I had my first appointment yesterday and was more than pleased. Everyone was so kind and friendly. Dr Mahallati has this great smile and is very gentle and honest. My previous dentist wanted to charge me $3247 for 2 crowns and a cavity as my copay with Delta Dental Medicare Advantage Plus. I investigated what my copay should have been which was $937. With that I decided to change dentists. However, when Dr Mahallati examined me he said I didn't need 2 crowns and didn't have a cavity. Obviously, my previous dentist was a scammer. I feel so fortunate to have found Dr Mahallati & Lisa his assistant. I highly recommend them. read more

As someone that recently got off their mom's insurance and has never had to look yet alone book my own dental appointments, I found myself a little nervous! After looking what was in my area and finding wonderful reviews about this place, I decided to give it a chance. AND AM SO HAPPY I DID! I am currently writing this review after my first appointment, and could not have had a better experience! From the first phone call, I had a good feeling about this place. Gina, who works at the front desk, was very friendly over the phone. She helped me book my first appointment and was very clear about what to bring as a new patient (paperwork, proof of insurance, etc). She was very thorough about everything and even mentioned the $15 copay (which I found out through fellow Yelp reviews is in effect because of COVID protocols). I booked an appointment at 9AM opening. When I arrived, there were a handful of other people in the waiting room. I was at first disheartened because I assumed I would be waiting a long time.. but I was wrong! They called in each person in a matter of minutes. Upon getting in, I was so impressed by the cleanliness and size of the space! Everything looked so clean, modern, and up-to-date! There were (I think) 5 rooms in the back. What I loved was that each patient I had seen previously in the waiting room was already being helped. It was evident to me that this facility is adequately staffed which was wonderful to see. I was also pleasantly surprised by all the technology (which was quite a change from my old dentist) and a big bonus...the walls were decorated with vintage Disney plates! The Disney freak in me screamed internally and to top it all off, I was coincidentally wearing a Mickey sweater. I was told that the doctor had been collecting these plates for years and I just knew in that moment..I made the right choice haha I was helped by Bonnie..and my goodness, she was so nice and friendly! She explained everything thoroughly to me. She sat me down and she pulled up a desktop computer. They have one in each room and I love how transparent they are about what they are doing. I watched her pull up the program they use to login and display patient information and was very impressed by the program's UI and organization. It was a well-designed program and it became clear in that moment that this facility was top-notch. She pulled up my file and I could see everything she was seeing on the computer. She eventually took me to another room to take my x-rays and she was very gentle and efficient. Afterwards, I watched her spray and clean everything down! It was also evident that this facility takes COVID protocols very seriously (she even offered me hand sanitizer when I sat down and had me do a hydrogen-peroxide/mouthwash rinse). When I got back to the chair, she showed me my x-rays on the computer and took my blood pressure. She commented on my good blood pressure and asked if I was a runner (*bonus points for the free compliment haha). She said the doctor would be in shortly and he sure was! Dr. Mahallati was kind, efficient, and clear! He said my teeth and gums looked good (HOORAY)! He explained everything to me and then had me go back to the front to book my next appointment for a cleaning. I had such a wonderful first experience at this facility! It's kind of weird to say...but I am excited for my next dental appointment! Everyone was incredibly friendly and knowledgable. It is evident that this facility is extremely professional and holds itself to a high standard. I do think the $15 office visit charge could dissuade people from coming here, but I have to say that for the experience I had, I would gladly pay $15. I've stuck around with this dentist for a while because their staff is pretty awesome. They really did a great job at finding a good mix of people that genuinely care about their patients and workplace. It's pretty clean here and they take their time to explain the process of everything. I had fillings, x-rays, and cleanings done here. Never had any pain or pressure to do anything I didn't want. I even came here while pregnant and they took extra precautions to protect my belly from x-rays and not inject too much anesthesia to harm my baby. After seeking a 4th opinion I decided to go with a different route of treatment. Root canal and crown all for fraction of what the dentist suggested, a tooth implant for $3500.00 Per my Endodontis determine there was no tooth cracked. While been told that I need it this implant done asap. Have it done that day. That put a lot of presume and worry on me. Thank good I seek other opinions. I will have hope for options not go with the most expensive course of treatment. With the CT scan I was told my the dentis that it was to fit the implant not to confirm diagnosis. That if I decided not to have the implant done I will still have to pay for the CT scan... Its a bit disappointing since this was the first dentist I really like. Wont be coming back. read more

