Originally was going to give this place 1 stars , due to the lack or professionalism from the worker helping me. I had gone 2 times first time I had went I felt as if I was rushed and I was never given my quote. Following day I had came 45 minutes before closing only for the young lady to be locking up the store due to an emergency. Up until today I went in and the young man victor was an absolute gem!!! Cottage came highly recommended by neighbors. Prices were comparable to the Big Box discounters with a much better selection, both in style and color. Tom was great to work with, and helped us deal with a few mistakes. With Anna we had confusion, delays, and a general feeling of animosity; so we asked not to work with her. But it turned out that--due to a holiday for Tom--she was involved throughout, unfortunately for us. Thus only 4 stars. Our carpet installation was in two stages with two different installers. We preferred Steve. His seams were invisible, his stairs a work of art. So get Steve, if you can. read more

We hired them to lay tile in our kitchen, entry way, and in two bathrooms. Our experience? Oh where to begin... The contractors they provided were rude, and actually yelled at my wife who was 6-7 months pregnant at the time, because she asked them about the massive dust clouds rolling throughout the house from the demolition of some old tile in the entry. Only after she said something, did they then decide to put up plastic. Worse yet, when they finished the grouting work, they cleaned off the equipment in my front yard killing a 5'x5' square of my lawn. (forcing me to later replace the whole thing) The tile we chose was very nice looking, but in areas around bathroom fixtures you could see that not a lot of care was taken, and I saw some cracking within the first year. We noticed that when they replaced the base boards, there was no attempt to align them, and in one case two ends meet at a corner with nearly an inch of offset. The color of the grout is very inconsistent, and appears to have dark patches in places. To top it all off their answer to sealing the grout was to hand us two cans of sealant. After paying ~$4k, I was appalled and I regret actually paying the bill. Do not make the same mistake. Don't use them! read more

