    Stains on carpet

We had a one night stay here and while the hotel itself was nice we had a few issues with our room. The carpets were in some serious need of cleaning and the sofa bed had a broken spring and the footing of the bed was higher than the heading. My husband slept it on it in reverse. When the sofa bed was pulled out you couldn't walk around it. My daughter and I slept in the bed and while I was a bit surprised by the lumpy poorly made bed it was comfy. The bathroom was clean with nice lighting and amenities. I loved that the room came with a balcony overlooking the pool and courtyard area. Parking was in a gated structure. Room key need for entry & exit. I think we paid for parking but gosh I can't remember now. Our stay was a super short one and we didn't get to enjoy the restaurant or bar area. It's close to South Coast Plaza with shopping and restaurants. I would consider a stay here again if there was a need.

Everything was good. We loved the fact that we could walk every morning safely, then a,Starbucks store is right across the street. The only 2 things, which can be easily fixed, were that (a) trash was overflown in the front almost daily over night; and (b) trash on 8th floor was not picked up right outside the elevator. The Executive Housekeeper or GM should have walked the floors more often. For that, I took one star off. The man who checked us in but I forgot his name was very professional.

This is the last and 3rd Marriott property I've stayed at in this area near the Segerstrom! I've stayed at the Avenue of the Arts, the Westin, and now Marriott. If you want to know in terms of distance, closet (literally next door) to the Segerstrom is the Westin. Then Ave of Arts is across the street (across from Moma). Then Marriott is the farthest of the 3, on the other side of the pond. I booked under AAA rate via the Marriott app, got the self parking and check in via app was a breeze. The lady at the front was super nice when we checked in and they gave me an upgraded suite as a Platinum member, which came with the pond view, very nice! The room was spacious and the design of their bathroom and living room and bedroom was interesting but fun! It feels like there are 3 ways to get into the bathroom! Our view was perfect and during the day, if you open the balcony door from the bedroom and listen to the water fountain running outside at the pond, laying in bed and feeling the breeze with your eyes closed, you would think that you were at a beach front resort listening to the ocean waves hitting the shore! The room was super clean and bed was very comfortable! I didnt care too much for their toiletries. I think Westin still has the best scent toiletries. Parking is $39 and they did not give the AAA discount toward the parking like at the Westin. When we stayed at the Westin under AAA discount rate, they also gave us the AAA discount parking fee which brought it down from $39 to $10 or $15 I think. One other nice feature about this Marriott, like other Yelpers mentioned, is they have their M club lounge here. So this was very nice because our room keys were programmed for the M Club also and we had breakfast there. Although it was a very continental breakfast and very simple, but it was still nice. The Westin, even with Platinum did not offer free breakfast. Overall, If I have to rate the 3 hotels around here as a Platinum with Marriott, it would be Marriot, Westin, and if really have to then Ave of Arts. Marriott would give you overall the best perks as Platinum but it was a great stay and I would definitely stay again!

We've stayed at the Costa Mesa Marriott a few times over the years. The location of the hotel is walking distance to the gigantic South Coast Plaza Mall. Staff have been cordial each of our visits. Parking garage is convenient, but not inexpensive. Rooms have been terrific each visit. We've always had a good night's sleep at this hotel. They have the lounge called the M Club for elite members. Compared to other Marriott hotels we've visited, the M Club here is lacking. There has been a lack of snacks and water compared to other Marriott locations. They don't as good a job of keeping it stocked. No big deal, though. Exception is for the breakfast hours. During the breakfast hours, the staff do a good job of keeping the breakfast food hot, fresh, and fully stocked at the M Club. After all our visits here, I'd have to say that the Costa Mesa Marriott is a fine choice to stay if you are traveling in the area.

