Gotta say I love this place.. with a hungry husband and an 18 yr old son in the house, you can not go wrong with Costco. This one rocks.. Everything is always as fresh as it comes, and the service is steller. The only down fall and I can not deducted stars for it, over most of the check outs, there are fan, the fans have lights above them.. when the fans are on, the light ray is broken by the turning fan blades.. for people like myself that can trigger a massive migraine headache by the strobe light affect! My daughter went to have her eyes exam at the Costco Optometrist, Andrew Lu. They are not in VSP network so we pay out of network price. My daughter is switching from glasses to contact lenses. There are many brands to choose from. She is not sure which ones work better so she asked for a weekly disposable sample. She decided to go back and ask for the daily sample and the guy was very upset at her and was making very mean comment to her. I am very upset to hear that a professional with such education can't just say no instead making unprofessional comment to a teenage for asking. The girl at the front desk never smile and looked like she hate talking to people. Not sure how much a sample of disposable lens cost, but he just lost a whole family of customers. read more

Never too busy, always staffed appropriately, and well stocked! My 18 month old son open and spilled the basket of raspberries on the way out, and as I was picking them up of the floor, a team member (Sammy?) stopped and helped me pick them up AND got me a brand new basket. I shop at this Costco all the time and buy my gas there at least once a week... I've never used their Tire Department- haven't had a need until last Wednesday. I was leaving the parking lot with my usual weekly items packed in my car and my two toddlers when I started to hear a clacking noise from my tire. I stopped and checked it out (thankfully) before getting on the freeway for my drive home. I found a nail sticking out of my right front tire. Irritated, I turned right back around and drove to the Costco Tire Department. Jose, came right out and inspected my tire. He confirmed that there was a slow leak and then informed me that because I did not have Costco tires that they could not repair it for me- but he directed me to Wall Mart across the street and added that if they couldn't fix it then to come back and they would put my spare tire on for me. I wanted it fixed so I thanked him and drove over to Wall Mart hoping that they weren't closed as it was just past 6:30p. I got there and the service tech refused to help me, stating they were closed even though the sign clearly stated 7pm closing time- then rolled the gate down in my face! (Totally separate review by the way!) So, I headed back to Costco clearly frazzled and angry with two toddlers quickly heading to melt down city in the back seat . Jose got me in right away despite it being busy and handled me delicately as he could assess I was pretty upset. About 30 minutes later he came back in with my paperwork and informed me that I was ready to go and that they decided to repair the tire even though it was a non-Costco tire. I was so thankful and really touched that he went above and beyond for us. I pulled out my wallet to pay and then he told me there was no charge- WHAT! Not only did they offer to put on my spare- which they didn't have to, they went ahead and repaired my tire when it was clearly not their policy to do so - AND they didn't charge me. When was the last time you've had that level of customer service? I have been driving on the tire for a few days now and have had no problems at all. I will most definitely be bringing my future business back to Costco Tire Department in Gilroy- and asking for Jose! read more

This Costco is crazzyyyy. The food court is good but you shoudknt need a Costco card to buy a pizza. I went in and showed the girl my moms card and she said I had be with her but I showed her we were related then we saw someone we knew and walked in with them and they bought it for us . But as soon as we walked out they stopped up saying we can't come in with family l. This is crazy . They shouldn't harass especially teenagers who are obviously eating. They told us we had a warning but all we did was go in with someone we knew. They are rude! read more

I like going to this Costco because it's not as crowded as most usually are. I went over the weekend and had the worst experience with the supervisor that made my decision to never go back to that store and rethink about ever going back to a Costco. Absolute worst customer service at the tire center. I have always purchased my tires from them, never an issue, and they come with a guarantee. Ran over something in the road, and while I was out of town... Asked my son if he could take my car in to get the tire replaced since it was on a small spare, and I'm busy working all week. This is what we ran into- No. They wouldn't replace it without me physically present even though it was my car on the registration, my Costco card, and they had the record of me actually purchasing the tire on months prior. I even called them directly, and they says... Even if I added my son on the account and they issued him his own card on my business account, they still wouldn't replace my tire! What they would do... Would be to allow him to "purchase" a tire, put the blown tire in a plastic bag, put it in my car... Then when I get a chance... I could return to the tire center with receipt in hand and request a refund....(?) But when all was said and done... They even refused to do that- even though they offered that as an option to begin with!!!? So- at the end of 3 hours, they put back on the small spare, and when I return from my exhausting trip, I'll have to "personally" go to Costco to get my fully warrantied tire replaced on my own. Thanks Costco- (NOT)... For making life so easy for your customers! Especially when we pay for the warranties! read more

