Absurd. They wouldn't return a bench I bought mere days before without a box it came in. On top of that the so called manager couldn't have been more flippant uncaring and downright just brain dead in his response to my inquiry why. He claimed their policy showed this but when he read it the policy clearly didn't state it had to be neatly boxed. So despite regretfully spending lots of money in the store previously that stops today over a 50 dollar weight bench they could've simply returned to the vendor it was in brand new condition. read more

Really disappointed in Dick's yesterday. So I purchased my son some pretty expensive jordan baseball cleats February 10th and yesterday, April 18th, the stitching on the front of the shoe came completely undone during my son's 7th game of the year! Mind you my son is only 100 pounds and isn't putting a ton of stress on these shoes. Long story short, Miguel at Dick's says that they don't do returns or exchanges after cleats have been worn and that I needed to go through nike since it's defective. Problem is my son needs new cleats now! So I bought him another pair because I can't have him playing in shoes. I then go online and start the return process from Nike only to find out that they can only send me the same pair of cleats. That wouldn't be so bad except for the fact I just spent an extra $100+ on another pair of cleats while we have to wait for nike to inspect my return and send a replacement. And now, best case scenario is im out money do to a defective product sold by Dick's and my son has 2 pairs of cleats. I feel like Miguel could have went the extra mile and just passed the buck. The cleats were dirty which probably didnt help our case but I literally came straight from my son's baseball game to the store. All in all just very bummed that what I thought would be a simple exchange and an apology for selling $165 cleats that were defective became a bit of a headache and a waste of my money. read more

Yet another Dicks sporting goods store. This place has everything! SERIOUSLY! all they need to do is put in a grocery store, pharmacy and takeout and they will have pretty much everything I need unbelievable. Let me start off by saying, if you've been to one dicks sporting goods store than you have been to ALL of them, the experience is the same no matter what location I go to. They have a great collection of appeal like; under armour, Nike and adidas. Don't get me started on their gym equipment, they have EVERYTHING! and I mean it. So apparently this store only has two shopping carts. Why is beyond me. I needed a cart as I had 3 kids with me one in particular is a baby. I had to ask 3 different sales associates to find me a cart. The first one glanced briefly looking for one and then gave up and just walked away. The second glanced around the immediate area and then gave up. The third told me he would check outside for one, he never did. Finally I went outside and found one way on the other side of the parking lot. The worst part of this trip however was that I had some little league coupons and one in particular was supposed to take 15% off a pair of pants. Noah had to manually put it and and the pants originally cost $35...he jacked the price up to $40 and then gave me the 15% off coupon!!!! So it ended up coming out to $34 for the pants. Being a woman in a sporting goods store is a terrible feeling. Today, the employee and manager who assisted me asked condescending questions, obstructed my movements, and mansplained the most stupid-obvious things. I was buying cots and the employee helping me refused to let me take them until someone came to help me, despite me insisting otherwise twice. The cots were inside the checkout counter beyond my reach. The manager who comes to take my cots out for me then says "you're not taking these backpacking, are you?" Oh, those 15-pound sacks of metal? I thought they would be great for carrying in a backpack with food, sleeping bag, water (or filter), and more for a 20-mile hike, you don't think so? I know it is "chivalrous" to carry things for a lady, but if she insists on carrying it herself, let her do it. Chivalry is dead. Respect is all you need. Offer, don't force, help on someone. Last year my daughter needed softball pants so I went to their website and we found several styles in her size were in stock at our local store. We drove to the store and discovered that nothing they showed as in stock was actually available in the store. Fast forward to back to school and we go through the same thing with a backpack. I personal have been to this store over a dozen of time. Right when it 1st open it was so clean and organized, and I feel that it's still maintained. The staff can be a bit more friendly I think they are short staff usually one person in the shoe area and two at the cash register. The others who knows, you can be standing at the dressing room for 15-20mins ringing the bell for help. I've learned to do my homework first usually i do my research for my item online and then price match the competitors online and if they have it in stock at Dicks then I will order online and pick up in the store. I do notice there is usually a sale price online, so I've had the associate price adjust the item in the store. I don't like that you have spend so much just to get $10.00 rewards! read more

