On this trip, the local craft beer selection was way better in Eureka rather than Ukiah; it was reversed on the last trip. But the discount clothing was similar to the previous visit. But I did not buy any clothes. Ambiance - Consistent, has all the departments. But glad you have improved your local craft beer options. Plenty of parking. Open 7 days a week; see pictures for specific hours, member status, etc. Service - Self service. Price - Reasonable. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success since 1976, since Price Club. Now you are the 5th largest retailer in the world and #10 on the Fortune 500. 804 warehouses worldwide, with 558 in the US. 1980 IPO. 1993 Price Club and Costco merger. 1997 Rebrand all locations to Costco. 2020 105.5 million members. read more

This place is amazing and everybody that works here is amazing. I don't understand how there's any negative reviews. Most of them seem absolutely ridiculous. Someone left a one star review because they were told to remove their dog out of the shopping cart. Nobody wants your disgusting dog in a shopping cart where people are gonna put their food that they eat, youre despicable and inconsiderate. The absolute entitlement of people is ridiculous. Heres a thought you dont have to take your dog to every single place you go. If its not a working dog like a seeing eye dog, then you're just an entitled baby that wants to take their dog everywhere because they don't know how to raise an animal that's not emotionally attached to them. People wanna claim dogs are for emotional support or anxiety. If you're that anxious stay home and use DoorDash.... We can all thank the ADA for this disgusting behavior making everyone entitled with dogs that are absolutely not service dogs, but legally because of bs ADA nobody can ask to see the dogs papers. Businesses should 86 everyone who brings their dogs into a grocery store that doesnt provide paper but legally you cant do that because its discrimination so 90 percent of schmucks are gona lie and bring their unkemp unwashed dogs in. This place has always taken care of me, when I went past my 90 day return policy on electronics and Samsung was screwing me over with their warranty policy and I had paid for an extended policy with Costco. However, I had to wait for my two year warranty to end with Samsung. The floor manager himself broke the company policy to return my item when i told him the horrors of what Samsung was putting me through. In my 15 years of being a member here i have never once been mistreated or rudely talked to. Anytime I ask for anything everybody is above and beyond, smiling and so willing to help. This is legitimately one of the only institutions in Humboldt county where you don't hate to go to, because the people aren't awful and hate their lives. Great Value and Organic Selection Costco in Eureka is always clean, well-organized, and stocked with great deals. Since I'm not from this area, I really appreciate the wide variety of organic goods that aren't available at my local store. The staff is friendly, efficient, and keeps the lines moving even during busy times. Parking is easy, and the gas station prices can't be beat. I've been to costcos all over the country and this one consistently has the Rudest workers. They will walk away from you to avoid your questions, be short and rude and point where things are, and are the least helpful of any Costco anywhere. The optical department is also very rude. The glasses are always dirty and disgusting and the workers slather their hands with lotion before handing you glasses to try , it's so gross. The workers in the store are always pissed off they have to be there. The returns department, the checkers, the managers, they are all lazy and rude. Yes it's the only Costco for hundreds of miles, but it's worth it to wait to go to a different one if you can. read more

Recently, I split the bill with my partner and the cashiers were more than kind to allow us to split the bill. Their restrooms are always clean looking and smelling. My favorite is how the soap smells after you wash your hands. I appreciate how professional their tire staff was. Also, if possible and at your disposal, don't forget to wear a flamingo shirt or clothes on Fridays apparently staff do. Adorable! read more

Love Costco. Who doesn't but the Carmel Mountain business has the rudest customers anywhere! So much pushing and shoving for free samples of food. Blocking aisles with your cart while you eat your. Third or fourth sample... not cool. Bringing 14 relatives with you and standing side by side blocking aisles while you talk or eat samples, also not cool. Please consider this is a store and people want to shop and browse, not get blocked in while you leave your cart to wander off. Staff is great and usually plentiful. Self. Service works great and is usually monitored well with helpful staff. Love the optical staff. Pharmacy staff is nice as well, never too long a wait. Need a better waiting area. Appreciate the cleanliness and well stocked shelves. It's just the people who shop here that need manners. read more

I've been to many Costco locations and they've somehow hired all of the folks with great customer service skills at this one in Eureka! From the customer service desk staff, tire installers, cashiers, optical and even the greeters and folks who review your receipt at the exit, they're all personable and helpful. It's a little hit or miss at the food counter, but today the woman with whom I interacted was delightful. So the store is A+ but a word of warning if you're buying appliances online: there are consistent delivery delays/issues up in our area. The site says you must live within a 50 mile radius of the store, BUT, they don't deliver them from the store. They subcontract the delivery/install to outside companies and both orders I placed this year were significantly delayed. It took weeks to get the appliances delivered and then installation was to be set up with yet another company who didn't contact me for 10 days after the delivery. We installed the dishwasher ourselves and could have saved ourselves a lot of frustration by renting a U-Haul pickup for an hour and going to Costco and buying directly from the Eureka store. Now waiting for a refrigerator to be delivered next week and regret not having taken my own advice (bought on 6/6 with 6/23 as earliest possible delivery date.) No reduced star rating for Eureka location due to online purchase issues. read more

