Refueled only at Costco Gas on a recent road trip from Seattle to San Diego. I think we saved hundreds of dollars!

Since retiring in October 2025, Monday has becoming my "Costco Day." With the price of gas ridiculous, I've started filling up my Dodge RAM at Costco. The gas service area is quite massive and very clean. I have yet to see it crowded, but there are green/red lights to signify the status of the pumps. Lots of room to navigate, even large vehicles to get to a pump. It's one way in and one way out. Hard to talk price, their gas price is on average a few cents cheaper than what I can find in Paso Robles. Doesn't really make it worth my while to drive 30 miles to save a few cents, so I couple this stop with my Monday shopping. If you are a member of Costco, I would recommend the pumps in SLO. It's freeway accessible and affordable when you start looking at other gas stations off LOVR. read more

Located in San Luis Obispo, this small Costco gas station is located off the 101. The gas station was hard to find as compared to its location to the Costco, and difficult to get to and get out of (ended up going through the main store entrance which took time, and ended up cutting into the existing line because there was no room to manuever). It's also quite small (only 3 islands with 2 pumps each, for a total of 12 nozzles) and there was a wait (more than 10 minutes). It also had the highest gas price for 87 on our grip ($4.48 per gallon). We ended up only stopping for gas at Costco gas stations during our 4 night road trip. Of course this means that you can't be filling up at night, though now all Costco gas stations seem to be open until 10 pm on weeknights. read more

This location is nice, but tucked away and has some serious bottlenecking. So, just don't plan on having this be a super quick trip. I'd also suggest trying to go to the furthest pumps. I feel like everyone is trying to get into one of the closer ones that the back row or two tends to move a little faster. But beyond that, price is great & will beat anything in the area. read more

The price is reasonable and the added 4 pumps per line so the is hardly ever a line and quality of gasoline is good.

I always try to stop for Costco Gas- it's always cheaper than other stations. It's always well-lit with a human attendant- trust me! That makes a difference when you are traveling. It's always clean, easy in & out. And yeah, there might be a line... but it moves fast. read more

Look people gas is crazy expensive in the area due to the tax rates! This place is always packed no matter when time or day of the week of the week you plan to fuel up! Also, the town known as SLO is SLOW!!! Today the lady in front of me took about two minutes to pull away from the pump after fueling. Isn't that cool! We were at a quarter tank of gas when we arrived at San Luis Obispo. Gas was $6.79/gallon at the Chevron. That seemed expensive for regular. So it was really nice to discover a Costco nearby offering regular at $1/gallon less. $5.79 vs $6.79 is a great difference when you're filling up a gas tank. That nearly $10 savings could buy you a nice large Boba drink! The kiddo always points out prices relative to Boba drinks. This is a small 12-pump gas station (6 lanes, with 2 pumps in each lane). It's an older low tech gas station. There are no lights to indicate when a pump is available; newer Costco gas stations have this features. There were long lines when we visited because of the lower gas prices. It did not help that there was one pump, in the far right lane, that was "out of order". You would not know this until you got up closer. They really should post this sign further back so you can plan where to get in line. If you knew the pump in the far right lane was "out of order", you could decide to wait in one of the other lines further to the left. The wait was also longer for those cars which were stuck behind the 2 U-Haul trucks and 1 RV that were there. When I was leaving the gas station, I saw a pick up truck drive up the the back of the line and decide he wasn't going to wait. So Its Costco and its gas. Whats not to like? This is one of the smaller COSTCO gas stations and while there was not a line for us, it has the potential to get pretty crowded based on the limited number of pumps. As always, the hoses are long so simply pick the shortest line regardless of the side you pump is on. Trust me it will reach with ease. Even if you don't need 25 gallons of sliced pickles, you can make up the membership cost just on the gas alone. Its typically 20-30 cents cheaper than the national brands and usually is the cheapest in a any given location. They are setup to be super efficient with long hoses so even if you driving an SUV and get on the wrong side you can pull it over. Plus they have a middle lane allowing you to hop ahead. Its always credit only and 89/91 octane no middle stuff. read more

It's seemingly the cheapest gas in the SLO area at $5.39 as of 3/12/22. The lines were about 5 or 6 cars deep when I arrived at around 6:40 PM, which is pretty normal for a Costco on the weekend. I'm just glad they had gas and didn't run out, as is the norm nowadays! read more

Small station compared to the ones at home, but prices were much better than in the little coastal communities. Easy in and out. Not too far from the 101 or PCH. One of the smaller Costco gas stations I've been too but it gets the job done! The average wait I would say is 10-20 minutes mid day. But any time before 8 AM or after 7 PM you're pretty good to go with no or a minimal line It's always FREEZING cold at this gas station because of the wind for some reason it creates also some sort of breezeway for the wind! I would recommend a jacket and holding onto your dress/skirt if you're wearing one! It's pretty easy to get the attention of the attendants if you need assistance! read more

Benny & Michael have gone beyond the normal to connect and do a excellent job. If they weren't offered more hourly or promoted it would be a huge lost for Costco! I have been to Costco gas stations in quite a few cities, like Palm Desert, San Diego, Phoenix, Bakersfield, San Luis Obispo. The lines are really long during the day from say 7AM to 8PM. The best times to go during the week are 6AM -6:45 AM, and anytime just before closing. On the weekend, sometimes there is a line before it opens!!! Since it opens at 6 AM, I would go around 6:20 - 6:40 AM. Also if your gas opening is on the left side but there is an open space for right side gas delivery, don't worry, take the opening and stretch the hose. It will reach. I've done it MANY times!! Would say this is a great gas and go place. If you are a member or live near these are the best prices in town. This can be a pretty busy gas station and would avoid the busy times of the day like lunch and right after work. Best time would be in the morning or late nights. Lastly the pumps reach to both sides so would just pick the shortest line. Be sure to work your gas pumping skills to keep the line moving. I can get gas under two minutes. Clocked! Love paying less for our gas here and the best time to come is now-at the end of the night! No wait. There's really not too much to say aside from the fact that I've never seen a pump that's out and love that there is always an attendant located here strictly for fueling so they can help people with issues right away. Taking the scenic route from the SF Bay Area down to SD, this Costco Gas in SLO was like an oasis for my thirsty little roadster from a desert of high $ gas stations. The location is actually convenient, as it's not far off the 101. Lines do get long & can be slow, but gas prices here have been substantially lower than any other gas stations I've ever noticed in town or nearby. For a full tank of gas (even if it's only 13 gallons in the case of my 2-seater), the wait is worth the $ difference. Being as this is the only costco on the coast besides Santa Maria, the gas station is beyond busy! Come here expecting to wait 10-20 minutes just to pump your gas, and be surprised if you catch it at a time where you can just drive up to the pump. I'm sure everyone knows you can only pump gas here if you hold a Costco membership, and it is at least ten cents cheaper than the regular gas stations. I used to feel kind of iffy putting in Costco Gas in my car but the SLO location was one of the first in California to get Costco's Kirkland Signature gas that made it a Top Tier gas. Since then, I believe all Costco's carry it now but the combination of being one of the first to carry it + low fuel prices (~$.15 cheaper than other stations) made me stop by once in awhile. Also, not really location specific but I've noticed that most people don't realize/feel comfortable with the "extra long" hoses so they still wait on the side where their gas tank is. This typically results in the "left side" gas tank line to be longer. Oh well, that just means shorter lines for me since I actually know how to use the lines properly. read more
