I simply enjoyed a day of rest in a quaint and comfortable place and an easy walk around the neighborhood. The cottage is fitted out perfectly especially the kitchen. It's a small place, but it's not cramped. There's a deck on the north side that's a peaceful place to sit and take in the larger view of the property. It looks recently upgraded inside--a nice place for one person or a couple to get away or even for four.

We were provided everything that we needed for our 2 night stay and didn't feel like anything was lacking. It's located in a private and secluded property so for us it was super quiet and peaceful. The weather was perfect as well, so we didn't need to use the AC at all (though we did turn on the heater in the mornings as it can get chilly - the heater warms up quickly!). As another reviewer stated, Joan really is the shining star of this guest house. She's got 2 sweet rescues and they got along well with our dog. Joan even bought us organic produce to stock the refrigerator, which I really appreciated. She's really friendly and can give you advice on anything in the area should you need to. Joan really made us feel welcomed, and I'd be very happy to stay here again. There are some great restaurants and markets nearby, not to mention the Jack London state park which we took full advantage of. We stayed here last night, and again tonight. 2 nights is NOT enough. I want to live here. I cannot wait to return. This is such an amazing gem, that I am hesitant to yelp about it, for fear it will be too hard to book in the future. However, I did find this place through yelp, and will return the favor to others. If you are looking for a place to book in Inverness or Point Reyes, you MUST book this place. It was worth every single penny. This cottage is in the middle of an enchanted forest, and I never want to leave! The owner, Wendy is so sweet, and communication was great. It was a breeze to book it. You know how it is when you are in charge of a big group's plan, this was the least thing I wanted to worry about and the most important! where to spend the night on that Saturday. But, then...when we arrived late on Saturday night, spent the night and then the morning of Sunday, we wished we would have arrived earlier and stayed longer. The true magic lies in this place. We loved this house! every corner of it, it is a very comfortable place and your friends or group of people will feel like home. It is a very functional house, whenever you need something (like a bottle opener) you turned around and there you go, you find it. It's clean and organized plus the cleaning fee is included which makes your life easier. It worked really well for me, with a group of single people and a couple. I've cycled a lot around Point Reyes and taken many one-day road trips, but I've never really…read moreexplored the area extensively due to a lack of time. That recently changed thanks to the recent overnight accommodations provided by the Black Heron Inn. Located in Point Reyes Station, about a 5-minute drive from downtown, it's the perfect place to stay when exploring Point Reyes. I had done quite a bit of research on accommodations in the area, but the options seemed to either be way too expensive or way too "patchouli" for my taste. The Black Heron Inn was the perfect fit for me and my wife. They have three guest rooms, and due to the lack of availability of the other rooms, I selected the Grand View Suite. And what a "Grand View" it was. My strong suggestion is not to plan too much during the late afternoon because you'll want to open a bottle of wine and enjoy the view from the outdoor deck or the dining room table before heading off to dinner for some oysters. The clean and well appointed rooms have a small refrigerator, a small microwave, and a toaster as well as dishes and silverware, so make sure to bring some ready to eat food with you to store in the room since food is not provided. We personally picked up some breakfast savories and sweets from Brickmaiden Breads, and our mornings were set. Coffee is provided along with a Cuisinart Coffee maker. If you don't like your coffee black or enjoy creamers, be sure to pack some milk for the fridge. The proprietors are pretty hands-off when it comes to guest interaction (which is just fine), but they are very responsive if necessary. One thing I did learn while talking to them briefly was that they have a lot of repeat customers. Based on our recent stay, I can see why!

This made our lives so easy since my friend needed to do my bridal make up at 5am. The chef, Andy, made sure I had vegan meal to eat before I left on my big day. I let them know I was vegan when we arrived and they made sure to get vegan options for me... that didn't just include fruits. I had the luxury to eat vegan eggs, sausages, etc. & I'm so grateful they cared enough to put that effort for me. Normally this is not my regular Experience. It felt very special especially for my wedding week. The photos online do not do this property justice because it's x10 more stunning in person. It's also the cleanest place I have EVER been to. No dust, not dirty. Just a clean, beautifully renovated home with stunning Victorian touches. I cannot recommend this place enough. We stayed at the McClelland house for 4 days and 3 nights for our wedding anniversary. The property…read moreis amazing. The rooms are very inviting and the common spaces are comfortable. We had the property to ourselves and it was very quiet most of the time, with the exception of #2 below. Two things retracted from our experience and warranted a lower than 5 star rating: 1. Unfortunately the chef was sick during our stay. The first morning the housekeeper stepped in on the fly and cooked what was available to her. For the second and third mornings we had to initiate contact (on both days) with the property manager to find a solution. They were unable to find an onsite solution so we were given the option to eat offsite at a local restaurant or receive a partial refund to cover the cost of the meal; we accepted this option, but it was very disappointing that our Bed and Breakfast experience wouldn't include Breakfast as advertised and expected. 2. Upon check-in the property manager noted that the owner would be hosting a party one of the evenings during our stay. I believe we were told the party would be from 8-midnight. That night we were awaken by talking, laughing and movement in the house at 2:30a and then again around 4a. At 2:30a a group of people were leaving the house for the night and didn't make any effort to do so quietly. This was frustrating and wrecked our sleep for the night. In summary, we really loved the property itself but a couple of key occurrences during our stay would make us think twice about staying here again (would only potentially do so upon confirming breakfast would for sure be included onsite and there were no parties/events being held that would last until the middle of the night).