I went to this Dicks sporting good store in hopes to buy a new golf club , a Calloway max driver that sells for over $400 . When I could not find an employee In the golf section I asked the girl at the register for help to remove the lock on club so I can purchase it. She proceeded to tell me the person working the golf section is the only one with key and he was on his lunch. So I asked to see a manger . She again said the only person with the key was the guy out to lunch and he would be back soon. All I wanted was to buy the club. I don't understand how a store manger doesn't have a key to everything in the store. Very disappointed in not being able to purchase what I want when I was there. I have run a non-profit group, and I set-up a display booth at different events. I bought two canopies at a very reasonable price, my inner voice kept warning me, cheap material. I bought a one year extended warranty for both canopies. I set them up for the first time on October 06, 2018. I immediately had a stress fracture. The canopy tumbled over, I walked in the store. I was treated rudely and talked down to, like I was trying to get something for nothing. I left the store contacted ASURION protection plan, I'll get my full reimbursement and that is it. NEVER ORDER ONLINE FROM DICK'S. They screwed up my order and cost me six days. Completely ruined my camping plans. I ordered a Camp Chef 2-Burner Propane Stove last Thursday. The shopping cart said it would be here 7/11, Saturday. It wasn't. I got on Chat and Esther B said it was standard shipping and would arrive in six more days. When I told her I had been lied to, she said to call on the phone and request the order be speeded up. I tried several of the menu options and none of them led to a live person. They suggested I use Chat! Great, huh? Who are these people, to mistreat customers so? So I went back to Chat and told Cesar he'd better speed up my order or I would describe the whole mess to Yelp, and no one has written. Needed a pair of baseball shoes for our Grandson. The website and chat said there wasn't anything in his size within 100 miles. I called the Salinas store and Sandra answered and explained how the inventory works. If they are very low in stock, the website says they are out. She offered to check their stock and call me back. She called back a little later and said she had a pair in his size and she'd hold them for us. We drove the 30 miles to the store and what she had didn't fit but the shoe guy found another pair and it was just what we needed. Our Grandson was set up for his baseball camp the following day. I stopped in her briefly today for their grand opening. I was rather surprised by the selection. I'm not much of a stick & ball fan, so the baseball/basketball/football sections didn't really interest me. However they appeared to be stocked with standard fair at reasonable prices. Similarly, the golf section is not my cup of tea. However it appeared to be well stocked with a wide range of choices. The firearms section appeared rather limited, though I don't have much of a problem with them keeping stock reduced considering the store is in Salinas. But the staff behind the counter was friendly & knowledgeable. They could stand to have a better selection of optics, but it was satisfactory all things considered. There were plenty of gear options for the fishing crowd, including a wide range of rods, reels, lures & other tackle. Prices are competetive. They have limited boating accessories, but also have canoes & kayaks which appeared to be well priced. I didn't spend a lot of time in the exercise equipment area, but did take a quick pass through. Several free weights & other equipment. The elypticals appeared to be a bit pricey from what I've seen elsewhere, though I did not take a close enough look to determine if they are of higher quality or offer more features. Overall, the staff seemed friendly & competent, though they were understandably busy on their opening weekend. I definitely plan on heading back once things have settled down a touch for them & I find the need to update my fishing gear or other outdoor supplies. read more

I went in needing a pair of running shoes and when I inquired about the brand I like, the lady that came to help me didn't even try to look and just said that was all she had was what we saw on the shelf. When I found another pair that I wanted to try and inquired about a sock she brought me a nylon... Which does not get an accurate assessment of how it will fit with a sock. You would think a sports store would be aware of this? When I asked about my size in a brand she pointed where to look. She was not busy helping anyone else. I would rather spend my time and money with people that cared. Look for somewhere else to shop. These employees care nothing about you, their job, or this store and it shows. read more

