shopping at South Coast Plaza and some of OC's best restaurants. 20 minutes from Disney without the crazy rates. A great base of operations! Amenities: 4/5 - The complimentary hot breakfast was a big hit with our wedding guests. A small gym, lobby bar, laundry room and covered (paid) parking are also onsite. Rooms: 5/5 - Modern, clean functional design with a chill vibe. The room offers extended stay benefits such as full size fridge, dishes, sink and a microwave. A new large TV, large restroom and the comfortable bed were also appreciated. Service: 5/5 - The catering manager, Stephanie, went above and beyond to accommodate our wedding party. In addition to providing the best deal out of all the hotels we reached out to, her communication throughout the whole lead up to our wedding was exemplary. She provided us with weekly updates on our room block and also let us extend our rate when our group exceeded the initial number. She also helped us book the parlor room, which was instrumental in making our wedding day special as it served as the bridal suite and after wedding festivities. Despite having a large group, our guests said that check in/out and service was friendly as well. Bottom line: The Element Irvine really checks all that you would want in a hotel, offering a competitive rate, a clean, modern and functional room, central location and friendly service. Unfortunately had an extremely negative experience yesterday with an employee named Wael. After a lengthy check in process Wael double charged me and when I said "that's not right" he yelled at me saying "that's the best I can do don't take it personal". Wael said he was security filling in and didn't know many things about the check in process. He then called corporate and lied about my actions to get my discount revoked. During my stay there, 3 separate people were charged wrongly on their credit cards. Unacceptable. Do yourself a favor and find a different property to stay at. read more

Upon a very early arrival we checked to see if our room might be available prior to normal check in time and it wasn't quite ready but we were told it would be about an hour and could check back. While passing some time until then we received a phone call that our room was ready and could come back to check in. We were so grateful they thought to do this. If you like attitude, unfriendly, and unwelcoming staff, this is your place. The only reason I give this more than one star is the clean rooms, mostly with a decent Irvine location. Staff can be rude and downright just ignore you when checking in. I used to stay at the Element weekly, and finally had enough when the front desk staff just ignored me two nights in a row. If you like attitude from the workers, this is your place. I like helpful respectful hotel staff while traveling for work. The first night I was waiting to check-in, and the bartender looked over at me and immediately went back to his phone, just rudely ignored me. Then, when a young lady came to the front desk, he came right over and checked her in. The second night, the same guy was in the bar area and I asked him to check me in, and he said he was busy in the bar. There was no one in the bar at the time. This type of attitude has no place at a Marriott branded hotel. Rooms can be hit or miss. Mostly they are clean, but occasionally I've had rooms that had stains on the chairs and had funky smells in the room. The breakfast always seems overcooked. The staff in the food area had an attitude that was just unwelcoming. I usually get a muffin because the warm food just doing look good. They do have a great automatic espresso machine, but that usually has old milk. read more

This is the worst experience I have ever had in my life. My son is legally blind, it's hard for him to get things together, he forgot his laptop in the room, I didn't check if he took it, we realised it only when we got home. Front desk workers couldn't help us, they are not talking nice, they can't find those people who was cleaning our room, no one care! If you forget anything in the room, means housekeeping can have it , after multiple calls they still can't find it, saying that the room was clean and nothing was there. read more

Nothing really wrong with my stay but just a weird place. Marriott Bonvoy- They have signs all around the front desk but I was told "we don't participate" when I asked about a room upgrade. I didn't realize that was even a choice, guess I'll have to ask before booking. Breakfast- it's just grim. A tiny hot plate with some odd eggs (scrambled, poached in the little pan maybe?) and some sausage. There was a promising looking guy at a flat grill but a big sign next to him stated "no omelettes" and one item available, crepes. Like 6 inch and not savory. There was some fruit and yogurt. The funniest one is that they spent cash on SMEG toasters. Worst hotel breakfast I've had and that is from a lot of them. Room- room was good, bed comfortable, baby full size fridge, microwave. Mixed carpet and linoleum flooring. Pillows were good, blackout blinds on window. Nothing to look at out the window. Kind of a weird layout to the room and pretty stark but solid. Bathroom good, walk in shower, weird self closing door on the bathroom. Parking- $25 a day, no EV chargers, seemed to be plenty of spaces. Weird door up some metal stairs to get in from the second floor. Once again, nothing wrong but nothing that made me want to stay here again. Location- it's like a maze finding this place. It's located in a good spot for many of Irvine's office complexes, near the airport but I never heard any planes while inside (plus SNA has limited hours). I did smell jet fuel while outside one evening. Fire up google maps to get here though. A solid 3 if around $200 night. It's fresh and clean and also plain as of 2023. Did I mention the lobby decor of bicycle chain rings screwed on the wall (one bike brake disc tossed in too). Who thought that was a good idea? Beautiful modern simple. That's how I'd describe this cute, very conveniently located hotel in Irvine. This area has really changed over the years, used to be an industrial area. Now lots of housing and nice and modern and really happening. My family was having some work done on our house and we had to leave the house for a few days. We wanted to stay close enough to get to the house if needed. We were recommended this hotel by a family member and we loved it. The mini suites are great for a family and everything get clean and new. Staff very friendly, breakfast was better than most hotels. I would definitely come back here again. read more

