My script for controlled medication(ADHD meds) was called in on a Friday...I didn't hear anything…read moreabout the script being filled for several days... finally on the next Thursday I had a chance to call them...they said it 'was a different pharmacist that worked that Friday and they weren't sure why it wasn't filled...they said they would have it filled by the next day. With controlled substances, the script is only good for one week, then you have to go back to doctor and have them resubmit the script....so had I not pushed through my mental disorder, harder than it seems, I would have had to start the whole process over again; leaving messages with doctor, waiting for their response then calling the pharmacy and cosplaying as the manager...which I essentially already had to do the first time. Mental health is difficult enough to manage, having to manage the pharmacy to do their job is exceedingly overwhelming. I did inform them I would not be back, as this is already strike two. Please do your job. You are here to help patients get through their lives and you're making it worse.

She not only attended to our medical needs but took us to appointments, food shopping, and social events. Alohi kept our home clean and running smoothly. Her medical training was easily noticed and it made trusting her automatic. She is open to her clients and 2-way communication is always simple. Back in 2009 My grandfather received care in his home and the nurses were professional and highly knowledgeable. We built great relationships with them during the duration. They were available when we needed to reach them and would respond fast. My grandmother appreciated their help and support too. They called every year a month or so before my grandfathers passing anniversary to let me know that they have additional support services if I needed to take advantage of that. My next experience with Hospice was back in 2015 my step father was passing. Because I couldn't accommodate his needs in my home he went to the Nakamaru House. Again, a great experience. Very compassionate with care. They took time to know him, converse with him. He knew things about the nurses too. The lady of the house even went out of her way to get him what he wanted to eat. Prosciutto and Apples. Overall Hospice has been nothing but respectful and understanding during these emotional challenging times and they were sensitive and respectful. When people think of hospice, they automatically think of death. Well- educate yourself with their services provided. They also do palliative care. Great thing about it is you don't need to drive anywhere for anything. They picked up prescriptions etc. Even had volunteers come into the homes to help with things that my grandmother couldn't do on her own. I couldn't have been so thankful knowing that my grandfather and stepfather for their last few days were in great hands.

I was impressed at how the religious aspects were presented as a choice, not a mandate. My advice to other families would be to be completely open with these professionals and then to trust their experience and let them do their jobs. I was more guarded than I should have been with my own feelings about end of life expectations, which lead to a bit of miscommunication. Beautiful, clean facility, but I was a bit hesitant about navigating the dark, private roads at night, so practice the route during the daytime to gain confidence. Parking is limited and under a prolific fruit tree, so be prepared to wash your car regularly to prevent damage to the paint.

I have had orthopedic surgery here, been treated in the E.R. and another time had an extended stay…read moredue to a toxic response to a medication. I thought my care was excellent. Many of the RNs are traveling and maybe only here for a few months. So I felt the care was very well-rounded since they bring their skills, experience and expertise from other hospitals around the country. I also felt the full-time long-term providers were excellent. The food is exceptional and plant based options are always available. My wait in the ER was never more than 35 minutes, except when coming in by ambulance. In those cases, no wait at all. The facilities are dated in some ways, but not so when it comes to equipment - X-ray, MRIs, etc , all in good condition. I had 2 MRIs there actually. Went well.

My brother was recently admitted to this facility. He was diagnosed last week with pancreatic…read morecancer . His blood pressure upon admission was 80/42. He was severely dehydrated. He was there 4 days getting IV hydration . Doctor response took a long time . We asked if someone was assisting him walk around the hall to keep his strength up . The staff said yes , he said no . Staff said he just did not remember . We have access to his chart . No notes about walking . We asked several times for someone to assist him to shower. 4 days no shower . His B/P improved and he was able to be discharged. 4 days in bed only assistance was to bathroom. No physical activity, no shower , nothing . Unfortunately they are the only show in town . If they paid our local nurses what they pay traveling nurses to fill in we might have a well staffed caring facility. His diet was not conducive to his difficulty with digestion. It seems there was no continuity of care . The oncologist could not take the time to come see him while he was there . That would be to convenient. He will have to come back up to same location next week for oncology consult . No patient advocate came in as we requested . The social worker came in and asked what he wanted to do without checking with the family or making sure there was care giving set up prior to discharge ! He lives alone . Just diagnosed with stage 4 cancer . We count on the "care givers" to coordinate and recommend the "next step" nothing . Luckily he has family to help . We have never been down this road . We needed information as well . As much as we asked we got nothing . We called hospice . We got the appointment for him next week . We got transportation arranged . We researched care needed . Diet conducive to his diagnosis. Lucky he has our mom and strong sisters !!! We really feel we are on our own . You are your own advocate. Unfortunately he does not know the questions to ask or really what he has or what to expect . He is not a druggy or street person . He is an adult that needs good medical care .

Dr Derieg and her staff are amazing and kind always go above and beyond to help us with…read moreappointments and advice when needed always smiling and love our kids like ohana we won't go anywhere else my kids have the best care she takes her time each appt to listen to me or the kids concerns and she's not in a hurry to always give meds which we love but she's on top of everything when they do need them! she is such a kind person makes the kids so comfortable and feel safe explains everything so they understand and always give a sticker at the end! We love it here and the office is always completely clean and sanitized which we love! Thank you Dr Derige and staff for all you do for our Ohana!!!

I had…read moregotten some great advice about Dr. Derieg & Dr. Laird but they too did not like the staff/receptionists because of their bad attitude. I too received the same bad attitude when I called one morning trying desperately to get my son an appointment. Their policy is if you do not show for your first appt. they will no longer help you, but the bad part is that they don't give any courtesy/reminder calls to let you know that you have an appt. coming up, they also never informed me of their "no show policy". I believe that the nurses/receptionists are the first impressions on the company and this was not a great first impression. They need to get more informative and friendly staff.