Had my first bad experience in over 5 years years of going ! First I was in line and was patiently waiting to get rung in. When I was up the lady that was helping started slamming my stuff on the band to the point of breaking my eggs !! The she proceeded to let me know that next time place all my items on the band (I only had 6 and faced them for easy scanning ! Went to Cosco this last weekend. My intention is to have several pair of lenses put on cute frames I've bought this past months. I need options!!. I also have a several pair of high end sun glasses ,I would like to add my prescription and use them as well. We all know , I collect high end sun glasses. Since I needed prescription glasses , my sun glasses are useless to me. Well, I asked the young lady at the counter if I could purchase just a prescription lenses for my frames , she took one look at them ( they are inexpensive ) and she kind of threw them back at me ,and told me they would not touch them in her lab. They supposely had to many embellishments. I proceeded to explain to her, that this is why I bought them that I wanted something different. She told me no that it would not lenses to my frames because he had too many embellishments. I looked at her display and I ask her well I have Gucci glasses here ,and some other high-end glasses that I would like to add lenses to. I asked since she wouldn't do my so-called cheap frames would you she be able to convert my sunglasses into prescription classes. She laughed and said no those are not Gucci or Tom Ford. I told her yes they are ,they are both Gucci and Tom Ford and other brands . She proceeded to laugh out loud ,shook her head and walked away and left me talking to myself. She then went to the counter told or some thing to the other girl in the counter and they proceeded to watch me and Aaron ,as Aaron was trying on glasses. As if we were going to steal glasses,.I guess, she thought ,since I have so many glasses in my purse ,I might be a thief. After our eye exam we went back to the counter and asked for a different lady. She helped us and when I asked for name brand glasses she told me ,they were behind the counter and they were not allowed to show them. I asked her to show me the classes. She called the first lady that did not help us the first time. She came back with a smirk on her face. She named the prices of the glasses as she show them to me. As if I could not afford them. And she took them out of the case only one by one. After I looked at the glasses I noticed that the prices for extremely cheap even for the name brand sun glasses a fraction of what I normally pay in other places. So I could not understand why she was being careful with glasses that were really only two or $300. I am very disappointed in the customer service at Costco and Gilroy. We ended up buying a couple pair of glasses. I only did it so I can see the satisfaction in my husband's face when she had to ring me up. Boo Costco Gilroy you lucky only had a little bit of time and it's hard to get my husband to check his eyes, otherwise I would reschedule my appointment.And lady in the counter moral of the story , people in sweat pants can afford name brand glasses , worse Customer service ever ! I went to Costco in Gilroy on a Sunday to buy 20 lbs of Tri-tip for a charity BBQ. The parking lot was jammed, the store was jammed, the food lines were jammed, the whole place was a "zoo". I found individually packaged tri-tip that wa $8.99/lb. After lots of looking, I found the "shrink wrapped" bulk packages. There was price tag sign for tri-tip - $5.99/lb (that's more like) but no product in the case. I got the attention of someone behind the case and was told in a very surly and unhelpful tone of voice that "they were all out." Looking at the preparation area, it was all soaped down and folks were taking off their coats, I concluded that they were more interested in going home than helping a customer. Odd, because the warehouse was open for two more hours. Anyway, I left to go to another store where I found an engaged staff and the product I was looking for. I have some other things on my Costco list: a flat screen TV, a new computer, some household items, etc. I doubt that I'll be driving to the Gilroy warehouse. It is now on my "Stores of Last Resort" list. read more

The store itself isn't the problem, it's most of the people they hire here. Costco is one of the only big named stores that pay their employees well, so I don't understand why they have to be so rude. In one visit we had 2 employees speak to us as if we're dogs. Costco should have a communication class that their employees are required to take before they're hired. read more

This isn't the biggest Costco ever which is not really a big deal because it's still giant compared to most stores. Costcos are usually pretty consistent. The lines aren't bad. The food court is cash only unless you pay at the register. They also have a gas station. I enjoy a good Costco run and maybe a ride on a flatbed cart! read more

I love shopping at this Costco, they are always stocked on all the food items that I normally can't find in other Costco's. Even though lines could get long, staff is very quick and make sure lines are moving quickly. Will continue to make this my Costco of preference. read more

I intended to buy 3 boxes of a product. 1 of the box was a damaged and another one was open, so i asked the cashier to make sure the opened box was completed. He counted it and there were missing about 5 items. Since i needed all the items but it was not fear to pay full price of the opened box, i asked te cashier to see if he could ajust te price on the open box. He called over the someone else and explained the situation. This other person immideatly denied and walk away w not appology or any explenation. Really upset about it cuz i need the items. I ended making an extra trip to different store to get what i need. I was not requesting any type of discounts. All i asked for was for an adjustment of the opened box, but i guess the manager did not care and preferred to keep the opened box in the store. Really disappointed with the rude customer service I experience. read more

