This review is specific to the Costco Optic Department. I recently started using Costco for all my Optic needs and it was the best choice I've ever made. They have an eye doctor right there so you can complete you exam and be able to order your glasses or contacts with no hassle! I have worked with many of the individuals that work behind the eyeglass desk and each one of them have been amazing! Their customer service is next level! I want to give a big shoutout to Charles, he assisted me during my most recent visit and he was a rockstar! I came unprepared and was going to return once I had all my info. He told me to not leave and provided me with the number for the insurance company. I was able to get everything I needed done within 10 minutes after the phone call! I won't go anywhere else for my contact or glasses need! But be sure to get there early cause there is generally a wait. read more

So I scanned in and informed associate that I was going to walk around the outside and she said ok. Then I start walking in to go to tire shop because I bought my tires from Costco and Costco messed up and had my tire pressure 75% lower than it should have been. Wouldn't have know that unless my gauge went off while I was driving down from Sedona. So it was urgent and we could have died. So I'm walking in when an associate starts yelling at me like I killed someone and I was like what and he said I had to leave??? Lucky the manager came up and explained that all their new rules would not allow me in through the exit. So I said okay and went to walk in customer service and the informed me that I was not allowed in the customer service door. That was just retaliation because I informed them I was an executive member and that I needed to have my tires fixed before I could get in my car again.. This is probably the worst Costco in Arizona and that's hard to do since Tucson is to Arizona as Florida is to Florida!!! Remember to go visit this one and say hi to the disrespectful kid Jose who was never taught how to talk to people. So disrespectful. Sorry Jose that you were not raised right or obviously trained by your managers. Including photo. Terrible service from the seemingly "manager" who was standing out front in the blue polo, I asked him a simple question and he responded with attitude as if I wasn't welcome at this establishment. I believe that his selection of tone towards me, who happens to be a young, mixed racial male, to be extremely rude especially because his attitude changed once he saw I was an executive member. Costco is a great place for large families to buy in bulk and in doing so save money. Having said that THIS Costco is an absolute madhouse. You would think they give away free stuff here. If you need a lot of stuff have fun pushing your SUV shopping cart that now weights 50 lbs around this sea of humans. You will wait about an hour for your pizza due to all the people preordering. The long lines cashing out. The long line leaving for someone to check your receipt to make sure you didn't shoplift. The traffic in the parking lot. Long lines to get cheaper gas. Coming to this Costco turns into a 2-3 hour event in shopping Hell. Did I save money buying in bulk? Yes. Is it worth my sanity? No. Almost had a full blow anxiety attack. Generally like the store and what it's all about. Covid section- yes, they require a mask and don't let you in without one. They may provide a mask if you want. Yesterday. A family went in, the mom had a mask, the dad did not . He brazing said, he was just going over to optical and they still gave him a mask. They both promptly took off their mask 20 feet in the doors . Such selfish people. Costco, please have employees remind those who's mask are off or slipped off their noses. It's important to the majority of your members who wear them. If you start caring, maybe this rating goes up. I know you avoid conflict where you can, but you have always handled it pretty good. I was in Costco a couple weeks ago in Mesa Az and I was checking out and your seasonal employee Andrew J. was loading my groceries for me and he asked how my day was, I told him it was ok and he asked if I would like my food in a box and I said yes, he made a joke shortly after that made me laugh a lot after having a rough day. This Costco is like all others I've shopped at in WA, NV, ID, and CA. They provide great customer service and products. However....... Part of Costco is not just the great prices, samples, and people-watching; What you have to deal with navigating the gas, parking, or checkout lines. For better gas and checkout experience, I start early when they open or late both within 45 minutes prior to opening/closing. Parking or walking thru the lots have your head on a swivel and chill attitude. Buckle up buttercup and try to enjoy people-watching, the samples, demos, or cheap and tasty hot dogs, sundaes, or pizza. read more

My wife and I own a business and bought a Costco Business Membership, I still had not made it in there yet to get a card made for myself. Today on 5/30/2021 around 11 am I took my wife's business Costco card and went to the Mesa Costco on Sossaman Road, to buy a dozen filets for our family BBQ on Memorial Day for our veteran friends and family. Needless to say some angry bald headed stocky cashier asked me if me wife was at the store and I said no, because she was organizing a Memorial Day Veterans program at the cemetery, which was why I was nominated to go get the steaks. He then makes some snotty remark about "Oh well, too bad" . Nice way to treat your Veterans on Memorial Day Weekends Costco. Well, guess who's business is now removing their business from Costco and going with another wholesale warehouse company now. What a waste of good money. The place looked like a white trash trailer park had emptied out into their store anyhow. Thanks for nothing Costco, our veteran friends and family just loved our BAR-S hot dogs and Kroger chips since our local Fry's had been cleared out by Sunday afternoon. read more

