If you're coming from the Lowe's/Costco parking lot, find the right exit (see screenshot, green arrows) to find the gasoline entrance. Wish they'd built a 4-way intersection at the gasoline entrance. - If your car has a left-side gas tank and you arrive at a gas pump meant for cars with right-side gas tank, the pump cable is short, so the connection will be loose and the pump may click off prematurely. Have to hold the cable with some slack until it's done pumping. They should've designed the cables longer. read more

And the award for the worst designed gas station goes to... yep, the Tustin Costco at The District. This place has been a cluster since day one and limited improvements have been made. There aren't enough pumps to satisfy the demand. There are always, always queues, regardless of the time of day. The traffic is so bad that it backs up onto the street outside of the gas station. People are illegally making turns to either try to get in or to give up on the gas station. If you're looking for a headache and have time to waste, c'mon over. 2025: 76/100 read more

Costco offers some of the best prices for gasoline in the area. There are 11 pumps allowing 22 vehicles to be filling up at the same time. Despite that, expect lines. Because of the value and cost savings, people line up and it is always busy. Go at off times if you don't like to wait, or go elsewhere and pay a bit more. The location is kept clean and they always have an attendant on site. Highly recommended if you have the time to wait. read more

Costco gas is normally priced better than other gas stations however here are a few facts to consider. 1. Lines are usually long, so patience is needed. 2. There are no window cleaning amenities as I presume that would slow the lines down too much and impede on the flow of traffic. 3. The worst part about Costco gas, for me, is that they allow customers to travel-on to any pump regardless of which side of the car has the fuel tank. This is the dumbest of dumb and dumber actions. Why? Because the people to whom drag the fuel hose over the top of their vehicle and or around the back of their vehicles, cause a butterfly effect of the following... a) the people pumping on the opposite side of their vehicle's gas tank are often times standing in the middle land which is designated for drivers to pass through but customers often times have to wait for these people, meaning their physical bodies, to move out the middle lane, in order to pass them. b) most vehicles pumping on the opposite side usually pull the gas hose around the back of their vehicle and to compensate for this ACTION they actually tend to overshoot the pump so that the rear of their vehicle is past the pump rather then being parked more rear centered and parallel to the pump. c) It takes more time to walk and to stretch the gas hose out to a further distance then what is required These three dynamics actually create unnecessary chaos! So I don't get why Costco supports this behavior. Is it really too difficult to drive up to a pump that matches the side of your vehicles gas tank? Once I was parked at the front pump of three pumps, and positioned my vehicle perfectly when this big guy in a big SUV pulls up and looks at me and ask me if I come to Costco often. I'm said yes, why? He then proceeded to tell me that I should have pulled my vehicle further forward, basically leaving the pump behind my vehicle, to leave him more room to pull forward. I was thinking, excuse me? Like what? I was trying to assimilate the point of his statement, as I had left more than enough space for a vehicle of any size to pull in behind me...so I was totally mind blown by his words, but then I saw him dragging the hose from the pump around the rear of his vehicle to the opposite side, and then I figured it out..."oh, I see, you are one of those pumpers, I exclaimed outloud! I'm thinking, yeah I should not have parked perfectly in my space to pump on the correct side of my vehicle...wherein I take the pump handle and pull on the hose and use about three feet of it, to insert the spout, and seal the venturi, to take it from point A to point B, and somehow I should have had a crystal ball telling me the guy behind me is going to need extra space and practically move into my zone so he can drag and stretch the hose around the back of his SUV and then wrap it around the rear car panel, to access the gas tank, which is the furthest away from the pump that you can get as the hoses can only be stretch so far! 4) The best part about Costco gas is using a Costco Citibank Visa Credit Card because by using the credit card you BYPASS having to use your membership card, which reduces your time at the pump! When I had figured this out by sheer observation at the pumps, I asked a Costco employee to tell me all the benefits of their Credit Card, and I was given a long list and then I said well I'd like to apply for the Credit Card but not because of any of the benefits you mentioned and the employee was nice and she said oh really, and I said yes, I think your marketing department has missed the biggest selling point, I want the card so I can save time at the gas pump, so I don't have take my Costco Card out of my handbag and I don't have to scan the Costco Card and then wait and then scan a Credit Card and then wait, cuz with the Costco Credit card its on wave and your are done and dusted. read more

Long lines, selfish customers, no employee around to help. Avoid this location! I went there today to get gas and found out my membership expired which printed out a receipt telling me to go to the warehouse membership desk to renew. So it can read my membership info and it can take my payment for gas but it cannot renew my membership there? How inconvenient! I rarely go to Costco, maybe once a month or less, so I don't keep track of my membership. I thought it would just add the membership fee when it's time and I remember being able to renew at the gas station before, just not at this location? Since I waited long enough, I decided to ask people around if I can use their membership but all of them said no. One guy said no, it will charge to my account. Another lady said no, it needs to be the same name. Ok thanks I'll just go inside the warehouse and wait in another line to renew my membership and come back here to wait in line again? The organization here is superb. Multiple lanes with lighted indicators of when a gas pump slot is available. I come here often during lunch and there's barely a wait. I'm usually in and out within 5-7 mins. The only con is that there's only one entrance in so there could be a backlog of cars of everyone comes at once. read more

