I have been a member of both Costco and SAMs Club for years, even Pace when it was in Houston for a short time. Both Costco and SAMs Club have similar items, but different brands. Some of the big differences at Costco are the produce cooler, the dairy cooler and the discount liquor store. Costco also has monthly specials and will send you a coupon book. They also have a mobile app with the specials included in the app. Some Costco items can also be purchased online and shipped to your house. The layout of the Katy location is very close to the Willowbrook Mall location. Bunker Hill doesn't have the dairy cooler that Katy has. Costco carries their own brand of high-quality items under the Kirkland name, many have lifetime warranties. I purchased a suitcase 4 years ago and returned it a month ago for a full refund because some stitching came out on the front pocket. Great service. Check the electronics, wine, meat, tires, clothing, jewelry and appliances at Costco...you will find some great deals. My largest purchase at Costco has been wood laminate flooring. The flooring has been in our house for about ten years, and we are still very happy with it. Costco gas is very reasonable compared to the local gas stations. Just make sure you follow the rules when you go...enter from one side, exit from the other, and have your membership card with you. The one thing I don't like about the new Katy location is getting there by car. If you are arriving from I-10 or from the north side of the Grand Parkway, getting into the Costco parking lot is easy. If you are coming from south Grand Parkway, Kingsland does not yet connect...you have to u-turn on the other side of I-10. I am sure the nearby construction may fix this in the next year. read more

Good location for immunizations/vaccines. Went to get the live attenuated flu mist vaccine. The only place that has it besides pediatric offices. I went with my daughter to do this today. Here's a tip, we made appointments ahead of time. Appointments take priority over walk in's. You don't need a membership to utilize any pharmacy services. Most of the staff was friendly. Be sure to have them verify your is insurance for any immunizations. They tried to charge us but the insurance picked it up. We would have paid if I had not asked them to check. Even though I had already provided the insurance information before we were checked out. When we were brought into the room where they give immunizations. You can tell the seat was wiped down and there was sanitizer on the desk. Ohhh but apparently I had some nerve to ask the person dispensing the nasal mist if she had changed out her gloves. There was a family of 5 and then an extra person before we were seen. I felt like it was a reasonable question and I was polite as hell. She told me everything she had to do between customers and had an attitude about it. I ask because if you're giving me a nasal mist, obviously you will be touching my face. I don't want someone's dirty hands on me, so hence the question. I asked specific questions about what I need to do on my part while receiving. So if you happen to get a nasal mist flu vaccine, inhale through your nose normally. That's pretty much it. I'm big on people being nice/welcoming or just ok when it comes to dealing with the public. If you get offended and act weird because I am asking a simple question, that's on you. I don't mean to offend and I was polite to this person. This was pretty much my impression of the pharmacist at this location. The other people working were pretty nice. read more