5 stars based solely off Kathy in the food court. I normally go to the County Club location but our food court is shutdown for a remodel. So we phoned in an order for a whole pepperoni pizza & also got 5 hot dogs with drinks. As soon as I placed my order at the self serve kiosk Kathy called out my number & asked what my name was for my phone in order. She then proceeded to get my drink cups with lids & straws (all organized neatly), she then let me know that my pizza had 5 more minutes but that she was going to get my hot dogs ready. To make things easier for me to carry she placed all 5 wrapped hot dogs in an empty plastic bag (that their buns come in.) Kathy also asked if I would like a small box to help me in carrying 5 full drinks (I've never had a worker at any Costco food court go out of their way like this to help me in prepping to carry out a large order before without being asked beforehand.) Thanks so much Kathy, I've been a Costco member since 1999 & have never encountered anyone as helpful in any Costco food court. Just a side note about this location, it is Snowbird Central & the parking is a bit nutty at times. Also shopping takes a bit longer in the winter due to much slower grocery cart traffic inside (most likely due to half the shoppers being from the Northeast, Midwest, or Canada & them not being used to the store layout & where things are located.) read more

One of the worst costco stores I've visited since holding my own membership. The majority clientele is very obvious and it doesn't help the flow of foot traffic let alone road traffic. That's fine, however, that brings me to my next point- Everyone there, from the members to SOME of the staff are extremely rude! I've been racially slurred there and even had my grandmother insulted during the holiday season in 2023 BY ANOTHER MEMBER (mind you, she's been gone for many years now), so yeah; that left a bad taste in my mouth. Even after reporting it, absolutely nothing because they know members keep coming back for whatever deals or product roadshows they got going on. I also am so amused how inconsistent people are here in behavior, social interactions, and all of the above. One day you can make some deep jokes and the other you get talked to by about five people about the same issue all whilst shopping and trying your best to beat the terrible traffic outside and inside. And the management! You KNOW who knows what they're doing and who is getting flustered. It's VERY obvious. I won't mention any names, for it's not worth my time. Just know that I only will come to this costco out of absolute necessity. Otherwise, I will buckle down and visit another store that's not as dysfunctional as this one. P.S. - newer instacart shoppers don't help this review either. In fact, they make me want to give zero stars. Then again, this costco had nothing really to work with anyway besides the Costco name. Had to stop in at Costco today to have a new nose pad put on my glasses. Way to go, Costco! Trying to get service you have to have cell phone and abilities to do some tricky maneuvering. Normally our experience with Costco has always been positive. Unfortunately today that was not the case. As we attempted to use the self-check out lane the register informed us our membership had expired. This is when a Costco employee, Elaine, approached us and insisted we must renew our membership right there at the register or leave the store. When we asked if we could pay for our groceries and then renew at the front desk her answer was a very rude: "No. Are you going to do it now or not?" We had our 6 month old infant with us and a line of people behind us. So we paid for our membership and groceries in order not to cause a scene. We felt Elaine was unkind and incredibly insensitive during this exchange. In our opinion this could have been handled much better on her part. read more

"Where IS Your Mask?" Was the first thing this young girl said to me as I entered. I thought it was kind of rude. Why should a 20 something year old employee be yelling at a 70 something year old member? Maybe welcome would have been a nice way to start with me. Do you need a mask? It's only 2 pm and she may have had to ask "where is your mask?" Many times that day, but really you want to be rude about it? Go on a break, be happy. We had been to Ross, Walmart, and they had a sign reminding you of the face covering requirements and Ross has a security person welcoming you. Very nice. Instead Costco has a employee who yell at you as you enter "where's your mask?". Now she did have a mask on and did have to speak louder to get thur that Barrier. And was behind the plastic wall. So you can't tell if they smiling or really mad at you. Now I am sure that the employees are not waking up each day and think " hope I get to yell at a member day". But I am seeing the quality of service drop as the plastic and other barriers separate the employees from the members. Also, they do not have products that are basics like A1 sauce. I had start buying it at Sams. Today they had A1, but they did not have Worcestershire sauce, but Sams does. Of coarse there is never anyone to help "it's a warehouse" Usuall every month, they have some good discounted products, but the last 3 months the chocolate items are not as available with 2$ off. This has never been a real friendly warehouse, since it moved from the power location 'to this sosserman location. Must be a different manager. i get the feeling they do not like us old folks, maybe to many of us and they need to remember that if they take care of themselves they will will be older and We just need more chocolate Also, we walked all over the store and saw no notice of the stimp recall, beside the internet, do you post recall items???in the stores? read more

After going to Costco could not believe big cost changes. I spent $450.00 but didn't get all my items. Besides the cots aI was apply the dates that expired. Been a Costco customer for many years. Used to be the closest was down in Mesa then they had one at Power n Souther (Winco now) this one is on Sossoman and the 60. It follows their most recent template and it's a nice big store. They have recently introduced their own Kirkland Lasagna and it comes in a twin pack. My wife and I like it and will definitely buy it again. My biggest complaint is how they manage or rather don't manage the toilet paper during the pandemic. It seems they feel their warehouse quantity and pricing it too important to them than to solve the toilet paper shortage. They could have solved the problem for 4 times as many people (families) if they had just broken out the package into four packages. I can't believe it would have required a lot of effort and they certainly would have sold out. Think about it Costco; You made a bad decision! Thanks Waiting for your response! read more