Yes! I do recommend this gasoline business but as always beware. This location is cheaper than other Costco gas locations by 10 cents so hence the long long line. They are staffed well but the customers are usually on their phones and don't pull up or forward in their cars so lines tend to be very long. So if you don't mind a wait for that extra 10 center per gallon saving, then visit here! read more

This Costco gasoline has got to be the holy grail of nightmares. Everybody knows the terrors that ensue when you foolishly decide to fill up your tank at a Costco gas station, fully aware of the Disneyland-esque lines you'll wait in just to get the sweet, low prices. But you don't know what hell is until you've driven up to this gas station. That is, if you can even manage to drive into this place. Pro tip: IT IS ALWAYS PACKED. I'm not even kidding. All hours of the day. Every. Single. Day. It actually makes me want to tear my hair out with just how painful this station is but with the steep gas prices in Irvine, it sort of justifies saving those extra $0.30 or $0.40 cents... If you plan on filling your gas up here like the poor masochistic soul that you are, make sure not to go to the last two on the right since there are only two pumps there whereas everything else has at least three. I'll be honest, I hardly bother checking in here yet probably have visited this Costco gas about 50 times since I moved here. The gas is the cheapest in the area. Plus with the key fob it's not as bad of an experience as other gas stations. This Costco is the cheapest gas station south of Highway 55 in Orange county. The other Costco on Technology Drive is typically about 10 cents more expensive, albeit that hardly matters much for me since this Costco is still the closest to me. Best times to fill up is always near closing at 8pm on weekdays and 5-6pm on weekends since you'll only have a few cars left. That being said, before COVID-19, this place was a zoo and takes about 10-15 good minutes from the entrance to the pump on a typical day and it's such a drag (At least there are status lights indicating when pumps are open). Nowadays, it's still crowded but much less people are driving. Still worth getting the gas even with a 15 minute wait during rush hour or lunch breaks. The cars don't back up on the left turn entering as much anymore but it's still busy. read more

I want to rate this place four stars mainly because it has a relatively large lot and even though it's always trafficked up or the intersection gets jammed, there's the Lowe's/Costco parking lot that you could technically cut through if you really don't want to wait for the intersection to clear up. The two pumps at the very right side of the lot only allow for 2 cars per side of the pump, vs the other pumps that allow 3 cars per side. I've rarely seen pumps down but you'll always have to deal with Tetris of cars and dumb drivers. I had to minus one star because the associates at Costco really don't do too much to direct traffic (which would help a TON) but they are friendly and usually stay near the pumps. They will also wave down other cars if there is an open spot which is a nice gesture as well. Overall, I rather deal with the traffic here than the traffic at the Costco on technology drive. read more

Costco gas is usually a great place to get gas. It is much cheaper than many places. I expect there to be a line but this station only gets 4 stars because Of the layout. You are forced to enter through this narrow entry and it's hard to get to the 3-4 pumps to the right. This creates a huge bottleneck and it makes it really inefficient. read more

It's so funky having 2 Costco's so close by, so you do have to make sure you're at the right one which has the Gas Station. Fear not when you see there's a line really. They always seem to move pretty well and quickly. Try to pull to the right where there are additional lanes and you'll make better time. It's great that it's placed across the street from the main Costco Building so the two parking lot traffic areas don't overlap and affect each other. Highly recommend. The wait here is insane. 30 minutes, cars spilling onto incoming traffic insane. Like they should just open another gas station near this one because it's always packed unless you go at like 5pm or at the crack of dawn. Even 7am isn't early enough. It's also hard to tell if spots are open because it's 3 gas stations per section, so cars are always blocking and you never know if the front or middles are open. Employees try their best but there's only like 2 of them. Tbh, a food truck should open up here because you can finish a meal while waiting in line lol. read more

We went on a Friday around 2PM and it was super busy. There were long lines and heavy traffic. The pumps on the right side weren't working.