We started our membership when the location on 99 opened. We have purchased gasoline, food, clothing, pet supplies, pharmacy and personal items as well as eye glasses and adult beverages. Pricing is similar to SAMs club but the quality is superior. I am happy with the quality of everything i have purchased from Costco. Some favorites for our household include a large bag of dog rawhide chews for about $20, organic eggs, fresh packaged specialty salads, Kirkland ground coffee (Colombian - excellent!) fresh salmon and steelhead, excellent wine selection and numerous items you will also enjoy! Do you fancy an occasional hotdog for lunch? They sell a super sized hotdog with a drink for a buck fifty. Best deal in town! The chicken sandwich is great too. The gasoline is top tier and our vehicles run very well on Costco gas. It's also usually the cheapest I can find. Although we live across I-10 from SAMs club, we have opted to allow our SAMs club membership to expire in favor of Costco due to the better quality we get for our money at Costco. I didn't have a good experience at the Costco located at 23645 Katy Fwy, Katy, TX 77449 Monday evening my husband and I went to Costco to check it out, but mainly for their optical department. I was looking to see if it would be worth getting a membership. By the time I was finished at optical it was 8:37 and they were closed. So the ASM Guillermo told me that when I come back that he would give me a $20 gift card if I purchased the Executive membership, or $10 if I purchased the Gold and wrote it on my application. The difference between the two was $60 ($60 for the gold and $120 for the Executive) I came back yesterday evening (January 8) to purchase my gold member. The lady at the desk KATHRYN was assisting my husband and I. We informed her that we wanted the Gold membership and for 10 minutes she was being very pushy about selling us the Executive membership. When I finally told her no thanks her niceness changed. She stated "Fine then,?you're the only person I sold a gold member to tonight " She became very rude in asking for my drivers license and when I handed it to her she slammed it down on the counter. The machine to take our pictures just so happened to not be working after she told us to go over there to take our picture. She continued to be rude when I asked for the $10 gift card that was promised to me. If it wasn't for me saving over $200 and the amazing customer service I received from optical which will get a separate review. I was about to walk out and not give them my business at all. This was my first time in Costco I have always been a Sam's member and I never experienced this type of rudeness of being so pushy that it was very upsetting to me because your not listening to me and my needs for my family at the time. I completely understood and told her I know how the Executive membership works but that's not what I want. I did inform a manager that was on duty but received the generic " I'm so sorry " If it wasn't for the two ladies in optical. I would of walked out. Stock up on everything! This is a fairly new Costco with a large parking lot and easy access from I-10 or Grand Parkway. We hit up Costco at least once a week for bulk goods and weekend grilling. Weekend grilling is about me filling the fridge with grilled chicken, steaks and corn so we can all scarf easy meals during weekdays. Costco has a nice selection of beef, mm chicken and seafood. We drink lots of coffee and like to get the boxes of k-cups every Saturday. Let's not forget dog food. I have two German Shepherds that chow down a sack of kibble every week. The only drawback with Costco is we always spend more than we planned. This is on cool stuff they have on the floor. read more

This is location has dirtbags (no exaggeration) for employees. Rude and even aggressive. No eye contact, no greetings and this has been going on for over year. It is like COSTCO fired all the nice ones and replaced them with TSA rejects on work-release. We can only blame management. After all, this last year everyone just wanted to buybuybuy. Well that doesn't mean COSTCO can treat us like saps. A friend of mine (COSTCO employee) told me they check your receipt on the way out not only to check on you but to check on their staff who are responsible for more theft than customers. I have been an executive member for over 20 years but no more. The pharmacist here was super rude and his actions put my life in danger. I was having issues with super high blood pressure and my doctor had prescribed my blood pressure med plus another to take when my pressure was over a certain point, which it was so this was an emergency script, the pharmacist decided he wanted to ask my doc about it before he filled it and took 3 days to do so. In the meantime my blood pressure remain high with no treatment, my doctor even called me asking why the pharmacist was calling her to ask her about it when she prescribed it to me. The pharmacist refused to explain why he did that to me. 3 months later I was sick with respiratory issues, got meds including nebulizer meds and was also supposed to get albuterol inhaler for when I'm at work. I didn't get it filled and had to call doc again to reissue it, again pharmacist was rude and refuse to explain why this wasn't filled. Never had an issue with filling my meds before or dealing with such a self righteous pharmacist who refused to communicate. read more

Way too busy, definitely not practicing social distancing. The lines are ridiculously long, especially you're running in for a few items, I went today,3/26/21, and it was overwhelming. I bought 6 bottles of Prosciutto and informed the clerk, but he kelp joking around my math skills. Guess what? I did get 6 bottles! Do I feel bad? Nope! Not when I tried telling him and was ridiculed. Also, I went in Wednesday to the optical department because I had just received an eye exam and needed contacts and glasses. The African American woman was extremely rude and not helpful at all. The prices were cheaper at Mann Eye Institute and they were kind and actually wanted my money! Imagine that! I'm so glad I went elsewhere because they were expensive enough without the crappy attitude. I definitely wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Apparently, we spend enough money there to upgrade our membership, but we'll be canceling it soon because it's not worth it. I actually prefer Sam's club because you can scan your items as they're put in your basket, eliminating the insane wait compared to Costco. read more

I hadn't been in a Costco in years but I purchased a membership through my job and I had to go in to pick up my membership card.I went on a Saturday and I never saw so many people at one time shopping. They had all of the registers open. They are a bulk service outlet where you can buy mostly any and everything. I was able to walk around the store to familiarize myself with the products that hey have. Its very similar to Sam's where I already have a membership so I found my self trying to compare. They both carry items that are specific to their own store. Costco carry's the Kirkland line which is theirs exclusively. There is also a liquor area which is a separate building adjoining their location which you don't need a membership to shop. Their price are really good! I will come back when I am ready to restock. I will do more shopping there to see if it will move Sam's out.LOL read more

