Yep, I'm reviewing Costco. why? Because I just came from dinner at my brother's house. You know, the dinner that was planned just hours before we all sat down after a busy day. The dinner he said "Just bring a salad and some dessert.", and I actually listened for once. The dinner where I arrived to find that we had both picked up salad fixings...and they matched. Because though we both have three person households, we both also have memberships to Costco. I know very few people on this island who do not have a membership to Costco. Most of the food I eat comes from Costco. When everyone you know shops in one store, party planning becomes...different. My friends and I no longer plan potluck. We know what will be brought, so we simply specify who should pick up which one thing. Better that way, as there is a smaller chance that there will be repeats. It is one thing to have 5 pounds of pasta that you might have had plans to use. Very few people need a full 10 pounds. I'm pretty sure that no one needs that much pasta. At the end of the meal, my brother begged me to take home the unopened Spring Mix and the tomatoes and the mini peppers that also had twins at his house. I refused to take the chocolate haupia pie, but was stuck with the pineapple upside down cake. It is possible that I did not argue as much as I might have. read more

Costco is my favorite store, grocery, auto shop, and gas station. They are the Best! They pay their staff a fair wage which makes them happy to be there which equals happy staff. I love their wide selection of great name brands of just about anything. I usually walk into Costco looking for one thing then I have cart full by the time I leave. I love their great selection of fresh fruits and vegetables. I never go to a regular grocery store and get excited about cooking dinner but I certainly do when I go to Costco. They have things that make my culinary mind go into overdrive and that usually equals two super happy kids and an equally happy wife after dinner and instagram worthy dinner photos. Their tire department is the best offering the best tire service (100% nitrogen fills) and the cheapest prices. Their gas station is 20+ cents/gallon cheaper then the competition. I even find their clothes to be very well made and a great deal. Its usually the only place I will buy socks and underwear as they always have great deals on both. I am an executive member and I get 2% cash back on everything I buy for $110/ year membership fee. I usually get more then that back each year so my membership is free. I am also a Costco credit card user which gets me 4% back on gas, 3% on travel and restuarants, 2% on any purchases in Costco, and 1% everywhere else. To me, there is no drawback from being a happy Costco member! read more

We went to Costco Waipio today to find the line to get in went all the way to the back of the building. Costco employees were very well organized and kept everything under control. The line moved swiftly outside and even at the register's. Employees were very friendly and helpful. They even had a police officer on duty at the front entrance to oversee the operation. Some of their employees are so fucking annoying. Like the first time I went here, I couldn't buy anything because I was using my brother's membership card. My brother was even with me on that day but the cashier told me, "its not the same". But then other customers are using their relatives/friend's membership cards and they still got to pay for their stuff. Another time I came here I was with my dog who's not a service animal. Now I thought animals were allowed because there were pets being brought into the warehouse who aren't even service animals. But the lady at the entrance told me my dog wasn't allowed, and yet I see a person with two small dogs who got passed her. Can y'all just make up your minds like is it fucking allowed or not? read more

Now I've had two problems wit Costco before one was resolved and the other NEVER WAS A THEY NEVER EVEN APOLOGIZED TO ME. But an awesome person did help me (flowers they weren't ready the day I had put in the order for them to be) I still hold it against Costco but a nice man did help that time. This one was a less big thing but nontheless... I had bought a 18 pack kimchi bowl The top where the label was said 6.79 long story short NOWHERE SAID 14.99 apparently they had the label for what was in a wrong area. Pretty messed up because I said 14.99 before going to far from register told the cashier she said are you sure? The price should be above the item.. (YES I KNOW) Yes I'm sure. She Tells the guy to go look He comes back and says yes but sorry that's for the chicken saimin.. All I said was okay since we had to leave. I come to the waipio location pretty frequently and normally have a decent experience but today, July 30th 2017, was probably the most unprofessional interaction that I've ever had. Around 1030a our total came out to $73 and my boyfriend told the cashier that he wanted to do $40 cash and handed her a $100 bill and had planned to put the rest on my card. Instead of acknowledging our simple request she pressed cash and gave my boyfriend $26 change. The reason being that the cashier, Yvette, was too busy fiddling with her lip balm in her hand and the conversation she was having with her partner seemed to be THAT much more important. What ticked me off more was that she blamed US saying that we should have told her prior and after telling her that she was too busy talking to her partner she didn't even have the courtesy to apologize. Instead she kept saying she could do the transaction again. I'm sorry, but I don't have time to fix a mistake that should have never happened. Next time Yvette, maybe you should take into consideration that as paying customers and a customer service manager and cashier we aren't as "young and dumb" as you think we are. read more