I was really impressed with my experience. I am one who is at the dentist's rather frequently from braces to teeth cleaning to fillings. I have never been anywhere that was so thorough. It was not rushed like many experiences I've had with other dentists. The dental hygienist took her time cleaning my teeth and did not hurt me at all. All of the staff members are very amiable and helpful. This was also the first dentist to recommend something for my sensitive teeth, a prescription strength toothpaste that I am excited to try. Talk about being professional! I was VERY VERY impressed with how the receptionist, Sergio, handled a customer. They came in (without an appointment) and asked to be seen. But he told them they had nothing available but would be bake to make an emergency appointment. He proceeded by telling them that their will be a $15 charge from all clients because of the increase of equipment they need to get due to Covid.. I think it's very reasonable, but this customer got very upset over it and was very rude! Sergio never lost his cool and professionally explained the reason for the $15 charge. Sergio handled these customers so well and was amazing! I love coming here! Everyone is so helpful and I love how Bonnie is always so happy and helpful. I found this place through a Groupon deal, otherwise I would have never gone. It's been two years since my last visit to a dentist and it's something I always dread. I'm impressed with this place. The office is clean, technologically advanced (paperless as well), the staff are very friendly (Bonnie, Gina, Holly, Sergio--they even have scrubs/shirts with their names on them) with each playing a special role in the office. Bonnie in particular went out of her way to make me feel comfortable and welcome during the x-rays as well as during my wisdom teeth extraction. They make the effort to keep you in the loop to what's going on. I appreciate how they have a computer screen in front of you that shows you the x-rays. I also appreciate how they give you a mirror to look inside your mouth to see all the issues yourself. The music they have playing in the background is nice--the dentist has good taste in music (I asked him where he got the music and he showed me his Pandora list). It makes you feel like you're on vacation. Couple that with the tall trees and sun you can see through the windows and it definitely feels like vacation. Dr. M reminds me of a Dr. House figure minus the abrasiveness. He doesn't like to do regular dental cleaning--there is a dental hygienist for that. He does the other things (like my wisdom teeth extraction). He gets in, does the work quickly and efficiently, and gets out. You get the sense that he knows what he's doing. He'll spend some time explaining the details and procedures to you, but not too much--I guess that's where the staff come in. Overall a great experience and highly recommended. read more

Dr. Mahallati is an unprofessional SCAMMING prick. I'm pretty sure he wrote the two other reviews. I just moved to the area and my new dental insurance recommended me Bay Dental. So I set up an appointment. I"m no stranger to getting a cavity, but I've never had a crown or a root canal. After some x rays, the Dr. came over and use some pretty big words about my x rays. Then proceeded to tell me I needed 2 root canals and 3 crowns that may need to be root canals and one cavity. Grand total of over $3,500.00 of work needed. Then the billing guy came over to me and used some of the same big words about the condition of my teeth and really wanted to set up as many appointment as possible to start the work. Since getting the boot from my parents insurance and sadly looking at other dentists that take poor man medi-cal insurance, you don't realize how good you had it until it's gone! I was a patient at Bay Dental for probably about 10 years and the only bad experience I had was getting cavities filled, cause no one likes that. Every experience (even the dreaded cavity ones) was professional, friendly, and clean. Bay Dental made my dentist visit almost enjoyable! I will miss chatting with all the staff while I was in too. My routine cleanings were quick and any other procedure I had done, Dr. Mahalladi made sure to explain anything I had questions on and made me feel at ease. I just finished my second visit to Bay Dental and felt compelled to leave my first review of any kind online. That's how amazing this place has been in the short time I've been a patient. Dr. Mahalladi is very comforting in the way he explains the necessary treatment, be doesn't try to scare you into doing anything you don't wan to. He explains everything in great detail without talking over your head. I have neglected my teeth for some time and because of that I am looking at about two grand of work even with a good insurance plan. At no point was I ever pressured into commiting to any of it. I was advised of the potential for future problems with hat would end in root canals for two teeth which was no surprise to me, but again there was no pressure to do so now, in fact he said the best thing is to avoid doing them if possible. I did not get the name of the woman who did the cleaning and laser therapy on my teeth, nor did I get her position, I apologize for that. She was without a doubt the best person to have ever worked on my teeth. You can immediately feel that she takes great pride in her work. She is extremely gentle, and you can feel the precision of her movements. It seems like she genuinely cares about making it as comfortable of a process as possible, and not just cleaning teeth to get a paycheck. The front office staff is welcoming, organized, polite and understanding. I am terrible at planning, and therefore missed three consecutive appointments. Most places would just drop you as a patient at that point, or at the very least be rude and make you feel like an idiot for that as they charge you huge fees at the same time. Not only were they understanding, but they didn't even charge me for these, which I would have fully understood after 3 cancellations with zero notice... sorry. I cannot understand how there could be a single bad review about any aspect of this place. I also don't understand why there aren't hundreds more five star reviews. As a person who has had every tooth in my mouth worked on at some point, by dozens of different dentists, I can assure you that will not have a better experience anywhere else. Thanks to Dr. Mahalladi, and the entire staff at Bay Dental for making what can be a very uncomfortable process go so smoothly....I'll make sure to be on time to my next appointment, I hope. read more
