I had a disappointing experience with manager Ashley regarding a Costco return for an artificial Christmas tree with LED lights that failed after about 7 years of very light seasonal use. I explained clearly and respectfully that LED lights are generally expected to last much longer under normal use, and that this did not seem like unreasonable wear and tear. What made the experience more frustrating was how strict and dismissive the interaction felt. Instead of focusing on the actual issue, I was questioned about where I do most of my Costco shopping, which felt irrelevant and unnecessary. I stood my ground because I was not trying to abuse the return policy. I was simply asking for fair consideration based on the nature of the product and how lightly it had been used. I have shopped at Costco for years and have not had this kind of experience before. I understand policies matter, but customer service and reasonable judgment matter too. Don't come before 19am! Turned away at 9:33 as told only executives allowed. I think they could have made an exception as I was with cart and ready to roll! No signage indicating only for executives at this time. Note Costco use to always let people in early that's why I use to appreciate their customer service! Restocking our home at this Costco is usually a quick and easy experience. Compared to the Oxnard location, we definitely prefer coming here. The store itself is consistently clean, organized, and easy to navigate, which makes getting in and out with everything we need pretty painless. That said, I do understand some of the reviews mentioning the staff's demeanor. We've encountered a few employees who seemed like they'd rather be anywhere else, but we've also had some genuinely kind interactions. In particular, the gentleman working in the eyeglasses area stood out for being especially friendly and helpful, which we really appreciated. Overall, this location works well for us and we'll definitely keep coming back. A little more enthusiasm from some of the staff would make the experience even better, but the cleanliness and convenience keep us returning. read more

I got my first Costco membership about 3 months ago. Good prices on certain bulk items. Good prices on select electronics. Meat is same price as Kroger/Vons, with Less Selection. Fewer brands available. Vegatables and Produce mediocre. I probably will not renew next year. read more

With the exception of a very few, most of their employees are rude and seem like they can't be bothered. Also, why have they removed all the "green" organic signs from products? What an inconvenience to walk down an isle and hunt for the organic stuff. Why do they have to constantly move things around where you have to hunt for them. A marketing ploy maybe? I don't understand why people don't all become Costco members; some might be crowded but Simi Valley Costco is an exception to the rule, lines are quick and staff for the most part are kind and nice. Membership is of course a must but overall, it's worth the savings and services they provide. Also, if you sign up for the Citibank credit card, you'll get back your membership fees, twice...either from the bank itself or Costco. Their gas is often cheaper than most in any area and they are accessible in most states including other countries like Japan. I was a U.S. scholar in Japan and was surprised to see a whole new Costco in Osaka, sushi, restaurants and the finest food there is to enjoy. I also don't understand why people give them lower than 5 stars since it's the best we have for groceries, gas and whatever you need to save. Yes, some of their staff are rude sometimes and if you share your thoughts with management, they will act on your thoughts. I'm not sure what is going on with the staff at Simi Costco, but they all seem to hate working with the public! Zero personality and if you ask a question, you get some nasty snap back answer. The employees at the front" counting items" can kiss my a**! You're definitely not counting my items or the person next to me, because you would have noticed that the checker had put several of my items in someone else's cart! I'm posting this review about the sellers at the kiosks while getting your receipt checked at the exit, to be specific: Eco Water systems. Costco works with different companies, including Eco Water systems. We decided to give them a shot due to needing filtering water on my property to not get hard water. We trusted this company since they're working with Costco but that wasn't the case. When calling the company to come to do the contract with them, they personally came to my home, no big deal right? Once getting the water filters installed, they sent out contractors that is NOT Eco Water systems (just imagine contacting AT&T to install WiFi but they send boost mobile company instead). They installed it in a location I didn't approve of , but they didn't want to do the extra work of moving the water system somewhere in the shade (red flag #1). Did our regular maintenance on it how we were taught, and one day it suddenly broke, and was leaking water for two whole days (just imagine how much water was wasted and our high water bill cost). We called EcoWater systems, got three different numbers to call to see who can help us fix it. The contractors that installed it originally were not working with EcoWater systems anymore, so another company/contractor came to fix it. We had to pay $100 for them to even come take a look at it (red flag #2), the company than later said the faulty is broken due to the placement the previous contractor did (red flag #3) and will be a $180 an hour repair cost *NOT INCLUDING PARTS* according to the contractor on site. Also, the contractor did a to "quick fix " in the mainwhile we situate the parts, finding out later he let a TON of water leak out (AGAIN another high water bill coming). I then called Costco about this situation and have not heard anything back to fix the situation, all they offered was the call the company EcoWater systems to tell them the cost I must pay (which I was told it would be $150 an hour, and will need two hours although it will be a 15 minute repair, red flag #4, how did it randomly change from $180 to $150?) now I have two different contractors trying to contact me to fix the situation, yet no real solution. Since the first contractors at fault, yet they don't work with EcoWater, they can't take responsibility of the problem. It's a shame this the face of Costco, it makes the company look bad for us doing business. So whatever you do, DO NOT HIRE ECOWATER SYSTEMS!!!! read more