Many experiences with weirdly entitled employees having lots to say about me doing my job as an independent contractor. I have done my job for 6+ years and, like many people, know how to go to the store. Several cashiers and boxers seem to have their own ideas of what I should be doing for my job and more times than not have some weird comment about what I should do instead. As though their job is to give me notes on my work, instead of scanning my groceries and providing a box. Or letting me box my own groceries if it's soooo inconvenient for them! Checking out an order to deliver is not any different than a normal grocery check out. It's like they think that because I'm not their "usual" customer they can say just anything they want, the worst of which made me cry and then he continued giving notes on what I "could do to make it more convenient [for him] next time" while I was crying in the check out lane. Completely inappropriate and unnecessary. In general, The Costco itself is smaller than im used to having traveled a lot but they seem to have everything I'm ever looking for which is nice. While The Costco itself is good, it's become expected that my interactions with the employees will be not good. Which sucks because as I said it's my job to be there too, I wish they would stop making comments that make doing my job more taxing than it already is. It is not ALL the employees , one particular employee always makes me feel grounded and welcome in the chaos that is the eureka Costco. I wish more people were like him I think his name is Dustin. I love Costco and have been shopping there for years. I have been getting the rotisserie chicken for the past decade or so, I just bought a chicken yesterday for a family lunch. I brought the chicken home, (mind you I live very far away from the store.) I arrived home to open up the chicken, and it was raw. I was baffled, I need to get lunch on the table very soon and did not have time to get a new one. This was absolutely ridicules experience. After my awful discovery of the raw chicken, I was dumbfounded to find that my eggplant parmesan was busted open! This is one of the worst experiences with Costco I have had so far, I was so irritated with this whole experience and have to make a fast meal for our family lunch, and it looked rushed. I was so appalled with this whole bombardment of negative experiences from the same bunch of food. I am so disappointed, and I hope that they will have better food when I come back next time. read more

My experience getting glasses from Costco eye center. I took a pair of glasses I bought at Costco back, to update prescription 2/23/24. Had to wait my turn no problem but picking up those glasses is another story!! And not a good one Worst customer service! If I would have been acknowledged for standing in the pre paid pickup That would be a game changer but, to be ignored! Why have a pre paid pickup sign? You get a bad review! You will have to wait for everyone that is there before you to pick out glasses and pay! To not even get I'm the only one here sorry? Nothing! I went and asked her if someone else was coming in or off break "No" I called to talk to manager Tamera said "Oh, someone is on a break!" No, I asked only one lady working. Tamera offered to get my glasses ready for me, I asked so you can adjust them if needed "No" she doesn't have a license to do that! Hmmmm thought a manager manages all aspects of the business they are in charge of? Unsure when I will get my glasses going on a month! Is customer service a thing of the past? What I LOVE About This Location: - It's not super busy if you go when it first opens to the public which is at 10am. - They sanitize their carts and require you to wear a mask during this COVID era. - The lines at the gas pumps are not too long. - They cater to seniors in the early AM; again, for this COVID time so please check their website for details. - I love their Chicken Bake! - Even though it is just my husband and I that are members, we still save money! - The rotisserie chicken is delicious! I've had rotisserie chicken from several grocery stores and I must say, Costco probably is my favorite. - The Wild Planet canned tuna is a bargain. I visited with my mother, and people offered to help us load bulky items into the cart as we shopped, helped check if a special item was in stock, helped my mom find what she was looking for... just great friendly service! Everyone preparing food samples was lovely, the gentleman checking us out was patient with my mom's Costco "cash back" coupons she had been carrying around for 3 years... They wouldn't let my service dog in because she was in a cart. Said it wasn't sanitary. But I don't see them cleaning carts after every use and I'm sure My dog is a lot cleaner than most children that get put in the carts. Plus she was on a blanket I brought in for her. Okay guys, what is with this Costco management? Like honestly I love Costco and it obviously deserves 5 stars but not from me at this time. I get it's in a bad area of town with drug addicted homeless, but I have never done drugs nor do I look homeless, no need for security. When I went here with a friend the employees seem to have a rude arrogant attitude, and I felt very harassed so we left. Not a way to treat customers, or obtain new ones. This is a necessity for me, as a disabled person. I only put a lower rating for the following reason- Dog owners. The out-of-control problem with fake 'service dogs', and their law breaking, entitled owners. It's not the fault of the staff, who are just doing their jobs, and stuck dealing with these arrogant customers as well. But clearly, some steps could be taken to help mitigate the problem. So called 'emotional support animals' are NOT service dogs by LAW, and are not covered by disability laws, and not allowed in businesses. It does not make the owner disabled to have an ESA. Such scammers are undermining real disabled people, and their real service dogs. Some of them have been attacked by these owner's pets. Too many problems to even list here. Some of the staff admitted pet dogs have attacked in their store. This is completely unacceptable, a safety hazard as well as a CRIME. These entitled pet owners should know that they can be federally prosecuted with fraud, and them having some health issues does NOT exempt them from that. Keep your pets at home unless you want to be sued, and charged with fraud! read more

