I have been a Costco member for more than 20 years, and this was the worst customer service experience I have ever had at Costco. On June 11, 2026, I visited Costco Warehouse #1214 in Teterboro, NJ with my wife and mother-in-law to exchange a diamond ring purchased from Costco on March 27, 2023 for $2,899. The ring was purchased as a gift for my mother-in-law after she helped care for our newborn son. It never fit properly and was never worn. We brought the original receipt, original box, original certificates, and the ring itself. The employee assisting us called over Reggie, who identified himself as the Customer Service Manager. After he refused the return, I requested a higher-level review and was then assisted by Chris, who informed me he was second in command at the warehouse. During the discussion, I pulled up Costco's own return policy on Costco's website and showed both managers the section specifically addressing diamond returns and inspections for diamonds over one carat. What frustrated me most was that neither manager appeared willing to engage with the policy I was showing them. I repeatedly asked why Costco's published policy did not apply and never received a clear answer. Instead, I was simply told the return would not be accepted. The issue wasn't just the denial. It was the attitude. Both managers came across as dismissive, condescending, and completely uninterested in helping. The most disappointing moment occurred when Chris told me he would be "more than happy to buy me a hot dog" but would not process the return. I found that comment insulting and unprofessional. My mother-in-law is a Costco customer in South Korea and was excited to visit a Costco warehouse in the United States before returning home. Instead, she left with a very negative impression of the experience and commented that the Costco stores in Korea felt very different from the ones here. I rarely return merchandise and Costco can verify that through my membership history. I wasn't asking for special treatment. Whether you're an Executive Member and have access at 9AM or you're coming 15 minutes before closing, this Costco is an absolute MAD HOUSE at all times of the day. I love organized chaos, but this is not for me. I'd rather drive 30 minutes in another direction to go to a much quieter and calmer location. Where's that you may ask? It's been over a month since I got the Costco membership, and this store is my primary place for exploring the world of Costco. It's a massive store and equally extremely crowded. Weekdays or weekends, day or night, almost impossible to find parking nearby, takes me about 10-15 minutes every time. The giant store is mostly clean and organized. So far in this store, I have found some amazing food items like mango rasmalai, pho bowls, spring rolls nuggets. Seems like Costco keeps a superior collection of food products. Also found gift cards for Tacoria at 20% discount. Bought $200 worth cards for $160. Another important item for me were Duracell AA and AAA batteries. Checkouts are usually long lines too, takes anywhere between 10-20 minutes depending on crowd. Prices are really good, comparable to other wholesale clubs. Though some non perishable items have better prices elsewhere. I tried their pizza and hot dogs. The of the items had basic taste. I wasn't surprised since the prices are cheap too. But the service was quick, I got the food and drink within couple of minutes of ordering. I have also been to customs service desk few times regarding my online account issue and some returns. Overall I have seen all staff members being very friendly and helpful. I'll be visiting the store more often to find out more gems available in this treasure land. I can't believe how long it's been since my last update. I find Costco still remains a great place to shop, and from what I gather work as well. Prices have gone up, as everywhere, and sale items are fewer and farther between. I think the store becomes busier and busier with each passing day. Parking is often a challenge no matter what day of the week you go. The only thing I wish I had done differently is bought Costco stock many years ago, as it has increased in price tremendously over the years! read more

If you must come on the weekend, prepare for a battlefield. On weekends, you'll need to circle around a bit for parking, navigate your cart around hoards of people, and expect to wait on longer than usual lines. Saying 'excuse me' and 'pardon me' can make the entire process a little more civil, but there's only so much one can do when the souls are wall-to-wall in here. My husband and I have experimented with other times and days of the week, and have found Tuesday afternoons to be one's best chance of a quiet Costco trip here. Beer and alcohol are sold in an adjacent annex (prices are fair, but not Costco-fair. We've seen better in other liquor stores.) That said, there's lots to love. Samples are aplenty, and I especially appreciate how many fun Asian products are on the shelves and freezers. There are things I've found here that I've never seen elsewhere. Assuming it was just a faulty seal, I called Costco Customer Service. ( Since I purchased this online I can't be sure that this was handled by Teteboro, but no one is speaking up and I left this same review on their website) Wanting to be efficient and save everyone the hassle of a full return and replacement, I requested a simple repair. That was my first mistake. Instead of an efficient fix, I was subjected to: _An hour on the phone making multiple trips to the basement and hauling a heavy freezer away from the wall just to read a serial number conveniently located on the back) _The Frigidaire Runaround: Frigidaire couldn't help me directly and passed me off to a third-party warranty company called Curtis International. _Horrible Customer Service: Curtis International's phone greeting explicitly states they have a "zero-tolerance policy for profanity"--and the moment the agent answered, I understood why. The representative was actively unhelpful, constantly talked over me, and refused to transfer me to a supervisor (claiming none were available) or even arrange a callback. If Costco IS interested the call was recorded. Instead of doing her job and filing the paperwork, she insisted on texting me a link to fill out my own repair ticket. The Bottom Line: Costco usually has great customer service, but their pipeline for third-party appliance repairs through Frigidaire and Curtis International is completely broken. Save yourself the literal and figurative headache: if your appliance arrives defective, do not try to be nice and ask for a repair. Just return it. read more