This costco is always well stocked and if you need help with finding something they go out of their way to help you out. The clothes section is always organized and the deals are awesome. I have been a Costco member for years. And have enjoyed them all over the country. This Simi Valley Costco is the worst one so far. 1. Confusing and traffic congestion layout both in the store aisles and the parking lot. 2. Probably the worst employees and I have dealt with. Semi-rude and less interested in helping customers. 3. Cashiers consistently causing a cart back up that stacks into the aisles making the last 10 minutes of your trip to Costco a nuisance as people try to pay for items and others are trying to squeeze by to shop. 4. Item return area takes significantly longer than others I have experienced. Last time I was there, it took 15 minutes to return an item. 5. They partnered with Car Keys Express which is known to lie about dealership key replacement costs in order to scam business. I have not experienced a "good" part about this specific location yet. Improvement options: Move the cash registers further from the aisle and rethink your aisle and merchandise management to allow for a better flow. Hire new employees with better attitudes. People want to work for Costco! Start replacing the tires and bitter ones with new employees eager to help the customers. I have organized my cart by weight and barcode and placed the lighter weight items on the conveyor belt, trying to help with the checkout process. This cashier started putting 90% of the stuff back into the cart one at a time with attitude like I had done something against her personally; just weird employee attitudes. read more

They don't still have Christmas up any longer. 1/11/23 ** Can't believe I haven't posted a review lately for our go-to Costco. Do I take it for granted? Maybe so. Actually, Dear Hubby is the major Costco shopper in the family. He probably goes 5 to 10 times for each one time that I visit. He's retired / I'm still working. Could be why! Though it's just the two of us, we have enough room to store the large packages of paper goods, which usually comes out cheaper than making multiple trips to other stores for smaller quantities. We don't get as many food items unless we happen to have freezer space, because those amounts are too much for us. I hate having to throw food away, and we can't get through the outsized containers of things like hummus, or even fresh fruit. We order our glasses through their optical department, which is always a great deal compared to other vendors. They initially quote two weeks to fill prescriptions, but it's usually a week or less before they call and the order's in already. Seasonally they have brand name sunglasses as a feature item. I got some really nice RayBans there that saved me quite a bit. Recently picked up some electronics for business that were a definite good deal compared to another store that I often use. It does pay to comparison shop! The team members are usually friendly and helpful at this location. I prefer it to Westlake Village store because it always seems like more of a madhouse over there. The Simi store is busy, of course, but it doesn't feel like the shoppers are frantic. It's more laid back, and does have the benefit of the gas station when you've got time / patience to wait in line to save on gas. They definitely move seasonal merchandise - lots of Christmas decorations and trees are ready to go now, with lit displays to catch the eye. There's always something new. It's a mix of name brand items and also their Kirkland brand. They do extensive testing on their Kirkland items to make sure that they meet quality standards, so most often you will be happy with that brand. I'm really grateful that my employer pays for our annual membership as one of my work perks. We use that benefit, for sure! read more

Came to see a diamond ring that I put on hold and drove out about an hour, got here ring was too small, but found another one better, but first had to return my Christmas gift bc it fit too small, then purchase new one. Wento returns dept and they gave me such a hard time grilling me with questions like "why are you returning at this Costco if you bought this at another Costco? And why can't you return over there? Why do you have so many returns?" I said "if I'm not satisfied with an item I thought I could return it?" Like WTH? One star for the attitude. I usually have great experiences at Costco, but this visit left a bad taste. Around 8:00 PM, I went to check out with about 10 items. The cashier, Brian H, and his assistant had no customers in line. The assistant began unloading my cart onto the conveyor belt right away, which I appreciated. Trying to make friendly small talk, I asked the cashier if he was looking forward to getting off soon since the store closes at 8:30. His response? "I look forward to customers putting their items on the conveyor belt." Really? That's not the kind of response you expect from someone working in customer service--especially when his assistant was already helping. It came off as rude and unnecessary. Costco is known for great service, but this was disappointing. I hope management sees this and reminds Brian H that a good attitude matters, especially in a customer-facing role. It is a great place to gas up the car. The price is normally $.20 cheaper than the other stations. The price of most of the items that they sell is cheaper than the regular stores but the sizes are a lot bigger. If it is a non perishable and you have the room it is well worth the price. read more