I will take this over their competitor any day. We originally came here to check out their pet foods. We don't have kids (except for the 4 - legged ones) so buying food in bulk means we just wind up wasting food. I am happy to say after reading the labels that the Kirkland brand dog foods seem to be high quality at half the price of the more expensive pet store brands. To be exact, it was about $25 for a 40lb bag of food that gets 4 stars on the dog food review sites. We decided to go with an executive membership because we were assured that the increase in membership price will be refunded if our return of investment doesn't meet or exceed it after a year. If it isn't? Well I won't have a problem letting readers know! Beyond the pet food? The K - cups are cheap and their house brand bold blend is tasty. My husband is addicted to their apple chips and chocolate covered pistachios. Their bakery is as good or better than those in most of our local grocery stores and we have even picked up a small dinner. We haven't had any issue with service at the checkout or while waiting in the long line to get our membership. We even got to walk around and look at prices to decide whether we wanted to join. We were treated just as nicely when we only bought 4 items as on day 1 when we filled our cart. So far we are pretty happy with our decision to join this co-op. Hopefully their prices remain low, unlike their competitor whose prices started to rise until they were equal to or greater than that of any local grocery or pet store. read more

Typical big box store. And you know what I discovered during my visit? Buying in bulk doesn't always mean lower prices. I had a Visa gift card that I wanted to burn. Walked in and headed straight for the detergent. I like how they had the cost per wash on the price sticker. Picked up enough too eat up the $50 gift card (which wasn't much) and headed to the check out. Lines for days yawl! But kudos to them for moving them fast. When I got to the register the young lady told me the gift card needed a pin. This is why I hate these stupid gift cards. Not only are you paying $5 to give some one money but they're so inconvenient. Just give cash for goodness sake! But I digress. Shamefully I became frustrated and just left the store without my detergent. Headed to Wal-Mart where I discovered the same detergent in smaller bottles and costing .00035 less per load. Idk what they're using to clean their shopping carts but whatever it is- shouldn't be in contact with human skin. Be careful putting your infants and children in these shopping carts they may break out in hives or rashes. Carts are dripping in what I assume is a surface disinfectant. It's great that they're trying to sanitize but it causes contact dermatitis? Trading one sickness for another lol. No thanks The greeters are grumpy and irritable, extremely snippy about masks. But the self checkout employees are fantastic! They seem like they love their job! Very helpful and socially kind. After my first visit there, I was trying to avoid them and either go to Bunker Hill or Galleria but I was on that side of town and had to return some recalled nut-butter (don't laugh) along with another item and after having an absolutely horrible day (let's just say we were victims of a crime), I didn't want to be too late at the other location and decided to give them another shot. The lady at the customer service desk was as nice as could be and after a long day, it was nice to see a smile and helpfulness. Terrible service, Yelp needs to allow a zero rating!!!! the savings aren't worth the trouble. First, they only had one brand of tire available for purchase. Next they twice sent emails that said the tires were in the store when they weren't. When the tires arrived they had no available earlier appointments (the first available appointment at purchase was 12 days later) and any walk in they said would be a drop off at 10 and not be ready till close. When I got to my appointment 25 minutes early it took 10 minutes to be seen and another hour before my car was in a stall. When it got on the lift they called because they couldn't find the wheel lock. Since the trunk was open I assumed they looked on top of the spare first, they didn't, so I looked in the other places they say they leave the wheel lock, since they were the last people to use it. Needless to say I couldn't find it, when I got back home I looked at the spare just to be sure and what do you know it was there all along. I took the car back and it would be another hour and a half to get the tires replaced. At that point they'd wasted enough of my time so I asked for a refund, only to be sent to the customer service line to wait another 20 minutes to get the refund. Honestly saving $100-300 isn't worth the trouble, go someplace that knows what they're doing. read more