I love to stay at Marriott properties when I travel for work. I particularly liked this one - as it was located in an interesting and walkable area. It's near the Orange County Museum of Art and the Segerstrom Center campus. It was also a convenient walk to some great restaurants, bars and coffee shops (like Philz!). The room was a decent size, with a bedroom (queen bed) and living room set-up. It's nice to have a separate seating/desking area when traveling for work! I really enjoyed the balcony and sliding door that opened to it. It's rare to have operable windows in hotels anymore! I do wish there had been more common area seating in the lobby. As a regular business traveler, I enjoy having an area other than my room to hang out in. They had the bar and the dining area - and I saw people sitting there who weren't eating - but I would have felt uncomfortable sitting myself there, as it felt like it was an obvious dining area and not an intentionally designed common space. My breakfast service left me a bit disappointed. I did sit down about 30 minutes from breakfast service ending, but I didn't anticipate being ghosted as a way to get me to move along. My food was served, my room-service only ticket set at my table and then I never saw the server again. When I travel for work, I'm not authorized to put meal service on my invoice, so this became an inconvenience for me when I expensed my trip. I did have an unfortunate incident occur with another guest, however the manager Hugo was really responsive and empathetic in his response to the situation. It's uncomfortable for me to give negative feedback, especially when I see such a well kept facility with friendly employees. He shared that he felt that my incident was a perfect training opportunity and he apologized on behalf of the hotel for the situation. I felt heard and would not hesitate staying there on my next business trip.

    Bed side lamp

I'm usually a big fan of Marriott and have stayed at many of their locations without issues but my recent stay at the Costa Mesa Marriott was not the best. Everything was fine until the last day. While I was on the phone with guest services, the side lamp randomly fell on me, knocking over my water, which spilled all over me and the bed. It was a pretty unpleasant surprise and not the kind of chaos you expect when you're just trying to get everything ready. On top of that, there was a lot of back-and-forth about the pet fee. One staff member told me it was $150 total for both of my pets, which is what I've paid at every other Marriott. But someone else later insisted it was $150 per pet and said that's what's on the website, which wasn't very clear when I booked. The inconsistency was frustrating and honestly made me feel like no one really knew the policy. Marriott is still my go-to, but I wont choose this location again.

We don't typically stay at Marriott properties but we decided to stay here due to the price-point for a one-night stay during the time we need. It is close to the shopping mall and all the asian restaurants we love frequenting. Since I booked through Expedia, I had issues linking my stay to the Marriott Bonvoy app. Parking was $39 a night, but at least the parking garage is secure. I did not see an elevator for the parking garage though, so keep that in mind. My husband and I did find the front desk staff who checked us in as unfriendly, tired, and bothered that we were checking in, so that is why I removed one star. I get that we were checking in at 10pm and he probably had a long shift, but we've also checked in late at other hotels (Hilton properties) and never felt this vibe from the staff at those hotels. Nonetheless, we liked the hotel very much. We booked a king suite and found the room clean and spacious. The shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were all-natural and smelled like essential oils. The bed was comfortable and we liked that the common room is separate from the bedroom. The decor is modern and clean, and they have great amenities. They also offer free yoga for hotel guests. Additionally, there is also a nice grassy walking trail right outside the hotel, and the gym had the bare necessities. We didn't get to use the pool, but we had a view of the pool from our room and it looks like it would be fun for families.

Check-in was disorganized. The front-desk employee charged our credit card for the wrong room and told us not to worry because the charge would be removed within three to five business days. That was not an acceptable resolution. Our room had several problems: it smelled unpleasant, the air conditioner made a loud screeching noise throughout the night, and the refrigerator did not work. We were provided only one set of bath linens. When I called to request another set, we received two bath towels that appeared to have melted plastic on them. Equally disappointing was the service. When we contacted the office about these concerns, we were not treated courteously, and no one apologized for the errors. At checkout, no one asked about our stay or offered an opportunity to address the problems. I later contacted Wyndham and was told that, because this location is a franchise, there was nothing they could do. I am extremely disappointed by both the hotel's response and Wyndham's lack of support. This experience has caused me to reconsider staying at Wyndham properties in the future.

