If you don't arrive right at 10 AM, there might not be a cart available for you at the front, so you might want to take one from the return area areas near to you in the parking lot. Always lines at this Costco, because it is so popular. The people offering samples are always very nice. The Costco staff are helpful and efficient, especially at the cashier lines. The reason I gave a 4/5 rather than a 3/5 is because of Emily and Rick at the optical department. They are very patient, helpful, informative, and always try to look for a way for you to save money, whether it's asking about your insurance, or looking for rebates. read more

I just had a very unfortunate experience at this Costco.. after a situation involving a violent and racist customer, the manager Dario approached me as if I was the aggressive person after I asked to speak to a manager. I recently had a very negative experience at the Costco Montclair location on 10/11 by the receipt checker named Sheryl. Everyone person in front of me was waved on through without a glance to their items but Sheryl stopped and went through every individual item in my cart. Sheryl was cold and rude, being a person of color I felt very racially profiled and embarrassed. I work so hard for my money and after spending almost $400, actions like make me feel sick. I called multiple times to try to place a pizza order in advance. The phone keeps ringing and timing out when calling the food court extension. I then tried calling the admin staff to ask about the wait times and even that extension timed out. I've never had experienced this with any other Costco. Been to this Costco in the past and happened to be in the area so I'm back. Nothing special except I was actually amazed that I was able to drive in and get gas with very little wait. The store was clean and the employees were nice. Can't complain that I received the standard gold member service today. read more

Sometimes I come to this Costco in Montclair and I have noticed that the employees here seem so much nicer than other Costco. I feel like this location has a ton more snacks and other items that I don't usually see. Also, they have a lot of people who are giving free samples of many different items. Usually, I come here during the afternoon and even at that time there are a lot of people but one thing is that they have a lot of cashiers ringing up people. Also nice to walk around and just see what is on sale and what you might need for the house, office, or just for a kid's birthday! They even sell pet products and food for cats, dogs, and even bird food! read more

11/24/23 Today's haul : made out like a fat cat! This is our "new" neighborhood Costco, which essentially is closer to our new place (compared to our Lakewood Costco)--I could literally walk to it, but hauling stuff home would be a mission w/o a vehicle lol. Been meaning to get the metal/alloy trash can for our kitchen & I'm glad I waited coz now it's actually $20 cheaper AND I have gift cards to use! Major SCORE. Last week it was $100 & I had planned to get it using my gift card but i didn't have it on me at the time. Definitely need the anti fatigue mat for the kitchen by the sink, Got it & it will match the floor color, too. Then a 6 foot folding table for $48 (usually $60) was too good of a deal to pass up! Everywhere I turned there were items on sale that we would definitely need. I had to muster up the courage to walk away before I bought more stuff. For Black Friday, it wasn't as crazy as I expected. Not only am I a vendor with them a long, long time member as well as Deal many times with the buyers in Issaquah for different product lines. This store has to be one of the best when it comes to treating their members and vendors with the utmost care and consideration. often we see of course employees can be kind to their customers, but this is behind the scenes when I got to see the staff in action and they were amazingly professional, courteous, and kind. Have always came to this Costco with my family, but today was a horrible experience. A lady working there named ZINA, in the clothing section was extremely rude to me and my dad who is an older guy and also multiply other ladies were standing with us waiting for her to help out but she was too busy being loud and rude with a horrible tone. And we had people who came up to us that witnessed it after and all said she should be reported. Very rude lady. Zina should learn how to have costumer service or don't come to work at all. I visited this Costco today for the first time in 11 years. It is horrific. I could spend an hour recounting what we endured there, but I left the place with a severe headache and a desire to do nothing else except to warn people. Everything that could have been done wrong was done wrong. Also, there is a fine line between "team spirit" and being so egregiously arrogant as to alienate customers for life. The cashier we suffered was one of these. Her name badge says 1991, so I guess she is doing what they want. I only give two stars because of the good prices on bulk quantities of quality products. It is not enough to bring me back. I would rather pay more money to not deal with modern Costco nonsense. read more

Came to pick up a few items for the house. There is plenty of parking. From 10:30-12:30 there are samples throughout the store.The line to pay was a bit long but it moved fast so I didn't wait long . I paid $ 3.99 for the chicken bake. Pizza slice $1.99 and 0.69 cents for the drink . What a deal and the customer service was great! Can you also order the pizza before hand so when your done shopping it will be ready. read more

