I've gone to this place for years now and I have always been satisfied with their service. I do always end up getting a different optometrist every year, but they always do a good job of meeting my vision needs and keeping my eyes healthy. They have a wide selection of frames for eyeglasses and they have a variety of brands as well. I always get my contacts here because they are always cheaper here when I use my Costco membership which is the main reason why I always choose to go to this place because the value of their products and services is great. read more

Updating previous eye exam experience: I got an exam from a different DOO and they discovered I have glaucoma. The doc here never mentioned that, and it looks like my exams really weren't as thorough as I assumed. read more

We love seeing Dr. Redilla. She has been so helpful in navigating the changing needs of my eyes as I age. Sometimes it's hard to decide what type of correction is the best fit for your eyes and life, but her experience helps me make good decisions. I learned that the space that sells the glasses are different than the one that does the eye exam. In the past I've only purchase their glasses. This visit was with the Optometrist (Village Vision Care), and it comes as a mixed experience for me. I liked the doctor, she was helpful and answered questions. She seemed to really care about my needs/history, tried to answer questions and offer relevant advice. I did find interesting that our tests were different here than other optometry offices, so not sure if we didn't get something we should have because normally other doctors dilate our eyes . We didn't get scripts printed for our visits like we normally would, and didn't think to ask for it until I left. The front desk staff was another story all together compared to the optometrist, they were too busy being on their personal phones to be bothered. The actual interactions were cold and it seemed like we interrupted their personal social media time or something. Pretty rude overall. I called to ask for them to email me my info and was told it's a HIPAA issue and can't send ME my info. Working in healthcare care for years, this was news to me - patients are always allowed their own information. We may come back next year, and by then hopefully the front staff will have turned over. They need people here, certainly not costco standard and it shouldn't be the standard here either. So if it weren't for the doctor being nice, this would have been a 1 Star or less review. read more

Came in a little early to give my insurance information, and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Super quick check in. They cleaned all the equipment/chairs before I used anything. They explained all the things I had to do and I felt like my exam was thorough. Very happy and please with both exam and staff. Highly recommend. read more

Charitably, COVID's making everything more difficult, but I don't think that caused the lack of service. At one point I was the only one looking at frames, there were five employees on duty, and I could not get anyone's attention to place an order; they were all entertaining questions from walk-ups at the outside counter. There was one employee sterilizing frames, but she pretended I wasn't there, despite making eye contact with her and asking for help with a fairly loud "excuse me, Miss?". This was the second time I've given up trying to buy eyeglasses at the Brighton, Michigan store. I suppose if you know exactly what you want and you're persistent you could manage to place an order here, but if you have any questions, forget it. read more

Aside from being a professional, Dr Nguyen ( Wen), has that can of a smile that makes our visits a nice experience. Her knowledge and high tech equipment gives my family the best exam we can have in the region. Family members that come to visit from Spain, Venezuela and Switzerland take the opportunity to set up appointments to get Dr Wen's exam before they go back home. We just feel like we are with a friend that will give us professional advice during those few minutes. read more

By far the worst pair of glasses i have ever owned, frame turned green where it touches skin, lens popped out twice, same side and the coating is separating from lens causing foggy view. Glasses are two years old, stopped at Brighton MI store to have them looked at and was less than impressed with staff response. Said the glasses got to hot and caused issue, hard to believe because there on my head so I can see. There where almost $400 and darken when exposed to sunlight. Would have given no stars id I could. This review is for the ladies working for Costco in the optical Dept. I get my eye exam in Madison Heights but live in Royal Oak. I can't seem to get anyone to help me there, so I drive out to Haggerty. I am most pleased. A pretty, young blond greeted me warmly, and showed me several styles. As I selected several frames, I asked both ladies working at the time for their opinions. Most sincere, most helpful. Alex finished the sale, informing me all the while of my options. I can only speak on my experience of the female doctor, but wow did she made me and my wife feel stupid for even being there. She rushed the entire appointment, and when i had questions she'd respond with an audible sigh. My favorite was when she called me into the room and I asked "Can my wife wait in the room too?" Her reply of "uhhhh, if she wants to stand???" kind of the set the mood. I dont expect much, but something Dr. Stein would have done is offerd a chair? made her feel welcome? The staff in the front were informing me that they get annoyed because the other doctor 'takes too long talking to paitents, and claimed "at this rate we wont get out at 6! and then asked eachother "Can we leave with paitents here? i want to go!" You'd think that they'd understand having to wait until the paitents leave, until they can leave- guess not. The doctor wouldn't explain any of the tests that were being until until I asked, at which point she'd rush and say 'glaucoma test!' Never gave me a response if i did good or bad?? Lastly when I asked for a sample of daily's she said they have to be ordered, people dont usually get those... when i left i was told nothing about when i could pick them up? or how many I'd get? After calling back in and hearing her scream her answer to the receptionist i told them "its ok, i can hear her- im all set." All in all, Costco is known for service, this place seems to be known for rushing through paitents ever since village vision took over. I reccomend you go elsewhere, as this isn't even the cheapest place in town? Why put up with this? read more