I love Costco, but it's always crowded since we moved here. Parking is hard, aisles are cramped, and cashiers are overwhelmed. Despite the crowds, the service is great, and the aisles are well-stocked. The workers are dedicated and efficient. The selection and prices are excellent. I hope they open another Costco closer to me so I don't have to drive an hour. A closer store would reduce the crowds and allow the workers to work at a slower pace. This is a decent Costco. I've never not found anything I was looking for. But, I don't come here often because it's always a zoo. That said it carries some different products than I find at my typical Costco so therefore I do like to change it up from time to time. Interestingly the price also differs on various items that I may find at my other Costco versus here. Sometimes lower and sometimes higher. I just really have to plan ahead hence the 3 stars as this could be a several hour situation. I've spent 20+ minutes circling the parking lot for a spot whereas other times it's easier but overall you just have to be very aware because it's a traffic jam situation. People and cars everywhere. I live out of state, but will bring my parents to this Costco when I visit. For a large parking lot, I'm shocked by how difficult it is to find a parking space. You literally have to fight for a spot. I've had people try to steal a spot I was waiting for or someone drive from down the aisle claiming that the spot on the other end of the lot was their. Inside is even worse with the crowds and rudeness of the customers. I can say this. The staff has been very nice. It's difficult to give my opinion on whether products are easy to find because it's hard to get passed the bumper to bumper carts and rude fellow customers. Average Costco - it never has products that I see are available at other NJ locations. Their baked goods rarely have savory options and are focused on the sweets. It's busy 24/7 even at opening and the car park is a nightmare to navigate. They don't have a great system for their food court and they sometimes get so backed up on the cashier lanes till the lines go all the way back into the prepared food section. It's never a relaxing experience and you feel like you have to be in battle mode to get your shopping done. read more

I have a love/hate relationship with Costco, especially the one in Teterboro. Due to their shorter hours, compared to say Shop Rite or BJ's, this place is always jammed. Since the isles have no signs describing what's down that isle, you tend to spend more time wandering around trying to find your items. I usually have a small order, and I put the upc symbols facing up so the cashier can quickly scan the items. Some cashiers feel the need to admonish me for not taking the items out of the cart. I find Costco to be lacking therefore, in a pleasant customer friendly atmosphere. I guess you don't have to when you're popular. Otherwise, I shop there as infrequently as possible, but they do have some good products that I like. read more

It was very fairly priced (on the cheaper end), and it is to my understanding this is quality gasoline Along with Diesel, there are only 2 fuel grade options: Regular and Premium This is a huge fuel pump station, and depending on the time of day you visit it may be backed up. What I found interesting was the attendants are not allowed to accept any gratuity (tips). I tend to be a tipper, and definitely to anyone who pumps my gas in the gruesome weather conditions. TIRE SHOP: they quote you quickly with their highest price point tire so better ask for other options. Be prepared to wait, if you think the tire advantage plus was inviting, think again, for a tire installation or wheel repair or any free services you will have to wait 2-3 hours. Unless your time is not worth it then go ahead. Inspect your tires, mine was done at night and I noticed that they never place back my aluminum valve stem cover. People create traffic by circling the parking lot or sitting and waiting. At least once a month I turn around and go home before even entering the store. There are only certain items we purchase at Costco : Dairy (Organic milk, cage-free eggs), Kirkland brand (frozen shrimps), Avocado oil (for cooking), EVOO, bananas, fresh broccoli, onions, meat (sirloin & steaks), what else .... hummm We will be able to "survive" for 3 weeks when we shop there. I had a problem with one of the strings holding my Lens in, Tim took care of it in under 5 min, super professional and super friendly guy. Even cleaned my glasses before handing them back. Yesterday my partner and I came to our regular Costco in Teterboro. We went there because Walmart's pharmacy was charging him 3x higher on a certain medication this time around. He looked around online and found out Costco could get the same much cheaper. So he had his doctor called into their pharmacy the day before. We arrived right about 5pm. The parking was a bit crazy as snow hindered places where one could have parked. There were no lines going into the building. We made a b line to the pharmacy. The staff was very helpful. Ask for the last name and date of birth. His prescription was there for pick up and paid for it separately from the normal checkout. Please note one must know someone or be a member of Costco to get in and use their pharmacy. Since the checkout lines were manageable we also picked up a few things. The best time to come here would be right after work. read more