They changed their policy of just renewing your membership at the register. Instead they want to make you wait in the customer service line to renew there, just so they have the opportunity to upsell you or push their credit card on you. Although signs throughout the store still say you can do it, I got a lot of attitude for not wanting to wait in the long customer service line to renew. Costco use to be very big on customer service. They use to pride themselves as a company on it. Bigger parking spots so you're not cramped, long gas pumps so it didn't matter what side your gas tank was on, one of the best return/exchange policies. But apparently they don't give a shit anymore. At least that's the impression I got from this location. Very sad, but when my membership is up, I will likely make the switch to Sam's. read more

I know big box stores are under huge pressure to de-skill workers and reduce workforce, but today was a bad enough service experience that I will reduce my business with Costco. Monday morning, huge lines halfway back to the end of the store. I was in self-check. At one point, I scanned an item ans it signalled a problem. The Costco minder came over and put them item in manually and righted the system. I finished up and paid. Zero help with heavy items. On my way out, the checker at the door realized a cheese hadn't rung up. I had to wait like a criminal at the door until a guy came up with a scanner. I thought I could pay for the cheese that the minder had not successfully entered, but no, I was supposed to go back in the store and wait at the back of another line with a cart full of things I had already paid for. Presumably, I would have to have everything refunded and re-charged to my card and spend the better part of an hour for a cheese? Come on! Costco can do better and hire more people. read more

This review is strictly for the Costco food court... Today, I hosted an event at work and pre-ordered over 100 hotdogs. We called in the order about 3 days or so ago, and stated what time we would pick them up. When I arrived today, the friendly staff directed me where to wait for the hotdogs, and they arrived shortly right after. The coolest part was that the hotdogs were placed in a tin, and the buns were totally separate so they didn't get soggy. Genius! Also, since Costco normally gives you a soda with the purchase of a hotdog, we opted for cases of water instead. I mean really, how would we get 100 sodas back to work...lol! All in all though, the ease of getting Costco prepared hotdogs for our event was a great idea. Easy to get, yummy, and everyone loved them! read more

This Costco is really good with moving the lines quick because they are always fully staffed despite being super busy. However recently the food court and gas line have been mismanage and out of control. Don't order a large pizza and a sundae because they will make you line up on the side and the normal line specially in super long peak time. Otherwise you Sundae will melt before you get your pizza or the pizza will be cold waiting for your sundae. I brought that up with the supervisor Andy. Food court staff allows people to argue inline because they won't remind the members there are three lines instead of one. Members don't seem to understand each window has a separate line painted on the floor. As for the gas pumps the turn in sign use to be far enough to allow traffic not to congest Central ave. Now the sign is immediately as you turn into the parking lot. So now pedestrian, cars and traffic are negatively affected. What's going with this Costco? It's summer temperature runs high I won't be surprise if people gets into heated argument at Costco. All can be avoided if management can take a little notice. read more

Avoid this Costco. It's always jam packed! It's probably why the cashiers aren't very friendly. Oh and do not even think about going to the tire department unless you can drop off your car for the whole day. I took my car for a flat repair and it was a couple hours!! Very poor customer service at the Montclair, CA tire center. I had an appointment and still had to wait 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged me. The employee I dealt with was rude and argumentative, making the whole experience frustrating and unprofessional. The waiting area smelled strongly of rubber fumes, and there were customers bringing in dogs, which made it worse. I ended up canceling and going to a different Costco location instead. I do not recommend this tire center. read more

The employees at this Costco are rude! It starts at the entrance and continues to the register. My brother had his leg amputated about 6mos ago and recently had a triple bypass. I pulled up in front and helped him out of the car to get a mobility scooter, unfortunately there were none at the entrance so he asked the lady who scans your card at the entrance if she could ask one of the Cart Attendants to retrieve one of the scooters from the parking lot and she told him that is not my job! We had to wait 30mins for a mobility cart to be returned with no help from employees or manager. Everytime I go to this Costco the Cashiers have no help to box items in your cart and are rushing to the next customer while I am still loading my own cart and annoyed and rude that I'm taking too long! Am I the only one that experiences this poor Customer Service ?! Also my last experience at the optical dept was terrible, the employees are rude and unhelpful. I was trying to get a membership at Montclair location today at around 10:49am but system apparently went down. I asked a kind female employee who was at the exit area checking receipts if she knew when the system would get back up. Mind you, none of us customers were yelling or complaining at this time, we were like oh shucks. The female employee asked her male coworker with glasses who was at the membership area and he was very snarky responding to her with, "I'm not corporate." I felt that was very unprofessional of him to speak like that to her in front of customers and he could have been nicer with his response such as "No sorry, I'm not sure when the system will get back up again, I apologize for the inconvenience." The female employee even apologized to me but it was her coworker that needs to be retrained on how to speak to people especially with the tone he used. read more

Food court employees are always yelling at people like they are scolding a bunch of 3rd graders. They need better signs. If you want 2 lines, then add a sign "Two lines".