This review is for the tire center. There was a tall gentleman wearing a beanie who was extremely nice and helpful! My car's tire pressure light came on and he redirected me to the complimentary air pumps. He even came out after addressing the other customers to check on me and teach me how to reset the light on my dash. Great service! read more

The tire shop would not mount my new Costco purchased tires because their DOT rule book stated my rims were 1/2" too narrow. Doesn't matter that I've been running the exact same tires for 15 years. So be very careful to check before waiting a week and a half for your tires to come in and then wait for your appointment. The rest of Costco is great! read more

Updated today - bought 7 clothing items through self checkout. Folded each item nicely and neatly so they wouldn't be a mess in my car. I get to the exit and John -- the receipt guy -- says "I need to see all seven items" so I start counting -- some of the tags are jambled in the stack and that wasn't good enough for him. The store is your standard Costco but the few times we have visited so far they have been low or out of the usual supplies- simple things like bananas or crackers and such. Never thought I would see a store short on produce. What was difficult to swallow from Costco, and I think it's the same everywhere is that we ordered an appliance from them and their delivery took over a month. And half of that time it was sitting in a single location not moving and. On one could give us any answers. Not Costco, not their shipping vendor. No one. This review is for the TIRE center. Spent 1.000$ on new tires, right after a sensor light came on in my truck. Instead of fixing it as a courtesy they blame us and say it was just bad timing. I find it highly suspicious that a sensor goes bad immediately after getting my tires changed. They wanted an extra 65$ for the señor to be fixed by THEIR MISTAKE. Bad unfriendly and unhelpful experience today that could have easily been resolved if cashier or manager had offered to help. I asked my son to shop for me, I can't walk the aisles. He had my card and his ID, we share the same last name and same address. Cashier says you can't shop with your mom's card, gave accusing dismissive vibe, he was embarrassed, tried to explain and asked if they would call me to check. Cashier said no, can't help, can't call her and we are keeping the card. Cashier also claimed he used a curse word, he says absolutely not. I would like to get a refund for membership since I can't shop there because of mobility problems and son will not return to risk more public humiliation. Same story every time in the food court one person struggling to keep up with the work load and nobody bothering to help right at 12 noon twice in two weeks no hot dog for me do to long line and not enough counter help . Management looks and walks away from post . i understand when they have to cook more than 10 pizzas at once for a Togo order the counter customer gets lost in the mix . Employee trying their best yet management is not available to assist food court is one of the first jobs you get and if you advance with the company you should still carry those skill and be willing to help coworkers not just walk away .. shame on management at this location . The entrance door guy was the rudest Costco employee I've ever had to speak to! When my sister and I walked in..he looked at us and said "Do you have a membership here..or what?"?! Apparently he must think that two minority females couldn't possibly have a Costco membership! My husband walked in for some food while I got Costco gas. He lets the front door person know he's getting food and he's accused of being non member. The manager came over and said "just this time" that he could only walk inside without his card. Check the policy Costco employees, you don't need a membership just to get food, and more importantly, don't intimidate customers on their way in. They didn't even offer for him to get another card at the customer service desk because they assumed he was a nonmember. Update: The food court is seldom fully staffed and sadly, the line for prepaid food ends up being longer than if you just walked up and ordered. When I used my Costco card and go to pay with my husbands credit card, the cashier lady calls over the manager and refuses to scan any items until she verified that my husband also has a membership here. This has happened to us twice. What if my friend wanted to pay for my items? Are you going to tell me my friend can't pay for my items? Once again, we were assumed to be non members. After living in a big city, Eureka Costco is quite pleasant, even during COVid19 restrictions. Going early or 1/2 an hour before closing, is the fastest way in and out. People are friendly and the checkers are always helpful. Except one assistant to checker who snapped at us for not getting TWO packages of muffins instead of one. We declined as we were kind of forced to get two for the price of one. Well, we truly did not need the extra calories. read more

When heading north up toward the Oregon border, Costco makes a great pit stop for refueling your gas tank. As with most Costco's which are near on & off freeway/highway ramps, this location is a couple blocks off Hwy 101. Not only did we refuel our gas tank, we also made a point of going into the warehouse to check out possible specialized items that is suitable for the local area. What do you ask? Like flannel plaid shirts that Paul Bunyan might wear working as a lumberjack. This last time we didn't see anything that we couldn't get back in the Bay Area. read more