Had linoleum installed in an older bathroom. Due some previous water damage, some new particle board and linoleum would have to be added prior to the installation of the new flooring. I was a bit nervous about how this would work out. The installer arrived on the minute of his scheduled arrival time. The couple of times I checked on how is was coming along (while he was out at his truck) I could see how he exceeded what I had expected. It was all skimmed, leveled, etc. Really nice work. It looks wonderful. Better than I had hoped. Installer was professional, courteous, and did a SUPER job. The staff at the store were friendly and knowledgeable. Great work at a good price. Called Cottage Floors at 9:00 am, Ana was in my house whipping her tape measure around at 11:00 am the same day. She brought just the right samples of kitchen linoleums based upon what I told her I was looking for and with her excellent guidance the deal was set in a matter of 30 minutes. Less than one week later her efficient crew was waiting for me when I got home and had the floor installed in just under 3 hours. The installers were very helpful in assisting me to move a few pieces of furniture and took ultra care not to chip my brand new granite counter when pulling out the fridge (very tight squeeze). Ana even followed up with a phone call to make sure everything was taken care of to my satisfaction. Now to plant a new money tree so they can install laminate flooring in the rest of my house. About 2 weeks ago I went into this establishment to look at vinyl flooring. There were two ladies sitting at the front desk and one of them greeted me. There were no other customers in the store at the time, only myself. The store associate that helped me was Ally. I found Ally to be extremely friendly and very helpful. We looked through samples for at least and hour. I was quite pleased with what they had to offer. Ally took some notes on the colors that I liked, explained her ordering process, the product levels, lead-time, etc. I thanked her for her time and stated that I would be in touch. I appreciated her eagerness to help me. The next day I called Ally and explained to her that I had found another vinyl comparable to what was in their store, at another location. I had chosen a mid-level vinyl with cushion backing. I asked Ally if there was anything that she could do in regards to the pricing. She told me that she would need to speak with her Manager Ana first. I could hear another woman speaking in the background after every question I was asking Ally. It became very annoying and I asked her who that person was. Ally stated it was her manager Ana. I asked if I could speak with Ana directly instead of going back and forth with answers to my questions when she was right next to her (makes sense right?) Ana got on the phone and I politely told her who I was and told her it would be best to speak with her directly. She proceeded to tell me "I was sitting right next to Ally training her." Well, now is not the time Ana, I would like to direct my questions to you if you don't mind. I explained to Ana about the pricing and my selections and she RUDELY told me she could not do anything about the pricing because the vinyl at the other location had to be exact! "It has to be apples to apples not apples to oranges!" "I am going to put you on hold and look at the other brand myself" Long story short.....Ana Guerrero is extremely rude for being an Operations Manager. She did not conduct herself in a professional manner at all!! I was in shock and appalled in the manner in which she spoke to me. I came into your place of business, was happy but after this experience, Ana, you have left me with a bitter taste in my mouth. I WILL NEVER recommend this business to anyone based on your pissy attitude and rude demeanor!! I am the customer...I did nothing to you however, you showed me zero respect. Unfortunately, I read the one star Flooring reviews only after visiting Cottage Floors to purchase (I hoped) LVP underlayment. I was talking to a sales person named Jaimie who was very pleasant. I remembered her from the first time my husband and I came into the store. At the time we were not sure whether tile or LVP was the right product for us. Well...back to the encounter of today...out of nowhere comes an unintroduced female, I assume to be "Ana" the manager who started rapidly firing questions at me about my flooring project. She disagreed with almost everything I said. Even telling me that you don't have to seal cracks in a concrete foundation floor before laying LVP. I was sharing details about my particular LVP product. No respect for either myself or Jaimie. I continued trying to be polite, and began to answer her questions, believing, she may go away after satisfying her curiosity. But NO...one question led to another and another in what I can only describe as some sort of weird customer interrogation. Many things she said was ridiculous and she came off as a know-it-all. She spoke as though she were a licensed flooring contractor. And, I highly suspect she's not. It appeared as if the sales workers feared her, because they did not attempt to interject anything more into the conversation after she had interrupted and monopolized it. Jaime, if you read this GET OUT! Your customer service skills are too good for that place. Find an employer who will appreciate you and respect you when you are conversating with a potential or future customer. And to the Owner, if you are reading this, please give some attention to the customer service issues at your store. read more

WOW, I can't remember the last time someone was that rude to me. I went in here to look at some flooring for our kitchen and was having a wonderful experience with the very pleasant sales person Brianna. Then..the Manager Anna (who told me she was the owner but is not apparently) barged in and started hijacking Brianna's sale I assume. Anna who I will just refer to as RAP (Rude Ass Person), started firing questions at me like I was under a hot lamp in an interrogation room being questioned about a murder. She wanted to know if I had an installer and who it was. She asked at least a half dozen times who he was and what his name is, like this was somehow relevant to us shopping product and getting prices. She was extremely rude the way she spoke to my wife, her sister and also myself. I am a grown adult who was just mistreated and was so stunned I didn't even return the attitude to her. We all just walked out to remove ourselves from her radius of abuse. Don't go here unless you want to be mistreated (unless you can get in and out without RAP demeaning you in ways you thought wouldn't happen by a store you figured would be happy to get a sale and commission. If you could deal only with Brianna you would be ok, but since RAP is the manager and thinks she is the owner she will probably insert herself into your transaction and spread her misery. read more

