When the numbness would wear…read moreoff SECONDS after the shot, one dentist gave me shots all over my mouth, including the roof of my mouth and my tongue. Nothing worked. We even tried the next day with clear instructions not to drink coffee or tea. Still, nothing worked. I was told that the last time that happened, the patient had been a drug addict. Suffice to say, I don't do drugs, except for Ventolin and Symbicort for my asthma, and I'll drink wine at the most just a handful of times a year (pre-Covid). The second dentist, who was a tiny Asian woman and who has since passed away, actually used the armrest to add more pressure to get the needle in deep. I felt my nerve (wriggle). Not surprisingly, It took me three years to see my dentist again after those experiences. Not too long ago, I was told my my dentist that I needed work done on two teeth that was treated about three years ago. The onlay on my #18 had come off and there was now a slight crack in the tooth. My number #9 tooth had a secondary cavity. What?! It cost me close to $2000 out of pocket for the treatment and an anesthesiologist. My dentist, knowing how difficult it is for me to get numbed, recommended Dr. Mokbel. When Dr. Mokbel and Danielle tried to reassure me that I would get numbed, I was quite skeptical. I just wanted to pay the extra cost for an anesthesiologist. Let me sleep and wake up with everything done. But okay, why not give it a try. I mean the guy teaches classes at USC and have taken students to poor countries to help the less fortunate. Danielle had it okayed to prescribe Xanax, which I took before arriving to the office. One pill didn't work, so I took another one. She also suggested playing music, which I did. My first visit to fix my #9 went great. I was told I snored a couple of times (I usually snore when getting a massage) and my tooth looks so much better. I can now smile in the morning without getting grossed out at my reflection. I just left the office. This was my second visit for my #18. It was harder to numb me this time. But Dr. Mokbel kept at it. I had complete faith in him and had hoped he wouldn't give up. Man, I was telling my mind to just relax, but something in me resists the idea of being poked and prodded and I hate the idea of of being medicated. After what felt like 45 minutes, I was told that I was done. What?! The procedure was much quicker than my first visit. You can't believe how stressed I've been. I'm not a pansy. I've been punched in my face and kicked in my stomach numerous times by my ex, so the dentist shouldn't be nothing, but it is to me. Dentists and doctors are scary people who invade very private places. Like I said, I absolutely HATE going to the dentist and doctor. But if I ever had to do something like this again, and I hope I die before I do, Dr. Mokbel and his amazing staff would be my first choice.

He told me that I needed to fix a slide (where your teeth touch, then slide together). In his own words, this "was easily taken care of" with equilibration. I had no crowns on my teeth. I went into hyperocclusion, as my teeth did not have enough vertical or horizontal space between them. Since then I have had orthodontics 3 times and equilibration from several specialists to increase the space between my upper and lower teeth. I had to have my teeth intruded into the gums and my front teeth moved outward to create room. After 15 years I am still trying to resolve this HORRIBLE procedure. Please do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.

I had made an appointment to get a preventive filling done. At the time I made the appointment, I asked if the procedure was covered by my insurance because I wanted to get an estimate if it wasn't. I was told the procedure was covered-- I didn't think to get the name of the staff who told me this at the time. On 2-28-28, after my procedure was done , the above mentioned receptionist told me my Insurance only covers 50% percent and I'm responsible for the rest. In my surprise, I asked her why then was I told originally that the procedure was covered. At this point her tone was defensive and rude and the following are the excuses she gave me( paraphrasing): 1) I'm not the one who told you it's covered , I just came back to work. Shouldn't all staff be accurate and consistent when conveying fees to a patient? 2) Then she implied that I should have known that my insurance only covers 50% ? Part of the service of a dental office is to give a patient an estimation of any out of pocket fees not covered by the insurance beforehand. I never got any estimate because originally I was informed the procedure was covered. Basically, I was given inaccurate information and instead of taking responsibility, this particular receptionist tried to place the fault on me. I think Dr Tran is a good Dentist but this particular receptionist poorly represent him , his practice , and is losing patients for him . My advice is to get all treatment quotes on paper even if the front staff tell you ' it's Covered', get that noted on paper too!

Dr. Sun Tao truly stands out as an excellent and trustworthy dentist. Previously, I had a very unpleasant experience at another dental clinic, where I was given what I later realized was an overly aggressive and unnecessary treatment plan. They even recommended that I get two dental crowns. When I came to Dr. Sun, he carefully reviewed my case and clearly explained that those crowns were not necessary at all, and that a simple filling would be sufficient. Dr. Sun personally performed the filling, and the entire process went smoothly. His technique is excellent, his hands are steady, and it's obvious that he is very experienced and highly skilled. The result was outstanding, and the overall experience was far better than at the previous clinic. What I appreciate most is that Dr. Sun never pushes unnecessary treatments or procedures just to make money. He genuinely puts the patient's best interest first, which is rare and incredibly reassuring. I feel very lucky to have found Dr. Sun. I've had dental work done for…read morealmost all of my 50 years and unfortunately experienced my first cavity at five years old and an incredibly traumatic extraction shortly thereafter. I've been through braces and fillings and root canals, etc. I literally have fallen asleep in the adult chair because I have absolutely no fear as I've already experienced the worst they could possibly happen in a dentist's office. I have never in all of my life, experienced a dental practice and a dentist that is as invested and meticulous about my teeth as I am about my health in general. I have had major health issues - very nearly died of lupus - that made me even more acutely aware that, as this amazing dentist said, the mouth is the gateway to health or illness. I have done my homework in saving my own life and literally have doing the "impossible" as a patient at Stanford in putting my autoimmune disease in remission for over three years now.