Ever since I moved out to this side of the island over 10 years ago, I have been shopping at this Costco location. Located off of Ka Uka Blvd, it is centrally located for those living in the surrounding cities of Wahiawa, Mililani, Waikele, Waipahu and Pearl City. Just like the all the other Costcos, this location has all the similar items that one is shopping for. Costco Waipio also has a gas station, tire center and food court for its patrons. There is ample parking that can handle all of its customers. However, during peak times just like any other Costco, parking can be difficult. Another challenge would be getting back onto H-2 going North. Due to it's location the overpass leading to the on ramp does get backed up. Lastly, I noticed that the configuration of the products located at the front of the store near the registers is set up in a way that screws up the lines for each register. Before, they had the aisles running parallel with the registers which would allow lines to stretch straight back. With this new configuration, the lines when busy are blocking all of the products that face the registers as well as create a spaghetti bowl of shoppers trying to check out. So if you are willing to deal with all of that and shop in bulk for great prices, Costco is the place to shop. read more

I'm not big on buying items in bulk (mainly fresh produce), but shopping at Costco can help you save a bit depending on the item. Being a Costco member can also have its perks like discounted prices on rental cars. Just like the other Costco locations I've been too, close parking can be hard to find and the lines to the cashier will be crazy long without fail. I'm also not a big fan of only being able to use a VISA card. With the amount I usually spend here in one visit, I'd prefer to use my Hawaiian Miles credit card, which unfortunately happens to be a MC. read more

For all Costco, glad your all over. Your the first location we came to because your closer one to us on the Leeward area. There is one in Kapolei too. This was a quick errand to take care off (photo area) then to the quick pick up protein for my Boi and carbs for us. Line and check out went quick and we were out the door. This was the worst Costco on the island I've been to. Very poor customer service!!! First off I live in town and made a long trip out to Waipio because the Hawaii Kai and Iwilei stores were sold out of the couch I was looking for. I called ahead to see if they had the couch and the girl said they have 2 in stock with 2 more on the way. Great! So I made the trip out there to only find out that it isn't there. I spoke to a supervisor or manager (I don't know what he was) and he confirmed that they have 2 but he couldn't find it anywhere. He then asked me to wait 15 mins while he checks the back for it. After he came back, he told me again that he couldn't find it. WTF!? It shows on their computer that they have it in inventory but they can't find it?? I then told him that I don't want to make another long trip out there again so if I could pay for it and have them deliver it to my place seeing that it wasn't my fault that they couldn't find the couch. He blatantly told me "NO" and that "These things happen all the time". That was the weakest answer ever to a customer. I drove all the way from town thinking they had a product which they confirmed they have. I will never shop at this Costco again. If I could I would give them 0 stars. read more

I would like to commend the workers of Costco in Waipio. With their assistance I'm always able to get in and out without complication. I did not get their names but at my register the two gentlemen who were ringing me up and packing my insulated bags were so professional and courteous. I personally appreciate when my groceries and items are placed inside of my bags so that it's easy to load into my car. I feel that's a huge convenience and a nice thing to offer! I enjoy walking the aisles of this location better than the Kapolei location because of the employees and their helpful attitudes. I also find the fruit to be better at this location. The only negative is people literally bring their entire family on Sundays for the samples. So many people literally stand around and try each and every sample blocking aisles. Children are everywhere when samples are offered. If I had children, I probably would take advantage too! but geez, it makes shopping a little stressful because I don't. read more

I love this Costco, they are very friendly and helpful! The employee's always recognize me and help respectfully. I have some physical challenges and they are helpful without making me feel handicapped or old. They help only to the point that I require and respect my ability to do much on my own and that is super kewl! Also, they are very good when a refund is needed even if the receipt is lost. I swear they've thought of everything. Love all their new healthy food products too. The worst one on the island. I live all the way Northshore side and I couldnt get off from work so I sent my husband on my behalf with my cards and the one time that they do look at the card they wouldn't let my husband use it. They werent even able to make a one time exception considering we live so far away. I FaceTime them and everything and still they say "no" My husband is not on the account with me but i could've sent my ID and everything to them just to verify. We needed these items for our New Year dinner but thanks to this Costco it made things very inconvenient and the worst experience I've ever encountered with Costco. Been a costco member since I started working and I've always referred my friends and family but after today I would rather take my business to Sams Club! read more

This is solely with regards to the tire crew. I brought my van in at 9:45 in the morning finally got waited on by 10:10 and yes there was a small line. I was #4. I needed a tire rotation. it has now been an hour and a half since I've been here and still my tire rotation has not been completed. it has been on the rack for over an hour now. I just can't believe what takes so long to rotate 4 tires. This is literally a 5 minute job. Even if they had planned on balancing the tires which I don't know they did, it only takes 3 minutes for each tire so add 15 minutes. there's no way this should have taken longer than a half hour. My job finally got finished at 11:50. So unless you have hours to shop, you might want to think twice about having your tires rotated here. It's a good thing I'm a retired unemployed employer that's used to whining about getting a job done before you start it! read more

