It's only been open for days and the lines are already wrapping around the corner. Johnson drive has some bottle neck as it is a road way parallel to the high way. The traffic is insane. Parking is hard. Mila already hosted tasting with Uncle Roger here - a perfect place for celebrity sighting. My friend thinks this place offers better Asian American options. And uncle roger's appearance only got young people more excited. I saw families arriving in big vans to visit the Grand Opening Month - now. This place has good alcohol selections, fancy drinks (pleasanton worthy). There's an outrageous Bordeaux tasting kit and priced insanely but impressive to look at. Overall busy, lots of staff, lots of products, your typical costco with some grand opening excitement. I will oscillate between here and Livermore. I like both. But new is definitely exciting. Had to check out the newest Costco in the Bay Area. There are charging stations in the parking lot, so def a plus. Layout was nice as they def stacked the items that you are probably going to buy in the front of the store. I like going up and down each aisle and didn't find any products unique to this store. read more

This Costco is brand new, it opened a couple weeks ago so it got a lot of foot traffic to see if there was anything fun and unique. The Costco is a good size and has a lot a similar layout to the Richmond Costco which is the Costco I regularly go to. They do have a wider selection of prepared foods in their meats section, including a whole aisle for sushi (rolls, nigiri and sashimi) which looked pretty legit. I will say their parking lot looks smaller than some of the regional Costcos. I drive an EV, so I was pleasantly surpised there are EV chargers there, that's the first time I've seen EV chargers at a Costco. They have a gas station which is also pretty busy. The time I went was just after Thanksgiving and it was unusually busier than most Costcos, I wonder if that'll stabilize if people don't go out of their way to check out this Costco over ones that are more convienently located. read more

Finally had a chance to stop by the newly build Costco and overall pretty impressed. Starting off, the parking lot seems to be the same size as the one in Danville, might do a quick once around down the line if it gets busy and I have to drive around looking for a parking spot to actually get a feel how big it is. What I do love is they have a more expanded handicap parking area and even charging area for the electric cars. Entrance is similar to Livermore's and the the overall layout is pretty nice. I know it's new but honestly was kinda of surprised to see how many pallets on the sale floor. But overall wasn't too bad and with the seemingly expanded and bigger sales floor they do have a decent amount of stuff I've never seen in Danville. Since it's a tad closer, I might try to stop by more often and explore more of it. read more

The Pleasanton Costco had its grand opening this week. It drew a big crowd. Finding a parking spot was challenging. This location carries items I've not seen at the San Leandro, Hayward and Milpitas locations which are more conveniently located for me. The novel items are an interesting draw. This review is for their optical department. I've always received good service. I ordered 2 pairs of glasses online. I ended up sitting on them so the frames on them don't stay on any more. I contacted their customer care online & they said to email them bc they couldn't swap the lenses with the frames. I went back to the store & explained what happened and they're replacing the frames for free. I've had these glasses for less than a year so I'm happy I won't have to buy more glasses, especially since my vision changes often. I'll report back once my replacement frames are in. I'll be sure to take better care of my glasses as well. Costco has always had really great customer service. read more

I've been a member at Costco for 30 years, and in that time never experienced poor customer service. A worker was blocking part of the aisle and talking with another employee. My husband and proceeded to walk around him and he makes a sarcastic remark "I guess I can take a break now". Looking straight at us, like can you guys walk faster!! Such a RUDE comment. He whole-heartedly helped me fixed my glasses when I thought there was no chance of saving it and that I would have gone back to college, struggling since I had no time. I visited Costco with a Costco Shop gift card I received as a gift. I don't have a membership, so I checked with the membership services desk when I arrived to confirm I could use the gift card without one. They assured me that I could. At checkout, the cashier (QuiHong) didn't know how to process the gift card and called over a supervisor. I didn't catch her name, but she was a middle-aged Asian woman. What happened next was outrageous. She yelled at me in front of everyone in line: "You can't pay if you don't have a membership!" I explained that I had already confirmed with customer service that I could. She demanded a physical membership card, and I showed her the digital version as per the instructions. Then she yelled again, "How are you going to pay?" I said credit card. She snapped, "No! No membership means no credit card." Apparently, I could only use debit or cash--but she made no effort to explain that upfront. Just repeated yelling, condescension, and public humiliation. The entire experience was embarrassing, unprofessional, and completely avoidable if she had just calmly explained the policy. I've never been treated this poorly by a customer service employee anywhere. Costco, you need to train your staff on both your policies and basic human decency. read more