1. Arrived at hotel, no one at the Service Desk. Came Matthew who were not even greet us as their guest. 2. On 07/08 I had to check out early, I understood that I would not get a refund for the room because I booked it from Sam's Club. I spoke to Eric to refund the $25 parking fee that Element charged me. They charged me $100 in advance. Eric said they will process the refund. 3. On 07/09Called Element and a staff told me to Leave voice mail for Anita the GM. Left message on her VM. 4. After 24 hours there was response from Element. Called the Hotel and spoke to Matthew (see point 1). He said Anita was not at the property. I explained to him the purpose of my call, he stated I checked out on the 07/09 and not 07/08 and there was not notes left about it. I asked was there someone that could solve this issue. After placing me on hold again, he finally said he would process the refund. I am very disappointed with the service of this hotel, my previous stay was March; in three months their service is going down the hill. Definitely will NOT spend my money or recommend family to stay at this hotel, where their staffs do not even care about their guests. read more

really enjoyed staying here in Irvin~ the Element is pretty new and was VERY CLEAN!!! our room which was upgraded, was FAB! a 1 bedroom king with its own private bedroom area allowed me to watch TV long after the hubs had gone to bed. also it was quite quiet didn't hear any doors slamming, people talking etc. the kitchenette is a wonderful addition although we didn't use it~ nice touch if we were staying longer along with the dishwasher & water purifier!!!! breakfast is served downstairs every morning too! the cappuccino machine helped get our mornings started ~ one odd observation the man making eggs said he only knew how to make eggs over ez...., that is possibly the lamest excuse i have ever heard? like who doesn't know how to scramble eggs lots of options anyway fresh fruit, cold cereal selections, lots of bread for toast, bagels & english muffins a plenty. check in was a breeze and they have a small area incase you've forgotten something or might want a ice cream this hotel is in a business like park area near the airport, so walking for lunch or dinner would be a challenge, parking is self park and $10 a day read more

Had over a week at this property and it seemed to just fly by! I was pleasantly surprised by just how convenient a location this was - not just for the airport, but it was so close to restaurants, shopping, sightseeing you name it. Add that to a staff full of kind and helpful people, clean setting, and very comfortable accommodations and you've got happy guests! I was so grateful for the quality washers & dryers as well. We'll be out of town for a few days, and then back again for a bit before we check out. All of the staff, especially Stephanie, Liliana, and José, were very helpful and really made this hotel feel like a home away from home. My partner stayed here for her school orientation at UCI. She has a decent experience overall w some recommendations for improvement. The check in/out process was relatively smooth. There was an issue w there being a pet fee that was added when I called ahead to inquire but the agent instead added that into the cost instead of as a note (I ended up hanging back and therefore not bringing our pet wc would have been $50 per night). I called front desk prior to her check out to request the fee dismissed and it was after some explanation wc was appreciated. My partner had an unfavorable interaction w the breakfast server wc was a mid 20s guy that was sarcastic and unhelpful (possibly prejudiced) when she asked for clarification about how many items she could order. He apparently treated another patron of another race more politely. 1 star off for that bias. Overall she said she had a comfortable experience as the room suite and gym were clean and new, and the pool was relaxing as there was not too many people. read more

Clearly Element is a trendy hotel where you are assured of being offered avocado toast each morning for breakfast. That said the hotel has plumbing problems. My room had the option of filtered water, but even with the filter the water had a taste of plastic. Additionally the dishwasher didn't operate because the water inlet was only a trickle. Otherwise the hotel is clean and relatively noise free. The hot breakfast was special (and I'm not talking about the avocado toast). Notable is the hotel charges $10 per night for parking. read more