One star for the kid who works in lodge department. (Firearms) I would have given zero otherwise. Why? I recently moved from Santa Cruz county to Monterey county. Since I live in the open spaces of a ranch, I need a squirrel popper so my horses don't throw a hoof from all the holes those rodents make. Dick's is fairly close. The kid was really cool. He did the best he could to make a sale even though one of the rifles scope fell off and bolt got stuck open. Savage rifle .22lr I settled (which was my mistake) on a Remington .22lr Why 1 star? It's not the fact I had a long wait or had to take another California required test along with a handgun safety certificate that I already had. Not because they wouldn't accept cash as payment for the certificate. And it's not the 11 day wait period. Or the attitude from the DOJ rep. Wasted time or gas.... Now like I said, I moved recently and they needed proof of residency. No problem. I used my car registration. I go to pick up the rifle and the lodge lead asks me why was there two forms filled out? I guess because they messed up by putting my old address of my DL. Then he asked why the certificate they gave me was not signed by them? I don't know.... Obviously this guy is thorough but, it's their screw-ups. Not mine. I didn't appreciate the instant attitude towards me. I have more than 6 items and am not new to this. So here's the real reason I will never go back to Dick's. My car registration expired during the 11 day wait period. They would not release the rifle. I made him call the manager and regional manager. They all said no. WTH? I argued that I have a receipt for the new registration and it hasn't arrived yet. And I could provide all kinds of other bills with my name. NOPE. They were so quick to fix their mess ups but since my new registration hasn't came yet, they won't take anything else as proof unless we start the 11 day wait all over again. I'm not going to wait for the illegals to go at DMV 1st and pay another 20 bucks for something that was valid at time of purchase. And then take the new registration and fudge the documents again. Give me a refund! Screw that place. Don't buy a firearm there unless you want to jump through hoops. To top it off the lodge lead whose name should be the store name said sorry it didn't work out. This review is for the firearms department. Now I understand following rules, but I've been here 4 times, each with different paper work to bring in. I was here yesterday with my DMV registration card. Filled out the DROS paper and couldn't enter it into the system because it's a PO Box. They make sure to tell you to read carefully. I did. I even finished before the guy who filled out the paper wrong 3 times and was on his 4th. WTF. That makes sense. Fine. I'll go to the DMV, which is always a joy. Pay the $19 fee for it have the physical address on it. Great. Check. Done. Today, filled out the DROS paper work again. Wait....wait....wait. I waited 1 1/2 hours for the department manager to tell me the district manager will not accept the DMV registration, which I went specifically to get, because it does not have the correct city. Right, because the DMV is only allowed to put ONE city. Therefore, it's obviously going to be the mailing address city NOT the physical address city. It takes 90 minutes and 4 days to tell me that?!?! Again, I understand the background check and waiting period. No problem. Straight from CA Office of Attorney General's Website: http://oag.ca.gov/firearms/resprf I had a utility bill with 3 months. I could do 6 months or more. They still would not take it. I understand he is doing his job, but waiting 1 1/2 hours for nothing is stupid. I wish they could have figured it out earlier or even have this POLICY WRITTEN somewhere to save others time. Tips for those of you looking at firearms at Dicks: - DROS fee: $25 - 11 day waiting period. Not 10 as per the state of wonderful CA - If your address does not match exactly as you wrote it on the DROS form and what is says on the DMV registration, just save yourself time and get a request for proof of vessel information. $5 fee and waiting for a 3rd time at the DMV. Oh joy. How priceless -____- Question: Why not just never go into Dicks again? For one, there are only 2 other places to purchase firearms. Two, they can lick my balls before I give up. Ugh. I was debating if a review was even worth it considering that everyone already has had a terrible experience with this store but here goes nothing. My partner and I were looking around for trail running shoes, and their variety was minimal, so we decided to look around the store. As we looked at headgear, a male kid comes behind us and just starts "sorting" I did not care about them thinking we might be thieves because we people of color are used to that. What bothered me the most is that this kid was within a 6-feet distance, the store could care less about a WORLDWIDE pandemic. I mean I could hear him breathing. We walked away from that situation, and the male kept following us around to the point it only became uncomfortable. Anyway, NOT ONCE did the manager or any of the other seven employees ask us if we needed something or acknowledged us. Keep in mind this was an hour prior to closing time, so we were the only ones in the store--so many employees yet not one pleasurable encounter. We simply left, we believe we vote with our money, and DICK's is definitely on our blacklist. I'd suggest Big 5 or REI in Marina! read more
