We had our old floor and baseboards removed, and LVP plus new baseboards installed throughout our entire first floor.. They removed my toilet, pedestal sink, refrigerator, and dishwasher to ensure they installed the floor under those. Antonio did the floor and baseboards with helpers. All the guys were very nice and friendly. They came in and did what was expected, excellent install and an excellent finish product. One of the closets was rather tricky because there was a closet organizer that they had to work around, I love the way they solved that problem, it came out really nice. The crew had an excellent attention to detail. At the end of each day they cleaned up extremely well (I was very impressed and this built my confidence that the project was in good hands). The Rivera team put in a vinyl floor in our basement (~375 sq ft). They did a great job with the specs of the project, realizing that the floor wasn't level and so added leveling the concrete to the project (the other firm who came in to quote never mentioned that issue). I wanted to install LVP over tiles. I found Rivera's Fine Flooring from Thumbtack. They replied in a timely manner with all required details. Their quote was competitive and they were flexible with me getting the LVP myself. They suggested to have a skim coat with self leveling cement, which was very essential in my opinion. Pablo was able to come very quickly and map out the exact sq ft area. He provided with the quote shortly and adjustments were done easily over email. Francisco was the installer and he did a fantastic job. He was thorough, did not cut corners and took his time to install with care. Respectful guy, easy to talk to and hard working. Guzmael and Francisco did a wonderful job installing a complex chevron and regular plank pattern inside my small home without using the transitional pieces that Home Depot said would be required for the job. They spent a good deal of time working it out, and also ensuring that my baseboards were the correct ones, and also properly cut in consideration of my older home. These guys did an excellent job on installing my bamboo floors. It was a difficult project because first of all, it had to match my existing bamboo floors (which are about 15 years old). They found me a great selection of options and one matched very, very closely. Second, my floor was not level and required alot of work with the leveling compound. Throughout the whole project, the team was helpful and responsive and worked with us to find a good solution to all the issues that cropped up. I would highly recommend them. I was referred to Rivera fine flooring by my neighbor. I had initially contacted them asking for a quote and Javier explained the necessary details to me. Pablo came to the house and provided me with the quote and a proper split with/without some rooms. I visited their shop in Morgan Hill to decide on the color. Javier helped us in selecting a color and I was able to take samples back home to see how they fit. Once we had decided on the flooring, Javier was able to begin installation in 2 days. Gilberto and his team finished the job in one and half days. They were very professional and friendly to work with. They had taken care of my furnitures and completed the installation on time. There was some extra work that had to be done after removing my existing tiles which included polishing. I would love to give this local owned - small business a higher rating but due to the timeline of events and experience my husband and I had with Javier I would not refer this business to others. It started in mid-June when we were getting ready to close on our first home in Morgan Hill. My husband and I knew we wanted to change out the floors and so he did some research and came across Rivera's Fine Flooring. Javier was quick to respond to my husbands inquiry and we were set to have someone come out and give us an estimate on our home the day after we got the keys. Fast forward to the day after we got our keys, the estimator arrived at our home on time and told us that we could get a quote by the end of the day after reviewing the measurements. My husband and I went to Javier's shop later that afternoon and looked at flooring samples and made a decision to go with vinyl plank flooring. Javier said that his men could start the job a week later on 7/2. We agreed to the date and paid our deposit. We agreed to have most of our home (living room, dining room, hall ways and a bedroom re-floored along with baseboards for an additional cost. On 7/1, no one reached out to me so I contacted Javier to confirm someone would come on 7/2 and if so, by what time? Javier let me know the name of the employee as well as a time frame of when we can expect Roberto, his flooring installer. Roberto arrived on time and worked diligently all day and let me know that he would have to return on 7/3 to complete the job. Roberto returned on 7/3 and continued to work on our home but let me know that the baseboards were not done as there was some miscommunication on their end and that I would have to reach out to Javier. This was pretty disappointing considering that Javier should have been the reach out to my husband or I to let us know that he messed up communicating to his team and that our baseboards were not ready as anticipated. In addition, we would need to take additional time off of work to ensure that someone would be home when Roberto arrived. We were able to work it out that Roberto could return on 7/6 by 1:30 p.m.. My husband left work early and no one reached out to him to let them know their ETA. I contacted Roberto about an hour later and he in turn told me to contact Javier. Javier stated that they were running late and that the baseboards were being "painted now". I let Javier know that I was disappointed in his lack of communication given the fact that my husband left work and we were expecting someone to be at our home at 1:30. I asked what time they would be ready and when will Roberto be at our home... no response from Javier. Instead, he responds back another 30 minutes later that he can't respond because he is on the phone with Lowes. He then tries to tell me that if we were able to meet Roberto earlier during the day this would not have been an issue, which makes NO SENSE at all considering it is after 3 p.m. in the afternoon and the baseboards are not done. Roberto came around 4 p.m. on 7/6 and was able to do half of the baseboards and then finished up on 7/7. The final piece missing was a custom transition piece we needed from our dining room to our kitchen. Javier said his employee, Hipolito would come by on Saturday, 7/10 at 7 a.m. because he had another job in SF. We were fine with that as we just wanted to get this done and over with. 7/10 arrives, Hipolito arrives 30 minutes late and tells us that he forgot his tools and cannot do the job. At this point, this is just laughable and absurd so I wait for Javier to reach out to me. On Monday, 7/13, Javier texts asking if they could come today to install the transition piece, I let him know that we were both at work and would not be come until later that evening. I give him some alternate times and he doesn't respond. Instead, on Friday, 7/17 around 8:00 a.m. I find Hipolito back at my house unannounced stating he is ready to install the transition piece. I let Hipolito in to finish the job because at this point, we just wanted to get this nightmare over with. I would say the quality of the workmanship is pretty good; there are a few things here and there that my husband and I decided to overlook as we really just want to put this behind us. The other aggravating thing was that Javier posts a 10% off coupon on Yelp and when I asked him about it before the job started, he said it was an old promo... yet here we are 1.5 months after he rejected the coupon and it is still on his business page (pic attached). I would say Javier has great employees, ok prices, but his overall communication is atrocious! read more

In spite of some negative reviews on Yelp, mostly with communication, I found the crew who installed my floor for my office excellent. They had a great attitude, were communicative and flexible, and best of all the job they did was excellent. Initially I had some communication issues with Javier in terms of us missing each others calls but I understand that at this time, he and all good contractors are slammed with multiple jobs and supply issues. After realizing that texting was the best way to communicate with Javier, everything went smoothly. I'd like to mention in particular one of his employee, Sabas, who's presence was a huge asset given his cooperative and easy going manner while the my hectic office remodel was (and still is) ongoing.