Costco is great and it always has been! I came here to get a new car battery, and the person helping me was quite friendly. I also like how the keep records of what we've bought with them in the past so that I can just ask them to look up what battery we got before and get the new one that way. I also got a slice of pepperoni pizza which has appears been quite tasty, and they cut a slice into half here which is great! Costco is awesome, lots of people on the weekend though. read more

Really irritating when we are told an hour for our tire swap then 1 hour 45 minutes later you get your car back, just to find that the mechanic got greasy finger smudges on the inside of the driver door. They are cloth! We are trying to call the tire center to complain, and of course they aren't answering the phone. You better hope this comes out. read more

Next day I purchased a new lug nut....the next available appointment..........5 days! Unacceptable. Called Queen Creek Location....took me same day. I had to go to Mesa....pick up tires......drive to Queen Creek....arrived at appointment time....only to be delayed because Mesa Location WOULD NOT refund the Service cost of an install they never did! 4 HOURS later I have four new tires that should have cost less than $1,000. Today 7/4 the store is actually closed. I am glad these essential workers have not closed down one day since Covid came to Arizona to try and shut down not only our state but our country. Costco has been open every day of the week. They have even been opening up an hour earlier so the seniors and disabled have an opportunity to shop at their pace. From the General Manager to the person who literally runs to get you the second pack of muffins or bagels because we forgot to read the sign. Arrogant young lady at door checking on receipts for purchases accused me of not paying for an item. She was unbelievably rude and created an embarassing scene in front of many customers. After I contacted supervisor and proved I had paid for all items she still refused to apologize. Simply screamed at me to stop holding up the line and move on. This woman whose name is Ana should never be allowed to keep this job. I have never been so humiliated and completely frustrated in my life. The usual Costco set up. I still wish Costco would label what's down each aisle instead of having frustrated customers wielding their way through the store trying to find where they thought they found something last time, only to find it's no longer there and the search must begin anew. We were mostly shopping for cleaning products, laundry products, paper products, and a few food items. Disappointed there weren't many samplings going on. I like to try new things and if they're tasty, I usually end up buying them. Today the only thing we sampled was a shredded beef burrito and it was rather so so. Checking out today was a breeze, even though the parking lot was full. It didn't seem like there were that many people in the store, or at least checking out at the time we checked out, so that was a nice plus for our day. We also stopped to get a wonderful Costco hotdog for lunch. They are a tasty treat! Parking at Costco is always a challenge with the way people zip in and out of the aisles. So it behooves you to pay very close attention when you're in the Costco parking lot, particularly if you're heading back to your car with your loaded cart. read more

Today I purchased a package of Del Real Pork Tamales and one Tuxedo Chocolate Mousse. BOTH were absolutely gross. The tamale (masa) was more like an uncooked dough texture and the cake was like chewing a gooey clay. Both were horendous and Costco needs to remove those items from their shelves. NASTY and GROSS. I've being going to Costco ever since it open its doors. I find a lot of great savings. With that stated, you best know your pricing as well. On the really great deals if you're a single person such as myself, you may end up with more then you need, however with rising prices, I'd grab what you can get. Especially after reading that the US has then 25 days of diesel available which could impact our economy. But staples is probably your best beat. Soaps like dove by the 3 pack is a fantastic savings. Just don't get caught in the goody section (fat foods) or you'll be forced to buy more then you need and for someone like me who had a sweet tooth, do you really think I'm going to go at it Little buy little? Oh heck no, so I usually pass this area up. All in all there are some great buys, but seriously check your pricing. read more

Do not buy your Thanksgiving pies from this place. We bought an apple pie and a pumpkin pie last year. I found out why they're so cheap. They were terrible. The apple pie tasted like it was six months old and the pumpkin pie tasted like pumpkin spice dog food. Absolutely the worst pies I've ever had in my life. I'm a big fan of anything else from Costco. RACIALLY PROFILED DUE TO MY RACE. As I stood in line to exit I noticed the check out employee swiping everyone in front me receipts quickly (some with a lot of items some with a few). When it came to me I had 10 items he (white man with his tongue partially hanging out his mouth) he took my receipt and scrutinized my cart. I don't know what he was actually doing because my receipt indicated 12 items (my Caucasian girlfriend had my 2 storage containers on her cart which he did not know we were together). He acted like was counting the items taking easily 50-60 seconds to count 10 items looking all over my cart, he NEVER asked once about the MISSING 2 huge black bins that were not on my cart. My Caucasian girlfriend walks to him with 8 items (she had 10 in her cart MY black storage bins) he takes her receipt gave it a big Costco line through the receipt and NEVER counted her items NEVER asked WHY she had 2 extra bins not one word. As an African American in this country this is how we are treated daily. If I would have had my friends cart I would have been stopped for stealing by this white man checking receipts, not really counting items who obviously can't count to 8 or 10 YET took his time to scrutinize my basket. Costco is Costco. Pretty standard everywhere. It doesn't matter if you stop in on a Monday evening, a Wednesday afternoon or a weekend day, it's crowded and parking sucks. They don't have many sample stations set up during the weekday. Maybe that's typically of all Costco ... not sure. read more
