Literally the cheapest gas on the island. This place is about $0.20 cheaper than most gas stations throughout. Also one of the cheapest meals you can get on the island at their food court (but nothing great) and a great place to buy take home gifts like macadamia nut caramel corn and chocolates. Costco is usually not the first place I go for groceries but this hawaiian costco was pretty amazing! They have a lot more asian products than the mainland costcos and I was so intrigued!!! Furikake, poke, ramen, huge pineapples, coconut snacks, macadamia nut things...Love it. We got some staples here to save some money and it worked out well because we had quick breakfasts/snacks for days we wanted to go exploring around the island. The pharmacy even helped me fill a prescription that I didn't have time to refill before leaving the mainland. To top if off, the gas was inexpensive. Thumbs up. read more

Costco is a must stop when visiting the island...like any other Costco that you find, with a twist. Their food court is outside with wild chickens that wait for any morsels of food to drop on the ground...don't see that on the East Coast for sure, AND their seafood selection POKE heaven!! Best place to stock up in basic necessities while visiting the island. The have a lot of Hawaiian goodies for take home. Everyone is helpful except for that one lady (older/kind of skinny) that works in customer service. She's the only person I encountered in the island that's not friendly & nice. just needed some groceries for my stay. employees were all very rude. it started when i was putting up my items. the cashier lady was being stern and said i had to buy two breads, two bagels, and two muffins. i told her that i'd have one of my friends go grab an extra (i don't know why we couldn't just buy one of each) and continued to put things up. she glared at me and then asked for my membership card. i handed her my mother's card and told her that it was my mother's. she then asked for an ID and had one of the other ladies "look up my costco card". the two ladies took forever to do so and came back and started bombarding me with questions. (my mom gave me her card just so i could get a bulk of groceries because i'm 18 and don't live alone so why would i need a costco card of my own??) they asked me where was my mother and i said "not here", and then they proceeded to tell me that they were going to confiscate the card and my mother would have to pick it up. i told them that she was in arizona. the lady that "looked up my card" rolled her eyes at me, and the other one said she was gonna have to buy a new one in the states. i told them that she was not gonna do that and they were gonna give me my card back. the lady who looked up the card then told me that normally they had to confiscate the card and that if i want to buy groceries that i can pay $60 for a card. we ended up leaving and will never be giving you guys my business. thanks for ruining my first day :-) read more

We stayed at a condo during our vacation and went to costco for food. This is the same costco and same prices you'll find at any other one in the country. The milk and OJ were a bit high, but that's because it's Hawaii. It's a little hard to gauge how much food you'll eat so don't go shopping hungry. We ended up throwing out some food, but it was still way cheaper than shopping at local grocery stores or especially eating at restaurants. You can get almost everything you need except for condiments and everything was very fresh. Costco is the way to go when renting a condo. read more

if you are from the mainland the food at the court is not the same, the buns are really crumbly and dry and the chicken roll things are not as cheesy and good. Still ok food but not like mainland. Also no costco card needed to eat at outside food court here. read more

Costco is by far the best place to purchase meat and water if you plan on a long stay. Service was great! Store was clean and organized. Hot Dog and other goodies are outside and you don't have to be a member to purchase snack bar food. read more

All I can say is POKE!!!!!!!!! Man I wish my costco had that. I was literally craving the asparagus poke. I also bought some really good Dahui board shorts for $20, I had to buy my best bud a pair! It is a must stop for the essentials if you need them. We all know the island can get pretty expensive for food. DONT EVER ORDER APPLIANCES FROM COSTCO! I ordered a gas dryer online with Costco on August 28th. They sent an email confirming it. Nothing happened after that. Sept. 28th I check that same email and see a link to click to check order. I click and it shows ORDER CANCELLED! I didn't cancel my order, THEY DID. And there was no reason as to why and no instructions on what I should do or nothing about a refund. I went to Lihue Costco for help. They were helpful but they were dealing with affiliates on the phone. I wasted 30 plus minutes there and left with nothing resolved. I later had a mainland Costco person call me. I demanded some sort of compensation for my wasted time and the hassle. She put me on hold for a long time and then the call was lost. She called back a few minutes later. She told me her supervisor gave me two options. 1) wait for the dryer to be in stock (they cancelled my order because the dryer wasnt in stock!!!) and when it is they will ship it and AFTER I take the dryer they would talk about compensation! WTF? or 2) cancel my order and RE-ORDER! I said I would NEVER put myself through that again and the first option stank. Sounded like a scam for me to take the dryer and get told to shove off. So I demanded a refund and I'd go elsewhere. I also demanded some kind of written documentation (like an email) to show Costco intended to refund me. I had numerous Costco people on the phone tell me that would happen but none of them EVER sent me anything in writing! WHY? I was told in a few days to a week I'd see the refund in my account at my bank. NEVER HAPPENED! I went back over a week later to Costco and again demanded my money. The manager at Lihue Costco printed me a document showing a refund and told me to check my account again in a few days. So this is where I'm at right now. We will see if it actually happens. They also promised to mail me a $150 gift card. That has not arrived yet either. I am out $780 and had to fork out another $650 to buy ANOTHER dryer elsewhere. read more