Purchased $100 gift card. Gave it to my daughter to get her own membership. She spent $35.00. Since that she or us cannot access the balance $65.00. Daughter spoke to Costco customer service they suggested go to store. My wife and I spoke to the Simi store waited 1.25 hours 3 weeks ago to no avail. Told us to call some card 800 no as they have more access. No luck. Spoke to customer service yesterday they said next time buy the card in line so more control and go back to the Simi store and speak to the store Mgr. to resolve. This issue going on for over two months. NEVER buy a Costco gift card as no one knows how to resolve if there is an issue with it. Pretty sad that this size company cannot resolve issue for a 28 year membership. Pathetic. read more

What can I say, I love Costco. Not sure why in the world there would be 3 stars for any Costco. Every Costco I have visited from the mainland to Hawaii, always have an excellent experience. Costco has amazing deals and great quality. Their Kirkland brand rivals any out there. This particular Costco has their food court outside; which may not be ideal for some, but no issue for me. The Hot Dog and Soda is still a $1.50 after many, many years. Weather you are in the mood for snacks, need to go on a grocery run, looking for tires, furniture or just cruising the aisles getting free samples, etc. Costco has you covered. They also have an amazing return policy and the stores are clean and welcoming. You do have to have a membership to shop there, but you will end up getting more cash back than your membership cost is with basic shopping. Gas alone is worth it, that will save you a good amount of cash over the course of a year. Don't forget to take advantage of all their other services beyond the big box. Enjoy! read more

Visited this Costco today because it's not in LA county and under the mandatory mask mandate... yet. Fingers crossed that it does not happen. I was doing other shopping out this way and wasn't going to go to Costco because I thought it would be too crowded. Boy was I wrong! I pulled into the parking lot to check it out and found a relatively close parking spot. There actually were several! Entry was easy. The store was organized, well stocked and clean. The employees were friendly and helpful to those who needed assistance. Despite there being relatively no wait in the checkout line, because I had never seen a self checkout at a Costco before, I used self checkout. It was fast and easy with zero wait. The only thing I didn't like about this Costco was the line to exit the parking lot. It wasn't terrible but then again, it wasn't a busy day. Hopefully, there is another way out that I just I don't know about... For now (and possibly for awhile), this will be my go to Costco. read more

Costco makes the place less overwhelming to shop when I ask where to find what I am looking for to the employees. been shopping at simi costco for years, usually i have no complaints and look forward to going there. but now i dread it because the last few trips have been negative. mostly it has been poor employee attitudes. where have all the pleasant helpful employees gone? i sure miss them. and it used to be if you asked for a manager you got someone interested in fixing the problem. my last trip was awful, i couldn't find a few things on my list, and 2 of them were things i have bought before but they weren't where i remembered them being. couldn't find any employees in the aisles so had to wait long time after checkout for someone to look up items , she was obviously new and took very long time at computer. person sent to retrieve items took very very long time. it felt like i was there for an hour after i had already shopped and checked out. no one cared! what is important to them? certainly not customer service. i very rarely return anything, just a couple times in 30+ years but i know it is usually hassle free. well, no longer. a couple of months ago i was given a very long interrogation, good grief the woman must have been trained by the FBI. it was a $9 item! i even forget what exactly but was a jar that broke upon opening and spilled everywhere in the kitchen. i do not have strong hands, something defective. totally not worth it. maybe that is what's behind the bad attitudes! making it so unpleasant to deal with them that customers won't! well it worked on me! i will not be shopping at costco when i can go to other stores or online. saving a few dollars isn't worth the hassle. read more

If you are black you will get profiled. While walking in with about 7-10 more people who were white and Asian. Me the only black female was yelled out to show my membership card.! I turned around and said I have it and kept walking . Then the associate name "Casey" a older Asian man demanded I show my membership card While he let 10 more people go by without showing their membership card. It was so obviously uncomfortable a lady and her daughter said to me oh wow he didn't even ask me or my daughter I was sure he was going to try and search you next in a joking matter because how clear of day he was racial profiling me. Hi have been shopping this location from the day they opened. For the past two years this location has gone way down hill and is not of the caliber that we've all come to expect from Costco Their selections are mediocre at best. They run out or discontinue items at this location only to be found at another Costco 20 minutes away. Their staff are of no help, the team that used to work at this Costco was there for years. They were friendly and helpful. This current team are not helpful what so ever. They all seem ready to just tell you you can get a refund on your membership if you are not happy. I left this location recently with a $60 cart. My purchases have averaged $175 - $250 every week their prior to now. When the shelves are empty and their selection is nill then you need to start going to other stores to find what you need. My city does not need mediocre. Nothing against Costco and I like this Costco but definitely was not ready when I returned frozen chicken and Jessica A. made me feel like $h!t for returning it. I got home and realized that not only did I have another bag in my freezer but after putting everything i had just bought I didn't have room for the bag. I decided to go back right away not knowing that they can't put it back. She had to make a point of telling me that I should be more careful when I buy any food as they can't put it back and it has to be thrown out! My first thought was..... Crap now I feel bad then I thought well why can't it be donated to a food bank.