Is there such a thing as a calm Costco? Does it exist? No, hahaha but this is definitely better than the one in Clifton. Parking is always a mess, yes I get it but it's still not as bad as other locations I've been to. It's crowded inside of course yet still not as bad as the one I usually frequent. I went at around 1pm and the lines weren't long at all. They were well stocked on everything. Got all my shopping done in about an hour and a half. Had to stop and get my slice of pizza and soda for 2.50, duh. The main problem with this place is just the complex in general. They could have more parking spots for Costco if they laid it out a little better. While I think it would be easier coming at an off time like I did, just getting into the complex proved hectic because of all the other restaurants in the place and their lunch rushes. This review is only about the tire Center. I ordered the tires online and they got there in two days. So I made an appointment online. For 11:45 on a Wednesday. So they call me to make an appointment and I told them I have one the next day.I told them I needed the TPMS for my car. They said they don't have any in stock. But they have them in Clifton and Wayne. So I have to go to Clifton and purchase them and bring them to my appointment. So I get there and he says about an hour and a half wait. I come back after an 1 1/2 hour the car was just pulled in. I tell them to save a tire so I could use it as a spare after waiting another 45 minutes we finally get in the car and the tire is not there. So they have to hunt for the one. They even wrote it on the order form left front tire save. So they finally find it, give it to us and we leave. On the way home they call me in the car on the way home. They tell me they didn't torque the wheels correctly they wanted me to come back so they could check them.So I told him I'm not coming back there. I'll tighten them myself and that's exactly what I did. So I waited two and a half hours with an appointment and they didn't tighten the wheels correctly. Plus, I had to go to another Costco to buy the tire pressure sensors because they didn't have them in stock. Do yourself a favor and just go elsewhere. I really don't think their prices are that great to begin with. Maybe they're just too busy to focus on the details. read more

Costco for the win!!! I've been to the other Costcos around North Jersey and they are all amazing!! This is an urban and busy area w/ LOTS OF PEOPLE - if you're going to complain about the traffic and lack of parking spots then tough luck to you. This is how Costcos are unless you're in the Southern US or somewhere more rural. Despite the high volume, the Costco Warehouse is well maintained and well stocked. The staff is friendly and helpful. The cafeteria for pizza and ice cream is well run and all items are readily available. Same goes for the Eyeglasses and Photo divisions -- everyone working hard and never too long a wait. The returns and check out line isn't terrible as well, 15min waiting tops. The Gas Station can get quite crowded on the weekends so could take up to 25min but you know the cost unbeatable -- across the board. read more

I visited Costco to get some Tumeric since they are the only ones who carry 1500 mg tablets. I don't usually frequent these types of stores because they get too crowded. I truly dislike entering stores that get too crowded. However for this product I was willing to deal with it. This product really works to alleviate pain due to arthritis. I have dealt with pain in my shoulder and knee for approximately 3 years. After taking this product for 1 week my shoulder completely stopped hurting. My knee is better, still hurts so it's not a miracle cure but it made a big difference so that I don't need to use a brace unless I'm walking a substantial distance. This product has restored my faith in homeopathic remedies. The store though I will avoid especially with this god forsaken virus going around. A solid spot! Note that in Bergen County certain things can't be sold on Sunday so a lot of non-food items are blocked off and marked as not being able to be sold. Overall: this is a normal Costco in terms of what it sells. However, the employees are just...so rude and angry all the time. It's really unpleasant and unnecessary. Cashiers will ask weirdly personal questions. For example, yesterday one didn't even say hello, she just asked if we celebrated Christmas. We said "no, do you?" she said, "obviously, that's why I asked". Okay...? No need to get an attitude about it. Sheesh. Another time the cashier at the photo center asked why I was printing photos. I told him I just like having physical copies. His response? "Whatever, it's weird". Can they just keep their rude responses to themselves??? I'm not here to get their opinion! The food kiosk is terrible. We ordered a pizza and it took over 30 minutes. We told the employees we wanted to cancel it as it's taking a really long time. They had pizzas ready, but they said: "those are for other people from the kiosk line". Okay, but we ordered before them. One of the employees apologized, which I appreciated, but the others made it seem like we were annoying them. If other people can get their pizzas in 5-10 minutes, there's no reason we shouldn't either. read more

This is solely for the gas situation. Having an attendant pump your gas is a nice concept if the attendant does her job. This afternoon a lady was on duty in our row. She was AWFUL. Unhappy and miserable. She literally was in our way but barked at us to pull up. We were truly concerned about the possibility of running over her foot. She didn't care and didn't move. So freakin' lazy. As she's barking at us, she still has her foot in our path. I guess she doesn't need that foot. Then she asks me for my pin #. Sure, lazy lady, I'm gonna give you my pin # cuz you're trustworthy. Costco, how about doing away with the attendants who aren't really attending but rather severely slowing down the flow.