It has been close to a year, when I made my last comments. Since then ,I have been using the new gas station. It is nice. It has many lanes and often there is very little wait time. However, since it has now become popular, more busy, it has become harder to get in and out of the place. Getting in is a little tricky, but the worst part is getting out. Kind of funny, because we seem all to be so eager and rushed to get out. There is a serious design flaw,again. Just like at the district. Who are these engineers designing this stuff? One way in, one way out. Remember there are at least 8 lanes with 4 pumps each. So all these people, need to go through that little mouse hole ,to get out. They could fix that problem with little effort. Just use the lane next to the first one and keep the first one for exiting. I sincerely do not understand the engineers who planned this. Costco gas is the cheapest (thanks to Brandon) and I use it solely on price. Today I went to get gas around 3 pm and waited to enter one of the lines. Every Costco gas station is poorly organized and this location is no exception. The gas employee, Rodney, is screaming and motioning me to move into a lane. I drive a large Lexus SUV and you can't just "squeeze into a lane." I rolled down my window and asked him "where would you like me to move?" And he responded that I needed to move up and that he was doing his job. There was no where to move and he continued to yell and motion his arms at me. He then starts saying negative things to me to another driver. I rolled down my window and asked him if that was necessary. He held up his name tag, pounded his chest and said "if you have a problem, make a complaint. My name is Rodney." I thought about calling the warehouse and sharing my experience but I think sharing it here will make other drivers be aware of this hostile employee. If you don't like working in a gas station line, find another job. Otherwise, shut up and be nice. That's why you get paid. read more

Great prices. Lots of pumps, but oh so crowded unless you go after 9:00 pm or super early. They have a lot of gas pumps here; three two-sided pumps per line, but it still gets very backed up. Not too sure what else to say except that I suggest you use the restroom, get that Costco Food Court snack and bring a magazine or book to settle in for the wait. read more

It's a Costco Gas Station, so I'm not going to completely ding it because the product itself is still great. The price and the quality is almost always cheaper than everywhere else... However, the layout of this particular location is probably the worst Costco Gas station I've ever been to. It's basically in another parking lot across from the Costco itself. The ergonomics are astoundingly horrible; the ingress and the egress create traffic jams in the parking lot and backs up traffic on the streets as well. To top it off, the lines are long the pumps are narrow compared to other Costco Gas Stations, and the shared shopping plaza has some fairly heavy traffic. No Bueno! Unfortunately this is the most central Costco Gas in the Irvine and neighboring areas. It's always packed; sometimes you can end up waiting 20 minutes to get to the pump. They've recently re-done the roads nearby to add designated turning lanes into Costco Gas, I think it's helped with the congestion on the streets but hasn't done anything to improve the wait or mess on the lot. Best times to come here on the weekend would probably be immediately after opening and right before closing. Like many of the reviewers said, people tend to be pretty aggressive while waiting in line and trying to cut across the lot into the shorter lanes. It's funny because once you get out of the car at the pump they start avoiding eye contact... Other than the lengthy wait times and aggressively driving customers, this place hands down has the cheapest gas around and will probably continue to be jam packed for the rest of forever. If you have the time and patience to come here and wait, try to make it right after opening or right before closing (or mid-day/off hours during the week)! read more

Costco is my first choice for getting gas. Not only is it less expensive, the staff always offer to pump my gas for me because I am disabled. I have a disabled license plate. I pull up to the pump and tap my horn and they come and take care of me. Would it be nice to have zero wait time for this? Usually, I prefer not to wait in line and would either go at closing if I could. This evening I decided to get gas around 5pm or so. There was a line but it went faster than I would have expected. The wait was either 10-15 minutes. I ended up at the wrong line where I have to extend the hose to the other side of my van. I thought I was going to have a problem extending the hose and was about to move my van when a Costco employee came to help right away. She assisted me immediately and extended the hose and put in the gas and locked it as well. I was so grateful for her help and this is excellent customer service in my book. Costco gas is awesome! Finding reasonably priced gas in Irvine is like panning for gold. You'll have to keep searching far and wide then maybe you'll get lucky. You might as well suck it up and wait in line if you want to save a few bucks on gas. Ambience: everyone knows the lines for Costco gas is really long. However, the lines move quicker than it seems. Most people know the drill. They all seem to try to get gas as quick as possible, and then leave. No one idles here! Service: sometimes there are attendants who try to signal you that there's an open pump. Gas: It's cheaper than all the gas stations near by. There aren't that many in west Irvine to begin with. If you have the time to spare to get gas here, I say do it. On average, the wait can be about 10 minutes or less. Yes the gas is here is pretty value but be ready to wait 10 plus minutes to be able to fill your gas. The line gets pretty ridiculous and I feel like I've tried all times of day. Don't worry too much about which side the pump is on bc either way it'll reach. Just try to pick the shortest line, if at all possible. There's a person there during the day to direct traffic and aid cars in getting in between 2 cars. That's nice for me bc I hate parallel parking, and that's what it feels like. This gas station is usually packed! Try to come during an off time and you might be able to fill up right away. Otherwise be ready to wait for 20 minutes or more. The line can extend all the way to the entrance of the pump, causing a lot of traffic on the main road. Most people are considerate and fill gas as quickly as possible so others in line can fill up in a timely manner. There aren't usually attendants. I've seen them very rarely. You will occasionally see an attendant. They are helpful when they are around. The station is kept fairly clean and there are a lot of pumps. A lot of times near the end of the month, they will close the pump for a few days because they've reached the limit for how much gas they can sell. Extremely inconvenient, but there is another station near Irvine Spectrum if you have to fill at a Costco station. read more