This is a costco. If you've never been it's hard to describe the awesomeness that awaits you once you get inside the store. If you've been before. It's a costco. But for you weirdos who haven't been here's an explanation. This is a bulk wholesale store. And a damn fine one. They have a wonderful liquor store in front. And a tire shop to the side. Their tore prices are hard to beat and sale with the alcohol. Once you show your card and get inside you're greeted by a lot of everything. Eye glass center? Check? Huge reasonably priced tv's? Check. Their monthly specials? Check. Then greeted by the directv representative. Just ignore them, unless you want tv that's affected by storms. And over charges you after a year of service. Gross. Okay after that this is amazing. Go hungry! They have tons of samples and they are rather heavy handed with them. And they are spread out all over the store. It's kinda like a scavenger hunt but for food. It's hard to summarize everything they have in there. Just know it's pretty much everything. Plants, seafood, organic food, light bulbs, just stop reading and show up and check this place out. I also come here for the cheaper fuel. Saves you a few cents and it's too quality fuel. Oh before I forget. They are the largest pizza chain on the nation. Their pizza and greasy and everything pizza should be. Delicious. Their hot dog combo is 1.50 and hard to beat on the cheap. Costco Tire Service Center, the mechanic, Daniel, was completely unprofessional. The words that came out of his mouth while performing a simple service was uncalled for. If you did not want to do the service, please by all means, don't do it. But to sit there and have you insult my family with your passive aggressive remarks was inappropriate. Don't think we did not catch it. The recordings were made as the remarks were made. I came in with my parents to have nitrogen put into my tires. First thing, the questions about "Who owned this car? How old is your brother? Why he didn't he check it himself? Why would he tell you to get this done?..." were irrelevant to the service that was being asked to do. Then flinging my driver door to the point of flinging back on you .. was unnecessary. THENNNNNN you had the audacity to insult my family and yell at us, "See this device, it's $1.00... get one and don't waste me time! Tell your teenage brother don't waste my time!" By the way, my brother is NOT a "teenager". He is a MAN, more of man that you EVER were or IF you ever were. He gave me this car after to celebrate the last chemo session a few months ago. So thank you for being, excuse but there isn't a term that can better fit your character, an ASS. Hope you have a wonderful evening. Thank you taking what was supposed to be a special day and ruining it with your aggression. Try, if you can afford it, to take some anger management and professionalism courses. Pharmacist is rude and uncaring. I had 2 blood pressure meds and he refused to fill untill he talked to the doctor. Took him three days to do this. The extra meds were to use as emergency to get my blood pressure under control asap. I could have had a stroke or heart attack waiting on him to talk to the doctor about this medication, I've had it before so I knew what it was for. He refused to talk to me about it also. I have been loyal Costco customer for eight years. But here, this Costco, I met the rudest and most unreasonable store manager of all time. Here is what happened. Every week, I like to buy lots of groceries and stuffs from Costco, I also have a habit of retaining all receipts from Costco. So at Q3 of the year, I can review all expenses and plan for the next year, So this year in September, while doing the reviewing, i found on one receipt in April that had a mistake on it. I was charged twice on the same item but I actually only got one. So I checked Costco's policy and it says the customer can go back to the store and the Costco team will be happy to assist. So I took the receipt to the store, explained what happend and asked for refund. But the manager said "once you are out of the store, if you call immediately, you can get the refund. there is no way we can tell if you bought one or two after five months." So I told him I did the expense review and found this mistake, at the time of April, I didn't check and I wouldn't know. But the manager kept on repeating the same words that if you were just out of the store , we could refund. So I asked him to show me where in the costco handbook says this policy. He refused to provide. I told him I wouldn't lie on this as he can check my Costco's shopping history and see how many things I bought from Costco every year. He kept on saying" I didn't say you were lying". But at the same time he refused to check my receipt, refused to check my shopping history, refused to do nothing. Just stood there and hoped I could just walk away. The whole time, his attitude was terrible,typical passive-aggressive, giving the customer the feeling that this was the customer's fault certainly not his or Costco's. Ok, I can swallow this Costco's fault as it's only 20 dollars. But I have to leave this review and warn people to check their recipets carefully upon leaving Costco because you may get charged more than you actually get and some rude manager refuse and has an attitude of doing anything about it! Shame on Costco to make the customer to swallow Costco's mistake. And shame on Costco to tolerate staff to be such rude to the customer! read more

