Whoever answered was not friendly, made me repeat everything (even though I spelled everything out), they don't accept medical insurance (only dental), and couldn't accommodate morning appointments. Dr. Chandra did a molar extraction. One root was broken. The procedure was straightforward -- the body of the tooth came out easily, and digging the root fragment out was a matter of a few seconds. Because I plan to have an implant installed, Dr. Chandra explained the possibility I may need a bone graft to strengthen the socket. That's an extra $708. I told her to use her discretion, but apply the stuff only if there was a clear need. She decided against using it, which was wonderful for two reasons: I saved money, and it showed me I wasn't dealing with a crook, as so many dentists are. She has an air of relaxed confidence, unhurried, with a touch of humor. She was happy to answer questions. After the lidocaine wore off, I took a couple Naprosyn for minor discomfort and was fine. Im on day 5 and still no pain, swelling was super minimal and slight yellow bruising but nothing like i imagined or have heard of. Im healing great and have not had any issues. Overall such a great experience here. Ive neglected my dental hygiene for some time. I nervously gave this place a call, was booked for a consult within that week, and then surgery the week after! Let me first start off with, I dislike dentists and express my opinion to that point pretty freely. The staff was great but the Dentists, Dr. Chandra and Dr. Pham were both exceptional. I was referred to Dr. Chandra to have my wisdom teeth removed and had my initial appointment with Dr. Chandra. Dr. Chandra was very pleasant, easy to converse with and felt completely at ease. My appointment was scheduled a week later. When I arrived home the gums around my wisdom teeth were on fire. My wife called in to reschedule and interacted with Chris, the office manager. Chris was awesome, always had a smile, made the change and scheduled my appointment for the next day with Dr. Pham. Dr. Pham did a small evaluation and wanted to make sure his diagnosis was the same as Dr. Chandra. I did not want to be put under anesthesia and I guess that is not normal when removing 4 wisdom teeth. Dr. Pham, the true professional offered me laughing gas to make me more comfortable even when I refused that. Once my mouth was fully numb, Dr. Pham had all 4 wisdom teeth removed within 45 minutes and I was awake through the whole process and comfortable the whole time. The office was beautiful, the staff was off the charts, A+ for Chris and Dr. Chandra. I have to really give rave reviews for Dr. Pham, the consummate professional. He did the job remarkably with a tough patient that didn't want to be there. I called several providers through my insurance to inquire about setting up an appointment and to determine if they were in network and took my insurance. After several frustrating calls, I talked to Chris at Costa Mesa Oral Surgery. Chris was extremely helpful, cheerful and very knowledgeable about benefits. Chris should be video taped and do training on customer service for doctors and dentists. Dr. Pham was such a nice and gentle doctor.