This business has been absolutely horrible to deal with. I would like to share my story, so that others may avoid this place and the troubles that my husband and I have been dealing with. A few months ago, my husband and I purchased a home and wanted to get porcelain tile placed in our carpeted dining room. The existing tile in the rest of the house was also porcelain and the previous home owners left us the name of the tile, and also where they purchased it (Cottage Floors). Since the previous owners bought the tiling at Cottage Floors, we decided to use them as well so that we could get the same tile. We purchased the flooring from a salesman named Art, who seemed a little clueless, but nonetheless we had the flooring installed about two weeks later. When the installers arrived at my home, they noticed that there was obviously a problem. The porcelain tile was much rougher than our existing tile...it almost looked unfinished. When I brought this up, the installers said that it would not be a problem and once it is down and I mopped it a few times it would look exactly like the existing tile. I trusted what they said, and did not mention the problem again. However, the problem did not end here. After 2 months, the new porcelain tile looked completely horrible. After mopping it repeatedly, the tile never gained shine or looked close to what our other tile looked like. Because of the rough texture of the tile, cleaning residue consistently built up on the floor until it was a complete eye sore. The floor looked essentially completely unfinished....horrible. I decided to call Cottage Floors and to speak with a manager, as I felt after paying over $3,000 I should receive a much better quality flooring. I spoke to Ana, who was completely rude and blamed US for cleaning it improperly. Even though I tried to explain that this floor was like this upon installation and that this was completely unacceptable, she was unconvinced and extremely unhelpful. I told her I would like someone to come out and look at the flooring right away as I didn't even want to put furniture down in the room it looked so terrible. She sent Art, our salesperson, and the installer out to look at the floors. They tried to convince me that it was again MY fault, and that the floor was perfectly normal. They attempted to do a poor job of "cleaning" the floor, which still looked horrible when they were finished. Something is WRONG with these people because EVERY single person who has looked at my floor from the beginning says how terrible it looks and asks what is wrong with it! Art, our salesperson, was not knowledgeable about the flooring at all, and obviously has a social problem. He is very difficult to speak to and have a conversation with. He was not helpful throughout this process at ALL. At the end of this visit, Art said that he would send me information on how to seal the tile, which he said was probably the problem. A few days later, I received an envelope in the mail from Art. It contained a paper on how to clean CLAY flooring and a page ripped out of the phonebook for a tile cleaner!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? I do NOT have clay flooring, and why did he send me information on cleaners when he said the tile needed to be sealed? Cottage Floors, you HAVE to be kidding me!!! How could you hire someone so dense and unhelpful?! I proceeded to call Art again and tell him how ridiculous this was and how someone needed to come out and fix this flooring or replace it. He told me he could not help me any further and that he would have a manager call me. Since this time, no manager has ever called me back. My flooring is still a complete disaster, and my floor will likely never be fixed. Since, I have also had several professionals come out to look at the flooring, and all of them say that this flooring was a bad batch and should NOT have ever been put down on my floor. They all say that the tile cannot be sealed and the only thing that can be done is replacing it. I am filing a complaint with the better business bureau and may have to take them to small claims court to try to get this fixed. What a nightmare!! Please, I am begging all of you...NEVER use Cottage Flooring in Gilroy!!! This has been such a horrible experience for our family. If I could give them 0 stars, I certainly would! They are inexperienced and shady, and I feel completely duped. I am currently telling every single person I know to never use this horrible company unless they want their floors completely ruined. read more

I recently bought a condo and was looking to replace both the downstairs and upstairs flooring. A friend referred me to Cottage Floors and I am glad she did! When I went in I was greeted right away by Ana and she was friendly, helpful, and very professional. I told her what I was looking for and we got right to work. I wanted a more rustic looking dark hardwood and she pulled a few samples to start. She was very attentive and as soon as I saw the samples I was able to give her feedback wanting it darker or more "scraped". Ana was very helpful and pulled many more samples for me and even suggested that we take a look at them in different lighting so I could see what they would look like during the day with natural light and at night with lamp light. I was also on a budget that I had discussed with her upfront and I value and honor sales people who don't bring the most expensive stuff out just to have you fall in love and realize you can't afford it. That would have ruined my experience if she would have done that, but instead she took my budget into consideration and showed me different flooring at the low end and higher end of what I could afford. Once my order was in and all measurements were taken, the floors seemed to be delivered fairly quickly. The team of installers showed up at the right time and communicated with me what they were going to do before they did it. I was very impressed with the professionalism that they had and their work ethic. They worked very hard and were very polite when asking me any questions. Ana even called during the process to make sure everything was going smoothly! (Great customer service!!!!) Overall, I am highly impressed with this company and would recommend it to anyone looking for flooring. Jennifer Garcia is amazing. She really searched for the best price for new carpet for us and told us new pad would be a "waste of money!" She is honest, fair, and funny too! She showed me many remnants that I could choose from and selected a lovely carpet that is almond color with a pattern. So beautiful! We are pleased and impressed. The installed it quickly and cleaned up after themselves. They showed up on time, got right to work, and finished before noon. read more