For the Costco optical department. Totally disorganized. No "line", people just waiting all around the counter. My husband was waiting behind 2 other people, one was waited on, the technician asked who was next, my husband pointed to the other guy and said "He was next, and I was after him." Then a manager said "the line is over there-a bunch of people moved over there immediately losing my husband and the other guys place. This happened before a few weeks ago when he first wanted to buy glasses, so TWICE now. Shouldn't there be a NUMBER system or a SIGN that says "line starts here?" instead of a chaotic mess? He wants to cancel our membership now because the main reason was to get glasses there. Only reason 2 stars is I bought my glasses at the Conroe Costco and they really are wonderful glasses. This review is specifically for the costco located in Katy at I10 and 99. This is my experience with few staffs and should not be considered as a negative review for the brand or other costco stuffs working here. 1. The person I had to deal with during checkout today was extremely rude. 2. My wife and 4 years old toddler were rudely asked to wait while I was taking out my Costco card. As if they are gonna create havoc if they go ahead a few steps. 3. While coming out our bags were frisked by the old lady at the checkout by opening everything. I understand people are doing there job and you should not be sensitive about it. But Costco over so many years have been absolutely the best in customer experience. And the Katy costco is such a big exception. My experience in Sugar land, Woodlands and houston costco has been nothing short of fabulous. Its unfortunate that the Katy costco is the nearest from where I live, so I have to deal with them. Oh wait I might not need to, since I can cancel the membership and can shop at the free big grocery stores around me. My advice is if you are planning to take a membership and are going to go to the Katy costco frequently think twice. After being a customer for over 14 years you would think that Costco would be willing to go the extra mile for a customer. Purchased a Tv and was supposed to get a $300 cash card. That was in August. I called in October to ask about it and noticed they were now offering a $500 cash card for the same Tv at the same price. I spent 30 min with customer service and after speaking with the guy and asking him do they could honor the new promotion he said he was able to get it pushed through. So here I am waiting for my cash card since I am trying to buy a new couch from Costco and I still haven't seen it. Called today and was told they aren't going to honor the extra $200. Thanks for letting me know that a customer that has spent over $10,000 with you this year isn't worth $200 to you. It's just me and my daughter and I chose to spend my hard earned money with Costco. I think it's a great place in terms of the value, but it's a frustration to go because of the large crowds and long lines. Today I just bought a set of tires, and I happened to be sitting on a bench right by the tire service desk when they called me to tell me my vehicle was ready. I was able to just walk right up as the next person in line, but it still took 20 minutes for the two tire service people to handle the two customers that had already been at the counter before I arrived. All I needed were my keys. For whatever reason, they also operate their checkouts like Wal-Mart where only less than half the registers are open and the lines long. For a place that people seldom spend less than $100 at a time, I'd think they could keep all registers open. read more

I love Costco, but have grown to hate their tire centers. I kept telling myself the great prices were worth the poor service. Not anymore. I had my tires rotated a little while ago and ended up having to go back two more times to get them rebalanced. Every time I go it's such a hassle. If you're not able to get there exactly when they open, you can guarantee you're going to be waiting at least a couple of hours. Even then, the last time I went there, I got there at 9am for their 9:30 opening. There was already one other guy waiting. The line grew to about 15 people before the store opened. When they opened the gate, a couple of the people behind us rushed ahead and got in line at the tire center first. When I said something to the customer and the guy at the tire center, they both ignored me and just kept going about their business. Their appointment times/availability are a joke for anyone who works during regular day time hours. The last few times I had to take and Uber to get back to work. Fortunately a coworker dropped me off after work to pick up my car. Regarding the issues of having to go back twice to get the tires rebalanced: when I dropped it off the second time, the guy made it sound like I did something to the car vs admitting their technician may have done the service incorrectly. When I picked up the car, they didn't admit the balancing was off until I asked them. And there was certainly no apology for the inconvenience or acknowledgment of the previous poor service. And finally, every time I go to get my tire pressure checked, the people are so rude. It's like they don't want to be bothered to do their job. A few times after filling up the air in the tires, the guy just walked away without even saying anything. My wife and I looked at each other and were like, "ok, I guess we're done." Came here on a Sunday and it was packed!!! It was a lot of people but you are still able to maneuver around, just slowly! There are quite a few samples out for the weekend which is nice if you are wanting a snack! Overall, even though the lines look long, it's moves fast! read more
