I was out running errands on an early Thursday morning, and also needed gas for my vehicle. Good thing this Shell was conveniently located in the same plaza as Target and Peet's. Most of the pumps were available when I arrived. It was easy peasy to input my rewards number at the pump and also pay at the pump. As my car was filling up, I saw the Pepsi delivery person carrying drinks into the convenient store to restock. I did not need to interact with the service attendant. I did like that the "security" tags were still intact at the pump. Other than what was expected, it was a smooth experience. read more

Something is up with this gas station payment method. They have Apple Pay on every pump, but it's turned off and you have to walk inside to pay. Once you pay inside and then go to pump the gas it doesn't work. I then have to walk back to the store to see what happened and they tell me that my money got returned to my account and I have to re pay, but I have to wait 2-3 business days for my money from the original payment to return. I live in Irvine and have been for 3 years now. I've visited this location only a few times. I can't remember how long ago it was. However on friday 11/18 I noticed a debit change to my bank from this location for $8. Of course it says 7-11 store# 46198 because this shell is partnered with 7-11. I was shocked to find that upon further research, there were $8 transactions every month dating back to a whole year. They've been robbing me. This review is solely for the carwash. I live very close by and visit here weekly. I truly like this gas station/carwash. The carwash works decent most of the time and is cheap ($6 - $8 - $10). There's 2 issues. There's a 50/50 chance the chemicals run out toward the end of the day and nobody replenishes them until the next day. The attendant (night shift) will not issue a credit, discount, or even an apology. He's become comfortably numb with the Shell patrons' complaints. According to him, the policy is to speak in-person with the manager DURING THE DAY. Horrible company practice. They know 90% of people won't have the time to come back and complain the next day. Sadly this is the new age of customer appreciation. Their only saving grace is the gas prices are reasonable here and the station is clean, well lit, and safe. I invite a reply from the manager. Spent $9 on a car wash and was given a code. The voucher code was available to use for 14 days. I used it a day after I got bought the car wash, however the voucher ended up not working. I went into the store and asked for a refund or another voucher code, but the guy with the mullet didn't even help me. He told me that there is nothing he can do, and I would have to wait either tomorrow morning or call in to get it resolved. Mullet man gave me a cheeky laugh and told me I am out of luck. Let me share my experience so that you can become aware of the mishandling of your business; 1) He plays loud Arabic music. It's difficult to communicate as customers have to yell over the music to ask for what they want, which leads to complain number two. 2) I did not catch his name as it's blurry in the picture. It appears to be "APE", & I wouldn't be surprised at all as he acted like a dumb animal of low, or no IQ. Each time I ask for something, or asked him to resolve an issue, he'ld simply stare. The woman before me was treated the same & left to go to another gas station frustrated as her pump wasn't working. He shrugged & rolled his eyes. He clearly does not like his job. I'm not sure if where he's from they don't respect women?, however, this kind of behavior can lead to LAWSUITS here. Do you want to eventually end up in COURT? 4) He takes long breaks. He will go outside & lock the gas station to socialize for 20-30 minutes while customers are lined up. He does not care for how many customers leave, nor your losses. Watch your cameras. 5) He attempted to overcharge me. There was another man (elderly man) that entered from the back room. I asked if he was the manager & can please help resolve the issue. They communicated something in their language, then this elderly man also continued to awkwardly stare at me with no answer. 6) The "APE"? man simply responded, "No. I won't help. If you don't like, then oh well. Go somewhere else", & crossed his arms & stood there. This is when I took this picture. He started yelling in his own language. It was Loud & Threatening! He chased me all the way out to my car while clicking pictures of me. I wonder if he is aware of the laws in this country. Is he Legal? Such threatening behaviors could lead to the " Shell " business ending up in courts. All of this happened while the Arabic music was still blasting as if I came out of a club in a foreign country. It's 24/7. Their car wash works for me at $6-$9 per wash. But I love their air station especially if I have to pay $1.50 for air for my tires. Their machine can be preset for your desired tire pressure and fill up your tires. It alerts you when the pressure is reached (no more tire pressure gauge to check). Also love that the air/water/vacuum area is well lit at night. Now if only their gas prices were more economical with others in the area..... read more