I am a kitchen designer who has been recommending Cottage Floors for the last 13 years. They are very competitive with big box retail prices and offer products that you can't get at those stores. The service is really exceptional and personalized. Recently my client was having trouble deciding on materials and Ana let me check out samples and recommended an installer who is a certified for the product. She explained that Cottage floors wants to take responsibility for the products they sell but can only do so if it's installed by qualified people. I really appreciate this resource. I had another client that DID NOT use a certified installer and he used the wrong glue for the flooring. While this was not Cottage Floors fault they sold her replacement material at a greatly discounted price and recommended an installer that did a great job. read more

Unfortunately, this business has changed. We had always used them for our flooring needs, but our recent experience was horrible. The Manager, Ana, was rude during the bidding process and the final inspection. The installers did not clean up after themselves, including tile mortar splashed on our cabinets. They also scratched my stainless steel farm sink apron. When they moved the French door refrigerator, they were so rough that the ice maker in the bottom drawer stopped working and I had to call a repair person. The Manager told me upon final inspection, that it was "impossible" that the installers did that. read more

I am so pleased with my Cottage Floors experience. We had a water leak and had to have our entire first level floors replaced as well as kitchen cabinets removed and put back, granite replaced...the list goes on. So this was not a remodel we'd planned or were prepared to have. Ana was amazing! She not only advised on replacement product type but worked within the insurance budget as I requested. Cottage Floors has a large selection of floor types, prices and styles. Our new floors and install are beautiful! We'd never dealt with an insurance claim or a remodel of this magnitude. Ana was a wonderful resource; she advised us on a number of things. Ana also handled moving out all our furniture, arranging for a storage pod to be delivered to our driveway, and provided great recommendations for granite suppliers. Ana was involved throughout the process and was at our home daily during the installation. Her install team was able to reach her when needed and any questions we're handled quickly and professionally. They truly work as a team rather than just a hand-off to the install team. I am impressed with the attention to detail, flexibility, and customer service. Because of 4 layers of flooring (from previous owner) there were a few challenges and Ana and her team provided options that met the look and quality we expected. For example, for our raised tiled fireplace hearth, they worked hard on a trim solution that allowed us to keep the tile we love. It's beautiful. Everyone was polite and professional, and Kevin kept in contact with me every step of the way. Working with a general contractor I have had many interactions over the years with Ana from Cottage Floors and her installers. She has been our main flooring subcontractor and always does a thorough and professional job. She has done projects for us all over the bay area ranging from high end restaurants to office carpeting to certified clean-rooms, cottage floors does it all. They even refinished and stained the hardwood in my house, which turned out to be one of the best things we could have done to improve the look and value of our home. If you are looking for new flooring, whether commercial or residential, it really doesn't get better than Cottage floors. We paid a pretty penny for what Anna sold as 'top of the line hardwood floors' and perhaps they would be if this company hadn't botched the install from the very beginning. Our crawlspace needed to be sealed so these top of the line floors wouldn't delaminate but it took finding an independent floor inspector to confirm that the install was flawed and they have never made it right. We did get our crawlspace sealed completely and contacted Anna to fix the floors. After repeated requests to fix this horrible finish on our floors, they came out and used an old batch of sealer that shows every scratch and scrape even worse than before! Again we had to beg them to come back and instead of properly preparing the surface, they just poured more sealer on top of the old, scratched and marred floor. It looks just awful but we're just so tired of begging this company to honor the product they sell and the labor force they dispatch. Don't waste your time, money or any energy on this company, they don't honor their guarantee and just wait until you are too tired of fighting to try and get the product they sold you. read more