I've stayed at The Ayres in Costa Mesa regularly since I first started traveling to Orange County…read moreabout 6 months ago and at this point, it has become so much more than a hotel to me. I specifically chose The Ayres because it is family-owned and not part of a huge corporate hotel chain. I don't have a family, I am single, an only child and both parents have passed, so there was something comforting about choosing a place that felt more personal and welcoming. Loyalty is so important to me and I appreciate never feeling like just another guest. I've now stayed here enough that I've gotten to know the staff, and they are another main reason I return. Rachel, Moses, Christopher, Riley, Hennessy, Omar, John, David, Chris, and Valerie are some of the people at the front who have been especially helpful and friendly to me at different times. They will chat with me on a more personal level which makes me feel important and a little less alone. Everyone has their own personality and way of making you feel welcome, but what they have in common is that they've ALL gone out of their way to help me when I've needed it. I typically extend my stays, and they always do their best to make sure I'm not inconvenienced by having to change rooms. I even spent my birthday here, which says a lot about how much this place has come to mean to me. The rooms are always clean, spacious, comfortable, and affordable. I stay in the Suites building and absolutely love how quiet and secluded it feels. The two-person jacuzzi tubs are a wonderful bonus, and I personally love the Suites pool because it feels more relaxed and adult-friendly than the main pool. They are also heated which is a plus! Peace of mind when staying at a hotel is of key importance, especially when traveling alone. The have a wonderful security team who I constantly see walking the grounds and around the buildings all hours of the day and night. I have never felt unsafe here or worried about my car. Parking is clutch! There is ample parking that is easy, convenient and free until 10pm. They do charge for overnight parking but it's still more affordable than most places and if you have guests over during the day, they don't have to worry about being towed. I believe Ayres corporate office is in the strip mall behind the Suites building so that yields another option. When I travel and am busy, there are days I forget to eat. I have come to discover I need a restaurant on site and this place has one of the best! Probably the second or third biggest perk for me about this hotel. I have never had a bad meal. The portions are generous, the food is consistently good, and I love the family recipes. They have wonderful indoor/outdoor dining with a beautiful and peaceful courtyard around a soothing fountain covered in flowers. The restaurant staff have always been welcoming, and I love that they're open until 11 PM. Their prices are super affordable and room service is only a $5 fee and comes VERY quickly. They have amazing breakfast, brunch and an all-day menu with a variety of options. Everyone will find something here they love. The $5 happy hour and bar menu goes from 3:30-6:30 is another favorite of mine. Where can you find $5 drinks in SoCal? Pro-tip, if you dine here on a Friday, order the Chef's homemade Clam Chowder. It's the best clam chowder I have ever had (and I am from the east coast)! Another positive thing I have noticed is that the hotel seems to keep the same employees around, at least in the 6 months I have been staying here. This warms my heart because it says something about the environment. People generally don't stay at a workplace for long periods of time if they absolutely hate being there. Seeing familiar staff members over and over makes the hotel feel even more like a community. Of course, after staying as frequently as I do, I've also discovered that there are some things that could be improved. I had one particularly frustrating experience with a day-shift supervisor who argued with me for well over 5 minutes over a policy that made zero sense and I later discovered was not actually true (nor did I think it was from the start). For their corporate office to be 20 feet away there is a big disconnect here. That experience prompted me to go through the hotel's website and policies more carefully, and I found a few other things that I think could use clarification or attention. (Why I gave 4 stars not 5). I also think this hotel could use a little more loyalty to their returning guests. I'm not mentioning this to take away from my overall experience, but because I care enough about this hotel to be honest about it and with it. When a place becomes like your second home, you want to see it succeed and improve. I believe The Ayres has something special, and I would love to see the small issues addressed so that the guest experience can be as good as the people working there deserve it to be!!

However, if you're a light sleeper like me, there is a specific way to play your stay here to get the best of both worlds: luxury and silence. The Room Strategy (3rd Floor Corner): We requested the quietest spot possible and were placed in a corner room on the 3rd floor, right across from the executive boardroom, which is a small meeting space. While the view was not anything to write home about because it was partially obscured by the "tent" structure near the pool, the tradeoff was perfect. Being at the far end of the hallway meant almost zero foot traffic. You can occasionally hear a faint toilet flush from a neighbor, but otherwise, it was impressively still. The room itself was surprisingly spacious for two queen beds. It honestly felt like a wheelchair-accessible layout in terms of floor real estate, even though the bathroom was standard. It was cozy, impeccably clean, and lived up to the Westin reputation for comfort. The Amenities and Vibe: The Pool: It is rare to find a hotel pool that goes down to 9 feet deep! It was kept at a perfect, cool lukewarm temperature. As a pro tip, grab a seat by the top part of the waterfall as it creates a great atmosphere. Service: I have to echo what others have said about the staff. The concierge was incredibly friendly and went out of their way to be accommodating, which is impressive considering how busy they were for the holiday. Location: You really are just a block away from South Coast Plaza. It is a very short and pleasant walk to some of the best shopping and dining in Orange County. Verdict: If you want the convenience of being near the mall but are worried about the noise of a busy hotel, ask for a corner room near the meeting spaces. It is the ultimate quiet sanctuary hack. I will definitely be staying here again!

