I went to Mad B's today with a quilt block I've been working on and trying to decide what fabric to use for the border and binding. I want to give a shout out to Amber who actually greeted me when I came in and asked if she could help. She immediately was able to look at my block and pull a few fabrics that were perfect! She definitely has an eye for color. I am so appreciative of her great suggestions. I bought fabric for the binding, but after I got home I realized that her suggestion for a double border was spot on! Have been coming here for the last year and half. They are wonderful. Just ok another kimberbell embroidery class with Madonna. It was great. I came to this quilt shop because it came recommended by my quilting guild, fully expecting a professional quilting job on my queen quilt. What I got was far from it! When I picked up my quilt from the shop I was told that they had to "pick out" (remove) some of the quilting threads because their machine malfunctioned due to the fact that the thread on the top side and the bobbin thread were two different weights (40 & 50), something that the quilter should have checked before starting. As a result the backing of my quilt was shredded in the process of picking out the thread and requilting it. In addition they managed to pop one of the seams because they had the material stretched too tight which also caused the salvages to become uneven. If you value your work DO NOT go near this place. read more

Mad B's has been a wonderful place for me and a couple of friends to learn to quilt. This was my mother's favorite shop - I'd go there for every gift giving occasion to buy gift cards for my mom for years. After she died, and I decided I wanted to learn, this was where I went, because I knew she trusted them, and the ladies had been so nice over the years. Every single person that works there is friendly, knowledgeable, and personable. MaDonna (owner) is not only a gifted instructor, she has also built an extraordinary community. At my first Finish it Friday, I was a little intimidated walking in, but was immediately welcomed. Several women came up to introduce themselves and chat. I love that MaDonna doesn't just treat it as an open sew, come and go - about halfway through each one, she has everyone introduce themselves, share something about themselves, and welcomes new faces. It has also helped me heal from losing my mom. It's been nice to be around people who knew her, were fond of her, and remember her outside the context of grief. There truly is something for everyone. From the wide selection of fabrics, notions, patterns, and tools, to classes for all skill levels, to weekly events, and clubs, that is one hive that is constantly buzzing! This is by far my favorite quilting store! I love the feeling I get when I walk thru the door. So many samples that inspire me. Good quality fabric, tools galore, books, patterns and wonderful classes to choose from. The retreats are the best! I just attend one and can't wait for the next. Madonna and her crew are so helpful and knowledgeable. If one can't answer your question they find the one who can. Of the many groups you can join I highly recommend Bee a Ten. A good little place for fabric and quilting, but DO NOT take your machine there. $236.00 and four months later, my machine came back not working right and the back was broken off. The owner was nice and offered to make it right, but the damage had already been done and it was obvious that their repair shop is lacking. I am sorry I ever took my machine there. read more

This was my first time going to this store. I needed some material to make a binding for a quilt. I had brought my quilt top in so I would be able to find something that would compliment it. When I told the first employee I met what I needed she walked over to a area of material and pulled one out and said here this will work. I then told her I wanted to walk around and look so I would be able to pick the best option. It wasn't even close to what she said would work. Then she asked how much I needed? As I was looking up what I needed she told me about a app that fingured out how much I needed. So she put in the diminsions and told me how much I needed. When I got home and made the binding it was double of what I really needed. Then I asked for some thread that would match. Again instead of showing me options she picked out some thread and said here. It looked like one of the biggest spools they had. Since I only needed enough to bind the quilt I asked her if they sold smaller spools. She then told me no and I could always use it on other projects. Well I guess I could if I made another quilt using the same colors. After I paid for everything I decided to look around since it was my first time at this store. Lo and behold there was other good quailty quilting thread in another area that was in smaller spools. I'm not sure if I will ever return to this store. read more

MaDonna has a wonderful quilt shop. The workers are all friendly and helpful. MaDonna greets me by name when I come to shop or take a class. I had a class a few days ago and she held the class even though I was the only one who came. I have been to other stores where classes are canceled if there aren't enough students. Today I took another class and we didn't get the bag done so she offered to let us come tomorrow for help in finishing the bag. This is a great shop with wonderful people. read more