The technician was very pleasant while performing her preliminary eye tests. The doctor, Dr. Nguyen, was very professional and extremely thorough. Dr Watson was friendly and efficient. I was able to make an appointment easily and was seen on time. The frame selection is not very large, but I found frames I like. My insurance through St Mary's hospital covered everthing 100% (progressive, transitional, anti-glare). I like the convenience of being able to get new frame pads (free) or adjustment. Costco is also great with their warranty if the frame is defective. read more

The doctor was on time, performed a number of test and very thoroughly explained the results and next steps I should take. This was the most professional eye exam I have had in many years. I let my Costco membership lapse for a while but needed new eyeglasses so I renewed. I have heard they have great prices and we have no optical insurance. The problem is the staff who are never at the optical counter. I have been in there THREE TIMES and I finally asked the person who was running the photo center and she pointed to the door and said "there she is over there chatting with another associate". Seriously?? Sorry, Costco. Find better people to work the optical counter. I will not be renewing my membership again. read more

If you're looking for a combative optometrist that doesn't listen to the patient, then this is your place. I have presbyopia and have what I term prescription reading glasses that I use for reading small print and looking at computer. What I hate is that when I take them off, things are blurry for a bit until my eyes can re-focus. My distance vision is 20/20 without glasses. I went in for my eye exam explaining I wanted a pair of progressive glasses so that I didn't have to see the world magnified when I didn't need to look at upclose objects. The optometrist tested me for distance and reading and said that my prescription was accurate and necessary for distance, and that in a couple of years, I will need a bifocal prescription for seeing things up-close. This blew my mind and confused me. I told her I only use the glasses to see things up close. For driving, watching tv, just general interacting with the world I'm find and don't need glasses. I said I wanted a progressive prescription for reading glasses, and she said I could still do that but my everyday viewing (distance) would still be magnified at +2.5 in left and +3 in right because that is what the computer said I needed and if I wanted to add reading glasses to that prescription that would add an extra magnification of +1.5 in each eye. This again, blew my mind. I asked her retest my vision for 20/20. It tested 20/20 without glasses. She then got argumentative and said that she tested me for distance and near in the machine and I was the one answering the questions, she wasn't putting words in my mouth. She said if I wasn't happy the prescription, don't get it filled, stick with what you have and only where them when you need them. Totally frustrated, I left upset beyond belief. Maybe other Costco's are better, but this one left a lot to be desired. They use village optical at this location. read more

The new Village Optometry or whatever they're called is a huge disappointment. Had been seeing Dr. Stein before this new one and never had a complaint. This new one though....terrible! Had an eye infection and the receptionist asked the Dr if she would take me in as an unscheduled appt. She stood next to me speaking with the receptionist and wouldn't even turn her head to look at me! She said no she had appointments for eyeglasses scheduled. I have never felt so dismissed in my life. She had not an ounce of patient concern, care, or compassion. She could have at least had the courtesy to tell me face to face that she was too busy. Or taken a glance to say I really needed to do was go to a real Dr. that is an M.D., which is what I ended up doing. read more

Not a good experience at Costco Eye Center. I had been going to another optometrist at another Costco for years. When he retired I decided to try out the doctors at this Costco. I was told I had an astigmatism which I have never been told I have before. They wrote me a prescription for glasses and contacts and both were so off. I was told to just let my eyes adjust but I couldn't even last 5 minutes without feeling super dizzy and having an excruciating headache. I have been back there to have my prescription changed a few times and even the lenses in my glasses replaced and it's still so far off. I have been wearing contacts for 12 years and glasses for 20 and I have never experienced a problem like this. The people working behind the optical desk were friendly but the doctors and receptionist in the office didn't seem to know what they were doing. read more