This is the first time I've seen an auto tire pressure pump at a gas station! I feintly remember the Costco at Lakewood also having one. And according to my Indian colleague, they have them all over India. Select the pressure desired and it'll stop automatically for you! The pump nozzle is strong enough to hold onto the tire without your hand holding it. The inside of the station was clean and organized, too. And the attendant was kind enough to turn on the pump for me free of charge (supposedly in California gas stations are required to do this for air - and maybe water. They just get away with charging because people don't know it's actually free if you ask. I've had the attendant turn the pump on for me at 5 different gas stations so far, free of charge). read more

I was shopping at Target and thought why not just take the car through the car wash at the Shell. The young man has been bugging me about bird shit that's near the handle of the back seats and he freaks out each time he has to get in the car reminding me to take the car to the car wash. I vaguely remembered reading Florance's review about having the right change so I made sure I had it. For some reason I thought it was only $3 for the wash (I guess I read the $3.50 Florance had wasted and that amount popped in my head), but turned out it was $5. In any case, I was already in line so what the hell. The machine takes dollar bills too. I used a $5 note and it worked. It only takes $1s and $5s and coins. I would have to say, the car wash was super clean. It also dried my car off rather well too... far better than the hand wash one over on Sand Canyon and I-5 at the 76 station. This blow dry air instead of towel drying doesn't leave lint all over you car. I was skeptical at first, but I actually thought this place cleaned my car better than 76 and it was 2 bucks cheaper and you don't have to tip the guys who hand wash AND hand dry your car. Great place to get gas. I commute to and from Long Beach every day and this place has the cheapest "quality" gas in the area, and is comparable to the Shell I fill up at close to my work. As you go through the menu, you are asked a question whether you need a car wash or not, if you say no, screen freezes for two minutes and literally does Nothing. If you. Happen to touch anything on the pump, it kicks you out and says, transaction was canceled and see the clerk. You go in and realize there is a long line of patrons with the same issue. When you voice your concern to the clerk, you hear , " all stations are the same, you do not know how to use the pump"! I came here because after the sprinkling of rain last week, my car needed a serious car wash. (You know, the kind of rainfall that just turns everyone's car dirt into mud.) It's an old jalopy so I usually don't splurge on hand-washing (unlike the rest of Irvine, apparently). A run through the machine is just fine. However, it appears that everyone else likes to wash their cars during lunch too, because the line was packed. Think In-n-Out packed. Who knew? I didn't. This is where I get annoyed. Did you know that these automated car washes are cash only? This is a new millennium, a new decade. Who carries cash on them anymore? Argh. They didn't have a sign so until I: 1) waited 1/2 an hour in line 2) drove around the little bend 3) had at least 5 cars behind me 4) was at the front of the line 5) was crawling all around my jalopy, trying to find my non-existent cash stash that I discovered I didn't have enough. This is where I get stupid (er). So I popped in the $3.50 that I had, thinking I could find more. Needless to say, I was wrong. To top it off, the machine does not have a function for refunds/money return. I guess normally when a person makes it that far into the washing process, they're committed to it. been coming to this gas station lately because I'm on my way to always pick up my smoothie at the new tastea in this plaza... anyways... this place is always packed!! sometimes ill drive around twice to get a spot. this is good that it has a good amount of pumps, air pumps, and a car wash. ill say its just ok because occasionally when i go to put in my fuel rewards, it will cause the machine to stop working and sometimes I've had to restart the process three times and that in its self takes like 5 minutes. so please, get better machines! other than that, prices are pricer than other place... but at least they have soap in their water for the window cleaning... read more

And I think this location is open 24 Hours, it's right by the Target so you can get some shopping done after. The worst car wash ever! Was here a few weeks ago and thought it was just a fluke that I had a bad experience with the dryer not working. I complained and they did refund my money. That was fine (and the reason for the 1 star). Well, I went back today and this time not only was the soap not working properly but the rinse wasn't working and the brushes didn't completely get everything off on my car.