This Costco has a gas station - yay! It has food service INSIDE in an area that is kept clean - yay! It has great employees who are super-helpful - yay! And parking isn't bad compared to other Costco locations in the the Bay area. read more

We have a big family so we are always at Costco... Love the prices! And they always have good deals. My kids love to walk around and eat snacks ;). I really dislike that Costco will carry an item, get you hooked and then stop carrying it. That really drives me crazy... other than that This place is awesome! read more

Tire Center- if you have nice rims and want to keep them that way..don't go here! They will damage them and deny it.

DEDICATED TO TWO FOOD COURT EMPLOYEES: I called in a pizza & was told it's going to be ready at 6:05. Me and my boyfriend get to Costco at 6 and got rejected at the door due to the proper card holder (my boyfriends dad) not being present..we've ordered and got in plenty of times using his card! But that's understandable as it's the policy however he lets us in after his father calls and tells them he sent us to pick up the pizza, at this point it's past 6:05. We get in after explaining the situation to two other workers just to get in line for the woman at register to apparently look for my pizza & comes back with another lady and asks her "You called right" the register lady then tells me "I called you off my cell and you did not answer" I look at my phone NO MISSED CALLS! Lady #2 jumps in and says "We close at 6 and what we do when you're not here to pick up the pizza is we throw it away" Are you kidding me?! Lady..I have no missed phone call..so 1. You're lying about calling me and took it upon yourselves to serve out my pizza or 2. You wrote down my phone number incorrectly or 3. You guys really wasted food! How ridiculous! Then to talk to me as if I'm at fault for you giving me a ready time after the store is closed ,not answering a call I never got , and for being held at the door for 10 minutes while you decided to throw my pizza out . I have been a Costco customer for 30 years. This company has a solid business model to provide it's customers with merchandise at lowest price possible. The selection is limited but it almost always is the best for the price category. I recommend membership that would provide you with great saving. Some products you will have to purchase at bigger packages. That means lower cost and less time restocking. It has saved me thousands of dollars a year and it specially was helpful when I was a student with a family many years ago. The savings helped us stay afloat and I could finish collage. read more

Did you know a crowd actually begins forming outside the Almaden Plaza Costco thirty minutes before they open? Madness! The Gilroy Costco is rarely crowded, I'm not afraid I'll be run down in the parking lot by frustrated shoppers focusing solely on parking spaces, and overall the staff is awesome. On nights when I don't feel like cooking, I can dash in here for a rotisserie chicken and green salad in ten minutes flat. If I have time to burn, I'll even gas up my car at rock bottom prices. The other South Bay Costco locations may have more items, but they are crazy busy. read more

You can get a 5 pound bag of shredded mozzarella cheese for like 13 dollars! How great is that. There are many good deals to be found here. As Costco gos you'll have to spend more to get more but the quality of the items there carry are second to none. They do a really really good job of managing the lines at this particular location and the store is always clean. read more

Went in to get a blown tire replaced on account of the fact that it had just been purchased at Costco recently with the warranty for replacements.. Long story short, here I am driving 130 miles at 50mph because I still have my spare on because the COMPLETE UNPROFESSIONALS that they have down in the tire center refused to honor their warranty and policy. I'm a huge fan of Costco and especially this particular one because they never seem to be as busy as say the one in Santa Cruz. In terms of the store, I would rather go here than to any of the others in my area. The overall appearance is clean and neat. However my rating reflects my recent trip there.. For instance my brother in law noticed that the Kirkland Fabric Softner seemed half empty and I have to say that when I initially picked it up from the store it did seem a little lighter than usual but I just ignored it and went on to the next thing on my list also while I was putting away the Kirkland brand paper towels, I happened to still have a few left over from the last time I was there and you could definitely tell the difference in the sizes; they seem to have shrinked some however everything on the package still reads the same. It appears to me that Costco may be getting a little stingy, so just be a little cautious when purchaching their brand items. Buyers beware!!! read more

Love this store! Always enough people to help you out. The crowds are always minimal and the wait for gas is nothing. Everyone is happy and shopping is no stress. on my long drive from LA back to silicon valley, i was very happy to see a very short line at this particular costco gas station. short line, no frills, no mess, just filler up the tank and go on my merry way. it's too bad i live about an hour from this gas station, else i'd be coming here all the time. great location, located at the junction of 152 and 101, next to the gilroy premium outlet. read more