Busy Costco with the food (i.e. the $1.50 hot dog) outside. The inside is like many other Costcos - clean, raw (industrial) and very friendly associates. The reason for 5 stars? They sell Poke. The only place on the island where I found prices comparable (if not identical) to that of the mainland. It was Costco, but with an island flair. The only downside is that with only my daughter and I on this trip the sizes were too big for us to get very much. However if you're capable of consuming the bulk, stop here it will make your wallet very happy. read more

Costco is, by far, the BEST place to shop on Kauai!!! Their produce is of the finest quality and is always fresh! Before Costco came to Kauai, we had to deal with poor quality produce that seemed to get even worse before we got it home... I often shop there with friends and we split many of our purchases. Wish I could rate @ zero, or even negative stars. The tires might be a bit cheaper, but the service is not only deceptive, but absolutely unapologetic. Supervisor Darren Nonaka absolutely refused to consider Warranty replacement of my road hazard damaged tire. Although he admitted that the damage did warrant a replacement, the fact that I had attempted to get it plugged by a Certified mechanic -SO I COULD DRIVE IT IN to Costco -voided the Warranty. If it was ruined in the first place-how can I ruin it more? Nor would he allow his shop to fix it. The only remedy offered was to sell me a new tire at full price. His only explanation was "This is Costco Policy" - not even "I'm sorry, this is Costco Policy", and his demeanor was very much "F*** Off!" Needless to say I'll never go back there for tires. Subsequently I took the "fatally damaged/improperly repaired tire to another local tire shop where they happily installed an internal patch for a nominal fee. Back on the road! It's unfortunate in a small community such as this when corporate mentality overrides neighborly common sense and good business practice. read more

I am a big Costco fan so I was stoked to see the one in Lihue. While on vacation we must have stopped almost everyday! With food prices high in Kauai and you will be around for a week it is worth a $55 membership fee of you aren't member yet. The food prices are a bit higher than I was used to in San Diego but you can save some money stocking up on some lunch food so you don't have to eat every meal out. The gas price was also $1.20 cheaper per gallon when we were there. As usual shopping at Costco is a no brainer! As expected there are many Hawaiian inspired items. We made sure to save about 20 lbs worth of room in our luggage for a stop on the way to the airport. Chocolate chocolate chocolate! Of course we had to get one of every variety of chocolate covered macadamia nut. Other cool items were kalua pork and a variety of types of ahi poke. The food court also has all the usual items you expect. It's great to be traveling and be out of your element but we were sure glad to feel at home at Costco! read more

This is the only Costco on Kauai. They have all the items. Kauai has less people so it's less crowded than the ones on Oahu. I mean Costco is Costco, to me what makes one better than the other is how crowded it is. This one ain't that crowded so it's awesome :) read more

First time giving a Costco less than the 5 stars they almost ALWAYS deserve. I had a bad experience with the woman handling returns. She appeared to be older but also very unhappy. She never smiled at me once in the entire time we interacted. PLUS - she acted like I was a thief or terrible person : "you USED ALL OF these?" - I hadn't but I think she was too focused on being unhappy to listen to what I was trying to tell her. I was going to write a blistering review but I am going to give her the benefit of the doubt. Maybe she was having a bad week or a family member had died, etc. Other than that, every other employee in there was very helpful. They was a guy who apparently just comes for the free samples. I wanted to engage in a discussion with him about socialism and that eventually, if Costco gave everything FREE, there would be no more Costco. (no Costco - please don't go). I decided not to engage because I was on vacation... or at least I was trying to get some peace and quiet. STILL LOVE COSTCO, tell you're return lady to smile sometimes ...