My advice: Just pick up the phone. Well on April 7th, 2026 Spring Break hit me up and told me that Spring Break was definitely on and Huntington Beach was the place to be. Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa enters the chat. ------------------------------------- Being that it was Spring break for the kids, we wanted to give them some much needed rest from school and what better way than a little fun in the sun poolside. So we put our earned Hyatt points to work and took a 3 day escape to H.B. The Parking Sitch: Of course we did our research on the hotel prior to our trip and saw that valet parking was $60 per night!! So my wife did some further research and saw that the Hyatt contracts with the H.B. Beach parking lot which is offsite and is located directly across from the resort for a lesser overnight fee (please note that it is a bit of a walk, so I highly recommended dropping the luggage and your family at the front entrance prior to making your way to the beach parking lot). There is a bridge that connects from the beach parking lot right to the hotel property. The lay of the land: This is a resort style hotel so the place is huge and it literally takes up a whole city block. Of course, there are resort style pools, hot tubs, restaurants, a spa and other resort amenities to make your getaway enjoyable. Things to do: When you are not soaking up the sun poolside or taking a dip into the pool, there are many walkable places down PCH with local eateries, shops and of course the beach! The stay: The rooms were decent, nothing special, but also nothing bad to report. The property itself is very large, we spent most of our time at the pool or chillen in our room. Overall, it was a nice getaway and we always enjoy our stay with Hyatt. So.... What's the plan for Spring Break 2027!?

Although you pay $45 a day for it but that's kind of standard right? People at the front desk were great and friendly, helpful, and eager to get you into your room as quick as possible. We had brought our pet with us and they were very accommodating with that, It was only an extra 50 bucks to bring our furry friend. This particular token had a Starbucks in it which made it convenient as we were in town for a show and had to get up early to go to the event. Overall comedy experience was very pleasant and the price was actually really good.. I used the hotels.com app and was able to find a screaming deal. So definitely check that out if you're going to go. Bottom line? If I'm ever in Orange county and need to get a a room I think I would definitely stay here again. The $45 a day parking is a little steep but hey I can get it real estate in Orange county. Is that a premium.

I give Victorias service a 1 star (and below). Today is the second official written complaint to…read moremanagement I had to give and the result from her was retaliation, worse service, lying, and refusing to get the manager stating she's the manager so I'm documenting it this time so that internal and external can see. I urge them to review the audio and video from both occurances. I am a Hilton Diamond Member and have stayed at this property multiple times. I had yet another very concerning experience with Victoria at check-in today. This is the second time I have encountered significant customer service issues with Victoria. During check-in, I was attempting to access a billed-to-company reservation through Conferma. Rather than assisting in locating the authorization, Victoria repeatedly told me to determine where the authorization had been sent. That's not my job but I explained that my travel company indicated it had been sent to either the General Manager and/or Director of Sales email address. Instead of helping resolve the issue, I was instructed to pay the full room, tax, plus $75 incidentals or contact my corporate office, corporate travel department, and the travel management company while waiting in the lobby. When I asked for her name, she stated that her name was Victoria but advised that anyone following up should speak with Jacob because she was leaving for the day. While I was contacting my company and travel agency, Victoria called my name. I asked whether the authorization email had just arrived because the timing seemed unusually fast. She declined to answer my question and would not acknowledge me until I approached the desk again later. At that point, she advised that the authorization had actually been received the entire time and was sitting in the Front Office email inbox. When I expressed frustration that I had been sent on a lengthy process despite the authorization already being available, I felt that my concerns were dismissed rather than addressed. I also advised her that ignoring a guest's questions and refusing to communicate is not appropriate customer service. She responded that she was not obligated to have a conversation with me from a distance. I further explained that I have experienced similar difficulties with her during a prior stay. She stated that she had only been at the property for two weeks and dismissed me again. I didn't ask her tenure. I'm telling her I already had a problem with her. Period. (And that was another lie from Victoria because my 1st written complaint about her was over two weeks ago). Regardless of her tenure, this is the second interaction I have had with her that I found unnecessarily difficult, dismissive, and unprofessional. I respectfully request that management review the audio and video from the front desk during my check-in today, as I believe it will accurately reflect the interaction and my concerns about Victoria AGAIN.
