My dad uses the café service because ice cream and hotdogs are good. Rest of Costco I prefer going with him buying frozen fruit items because most of the strawberries everywhere else are too small. I use that for family strawberry weekly smoothie to Costco version actually sustains us a lot longer. It's Organic and smells good when open it, but I recommend putting it in another bag, labeling it when you purchased it and opened it. So reminds you buy again. I also pay back my dad on unsalted pistachios, I will eat when my teeth are fixed, trees we need necessary for being self-reliant, we bought bare roots I recommend Costco sell more. Roses and trees help people from empty gardens. Food items and plant life are good value, just they don't send newsletters or magazines early enough. Glassware, pots and pans aren't really showcase unless you look on the website. I have request could Costco acquire more grapefruit and banana trees. read more

I usually visit the sand city location but I was driving through Salinas so I decided to check it out. It has most of the staples/selection of any other Costco but the store itself feels much more disorganized. Perishable items are left in random aisles (I understand this is caused by customers, not staff), and there are some sanitary issues that really need to be addressed. Particularly in the restroom which looks like it hasn't been cleaned in weeks. Just look at the dust and grime in the stall. Yuck! Costco continues to provide great value on items but this location needs better management to get it up to the same standards are those in the Bay Area and Monterey, Santa Cruz, etc... read more

The worst one in my opinion. I've been to many and have been a member before this one was built. Excited for one so close to me which would cut down my drive time. Well, I'm not so excited now. I drive to Sand City Costco now for almost everything and use Salinas's for that super rare emergency. So many things are unavailable here because they cater to the demographic (smart).It's definitely not as clean and the amount of food/ products and perishables left all over the store is overwhelming at least to me. used to LOVE Costco food court BUT then they became money hungry and would only allow people with a Costco Card to get food there and it's outside! They do not care about the community AT ALL! Went in to buy 10 oz silver bars, the associate kind of ignored me the entire time because they didn't think I was serious. I bought eight of them, when the manager saw what I looked like, sweats and tattoo sleeves, he double verified my ID and method of purchase ( a debit card) and said we just have to double check you because there's been a lot of fraud, which was odd, and when they finally brought out the silver he went around me to an older gentleman assuming it was for him. We placed an order for a few pizzas for our high school club. Called in at 4:00pm. Was told we needed to wait until 7:00pm for pickup. Our meeting didn't end until 8:00pm so we agreed. Our representative arrived to pick up the pizzas and was told they were busy and would have them out shortly. He waited MORE THAN AN HOUR and at 8:15 finally just asked for a refund. Unacceptable. Apparently they prioritize online orders, even if you call-in an order three hours in advance. Everyone with mobile or online orders received their pizzas immediately. Unfair and ridiculous way to run a business. Our teacher missed the entire meeting waiting around for pizza we never got. read more

This is the most lame Costco I have ever been to. The tire center works on a skeleton staff resulting in whole day waits if you drop in to fix a flat. The grocery and merchandise inventory in this store seems to be about 75% of any other Costco and they have almost zero organic produce, despite being in the center of California's Salad Basket. Pharmacy regularly takes days to fill prescriptions, not hours. I regularly drive 30 minutes to the Sand City Costco just to avoid the continual annoyance of the Salinas Costco. read more

My mother had 4 new tires installed on her Subaru Forester yesterday. The technician stripped one of the lug studs and nut during installation of new tire. They put the stripped lug nut in a ziplock bag stapled to the invoice and said they are not mechanics, and She will have to take her car to the dealership to be fixed. They told her it is safe to drive when in fact it certainly is NOT! After speaking with Santa Cruz Subaru, they said that Costco should be held responsible. I recently lost my reading glasses and came here to have my eyes examined for new glasses. Everything was good with this part. They said the glasses would be ready in one to two weeks and I told them to notify when they were ready. Left my landline number and said I have an answering machine to leave a message in case I was not home. I never received a call and asked the male employee when the glasses were ready. He gave me a wrong date for sure and I dropped the subject. The girl was no help and I feel she really needs more training with the public. I was there on a Monday. My dad visited the Salinas Costco today and had an unsettling experience. A man who was probably a supervisor asked for his membership card at self-checkout. He also asked him if the vest that my dad was wearing was purchased earlier today. My dad is really cool so instead of being offended at the implication, he just told him the truth. That he bought it the day before at this Costco. It's strange because my mom, who has a much lighter skin tone than my dad, was also there just last week and did self-checkout. But no one asked her to show her membership card. She was also wearing clothing from Costco, but no one questioned her whether it had been paid for. This causes me to not want to purchase any more clothing from Costco, because if I go shopping at Salinas Costco, they may think that I stole it. Not a good feeling. My dad pays for our annual membership but instead of being a valued customer, he is treated with suspicion. My relative unfortunately went to the wrong line(it happens to a lot of people), waited like everyone else but still was told that she'd have to wait back in the line she was supposed to be in. I don't get that, sure other customers get mad because of someone "skipping" the line, even though it's not really skipping since they also waited in a line. DO NOT use the food court self-service kiosk I am warning you now! It gets crazy busy and you'll be waiting a loooooong time for your food, especially at this location. You'll get your food faster if you just wait in the regular pay line with the cashier. The people working at the food court don't have a good system when gathering the orders, from the kiosk which delays you from getting your food quick! I ordered a large pepperoni pizza and it took them awhile to get it to me, average pizza but what do you except for $9!?! They are obviously frozen and not prepared. Always large palettes full of food in the isles, making it hard to get through store. Fruit always has mold. The pharmacy never has medication and always have to wait till Mondays to pick up. Costco is definitely my go to spot since I can always find deals and buy in bulk! I'm grateful for their self-check out option since every time I decide to go to the employee help line, I always regret it. Many workers don't want to be there and they make it extremely obvious and take it out on us customers. Especially today with an associate named Alamo. We simply and kindly asked him to take out an item from a transaction and he right away changed his smile to a pout. He was rude during the rest of the transaction, making us feel uncomfortable. This is a review of the filet technique that was used on the salmon that was purchased this week & not on any interaction at the store. The skin was not intact (which is typically used to positively identify the type of fish being purchased). The fatty layer that's full of beneficial MUFAs & PUFAs as well as the connective tissue that's typically attached to the lateral portion of the filet is also missing. This would be significantly better scaled with the skin kept intact. Has anyone at Costco management considered hiring fishmongers previously employed by H-Mart, Nijiya, Uwajimaya or KTA? I loved going to Costco while living here because it is such a great store.. Always a huge inventory of well stocked items, all at incredible prices. And their chicken is fabulous, at such a grest price. I loved eating here too. In fact that was my favorite reason to go. The pizza is delicious, whether you go for the cheese pizza or the combo pizza. And my favorite was always the polish sausage on a warm bun. Top it with those incredible chopped onions, mustard, and that delightful sweet pickle relish. I could eat that every day. And it's such a fun place to shop at Christmas time. So many decorations. This particular Costco has some of the most helpful and friendliest staff of the Cosco's that I visit. They have a wide selection of products and as all Costco's they cater to the local demographic. The good thing is if there is a product that you need, they tend to be open to ordering it for you. The store is kept relatively clean and orderly.