There's no safety issue having my heater on when I have a disability I cannot be in the cold. Still on her phone... she's supposed to be working, and isn't it a safety issue to be on your phone around the pumps? Costco needs to vet their employees because she did not even look professional ....until I saw her badge I didn't know she worked there. This Costco is USUALLY a good experience‼ I say "usually" because the last 2 times we have gone, it has not been! We were severely and unnecessarily delayed by employee George at the exit both times. We approach the exit the first time...One line has 1 cart being checked, the other has 3 in line. Naturally, we go to the shorter receipt check line...That was a mistake‼ The longer line is through the exit before we move forward ONE cart! When we finally hand our receipts to George we quickly ascertain why... With an immediate attitude of suspicion he peruses the receipts and rifles through the PREVIOUSLY neatly-packed cart to check and count every item...one by one. Soon enough, he cannot figure out an item printed on the receipt and he suddenly demands we find the item ourselves and show him! Other carts whiz by the other line in which the receipt checker does a quick count and scan of each cart. Then, the second time we ended up in George's line it felt like we were on Punk'd...It was even longer of a delay that time...to the point where I was late to an extremely important appointment‼ I hope this issue gets resolved soon. The pizza at this Costco is good and it has good variety of products. The samples are always fun. It is clean and has the new muffins. read more

I would understand if it was a self checkout.. like come on I go to Danville and they only check the most expensive stuff and just glance at your cart. They're kind, understanding, and always willing to help. Another 5/5 for them! However, my experience with Costco Optical is what brought my rating down by 2 stars. The young woman working there was incredibly rude. I asked a simple question and was met with a condescending "I don't know" and an eye roll. Rather than making any effort to assist me, she responded with a dismissive attitude and told me I should take my question back to Optometry because she didn't know. If you don't want to be there, then don't be there. Working with the public requires at least a basic level of courtesy - she showed none. To be clear, it wasn't busy. I visited well before closing and was one of only two people in the area; the other person was just browsing. There was no excuse for the lack of professionalism or the negative attitude. We took a late evening shopping after dinner with friends. We were not the last people out, but first the cashier told us she could scan everything in the cart without taking them out. We were ok about that until I told her that I was going to grab some boxes. She at first said the store didn't encourage them to box stuff for clients. I pointed over the corner and said I would only need to grab a few boxes from that pile. She let me grab a few. Then when we were trying to load the stuff to the car. There was a long hair with bond highlight, short built woman told us to hurry and leave. We were already in the parking lot and we were not in any line or congested any cars or anyone. I recently checked out the new Costco because they had a meet and greet with Uncle Roger. I'm giving this Costco three stars because the experience was absolutely terrible. There was no crowd control or planning in terms of how everyone would line up or making sure no one cut in line. I think if there is an event like this where you're promising a meet and greet, there should be better management and crowd control. I'm also not sure if it was the event that day or because this is a new Costco, but the store itself seemed to could have used more staff. The lines were really long and it seemed like they were overwhelmed. I'm assuming it's just because they were new. The only upside to this Costco versus the Livermore Costco is that there is much better parking. You could find a spot pretty easily, which is a huge difference from the Livermore one. read more

This place is terrible! I went on a weekday around 2pm and there are just herds of workers just standing around not doing ANYTHING. There were 2 registers open with no one helping load the carts and even when I asked if someone could please load my cart using the boxes like a normal Costco does the guy says sure and then DIDN'T DO IT, I was holding my baby so my hands were full so I don't know how this guy thought I was gonna do it and he just kept scanning and putting it in the cart. I had to yell at the group of 6 PEOPLE standing by the checkout just bull$&@$&@ around to help put my stuff into boxes. And then they had to unload and reload my cart but they were blocking the check out and the guy just chest checking other people out and they are all trying to get around my cart so it was just a cluster. Then walking out to my car I see the carts stalls in the parking lot were so full they were blocking traffic and there were 4 cart guys all just standing around the carts not moving them or anything. Just the most dysfunctional horrible Costco I have ever been to! read more