I love this Costco. Everyone is so nice. The place is a little like a zoo but you just have to be understanding that a lot of tourist with grandparents and all the kids adds to the experience. Out of all the Costco's on the island, Waipio Costco is my favorite! Why? Because it was my first. And we all know, you never forget your first! (wink wink) Once upon a time, I lived in Mililani, so I frequented this location at least once every two weeks. Waipio was part of my hood yo! (In a particularly unconvincing thug voice) Now that I live in town, I only come here when I'm taking my car in for maintenance across the street at Tony Auto. One of the reasons I like Waipio Costco is because it doesn't have the insanely stressful crowds like the Iwilei location. (*I will note that this is during the weekdays mind you.) Although, I enjoy this store, my one very big pet peeve is when people go against the flow of traffic in the store. I feel like there's a general agreed upon notion that you walk in, go up the first main aisle and then U-turn down the parallel aisle. Up towards the meats, then down towards the cashiers. For those of you who are going against the flow: YOU ARE SCREWING IT UP FOR THE REST OF US! Oh and you there walking slowly with your uncle and your grandmother while on your cell phone: YOU ARE BLOCKING THE ENTIRE AISLE! I have an 18 month old baby and this is like carrying a ticking time clock in your shopping cart. I have a limited amount of time and only so many snacks to tide over my little screamer while getting my groceries. Help a lady out yo! So next time you visit Costco Waipio and hear a blood curdling scream which echoes throughout the warehouse at a relentless pace. That's just me with my crying banchee of a baby, stuck behind a family of four, who are walking at a snails pace and coincidentally going in the wrong direction down the main aisle. Dear Potential Homeless Person, If I were a bum, I'd live next to Costco. I'd pan-handle during the day until I earned $4.50, then I'd head over to the food window and order up 3 polish dogs and sodas. 1 for breakfast 1 for lunch 1 for dinner I'd fill one cup with water. Then I'd wrap the polish dogs with a plastic bag I found and put them in the remaining two cups, then fill those cups with ice (to keep the polish dog from spoiling). Then I'd load up the onions, relish and sauerkraut on my left over polish dog and eat it. Meat, grain and vegetables at 540 calories before condiments...I'd call it a square meal. I'd probably hangout in the food court area until I'm completely hydrated, then I'd refill the cups holding the hot dogs with fresh ice and put them in the shade somewhere. I'd then fill my original water cup half way with onions and relish, then put a piece of plastic bag inside and fill the remaining cup with ice...now my lunch and dinner are set for the rest of the day as I pan handle for tomorrows feast. Talk about convenience! This Costco is located right off the H2 freeway in Waipio which makes it easy to find your household supplies/groceries, gas up, pick up takeout and get back onto the road. Being a member does has it perks in saving money on bulk items from toilet paper to a years worth of dental floss to ibuprofen to last you until the next millennium. You can take advantage of all the free food samples and new exhibits which comes around on the weekends. The perishable vegetables and fruits are located in a walk in style refrigerator but the eggs and milks are behind the doors so you don't have to freeze again. The bakery replenishes fresh items around the clock and personalized cakes (no cupcakes - sorry!) must be ordered 24 hours in advance. They do not sell Ani's sweet bread but instead make their own in house. Once you reach the check out, the employees work quickly and accurately to get you in and out of the store. Sometimes you would see a manager carry a scanner who would scan all your items and by the time you reach the cashier, you do not have to place your items on the conveyor belt but instead automatically ring you up with your membership card. So be sure to look for those holding the scanner because it saves so much time! Recently, I replaced my tires on Sunday morning and it only took 55 minutes. They also will fix my flats and rotate my tires for free. After spending too much than you expected inside, try pumping some gas located steps away from the entrance. Remember, they do not accept cash as a payment. If you're hungry, try ordering their hot dogs, pizza, etc. because the take out counter is located outside of the store which does not require showing your membership card. This place definitely deserves a Gold Star and worth the $50 yearly fee! read more

Tire Center Review I love Costco for grocery shopping but their tire center needs some reorganization, customer service skills and change the tire centers phone message cause that just irked the crap out of me. After calling about 10 times and finally getting through to someone instead of hearing that auto message "the person at this line is unavailable" and takes you back to the options its like why give me options when you can't give me to the person I need. But okay, finally when I get a hold of someone I ask if I can check if they have a center tire in stock? The guy who picks up quickly says sure but needs to put me on hold. I said sure but I guess the guy stupidly forgot to actually press the HOLD button. I stayed on the phone for a little over 15 mins just listening to whoever was working talk SHIT about customers. My favorite one was how whoever the guy was who picked up the phone I could hear him say "Yeah, I had to Bull Shit to the guy cause I didn't know what for tell him. The customer told him if he came in 1-2 hours earlier his car would of been fixed or at least taken a look at." Which was totally a lie. As a customer and hearing that I don't know if i'd ever take my car for anything at their shop because I wouldn't know if their lying to me or not and just making like. So after 15 mins of hearing how they love their job but just hate the customers I hung up. I really needed my tire so I called again after calling all over the place trying to look for my specific tire which apparently no one carries. I just thought if Costco has it I could just buy the tire from them and have it set by someone else. So I called again and the usual took many tries to get someone and ironically got the same person and finally got him to just check if they had it which they didn't have it. They guy made it seem like before hanging up I was a complete bother and was just straight up rude. Wish I could give 0 Stars for the tire center but yelp forces me to at least give 1 But Costco grocery and food pantry gets 5+ Stars across the board. read more

I have been going to This Costco since for a long time now, And for my family this is the place to go for the Bulk food I need to get to feed the animals in the household I need a whole Cow I think to satisfy those ravenous carnivores... I swear I buy enough milk to keep the Dairies open. Not to mention the slabs of eggs and meat to keep them wolves at bay... Tires for the truck for all that traveling to and from Costco keeps me rollin' and haulin' all those pallets... Seriously though if it wasn't for Costco I'd go broke faster than I already do feeding the wolves... The service at least at the cashiers is usually pretty decent although if you are in the isles it would take some searching for help. YES now Gas I almost forgot That attendant filling my tank is the BEST!!! oh wait that's me! haha... what can I say can't grumble when it's you doing it. And the Gas prices are the best on the Island and convenient at least for me since it's on my way to work. Just keep in mind avoid it on the Weekends as it is crowded like heading to a free food event hosted by Yelp! except we all know us Yelpers are much nicer.. it can be a quite a exercise in patience while people are loading their cars up and everyone is looking for parking causing some lines, But I'd rather go to this Costco than the one in Town as that one is heck of a lot worse even during the week. read more

During this pandemic, I needed to order contact lens and being a kapuna I didn't want to go to the store and wait in line. I called the optical shop when they just opened and Jennifer helped me place my order over the phone. She said the contact lenses will be mailed to my home. She was so helpful! This made my life so much easier and happier since I don't have to the warehouse. This is an excellent customer service from the optical shop. 5 Stars. Why? Best. Parking. Stalls. EVER. Frequenting any parking garage on this island you will notice that the stalls are quite tiny even for drivers of compact cars. Makes you wish you rode your razor scooter to work. These Costco Waipio stalls are the Jack Bauer of parking stalls. You can park whatever vehicle you drive into these luxurious paved and painted beauties. Whether you drive an escalade, denali, or party bus, it'll fit. you can easily fit two Prius' side by side or one Big Bertha wood panel - steel reinforced station wagon in those suckers. Costco has always been one of my favorite places to shop and with their large selection and easily navigable aisles- no reason to switch to any other retailer. You know what I miss? The bread lady. "ITS SO GOOD, IT'LL MAKE YOU WANNA GO YEEEEEHAW". Where'd she go? I find myself buying less bread these days and that makes me sad. The one trip to Costco that stood out most was a last minute pre-Christmas meat run where Costco was packed with all the last minute shoppers. I thought it would for sure be a disaster with an hour+ wait in line. No way. Most efficient Costco ever. I have to admit...I am addicted to shopping at this Costco. It has everything I need all in one place! I shop here at least every other week. I have had my car serviced at their tire center as well. I am not bothered by the crowds or long lines because it's just part of shopping there. I am however annoyed by customers that block the entire aisle while "talking story" with their friends or family members that they happen to see. I am also annoyed by the shoppers that talk or text while trying to shop and push their cart. Pay attention people! I'm going to start out by saying that Costco (in general) has worn on me. The mental power it takes to get my butt up and navigate the aisles on top of the throngs of inconsiderate people has weathered my patience. I like it even less when the Costco is smaller, increasingly denser, and even more congested. Enter Waipahu Costco. You all know about their bulk prices, so I'm not even going to approach that subject. I figure when talking chains, we're going to take more of a peek at what makes them different, than similar. How do you add to the already congested cartways you ask? Well, thrown in free sample stands to the crowded major thoroughfares. I think this joint also has the smallest amount of check outs I've ever seen in a Costco. The lines stretch 7-10 carts deep, whereas at most other locations they will be more like 3-5. Parking isn't too bad seeing as the lot is really crowded. So pay attention to the additional unwary pedestrians. read more
